Sacarius Kel Caretaker of Snowcrest Castle - Duelist of the Green Rose ≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎Mildly amused by Cyras' sudden shock that the Hunters were an unheard force around these parts, although the possibility existed that they were an active force in pushing these eldritch horrors back and keeping the realm safe, which brought up the question as to why hadn't Sacarius met a single one, on either side, throughout his extended life time. He redirected his view from Luna and then back to Cyras, giving Luna an amused look before returning to his usual self when facing Cyras, "Nope" he stated matter-of-factually to his first question, apparently this traveler came from a great distance away from this realm. He listened to Cyras speak and then placed a hand under his chin, holding it up "Hmm... I suppose we've survived because of the armies, the guardians of the realms, the super powered teenagers, the goddess that is head of my group and ohhh... lets say about hundred other reasons" he answered, having lived long enough to have actually met a few of the options he listed. Allowing Cyras to finish off his little speech about Aurelia Wolfsbane while he blocked it all out in thought, Hmm... could be a problem, not sure if I should try to act now or later... Maybe I'll wait and see what cards hes holding before I attempt to fold or raise... he thought to himself, having ignored the entire lesson on Aurelia, "Wow... shes sounds like a pretty badass chick" he said, hoping that they were still on that topic. Sacarius did however listen to the lesson on the Eldritch horrors that Cyras was so scared of, tapping a finger against his chin as he pondered their existence, What keeps them going? Why do they do all this? And more importantly, why can't I have a nice cloak like that, looks comfortable, maybe I'll buy one in yellow... he thought after everything was said and done. He had to admit Cyras' voice was perfect for telling stories, it was booming, demanded your attention, and had this tone that sent chills done your spine, "So you're telling me..." he spoke up, starting to pace inbetween Luna and Cyras, "...that theres a realm chalk full of demons that are known for bringing realms to their knees, and that there some kind of group that fights against them, and wins no less, but that same group can't or at least haven't shown up here?" he asked, soundly oddly interested in what Cyras had to said suddenly, in fact he brought an arm over Cyras' shoulder "Y'know, I'm starting to like this story, please, do go on" he added, suddenly being all buddy-buddy with Cyras. ≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎

Luna stared at him with a blank look, then listened to his story about the Hunters. She had never heard of them, and if any of her clan knew then they did not say anything, and perhaps with good reason. Demons, monsters... words she had heard before, but... surely it was against evil creatures of some sort. She was, in short, a wolf demon, but that by no means meant she was evil. Luna stepped backwards until she gently collided with the snack table, but she stood tall and tried not to let the worry show on her face. "My clan were constant travelers, and there were always all sorts of stories we had learned from the many places we traveled too. Many tales similar to that I have heard but... This one is new to me, but I.." She blinked a few times, "Thank you for explaining it to me." Afterwards she became silent as so many thoughts ran through her mind. Was it possible? Could they be related? Or was it just coincidence? Her thoughts paused again as there was movement and she looked up to see Sacarius pacing between them, and she relaxed, a smidge and watched and listened.

She took the rose from him, with a soft smile on her face. She felt a small blush appear on her cheek but occupied herself by looking at the detailed work on the ice rose.. "That's true, and thank you for the rose. It's.. Beautiful."She thought for a few minutes trying to think of something she could give him in return. There was only one but she couldn't think of a way to mention it. "Amaranth... She would do it if I asked her..." "Sometimes, however they don't"

