" Are you sure? I can make something for you anyway," Shiyaa said as he walked out of his room, wearing a large shirt with some video game logo on it and sweat pants. Normally, he hated pants, but he liked sweat pants in the winter.

Kiyo looked at both Kuno and Kaya, smiling, " You guys can sit, you know," He said, jumping on the couch.

A soon-to-be law student? Very impressive. He would never have guessed by first looking at Kalen that he would go into such a field. Much less to already be holding down a job as an intern. But his thoughts didn't remain on the boy's profession for long, noticing his fidgety outer-appearance. The darker haired boy wondered if he even realized he was acting on the verge of strange. It was actually kind of cute.. in a weird way.

With the last statement, Skyy looked down at his own legs stretched possessively over the couch's length. If it were a close family member asking, he would have told them to go fetch themselves their own seat, but Kalen indeed wasn't family, nor could he say close. The red head was injured, as he was himself. He decided to at least give him a break this go around. In terms of 'slightly' moving, Skyy moved both legs completely off the couch to let them hang over the edge of the couch. It was just his ankle that really hurt, afterall.

"An intern, huh?" he questioned rhetorically. "Not exactly what I expected you to say, but hey.. Whatever works. I personally don't think I could keep up with that kind of job.. Too much indoor activity, not enough fresh air. A definite problem right at the start. Mm.. But I bet there's always a pot of coffee brewing around every corner."

Kaya sat down beside Kiyo, looking a bit nervous. He'd seen that Kuno and Shiyaa were both Pyromancers. He knew he'd get nervous when he came with them but he figured maybe if he got to know them, he might not be so afraid of fire."If it's not too much trouble...just a small salad would be fine." he nearly whispered as an afterthought,"At least here I can get one, those bastards at the orphanage couldn't have made a salad that was edible to save their lives."

In one fluid movement, Kalen slid himself from his wheelchair into the new space provided on the couch. He winced horribly with the pain in his knee until barely audibly, he muttered 'curia,' with his hand placed over that knee. A warmth surged through his fingers and he felt his broken kneecap mend immediately. Meanwhile, Kalen also felt an immediate drain on his strength. Following the exertion, his blue eyes flickered over to Skyy before he leaned back tiredly against the couch. He took a long swig of his beer and nodded. When the bottle was almost entirely gone, Kalen gave a half-smile. "I don't care for coffee," he replied, setting his drink behind them. "But my family is full of lawyers... so I decided to just go with it." Kalen fiddled with his glasses in such a manner that it seemed he was almost tempted to remove them.

Hearing the small murmer, what he would have never distinguished to be a spell, Skyy rose a brow. 'I wonder how bad that leg of his feels,' he thought to himself, taking it for merely the sound of voiced pain as he silently eyed the other's knee. The negative mention of coffee had the dark-haired teen's eyes snapping back toward Kalen's face. How could anyone not like love it? It was a heaven-sent beverage.. or at least he believed so. But each person were permitted to have thier own opinions. No matter how.. absurd they may seem.

"Keeping within the family line of work," he said with a nod, tipping the last of beer into his mouth. When he glanced up to see Kalen's bottle almost empty as well, a grin spread across his lips. "Oh! Looks like you're a better drinker than I thought. I half expected you to be on the same bottle for at least an hour. Here.." Skyy untangled his own blanket from his legs so he could lean over far enough to grab two more bottles from the case. "Let's celebrate with another. What do you say?"

"No," Gervain said firmly, almost before Brice had finished speakng. Shadi wasn't leaving him. Not ever. Especially not with an older man. His orange eyes narrowed and he pulled Shadi closer to himself. The boy winced slightly as the other's grip just barely brushed over the cuts in his side, but he didn't protest. No matter how angry he had been at Ger before... it was always better, safer to be near him. Shadi didn't want to leave....

Shadi looked up, surprised as the Geomancer seem to turn... normal again. He then did something he almost never did and broke the silece. "You... you fell asleep," he mumbled a little hesitantly.

Brice just held his hands up in mock defeat. Well Gervain was certainly protective... well not protective. He'd call it, highly obsessive.

"Fine whatever, don't get your pants in a bunch kid..." Brice huffed. Was this how most kids were no a days? Okay, so kids have always been this way... but yeah, he could try and act like he was real old and knew better. Riiiiight.

"Anyway..." Gervain muttured, shooting a glare at Brice, "the point of this... meeting... or just, whatever you'll call it because we seem to have picked up an extra -" another glare in the Cryomancer's general direction "- is to... explain. Which means if you're not one of us, get out," he said forcefully, his eyes fully focused on the older man. Shadi frowned slightly, but didn't seem surprised. "So that's why you drink cold stuff in winter..." he mumbled almost too softly to be audible to anyone other than Gervain.

