why can't we talk about something other than our instuments? I mean i've got a silver blessing and i'm usin' a 7c mouthpiece. happy now? let's talk about somethin' else. We're lacking people!

that's why we have other threads, like the chatterbox. This thread is for talking about trumpets . . . ifyou don't want to talk about trumpets then go to another thread. 3nodding
Biteth me. It's just...i figured...aw, bite me.

Hey everyone
Alright i need some advice. i am looking for a new trumpet. I have a student model kind of sucks it was good for sixth and sort of 7th. But now its hard to play for some reason. Im a fresmen sitting in 2nd chair in sym and also do marching. For marching i will keep my student trumpet but for sym i defenitly need a new one. Any suggestions, i thought about getting the Bach strads model 31 or something would half to look it up ut anyway any suggestions thanks!
Carmel

Hmm, well, when I was in your position, I went and got my silver Yamaha, which has been beautiful. (Model number 4335g, if that matters). You might also want to think about getting a new mouthpiece to go along with your new trumpet... the 7C default really sucks. Get a 5C at least. (I use a 3C, and am never going back. Ever.)

Yeah right now im using 3C im with ya there! i sometimes use a 7C for marching (big lungs lol). Do you know how much a new would be...i went looking at strads today and saw a new one for 1500 i played it sounded good could tell a diffrence between that and the student model!

Well, I got my intermediate Yamaha for $714 over EBay, but that's definitely on the low end of the range. $1500 is a bit high, though.

I play da trumpet! blaugh It's awsome...but in when the band teacher, Mr. T., yes, we call him that, says out a pepe band song that deals wit hvery high notes..I always blow out my lips...lol.
Oh, ok, another trumpet player that sits by me used to did this thing by spitting on the vavles when they were sticking instead of using the oil. Now...the vavles are icky....god, isn't that weird?!? eek

Hello fellow Trumpeters

I've been playing since 5th grade (currently in 9th, going to 10th) and am one of the best in my band

Only freshman in stage band (high school jazz band) since 3 years ago since only good people in it, and used the same trumpet ever since I started, a 70+ year old silver trumpet my grandfather gave to me, I love Trumpet

about the spitting on valves thing, when there is an emergency and no valve oil....thats wat we are "forced" to do...u gotta do something, if u are told to play and u cant bc of sticky valves....the bd will tell u to spit on them....yea then everyone stares but ya kno....it hasn't made ours icky though!

is there a certain temperature u should clean your trumpet in?
PostPosted: Sat May 28, 2005 8:06 pm

I use the "temperature that you shower in" method for cleaning my trumpet. But everyone has their on methods; some people will say cold, some will say luke-warm and other will say as hot as you can handle.
