Jacob, staggered, was out of the way of the Rook, having been explosively jettisoned from the hole.

The rook was, after all, apparently on the outside of the building, on the other side, where it had to be to have pummeled Shou.

The malicious shades, however, going for revenge were on the move. They would surely have dealt with Jake, except that at 10 feet from Ground Zero they were still in danger and rubble fell like rain. He, himself, pulled up against some of the low ruins around the main building, and proceeded to use his hands as supports to crawl away, bumped and battered by falling bricks to the point where he neither significantly recovered from the daze until well clear, and was showing injuries on his head beyond what the blast had done..

Jacob needed a helmet. And maybe cosmetic surgery: the right side of his face was, for now, simply covered in blood. Beyond that was impossible to tell.

Rubble fell around him, and he steered clear of the larger columns. His goal was to, at this point, get far enough away that when the central building collapsed... it didn't do so on top of him.

The lone UGH soldier who remained stalked towards where the glowing balls had flown from, keeping to the shadows and following the heat signiature on his visor. He attempted to reload his weapon, but looking to it, found that it had been damaged by the explosion. He tossed it aside and instead drew his combat knife, holding it downwards in his right hand as he krept along the wall.

Stealthy.

Deadly.

The Autobots rolled in, then transformed, revealing themselves to be the allotted NPC units from before. They climbed over things and began heading for the 'good guys'.

OOC @ Flare: Then tell me what I might do to -please- you, Spider Queen.

IC: Shouyin was out somewhere in the ruins nearer to the Crescent Plains, taking some time to nurse his wounds. Another ******** woman and another ******** fireball. Oh how his complex grew. Least Ray was more attuned to water, and he was certain all that love would keep her from drowning him, unless he'd changed significantly during these Brigade months of his.

The man pulled the KA-BAR from the sheath strapped to his right shin, holding charred and uneven clumps of hair together before cutting them off. The flames had done more than burnt away the front part of his combat jacket, revealing the single suit underneath (which'd peeled away a little at the collar). The front part of his hair and mostly been burnt away, the eyebrows thankfully left in tact, however the long strands of silvery grey hair were left terribly uneven, and the half-golem had to trim it all down into a short hair cut to keep balance.

Though you wondered what a guy could be doing worrying about appearances at a time like this.

The HK 416 had been long since removed from the harness at his back, set beside his bent right leg in the case he needed to defend himself quickly while trying to recover. In an attempt to lessing the fireball's force, Shouyin had basically punched it with his right, and as a consequence the glove and right sleeve of his singlesuit were gone up to the elbow, the rolled up sleeve of his combat jacket blackened and tattered.

Tapping his left ear, he found the radio still to be functioning.
The man would wait a long while 'til he felt it safe and hobble out.

Not many burns, but he felt like Hell.

Stryphe snuck his way out of there, wanting nothing to do with it anymore. For now, that is.

Hopefully the Shades would be able to re-establish themselves later.

((To the crescent plains and the shade outpost there. Wee. Which also means it's time to go to work!

Josh, we'll have our CQC fight later when I get home and storm the Skinner base.))

Jacob hailed the incoming Autobots nicely enough as the dust settled, and sat down.

It was only then that his mind started to clear. His gun was now buried in the rubble. His face felt like it was under a car, and he couldn't see out of his eye that had taken the brunt of the damage.

That, and, far in the distance, the most gentle rosy-fingered touches of dawn could be seen in the sky. It had been an explosive fight, and a late one.

It was time to head back to base. Everyone he'd headed in with was accounted for (Athan, Quin)-- he'd never even known Moo had arrived.

For now, he shook his weapons free of black gook and stowed them before standing, and heading for the bridge behind the onrushing wave of troops.

Not worth bothering over. Probably chilling in the now-rear battlements, getting basic medical attention to his face, food, sleep...and being conveniently where combat is not.]

Blind run time. With the building dropping, one of the shades picked up Daniel, hardly in shape to move himself, and the retreat to the cresent plains was on. They were warned of incoming wounded, and shades, so it shoudl be safe. Probably a bit less safe for anyone that tried to follow them.

The shades that charged north, seperated, taking a long, curved path around the falling building, trying to use what rubble there was for cover, and the confusion of a massive, falling fort to avoid detection on their way back to the Cresent Plains.

The null mage, and the ice bishop, were boned. Trapped inside because of distance, or a need to keep the buildings up, they weren't going to make it out alive either way.

((Not on a PG-13 forum, Shou. wink ))

Flare just ran like all the forces of hell were on her heels, charging up a fireball as she did so. With any luck, she'd reach the Crescent Plains before anyone decided to shoot her. Just in case, she tried to stick to cover as much as was possible.

The eight archers fired a volley of arrows at the Autobots, then also ran like hell.

"Hnn..."

The UGH soldier returned to his comerade and helped him up.

They met up with the forces who had crossed the river, and together those troops took up residence in the ruins; guerilla like, hiding in the landscape.

15 goons
5 guards
2 UGH

Edit: The autobots were protected by the shield of sleeping people, a powerful enchantment that made the UGH guy with the minigun return fire. An eye for an eye, if they wanted to play that way... though they probably just wanted to run.

Hakan also ran like hell, also heading to the plains.

That is all.

Along a section of the wall that hadn't collasped, though everything around it had, leaned Quin. Hanging from his lips was a pipe from which small puffs of smoke came.

"Damn, I've been at this too long."

Sleep seemed like a good idea.

((Volley was more for the purpose of discouraging them from coming after us. I have no problem with every one of those arrows missing.))

(So I'll sleep now, and assume I'm at the Cresent outpost when I wake up. And if thats been destroyed, then assume I ran back up to main base. I dunno, I just want sleep.)

There was a shift in wieght as debris settled, several small stones clattering along until they hit the ground.

Nothing but dead silence filled the area for several moments.

Soon one portion of broken stone began to glow a deep hue of red, before simply caving in and melting from the inside. A single hand jutted from the opening being made, a large gasp of air echoing out followed by coughing.

More than a few hours had passed since he had fallen, and his head throbbed dully, his vision finally fixed, aside from all the dust that covered his body.

He half laid out along the debris, his lower body still inside the small fissure he had made to protect himself from being crushed to death.

The sun was already out, probaly mid-day more or less by now.

He began dragging himself out the rest of the way.

Shouyin

Shouyin woke up with a groan. It wasn't on account of being sore all over, but more that there was still a crossbow bolt sticking out of his left shoulder. Grimacing, the half-golem focused some stone underneath the wound, using it to force the bolt out of his flesh. Once it was out far enough, the man would reach over with his right, ripping it out with a sharp hiss and a small spurt of blood before he 'bandaged' the hole with a layer of rock.

"s**t," the man said as he pulled himself to his feet, leaving the assault rifle on the floor beside him for a moment as he stretched himself out. The position he'd fallen asleep in wasn't all that comfortable and everything felt tight as Hell. Hopping up and down a few times he swung his arms about, snapping some loose punches before picking up the rifle and abandoning his cover. The silencer on the pistol had been unscrewed and placed back into its pouch, the pistol itself shoved into its holster; somehow Shouyin had gotten away from that assault without firing a single shot.

The half-golem slung the 416 over his left shoulder, digging into the pack set against the small of his back with his right and somehow withdrawing like, a plastic-wrapped turkey sandwich without slowing his walking pace or undoing the straps. He'd look from left to right, catching glimpses of the miner forces that'd taken up positions in the ruins. By chance the man would stumble across Quin, leaned against some random wall. A bite of the sandwich, chew, swallow, and he'd take some sort of seat across from him, forcing a tired smile.

"Well that was one way to spend a night."