Leif sat up a little in his chair, focused more intently on Gervain, and added in a side glance to Shadi and Brice. He already knew they were all mages, because his other-half did. And the other half liked to share important things like that. He twisted his hair back behind his head and brushed the soft locks out of his eyes, wanting no distractions or comforts at this point.

"You know better, go on."

Brice laughed. So the big bad Gervain had figured him out, big whoop-de-do. What was the kid gonna do about it, it seemed just continue to glare at him. Scary.

"Hmph, is that suppose to scare me kid?" Brice scoffed at Gervain. Well Shadi seemed, disapointed, or maybe he was reading the kid wrong, that he ended up as a mage. Well he could understand, all the mages around here just wanted to kill each other or make alliances with other strong mages, usually of the same type, as them or the partner. He could see how he didn't fit in. It was obvious that whatever Gervain, Shadi and Leif were it wasn't a Cryomancer.

"Well I can feel that I'm not wanted here, whatever. I'll let you kiddies have your fun. Sorry I wasn't much help Shadi, but good luck." he added the last part, meaning good luck with Gervain. Anyone mixed up with that needed luck, and lots of it. With that he turned towards the door, going to make his way out.

"No!" Shadi exclaimed, standing up quickly. A little too quickly, for the movement made him wince from the sudden bite of pain from his side. He gave the older man a look that was clearly a plea of something along the lines of "don't-leave-me-alone-with-these-two-homicidal-maniacs." He lo - he liked Gervain. But he didn't trust him entirely, and least of all when there was another mage near. Shadi didn't like killing. He had rarely had to do it - and never on his own - but he had hated it every single time.

Gervain looked up at his partner, annoyance clearly written on his features. He didn't like his partner to be associating with others. Especially other mages. Gervain was a strong mage and he knew it, but in his current state he wasn't likely to last long in any battle. "Sit down, Shadi. If he wants to leave, let him. Explaining will take time enough as it is without furthur destractions."

Shadi looked as if he were about to protest until he caught the expression of the other's face. He sat down slowly, his eyes fixed on his own knees and hands. Shadi didn't want to be left alone. But he was never alone... not really. Gervain was always there, even if he wasn't beside him. The ring was proof enough of that. And Gervain had the other one. That small, almost insignificant thought caused a slight tilting of the boy's lips, a small smile. He was never alone when he had Ger.

What was that look of pleading on Shadi's face? Leif certainly wasn't a killer. He was just mixed up a bit. Honestly, he wanted the other mage to stay too. He didn't trust Gervain, especially not with his partener around. He didn't think they would all gang up on him. But the thought crossed his mind. Would they? A wave of nausious panic rode him, so he wrapped his arms around his legs. He'd live. That's all he needed to tell himself.

Gervain turned back towards Leif, his expression thoughtful. He wasn't quite sure where to start. "Mages... magic exists, as you've undoubtedly descovered. There are nine different types. Pyromancy for Fire, Aeromancy for Air, Homeomancy is White magic, Hydromancy is Water, Cryomancy for Ice," he said, gesturing towards Brice with his thumb as he spoke the last one, "Chronomancy for Time, Geomancy is Earth, which is what you are... I'm a Necromancer - which is Black magic - and Shadi is a Bibliomancer, someone who uses text for magic. Mages fight each other because other mages are always a threat... and being a lone mage, no matter how powerful, makes you an easy target," he explained, sitting back in the love seat. He arm wrapped around Shadi's shoulder, pulling the unprotesting boy in close.

"That's why mages form partnerships," Ger said, holding up his right hand to expose the ring. "This ring is proof of a partnerships. All rings look the same. When a partnership is terminated - either by the death of one or both mages or by mutual agreement - the ring vanishes. That's pretty much the gist of it." The Necromancer shrugged slightly to show that he didn't expect the other to entirely understand.

Leif's face fell even farther into a cranky, annoyed expression than it already was. He didn't want to hear that he'd have to partener up with someone. He was barely ready for friends, let alone a "partener". He didn't share well, and he wasn't talkative. He couldn't imagine the kind of emotional hell he'd put anyone close to him through by way of his dead-on-the-inside personality.

Then again he didn't have much of a self esteem.

"Not all partners are... close. Most are just together because it's convenient. There's no emotional attatchment required," Gervain continued, correctly reading the expression on the other's face. "But sometimes partnerships are formed from... love. There was an old couple - they died about a year or so ago - that had been together for over fifty years. They ended up senile and in a nursing home and were poisoned. They were still quite powerful, even in their age, and were a sufficient threat to others... provided that they retained the strength of mind and memory to remember how to cast a spell," Gervain said dryly, a slight smirk on his lips. The old coupld had been... associates of his. He had found the pair that had murdered the McCallisters and he and Shadi had killed them.