Cyras Sylaria Architect of Thought "You should clear your mind of idle thoughts..." Cyras' eyebrow raised as the man's answer came. It would have been amusing, if the man had not been serious; while the armies, guardians, and 'superpowered teenagers' were all laughable when he compared them in his mind to the horrors of which he imagined, the idea that they had a goddess- a physical, actual goddess- here among them was certainly an interesting idea. Long had Cyras' people been more or less faithless; why trust in the fickle will of imaginary gods, when the only true salvation was easily obtainable if you simply reached out and took hold? However, he wasn't entirely opposed to the idea of such a thing existing; after all, so much was unexplained and remained unexplainable by what they knew. Imagining something on par or with or greater than one of those eldritch abominations was a difficult task, but proved possible; the idea that it would be benevolent and aid them in the fight against such horrors, however, was less so. He'd never heard of anyone but the Hunters fighting off the horrors from the Otherworld and the Void... Except during the First Breach, and everyone who fought in that battle- if it could be called that, in favor of the word 'slaughter'- had died horribly, or simply ceased to exist.
As the man suddenly perked up and became interested in Cyras' stories, the subtle beginnings of a frown appeared on his face. Practically unnoticeable from any but the most trained and practiced of eyes, that frown displayed not dislike, but a discomfort of the man's behavior; only moments ago he'd seemed far too wrapped up in his own thoughts to pay any mind to the story, yet now he was pacing back and forth as if he was trying to piece it together to solve some sort of mystery. When he placed his arm over Cyras' shoulder, the frown became a bit more pronounced, but he continued regardless. While one might expect Cyras' skin to be as icy cold as his eyes, he was in fact quite warm; there was no special effect of touching him, other than coming closer to the nearly overwhelming magical aura he held around him. Any attuned to that energy would almost feel as though they were drowning or being smothered, yet at the same time it was almost addictive to feel that sort of power that exuded from him.
"They are not demons," he corrected the man, shaking his head. "Demons are only a threat in large groups, and even then only to the unprepared or weak. These things... A single one of them could swat aside the Royal Armada with the twitch of a finger. I saw the last Breach with my own eyes; my father thought it might teach a valuable lesson. I learned nothing but destruction that day; when a Hunter finally arrived to drive the beast back beyond the Veil, it had already destroyed an entire city. And that was in less than a few minutes." He sighed, shaking his head slowly as that day revisted him. Horrifying wasn't even the right word for what he'd seen that day. It had been weeks before he came to terms with his sanity again, and months before he actually spoke aloud. "No, they are not demons. They are something else entirely." He cleared his throat, stepping out of the man's embrace as he looked at him with that same icy gaze. "As far as the Hunters go, if they haven't appeared here I can only imagine that it is for one of two reasons; your goddess serves their purpose enough for them and they are needed elsewhere, or you have yet to actually encounter one of the Otherworlders or Voidwalkers. I can only wonder at which of these is the truth," he muttered, shaking his head. He honestly had hoped to discuss something a little less grave; the constant threat of a Breach was cause for daily life at home to be barely tolerable at times. Even with all their power and magic, they had no early warning or detection system; they could only tell when there was a Breach as it happened.
When Luna spoke up, he sighed almost in relief. Perhaps they could discuss something a little further from home; a surprising thought, he chided himself slightly for it. He had to get back, after all; with the mana gone, even the Hunters would be powerless to stand against the abominations that plagued their world. "A clan of travelers? You're a Nomad, then," he added, giving a nod. If she were part of one of the various nomadic tribes that wandered his world, knowing which one could easily place him exactly where he wanted to know. Despite being nomads, they were in fact rather territorial; they formed mostly tribal, almost barbaric civilizations in the wild, away from the cities. Some theorized it was because the abominations would not seek them out in the wilderness, as they'd be too hard to find; Cyras himself discredited that theory in watching a Breach. That... thing, it had found every last living thing in the city. Nothing escaped its gaze, and he hardly thought the circumstances would have been different if that thing had come to the plains and the wild. Then again, she'd used the past tense; as in, her clan had been travelers. That left Cyras wondering what they did now. If they weren't here and she was, perhaps she'd been abandoned at birth; a common practice and damning evidence at their stereotypical barbarism. However, he held his tongue at the popular belief; he didn't particularly share them, having never witnessed any of the nomad tribes for himself. "... If you can't manage that, I suppose I'll have to do it for you."

The good thing about being a people watcher was the more one did it the more observant one became and would miss less details. As Cyras finished explaining about his home, and story, she shivered as it sounded absolutely terrifying and prayed that the Goddess was who was keeping them safe and not that that horror had come here. "A...Nomad?" She looked puzzled for a moment, "I suppose you could call us that. Though I don't know what nomads do when it nears winter but my clan goes to our wintering lands to stay during the snows." She wrinkled her nose, "Snow is difficult to travel in." Come to think of it they should be nearing the homelands soon if they aren't already there. Which would make it easier for when she wants to write to grandmother.

He shrugged and stepped back beside Luna who had become the main reason that Cyras was still here, or atleast thats what he assumed, afterall he spoke very highly of this Aurelia Wolfsbane, which was only a guess at whether she and Luna shared a bloodline. Sacarius' smile shrank slightly, which doesn't happen often, as Cyras and Luna changed the subject "Ohh... Party poopers..." he muttered under his breath before looking over to Luna, "Its not that hard to travel in, I walk from Snowcrest down to the Academy every day, granted the travel time and weight are much less than what your clan would be dealing with" he stated, it was his only way on keeping himself in the conversation as he had to keep from sounding too interested in these abominations and the hunters. ≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎ ((OoC: Bah, more writer's block, too focused on the new storyline I'm helping co-write.))

