Fumi scanned the situation from her spot at the top of a trash pile. The others were faring well, as she knew they would. It was funny; they seemed to pull weapons out from nowhere. Once again, she cursed herself for her carelessness. She'd left her bow in one of the corner rooms at Bartholomew's safehouse. She only had her dagger, and her telekinesis. As if they'd do well in a battle like this one.
She heard an unearthly moan from behind her, and turned to see a zombie making its way through the debris for her. How could it sense her? She was still invisible. Fumi turned and scrabbled down the pile, sending aluminum cans and newspaper and other metal scraps tumbling down. As she did, she unsheathed her dagger and wielded it fiercely. The zombie tumbled down after her, eventually tripping over itself and landing in a clumsy heap. Using that opportunity, Fumi jumped into the air and sank her blade into the zombie's forehead. To any of the other fighters, fluids randomly spurted out from the zombie's head. Fumi raised her arm to shield herself from the spray; and in good time - the fluid splashed onto her sleeve. She would really have to get some new clothes after this.
As Fumi stepped away, a whole, shadowy ... thing fell with a thump beside her. She squeaked and backed away. It couldn't be described as anything else, other than a dark, black blob. That apparently ate zombies, as Fumi watched it do exactly so with one. Don't eat me, don't eat me, she thought in her head. Thankfully, she was still invisible. Hopefully it couldn't see her, whatever it was.
"Don't shhhoot the armored onesss, leave 'em to me." the alien called out, turning Fumi's attention to one such zombie. The zombie's weapon was strange: a large metal glob, with rope attached to it. It was like a makeshift flail, except with an exceedingly large range. Fumi raised her hands and concentrated. She couldn't stop the force fully, but she could confuse its path. It writhed around in the air, making the zombie look up in confusion. Fumi knew it wouldn't fool it for long, but at least it would buy some time, until she could find some other weapon to use to destroy it, or until Verra could blast it.

"People might look at you a bit funny, but it's okay..."
Iridaeon's earlier apprehension seemed to disappear after entering the video store. It seemed he was safe in here. There was a stairway that led upstairs and down. Iridaeon decided to explore the cellar. By consciously dilating his pupils, he was able to see any objects that may be down there without turning on the lights. As he was walking down, Iridaeon's heart skipped a beat as he noticed what looked like the heads of no less than twenty zombies, standing completely motionless in the dark while facing in various directions. He slowly lifted his leg back up the stairs, trying as hard as possible not to make a sound. A zombie groaned and looked up in his direction, although to the zombie's human eyes, he must have seen nothing.
He can smell me... this is not good. He started to move quicker up the stairs, but the zombie who smelled Iridaeon, who was in the center of this small horde, started pushing other zombies out of the way to reach Iridaeon. The other zombies began to wake up, and they too were interested in this new friend. Very interested. Particularly in his tender flesh and brains. "Min Gud," he accidentally muttered out loud. At least half of the zombies instantly became aware of his presence at this utterance. They moved toward the base of the stairs in a somewhat unorganized fashion. The first to reach the stairs instantly fell over at the first one, and slowly used his arms to pull himself higher.
"Thank Odin their motion is impaired." Iridaeon swiftly made his way to the top of the stairs, where he was on the ground floor. It seemed that at least fifty zombies had begun to make their way through the street the video store was on. "That way seems to be no longer an option." Iridaeon walked up the staircase further until he reached a solid metal door that led to the roof. He pressed open the door and instantly a blaring alarm went off. "Oh ********, oh ********." He got out on the roof and looked over the edge. It seems that all of the zombies in the area had taken notice to this appealing source of noise. "If I can just get off this roof I'll be fine, they'll overrun the video store and I can escape without meeting zombies on the street." There was an emergency fire ladder on the edge of the roof towards the alley that did not reach ground level, but it could put him ten feet from a balcony of an apartment. It was his only chance. Iridaeon climbed down the ladder and bent his legs for a jump. As he pushed off, his left foot slid off the ladder rung. Iridaeon extended his arms to reach for the balcony, but instead caught the ladder beneath it. It immediately gave way to his weight and it pulled directly towards the ground. Iridaeon landed on his feet as he let go of the ladder which had come to a shuddering halt. "I've got to get out of here." He ran into the streets to leave the crowd of zombies behind. "And I've got to find someone to find out what's going on."

crying "You two alright down there?!" Tina called checking out the situation. "Y-yeah, we're fine. You go on ahead. We'll catch up later." Desirae called back looking at Kary and then walking to her brother. "You're alone, huh?" she asked with tears filling her eyes.

Kary sighed, lowering her head. "Unfortunately." After a moment, the girl broke down crying, dropping the pistol as it clanked on the hard ground, Kary herself dropping to her knees, covering her face with her hands. "Why, why did this thing have to start? Why were they taken?" She sniffed and coughed. Why? Why my brother?" She seemed so strong before, just looking at the zombie of Kyle, but now she couldn't handle the pain, the last of her family in this cruel, ugly world. She started to pound a fist into the ground, and kept repeating "Why?" over and over, each time the word getting weaker.

tina138 Desirae grabbed Kary and hugged her tight; "I may not fully know what's like to have no family. But I do know that my family and I are here for you. Hopefully, this comforts you a little." Desirae walked over to Kyle and picked up his body; "Let's find a good place to lay him to rest."

