The nerve of this dog! Several things ran through Fudou's mind as Chiisana started to pull at his bento box. 1) Dammit you dumb dog! 2) Where's your sense of caution? 3) Your master clearly didn't train you well enough and he is going to pay for my lunch if you manage to get at it! This was adequately expressed as Fudou kicked at the dog violently, trying to get it away. He didn't manage to reach it though as Chiisana had already made it quite a distance then. Well, he couldn't do anything to the dog and his gradually disappearing bento, but he could send the message clear to its owner... He turned to face Pakku and waited until they had eye contact before sending him a venomous glare. From another direction he could hear Yae laughing, or at least what counted as laughing when they all had tape around their mouths. His shoulders stiffened and he snapped his gaze away from Pakku. Instead he focused on the knots again, trying to wiggle his wrists and use his chakra to loosen things up and make escaping easier. So far he could tell that on his arms there were knots around his wrists, forearm, elbow, and maybe upper arm. So once he dealt with the first two knots his increased flexibility would improve the situation slightly.

There was a sudden rush of feeling to his hands as the knot around his wrists loosened and he was able to shake the rope off. Fudou kept his fingers rolling, knowing that if he stopped moving he might be overwhelmed by the sensation of pins and needles. He rotated his wrists several times. Fortunately they hadn't been still for so long that they hurt to move, or rubbing against the rope so much that there were scrapes on his skin. He still had to deal with 9 other knots before he could get out and rescue his lunch though. Fudou got some chakra out again and tried to see what the next knot was like. Was that what Ko-sensei meant by using his chakra? Because it didn't seem to have helped very much so far...

Try as he might, he couldn't worm his chakra up to where the next knot seemed to be, which was pretty pathetic to be honest. The knot around his forearms went around his waist, and Fudou tried to wiggle around more to see if he could get it to loosen up that way. He craned his neck left and right but couldn't catch a glimpse of the knot, so it was probably behind him. Sure enough, once he brought his fingers up he could feel the knot sitting square at the small of his back. It seemed to be quite tightly knotted too, feeling about as large as a cherry. Irritation flared up at Ko-sensei and also at Chiisana happily cavorting off with his lunch. Gripped with a newfound determination and driven by hunger, Fudou tried to get at that knot. His chakra had dissipated now, so he brought his fingers together to make the handsign and tried blasting it at the knot. Hey, it worked in the TV shows...

Fudou slipped out of the next knot, not because of the amazing effectiveness of his chakra energy beam (which didn't even materialise), but rather because his shifting around and moving inwards had resulted in the rope becoming too loose. When it went slack he could feel it instantly and paused for a moment. He didn't exactly want to make the wrong move and undo all his (accidental) progress. Fudou inched inwards again and the rope started to fall, so he kept doing that until the second rope also fell to his feet.
Unfortunately, it didn't make much of a difference to his mobility. The third rope was at his elbow wrapping around the bottom of his ribcage-diaphragm area and the most he could manage was a weak swinging of his forearm. He couldn't even reach the next knot with his fingers and his forearm wasn't the most effective sensing device. Fudou made the hand seal again to conjure up more chakra as he pondered what to do.

Hyuuga Takami ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The boy spent several more minutes, making sure he knew the exact placement of his thumbs. He turned the scroll over, Made the hand sign, and turned the scroll back around with his foot, to compare his hands versus the one on the paper. He still couldn't get it right. Takami looked around, everyone must think that he's an idiot, that he's incapible, that he's not fit to be a Hyuuga, Maybe they were right. No. Takami looked down at the scroll, taking one last crack at the hand sign before him, not successful. "I better moved onto the boar," he looked at the next handsign, deciding to come back to the bird whenever he was all done.