Cyras Sylaria Architect of Thought "You should clear your mind of idle thoughts..." Cyras shrugged a bit at the nomadic bit; he truly had no experience in that field, and thus no comment. He imagined it to be a harrowing lifestyle, even without the constant threat of being overrun by demonkin and nameless abominations; however, this girl's manner and possible relation to the legendary Founder was a testament to how wrong he could easily be. On her comment of snow being difficult to travel in, he raised an eyebrow; something as simple as snow gave her people trouble? Of course, he had no way to know that not everyone was a magic user; magic was a simple fact of daily life in his homeworld, and the idea that someone could be born without it was difficult to imagine. That they could actually eke out some sort of actual living was impossible. So the idea that snow gave her people some trouble was a tad confusing. "Why don't they just melt it, or move it aside? Surely you have one that can manage pyromancy basics?" He asked, honestly confused. He took notice of Sacarius' odd behavior again, realizing its reasoning; he wanted to hear more of the Hunters and the abominations. He could see it in the man's eyes; he'd had that burning for knowledge in his own eyes before he'd seen it in action. That was more knowledge than he'd wanted. He could show the man, some other time; but now wasn't the time nor the place for that. It would shake even the most fearless of men to their very core, and somehow this man didn't strike him as one of the most fearless; he could be driven mad by the mere transfer of foreign memories, let alone ones involving those damnable monsters. "... If you can't manage that, I suppose I'll have to do it for you."

Sacarius Kel Caretaker of Snowcrest Castle - Duelist of the Green Rose ≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎Sacarius spoke up before Luna had the chance, "You misunderstand her clan, they are spiritually in tune with the realm, pyromancy is the practice of destruction, fire consumes all that it comes into contact with" he noted, Luna had mentioned her clan being special in the sense that they were powered by animal spirits and their own natural demon wolf abilities, "This is just a guess, but I doubt the path they take from place to place is not be used by others, a path that would surely build up a vast amount of snow when Winter comes" he assumed, he had known plenty of roads that were less taken then the others, the less traveled road is better for a clan that wished for privacy and independence from others. Shrugging as he turned to Luna, "Sorry, didn't mean to steal your thunder like that, correct me if I was wrong or missed something, I'd love to hear more about your clan" he said, tilting his head forward slightly, causing the brim of his hat to cast a shadow of his eyes once more. He was certain that Cyras had a specific reason for being here but he hadn't said it yet, maybe it was just to see whether the people here were truly as he put it blind, deaf, and mute or maybe he had noticed something about the two of them. Whatever reason he had for speaking with them, or for atleast for whatever reason he was in the realm, Sacarius was sure he would explain. Sacarius started to wonder to himself why he was still here, he had a job to accomplish and the person he intended to find wasn't here... I suppose its because its fun to make Xavier wait, he must be ripping his hair out by now "hih hih hih..." he thought to himself, chuckling lightly without realizing it at first, clearing his throat afterwards. He sipped from the drink he had almost forgotten that he had left on the table, before returning his gaze to the two standing near him, Interesting bunch we got here... The Architect of Thought, the Traveling Scholar, and the Emer... hey, you're listening to this aren't you? he thought to himself, atleast he assume at first he was. There it was again, that feeling that pulled his attention earlier, someone was listening in on his thoughts, in fact... someone was trying to get his attention, Sneaky little... Cyras Sylaria Architect of Thought "You should clear your mind of idle thoughts..." "Pyromancy is not the practice of destruction. Fire only consumes when it is uncontrolled; the same can be easily said of any magical energy. Fire is warmth and life- and while yes, it burns and destroys, it leaves behind ashes to fertilize and begin a new cycle of growth. Even if pyromancy would not suffice, hydromancy could easily move the snow aside rather than melting it; I don't understand why snow is a problem at all, honestly," he said simply, giving a shrug. He still hadn't even considered the idea that perhaps magic was not within the reach of all, in this place; a testament to how prevalent it was in his own everyday life. He gave a slight shrug, before his eyes landed on Sacarius.
The man continually increased the strangeness of his behavior, watching Cyras carefully as he spoke, as if considering him heavily. Cyras mentally frowned at this, offering the man nothing but his constantly stoic demeanor accompanied by the faint pulsing of his mana lines. The man suddenly chuckled and sipped on his drink, and Cyras took that moment to blink. Although he wasn't the one enacting any psychic interference, he could feel it happening even from this distance; that caused him to frown, as he reached out and connected with the man's mind. Who was that? He asked the man telepathically, frowning slightly as he built up his own psychic barriers; he would not be caught off-guard by another psyker. His counters were too strong. But he didn't want anyone around him to fall under their control, either; that would make a sticky situation all the stickier by involving innocents. Are they a threat? I can trace it, if you will allow me in. The task of tracing telepathic links, while not necessarily difficult, was tedious and took quite a lot of focus when it wasn't his own mind being interfered with. When he had to use another as a relay, there was all kinds of things that had to be moved aside or avoided entirely, and every second spent on maneuvering the mind was more of the trail lost to the aether. Even a willing subject was rather difficult, in most cases. "... If you can't manage that, I suppose I'll have to do it for you."

