Sinter diced, he whisked, he sautéed. Cooking and baking was typically Sinter’s stress relief at the end of a long night. He had the skills for it, certainly, but this was not exactly a venue he was well-versed in. While he couldn’t say he was having a bad time, per say, if he were to do this scale of cooking on a regular basis, Sinter would have to literally learn how to juggle in order to keep up.
Maybe he could just hire Tamiya as his sous chef… or not.

Sinter had finally entered a flow state. Plates were flying out as soon as he could ladle food onto them. His hands had been burned and scaled several times and his rolled-up shirtsleeves had become irreparably stained. Sinter was far too caught up in the sights and smells of his own food to notice or care. He was a cooking machine! Except not like a microwave or anything. His food was actually good.

These people needed meat, and lots of it. Fortunately since she didn't have to kill, skin, chop up the carcasses herself, Luxara would be able to start cooking easy. It might've been a little reckless to start with seven whole meals going on at the same time (she'd never cooked for more than two people after all) but, hey, it was important to take risks! It builds character!

This wasn’t an audience, it was a mob! If Sinter’s pride wasn’t on the line in the cooking competition, his work would be fueled by fear. He wouldn’t be surprised if he ended up needing to beat audience members back with his utensils if he started to cook too slowly. Still, motivation was motivation. The raucous clamoring was practically flattering.

She kept it at a steady pace. First round was easy. Okay. She got this. Rushing around, she was going to add salt to the pans when she fell. Just keeling over was enough for fire to erupt from the oven from her negligence. As she hopped up and tried to save the dish, others started following suit.

The only easy part of cooking massive quantities of food onstage for a frothingly bat s**t audience was that Sinter didn’t have to do any dishes afterwards. He was pretty sure these vats he was cooking in would require some kind of pressure washer by the time he was done.

Sear, flip, serve, chop, season, sear, flip, serve, chop… Going between the various counters and stove burners was starting to make Sinter seriously dizzy. He hoped there might be some food left over after this competition, because he definitely wouldn’t be in the mood to cook any more after this was over. Then again, if this spinning kept up, Sinter wasn’t going to be in the mood for any food, period… and probably neither would his patrons.

Sinter was pretty sure he heard someone in the audience make a snide comment about lowbloods being good at flipping burgers. Sinter chopped his green onions with perhaps too much force and too little regard for where his knuckles were placed. Thankfully physical injury was avoided because Sinter was a damn good cook. All the snotty highbloods out there were going to eat his food, realize its deliciousness, and then hopefully choke on it.

Hivestuck My name is: Voscil Torgny I am in team: Yellow My final score was: 0 (she set her kitchen on fire duh) Voscil was going to do this, she was going to be amazing! Rushing up to her station, the little kid had absolutely no idea what she was doing. She'd eat 12 servings at once though and think nothing of it so why not have a blast making her own dishes? The trouble was, Voscil's attention to details weren't playing in her favor. At all. She started with cranking the oven heat up to max, and then all t he burners on at her station wildly slapping globs of butter in the all too hot pan. As she was darting around her kitchen...the smell of burning made her sniff node wiggle. Ignoring it as she had lots of prep work to do, the kid smelled something else...a much more pungent scent. An acrid one even. As she whirled around, she realized her pans were on fire, the greasy flames were dancing around like a living creature. Uh ohhhhhh. "UM...UMMMMM! I'VE MADE A VERY BAD CHOICE WITH MY LIFE DECISIONS. MISTAKES WERE MADE!?" She flailed her little arms, running around in circles in a flurry of panic.

The part of Sinter that lived alone and cooked for himself felt bad for leaving such a monumental pile of dishes for someone else to clean up. At least the staff was getting paid to deal with the mess. Sinter couldn’t help but hope they’d get to try some of the food for their troubles, too.

The pots and pans the competition were worn out and not very pretty, but damn were they durable. Between furious bouts of cooking, Sinter tried to covertly check the undersides of the cookware for a brand name. Did the empire use this material to build spaceships? If not, they should probably consider it, Sinter thought.

Sinter had lost track of how many meals he’d sent out. Maybe fifty? Fifty, at least the pain in Sinter’s arms reported. He wasn’t even aware he’d been using that many muscles to chop vegetables and maneuver the spatula until he tried to heft a full stockpot off the stove. He nearly lost the pot, the competition, and probably his foot in the process, but managed to catch the behemoth on the edge of the counter before anything could spill. He was still in this!

Reemus's taste in food was considered 'bloody'. As in 'barely cooked'. Surely because he was cool with that, everyone else would, too? Oh well. Food's food at an event as big as this!
The kid looked over his stock, figuring out how much to start with. An even ten? Yes. Absolutely. More food the better. With sloppy prep, he got them ready to cook. The little guy could barely carry all of the meals at the same time in his arms, and it was a mess just getting them onto the oven.
Barely after he dumped the raw meat, he heard Vos screaming next to him. Reemus had smelled her fire, yes, he had the nose for it, but it seemed a LOT of trolls were burning their food time and time again. It was becoming hard to TELL who was screwing up until they reacted.
"Oi, Vos, git away from-!"
FWOOSH.
Flames leaped from her oven and caught onto the meat grease on his. Ohhhhh no. The puppy jumped back with a yelp. Memories of the underground flashed through his thinkpan. Sinter’s nerves were frayed, his shoulders ached, and his apron was absolutely unsalvageable. When had it gotten burnt like that? Had Sinter been on fire at some point!? Well, as long as he wasn’t disqualified, Sinter would keep working. Or pass out. They all seemed like plausible options at that point. He’d put up a solid fight!

Sinter was on a roll--straight off a cliff. He'd been doing so well, it was only a matter of time before something went wrong. It was only a single misstep, but before Sinter knew it, the potholder on the stove was on fire. Sinter yelped and smothered it with the other potholder, but it was too late. Setting utensils on fire was a disqualification. (Sinter would only later conceded that, yes, this was a legitimate rule to have.) In the meantime, Sinter swore and tossed his no-longer-burning potholders down on the counter. The relief to no longer being caught up in a cooking frenzy would settle in later. Sinter was surprised to find himself more excited than frazzled. ”Next sweep! Next sweep, Bloodfest. Look out!” Hivestuck My name is: Sinter Heilig I am in team: Redblud My final score was: 77!