The boy looked down at the scroll, studying the boar hand sign. Turning the scroll over, and performing the hand sign, Takami felt something different, he felt strength, movement, he felt power. He must have done the hand sign right. He turned the scroll over, imagining what he had just done. From what he remembered, the two were almost identical. He pushed on, practicing the boar hand sign for several more minutes, until he was sure that he was doing the handsign perfectly each time. Once again turning the scroll over, the boy performed the handsign, once again feeling the power, he liked it. He looked down at the scroll, reading the remaining eleven handsigns, "Bird, Dog, Dragon, Hare, Horse, Monkey, Ox, Ram, Rat, Serpent, and Tiger," he muttered to himself. He closed his eyes, thinking. placing the scroll down, and randomly pointing to a handsign in the middle, Takami studied the monkey handsign for several minutes, his confidence raised slightly from his still-new success. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Lesson: Learning the 12 handseals Description: Takami must now learn, memorize and execute the 12 handseals, with the outmost perfection. Hyuuga Takami ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Takami studied the hand sign, practicing the form, but still not full out trying it. Going back to the boar hand sign, the boy, performed it several times flawlessly, a slight notion of confidence forming with the sign. He placed his right hand on his back, it was getting sore from sitting down for such a long time. Using his other hand to push him up, the boy got to his feet, nodded to his teacher, and pointed to the bathroom, bow on the way out of the door. Returning quickly, Takami silently went back to the corner of the classroom where he was before, studying the other students and teachers before he gracefully sat into a cross legged position, the make-up scroll tucked into the inside pocket of his robe. The boy took the robe from the pocket resting on his torso, and placed it on his lap, studying the monkey hand sign again, trying to associate it to the animal. He closed his eyes and formed his hands into what he though was the correct position. It wasn't. He looked down at the scroll, noting his mistake, and tried again, each time his hands making the monkey, easier and faster. After about five minutes, Takami turned the scroll over and performed the hand sign, this time he know it was right. He looked at his hands, a stop-on example of the monkey hand sign, pleased with his self. To make sure the success wasn't a fluke, the boy perform the hand sign several more times, with the same grace as before. With a slight smile on his face, the boy added another little check mark next to the monkey hand sign, "Two down, only ten more to go." ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Lesson: Learning the 12 handseals Description: Takami must now learn, memorize and execute the 12 handseals, with the outmost perfection. Hyuuga Takami ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Takami looked down at the scroll, the temptation of revisiting the bird, calling out to him. He studied the clean structure of the hands on the scroll, pondering it's simple form, yet, how he seemed to only mess up more, the longer he tried to perfect it, knowing that he must be doing something wrong. The student quickly formed his hands into the seal, feeling nothing, nothing stirring in his body, no strength, no power. It seemed strange, this hand seal seeming to be so much more difficult for him then the other two had already mastered. Looking down at the scroll, he studied the format of the hands more carefully, the placement of the palms, the distance between the hands, how the fingers interlocked, it all seemed so simple, Like what Takami had been doing the whole time. The student sat there, thinking of any advice that could help him. He knew that if his father, a skilled ninja, were here, then the young ninja would have mastered it by now. Surely his dad would have some token of advice.
With the though of his father, the boy fell deeper and deeper into his mind, daydreaming about how his father was handling, as he did more and more, the longer the elder Hyuuga was away at war. Takami pictured his father, standing on the front lines in his aging state, His eyes, the deadly white color, that were so familiar to the Hyuuga clan. He knew that his father had to be safe, he always was, but then, Takami remembered his cousin's mom, how everybody had been so sure that she would return home a hero. The student stopped himself, he couldn't afford to think like this about his father, he would be safe, he knew his father is strong, and he had to come back from the war. Fading back into reality, The student looked down at the scroll, the drawings of the twelve hand signs pulling him out of his daydream, the Bird hand sign, back in his attention. He attempted the hand sign again, but like usual, nothing happened. He had to be doing something wrong. What was it his dad always said? He knew his father would have a solution to this. Takami's dad would probably explain to his son, something about the way he uses his chakra, or the state of his mind.
Takami studied his hands, instead of the scroll, realizing the problem. "Aha!" he exclaimed, deciding the problem was not his hands, but the placement of his chakra. The student closed his eyes, and invisioned his own body, the way his chakra moved through every part of his body equally. He knew that not enough chakra was getting to his hands, making it difficult for the seal to do it's job. With much difficulty, the boy concentrated on his hands, feeling the chakra flow swiftly towards them, then forming the Bird hand sign repeatedly. Then he felt it happen. The power, the movement, the control that he had felt when he first perfected the Boar hand sign. He felt all of that now, focusing his chakra in his hands. "That had to be the key," the boy thought, to himself. He formed his hands into the triangle like structure, the chakra flowing freely through his hands, to be released when ever he made the hand seal. He practiced it several more times, to make sure he could do it every time, and when he was absolutely sure he mastered the hand sign, he quickly practiced the other two hand signs he master, the monkey and the boar, along with his newest handsign, the Bird. After several minutes of practicing, and making sure that the boy could do the handsign every time, Takami grabbed a short, wooden pencil that lay next to him on the floor, making a quick check next to the Bird Hand Seal, and then grabbing the makeup scroll he got from his teacher. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Lesson: Learning the 12 handseals Description: Takami must now learn, memorize and execute the 12 handseals, with the outmost perfection. This knot was rather intimidating for Yae. It was large and complicated. She took her time mapping it, making sure every little detail was as accurate as she could manage. It looped twice, like shoelaces, before coming together in a tangle at the base. Before attempting to disarm the rope with chakra alone she made an experimental grab behind herself. She managed to get a hold on the knot, and was able to untie it physically by hooking one finger into the left loop and pulling it away from the knot. So much for using chakra. She started reaching for the sixth knot, but it wasn't so conveniently placed as the previous.