Her ear twitched and looked at Sacarius, she didn't hear exactly what he said but she gave a small smile. Then shook her head, but before she could say anything Cyras spoke, and then Sacarius and she just sighed for a moment then smiled to Sacarius when he apologized, "No, its fine. But none in my clan use any destructive powers as you say. And we make our own paths as we travel from place to place, though if it is a special occasion we may use the ways others take, but that is most rare." A pause, Since our clan lives much further north than here the snow falls much heavier and the storms more frequent. Because of this we travel to our main homeland in the north before the snowfall and wait it out til spring when we move out again." She looked at them both before continuing. "In fact that's where they were heading when I split off from them to journey here to the academy."

Sacarius Kel Caretaker of Snowcrest Castle - Duelist of the Green Rose ≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎As Cyras spoke Sacarius brought a hand behind his back and made his hand into the shape of a snake constantly talking as he rolled his eyes, although it'd be hard to tell with his eyes always being in slit form, the man did know what he was talking about but he failed to think about the things consumed by the fire to create the warmth and light, maybe he was just a optimist and Sacarius was more of a pessimist. He was enjoying the little lesson though, using water magic to push the snow aside was a good point, not one Sacarius had thought about, his own personal experience being to simply swing on his chain to where he wanted to, although he wouldn't let anyone know that the chain was there, it was too much of a hint as to who he really was. He examined the Architect once more, it always seemed like they were trying to one up each other with Cyras constantly winning out, he was smart no doubt about that, Sacarius felt a new presence in his mind, this one was also familiar but only a recent memory, Cyras had entered his mind, his eyes shot open and his gritted his teeth "Out... Now" he hissed, an aura of emerald colour emanating from Sacarius, he wasn't sure if staying here was an option much longer, if Cyras had been doing that the entire time then everything was going to go to hell real quick, "Listen Crayola, I ain't got time to explain my... friend's intrusion, you stay the hell out of there, and take a few steps back while you're at it, you smell like cats..." he threatened, as to why he wouldn't say let alone think now that he knew that Cyras lived up to his title as Architect of thought. Sacarius removed his hand from his back and dropped the drink, he wasn't going to let another Outsider get in his way, especially since this time, he hadn't even gotten started. If Cyras could sense Sacarius' power he'd be on par with a strong student of the school, not that of a Duelist which he claimed to be, which brought up the question as to why he was given the position in the first place, his amber snake eyes were fixed on the cold, aloof Architect, before he felt the energy pull him away again Oh haha, very funny... now piss off, its between me and the magic marker here he thought to himself, replying to the voice that spoke within his mind. ≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎≎ ((OoC: Sorry, but as I've hinted at several times, Sacarius ain't exactly the kind of guy whose mind you want to be tinkering around in... Luna didn't have a clue about what was going on between the two men, but something must have happened, since Sacarius seemed quit uncomfortable with something. She made a near silent whimper and backed off a little bit from the both of them. "Hey.. What's going on?" She looked between the both of them again then lightly touched Sacarius on the arm, "Are you alright?"

He felt a tug on his arm and looked over his shoulder, to see a horrified Luna, which quickly caused him to end his little showing of power and adjust his tie "Sorry... s'pose I got a little crazy there, I just don't like psionics..." he stated, his eyes returning to their slit like appearance, and his wicked smile once again looked comforting and friendly, "...one killed my father y'know" he added, quickly feeling he needed to justify his reason for snapping like that. He turned his back to the Architect and faced Luna, "I should go, it was lovely meeting you, please don't hesitate to speak with me if you get the chance" he remarked, as started walking towards the door, his hand placed on his hat. b*****d... he could've ruined everything, why can't those psionics just let people be? "Oh." She didn't know, but she could understand, in a sort of way, how he felt. Then looked up with a small smile, "Goodbye, I hope to see you later." She hoped she did too, she watched him leave, then once he stepped out the door she looked up at Cyras unsure of what to do now...
