Luidaeg watched with curiosity as the instructor came in and, without a word, began stowing and securing things about the room, finally closing the door after the last student. He was even more curious when, instead of an explanation or a lecture, she gave a short speech and told them to put on their jewelry.
Obediently and happily he complied, he'd been wanting to try on his bracelet, but hadn't had a chance yet. He placed it on his right wrist, surprised at how well he liked it there, despite the deviation from his usual colors. If they were allowed to keep their creations, he thought he'd make it a regular part of his outfit, even without the FEAR-powered aspect.
Luidaeg was pulled from his contemplation when the instructor pulled out a most disturbing box. It was darker than the others had been, and he swore it moved beneath her hands in an unnatural way.
When she opened it, releasing a small swarm of shades, he gasped. He supposed he should have expected this, or something like it at least. He was bolstered by the fact that the instructor would help them, if it were necessary, and vowed to himself that he would not require her aide. Taking a deep breath, he faced his opponent. He decided to use his sapphire's power immediately, he saw no benefit to holding it in reserve and possibly loosing before he had a chance to use it.

Feeling now was as good a time as any to use the emerald, Ev hoped dearly that it would give enough to sustain her for the rest of the battles duration.

It'd done a little, but... there was no way she could finish the shade off. Regardless, she'd give it her all until there wasn't anything left she could do.

There was something about today that was different than the days before. Death's island was layered with a film of serenity that today was vibrating with the sense of action, of tension, and of elevated sensibility. Even Ylaria seemed prepared for something, though of course a teacher would have her lesson plans ready ahead of time, this was more like 'get ready for a test.'

And right he was.

Ace felt his heart leap into his throat at the shades. Sure they were a typical presence in Halloween but.. Ace was a spoiled boil, he didn't fight. Today though? Today he would learn. "Welp.." he gulped. "Guess I gotta get my hands dirty.." Ugh how he hated it.

He'd hit the thing at least, but barely a glancing blow. Luidaeg was taking more damage than he was receiving, if things continued this way, he could be in trouble.

That was more like it! A few more hits like that, and he might still be able to beat this thing. As it was, Luidaeg knew he could only continue for so much longer. With new hope and determination, he attacked.

Another miss! He was not going down without a fight. Without pause, he swiped again, working through the pain of slashes across his chest and sides as well as arms and cheek.