Yae once again turned to her classmates. It was difficult to assess their progress. She could see a number of Fudou's knots left, so she decided he was probably a little behind. Pakku on the other hand looked like he was just about at the half-way point, like herself. Realizing this she snapped back to work. She wouldn't be outdone by some Inuzaka who kid who smells like a dog. Her eyes closed, she focused as hard as she could as her chakra crept down the rope, eventually reaching the next knot. It didn't see complicated, or even tight. An easy target, she decided.

Hyuuga Takami ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
The young ninja scanned the room, almost everybody was working on something different than him, everybody ahead of him. Takami hated to be last, he hated to be seen as worse than everybody else. Looking at the scroll, the boy picked out the next two seals, the dog, and the dragon, trying to catch his fellow classmates. The boy studied the clean, simple structure of the Dog Hand Seal, the way the open palmed hand lay on top an almost fist structure. Takami knew better than to call this simple, and practice the seal at less than one-hundred percent, He knew that being cocky would be his downfall. He tried it once, the physical structure of the seal came easily to him, but then again, that wouldn't be his main problem for most seals, the chakra control would. Looking back at the scroll, the boy looked at the Dragon Hand Sign, almost a polar opposite of the simple Dog Seal. Takami studied the complex interlocking structure of the dragon seal, the way the fingers wove in between one another, how the thumbs were held, and the angle of the smallest, pinky-fingers, trying to absorb every detail. And as he had done with the dog seal, the young ninja moved his hands quickly the the dragon position, but in his haste, he over estimated the distance of his hands, and jammed his two pinky-fingers against one another.
"Dammit," The boy let out a rare, but quite audible, curse word, looking around, hoping no one heard him and got a bad first impression. He held his pinky-finger for a minute or two, biting back on his lip in pain. Looking around, and again seeing everybody working on more advanced techniques, Takami, felt a rush of motivation, stronger than the pain in his fingers. He looked down at the scroll, putting the dragon off until he finished the infinitely easier Dog Seal. He closed his eyes and pictured the form of each hand in his head, He pictured the way one hand sat on top of another. Opening his eyes, the boy quickly made the hand seal, his chakra focused in his hands. Feeling nothing, Takami looked down at his hand disappointed, noticing that his top hand had slipped to far over his other hands. "Easily fixable. But I hope the chakra control was correct," he tried again. Having the same problem as before, but to a lesser extent, the young ninja decided to slow down, while learning this hand sign, to teach his hand where to place. The boy closed his eyes and envisioned his hand placement, slowly forming the Dog Seal, opening his eyes to see the perfect form. Takami tried again, slightly faster than before, concentrating chakra into his hands. After several more tries, each getting slightly faster then the last, the boy tried the seal again, performing it at a normal speed. Feeling the, now, familiar rush of power, the young ninja, perfected the seal, trying it several more time just to be on the safe side. He had mastered it. He grabbed his pencil and marked the seal off of his list, counting the checks on the paper. Four seals. He had already learned four seals! The young ninja looked at the remaining seals, Dragon, which he was already working on, Hare, Horse, Ox, Ram, Rat, Serpent, and Tiger. It didn't seem like he had very much left.
