Aya hadn't kept her eyes on the clone. Instead she was feeling too good about landing a hit. Just a swiftly as her punch had hit the clone, it's punch came at her. It didn't knock Aya to the ground, but she was taken aback. The clone was coming again, not even giving her time to breath from the hit.

Hp: 9

Aya couldn't try to land a punch on the water clone after being hit like that. However, she did try, but her efforts were futile. At least she had kept her head on good enough to dodge the oncoming blow. But as soon as she missed, the clone was coming around with another.

"Dang it!" Aya said underneath her breath. She had missed again, but at least that try was better than the last. She needed to get this right. Getting the hang of it shouldn't be this hard. Here it came, the clone was throwing another punch.

Drakyn only smiled slightly as the Kage praised him. He wasn't used to praise too much. He was a little intrigued to find out that there was still more to the open palm style, but he was sure that if the Kage said he was still too young, that it would be far beyond him. He was tired, and a good bit hungry. He decided that he should go home, eat a good meal, then rest. He rose and bowed to the Kage. "Thank you very much for training me, Kasu-sama. I'm afraid that the training did take more out of me than I would have liked, and I feel I should get a bit of rest." With that he slowly turned to walk away into the main part of the village where he would order some food from a local shop then proceed home for a good long rest.

All the other students were so ahead of him, so he must train at least 3... no 5 fold as hard to catch up and learn this wretched Open Palm Jutsu. Well, Shinichi thought, with some hesistation. He couldn't train for as long as some of the other students, but it seemed as if he put more effort into each punch and paid much more attention to detail. Surely that will save him some day. Yes, that's right. Training was about improving and learning, not cheating your way through the exercise. Shinichi disregarded the pain that was spreading through his upperbody and faced the clone, his flame rekindled into a new fire.

He tried to step backwards out of the clone's attack path, but the punch came much faster than expected. Shinichi gritted his teeth and fell backwards, the bone in the back of his neck slamming painfully into the ground. The boy squinted and rolled to his feet, left arm rubbing the spot where the clone's fist had impacted his skin. He could still find no reason for his failure other then that he was extremely unlucky or somehow couldn't understand this part of the lesson. Shinichi furrowed his brow, but had no time to think as the clone came at him again. It was all or nothing this time. One more hit and he would have to retire for the day.

It was all instinctive. His hand had shot out at precisely the right moment and pushed the fist away from himself and towards the clone's head. Shinichi could feel the unfamiliar excitement rush through him and he grinned as he stepped up to take... no, block the next hit. Just let your body take over and be wary, he told himself, having been desperate enough to try many things he normally would not have. He made the seal of the tiger not for a jutsu, but to calm himself down. Shinichi repositioned himself and with new impetus, nodded at the clone to attack. It seemed to matter very little that his body was crying for rest. He could do this...

This technique seems so easy after he let his body just do the work for him and stop trying so hard. It seemed completely contrary to all logic, but weren't ninja supposed to defy the common logic? The urge to jump up and cry for joy was very tempting and Shinichi made a leaping motion that took him a few centimetres off the ground. No, he still had to complete this phase and there always was that chance of... Should he really be pessimistic in a time like this? Failure, failure, failure. NO! He had to keep at it and again, let his natural instincts take over the human want of control. The clone came at him and this time, he didn't know what to think. One more block could be the best thing; One more hit could be the worse.

Yes, yes, YES!!! He jumped as high as he could, screaming in sheer joy. It was finally over and he stood here, a learned man! This was truly the strangest miracle ever, him stopping three punches in a row with barely enough strength to stand. However, that would not stop him from continuing to train in the wonderful Open Palm Jutsu. Shinichi took a seat and watched some of the other students perform the next part of the jutsu, taking note of how to use the opponent's strength to his advantage. So, he had to push the fist back in precisely that manner and combine many of his other skills? This was proving to be a very interesting, but crucial part of the justu...

REFERENCE:
This last part is the most difficult to understand. You must take that energy and strength from your opponent's punch and add it upon your own energy and strength. Using the flow and direction of the blow, you must make it flow into your own. This requires movement and turns, which may be slow, but are powerful.

This clone wasn't discouraging her at all. She could keep throwing empty punches and still have the same enthusiasm from when she started. Her movements and dodging were perfect, but getting that extra motion into hit the target was tough. She couldn't think about it for too long, because here came another punch.

Four water clones return to pools on the ground and now only one remains. This is the clone that will fight against you and help you learn to keep moving. It will be tough to avoid the blow, but even tougher to land a blow. The point of this exercise is to make your hit land faster and faster.
DC1: 22 + Lvl
Formula: 1d20 + Dodge
DC2: 30 + Lvl
Formula: 1d20 + 1/2Dodge + Strength Mod
DC Fail: Fail a dodge and recieve -10% health. No penalty for missing the hit.
Train: 5/5
Experience: +1
Points: +1 Dexterity

Uh...aren't you training in the 'Open Palm Jutsu' right now? If you are, then this is the wrong set of training instructions...this is part III of the Dodging Palm Jutsu.... sweatdrop

Aya coughed pretty hard as the fist connected with her chest. Her eyes watered up a little bit from the pain, but it wouldn't make her stop. She knew that her mother was expecting her to get this technique down and she couldn't give up.

Sure, I'm just glad I happened to be on the moment you were about to start wasting time on a very hard training....I'd hate to go through that and find out it was all in vain....but then, it was smart of you to post that reference before you started, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed. 3nodding