Trying not to be too cocky, and hurt himself again, Takami moved onto the Dragon Hand Sign, wanting to study the placement of the hands in the picture again before he actually tried it. He looked at the picture for several minutes, burning the image of the seal into his memory, closing his eyes, and letting out a deep breath, the young ninja quickly made the seal. Being overly zealous again, the boy slammed his pinkies together again, harder then before, muttering several profanities to himself. After another couple minutes of holding his pinky, the student tried again, going extremely slow to make sure he didn't get hurt. Even going slowly, the boy still had problems with the form of the hand seal, whether it was the placement of his thumbs, or his pinkies went next to each other instead of touching, and several times, his fingers interlocked with the fingers. He looked at the ground, straight-faced, talking quietly to himself, "This seal is going to be the death of me." Picking his head up, and closing his eyes, he remembered the first time he saw his cousin fighting, the first time he knew he wanted to be in the ANBU. He thought of her, and how like him, she had gone through the academy once, facing the same lessons as him. He knew that she couldn't have had a perfect experience, he knew that she had probably messed up once or twice, but he also knew that she didn't give up. He looked down at his hands, and studied them, he knew he would have to make a few changes to the way he approached the seal. First, the practiced interlocking his fingers, and after accomplishing that feat at a remedial speed , he continued to build up how fast he could go, working for several minutes, until he was satisfied with the speed he was at. Then the boy added on the placement of the thumbs, again started off slowly, and when he felt more confident, beginning to increase his speed, until he could interlock his fingers and place his thumbs perfectly at a speed he was proud of. Finally, he added the part that had caused most of his pain for the day. Like the other two parts of the seal, the boy started off slowly and began to work up his speed, until he could do all three parts, every time perfectly. He looked down at the scroll, and closed his eyes. He made the seal, focusing chakra into his hands, and he felt it. This seal, seemed to have more an effect on him, he felt more power, more strength, more control than any of the previous hand signs. He pulled his hands apart and looked down at the scroll, and then he grabbed his pencil from the ground. Reluctantly, he checked off his new favorite seal, knowing that he had to move on to the next seal, or else he'd be working on the same seal forever. ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬ Lesson: Learning the 12 handseals Description: Takami must now learn, memorize and execute the 12 handseals, with the outmost perfection. But looks can be deceiving, and in this case they were. With confidence she tugged at the thing using her chakra. It slid in against itself, but not to the effect that Yae had intended. It closed in, tightening until it wouldn't budge anymore, and stuck. She pulled at it a few more times, wasting a significant amount of energy before deciding she would need a new plan of attack.
No way... Yae sighed. Just when she thought she was making good progress something like this would happen. Untying knots should, in theory, be easy for a shinobi. Why was it so damn hard? She shifted her arms, moving the rope. The action ended up being a little more aggressive than she had meant, betraying her dismay and frustration.

Fudou looked around at what the others were doing to get some ideas of what to do next. He wasn't about to admit that he was stuck, he was merely... taking inspiration. Learning from others. Besides, everybody had a unique approach to things that others and he himself might not think of until many tries or even at all. He saw that Yae was using the rope as a conduit for her chakra to travel along, and would've slapped himself in the face if his hands weren't tied up and, more importantly, if there weren't so many people around. Fudou made the hand seal and created some chakra. His hands were too far down to reach the knot, so he tried to get it to travel up his forearm. Eventually it reached the knot and he pushed it into the rope, hoping something would happen. Normally he would attempt this task more methodically, but the hunger and fatigue was really messing with his system.