Icarius pointed out that the figure didn't appear to be threatening. Or infected, in this case. They continued their walk down the empty street. The lack of infected was beginning to make Xavier worry. He hadn't had much contact with the infected since the outbreak. In fact, he had only run into two infected. But that was because he was alone and vulnerable when the outbreak started.
His thoughts went back to the very first day, and he shivered. He remembered seeing hundreds of people. Covered in blood; some infected, some not. Xavier didn't know about the infection at first. He just thought people went crazy and started eating each other. Even people who weren't infected were killing others; most likely out of fear.
Xavier remembered seeing a small girl, maybe six or seven, with bright blonde hair. He remembered it was blonde, because she was the only one around who wasn't covered in blood. She stood in the center of the chaos, holding a teddy bear at her side. She didn't appear scared at all; she seemed dazed, like she didn't know where she was. Xavier could remember a single, bloody hand reaching up for the girl's hair, ripping---
Xavier gasped, and came back to reality. They were still on the street. Coraline, and Icarius next to him. "We're here." Xavier said quietly, indicating a small store in between two apartment complexes. A large pistol silhoutted the front of the store. It was obvious that it was a gun shop. "Ready?" Xavier asked. ((So is that a yes about the zombies? =P))

Kary sobbed in Desirae's comforting hold, trying to cry away the pain. She nodded in between sniffling and coughing at what Desirae was saying. When the woman let go to help bury Kyle, Kary wiped her face, then followed Desirae. "Okay."[[Edit: Sorry, couldn't think of much.]]

Common sense isn’t dead yet, he smirked as he recognized his own zombie pun. The lack of regular human interaction was turning him into even more of an introvert. Noah wasn’t much of a recluse, however. He could still respond to the sadness the girl gave way as her voice cracked. He didn’t push her into more detail, just gave his own two-cents. “It must be nice to have such a reminder, like he is still sheltering you,” Noah said after looking away for a moment. I can’t imagine losing a father like that, he thought in his hidden sorrow for the girl. He turned his head.
Just as he did so, the dog Lightning bounded over to him and growled warningly at him. Noah supposed he smelled like a zombie, as well as a stranger. There wasn’t very much of his own blood on his coat, after all. The dog sniffed at Noah and his eyes widened in alarm, fearing being bitten quite a bit. “You hope!” he exclaimed evenly, because there were much worse things to be approached by the teeth of. Speaking of such, Noah was careful to back away when the dog’s mouth got within snapping distance of certain… areas. “Nice… Lightning,” he spoke carefully to the dog, trying to be unthreatening. “Please, I mean no harm to you or your master.”. . . Icarius followed Xavier to the gun shop and tilted his head to the side before he shrugged and nodded slightly. "Yeah I'm-" he started to say, but was cut off by what sounded like the sliding of metal and ending in a short -thunk-. Icarius whipped back around to look at what the disturbance had been in the silence that he had come to grow comfortably in.
Near the video store, zombies started to pour out of the building, some falling out of windows while others stumbled out of the doorway. "It appears that we have company," Icarius said as he pointed his gun at the small horde before letting the first shot go and the zombies looked over after the first one of them fell with a half-melted face from his plasma gun.
"Get ready," he advised, "You two go in the shop and search fast for ammo, I'm going to need some help once they start really coming." After he'd spoken, he smirked and threw back his hoodie to put his helmet securely on his head before taking what sounded like a mechanical breath. He started shooting at the Zombies while they were still a block away, though the helmet helped him focus his aim and make him a more effective shooter.

Natalie couldn't keep her eyes open any longer, and she slumped over onto the table, her head cradled in her arms. The old walkie talkie fell from her fingers and bounced to the floor, still crackling with static. As she faded into unconsciousness, a very small part of her panicked at what was about to overwhelm the hospital. And then she was asleep.
"God, fu ... damn it, Natalie, pick up ... lease, just pick up," a voice, broken over the poor reception, crackled on the walkie talkie. It was clearly a man, and his voice (even over the static) sounded worried and angry. "Is anyone there? What's ... appening?"{{I can't keep Natalie awake any longer without it getting too ridiculous. For now, can y'all interact with the walkie talkie whenever possible? On the other end are Max and Oliver St. James, who are half-brothers and Natalie's companions. I'll put up legit profiles for them in a bit. For now, just know that Max is a grumpy med student (age 26) and Oliver is his cheerful brother, younger by a several years (age 21).
Or, feel free to ignore the walkie talkie except when you need something to do.
If anyone has any ideas [Alice?] for how to get Natalie out of her drugged state, I'd much appreciate it! Also, please let me know if you don't understand what the message is. All the "..."s is to indicate poor reception, so some words are missing.}}

Courtney nodded softly closing her eyes for a moment, "Yeah, most of the time I do feel like he's with me, like there all with me..." she looked at him as Lightning was interrogating Noah, "Don't worry he's all bark no bite...but, I think you should change before he does attack.." she said with a little laugh. She called Lightning into her room then got a box from the back of her closet. She dusted the dust off carefully, memories rushing in her mind. She walked back out and went back to Noah, She looked up at him, "These are some of my dads old clothes...or my brothers... Doesn't matter anyway, they should. Sorry there's not much," she said then handed him the box. "Follow me and I'll lead you to your room." turning towards the two bedrooms she walks past her bedroom to the next door. She opened it and stepped in. The room was fairly small, a bed took up the majority of the room and then there was a small closet. "Well this is where you'll be staying." She said with another small smile.

As Coraline was walking with Xavier and Icarius she heard a distant sound of a riot. Coraline turned around to see a horde of zombies. She looks at Xavier and Icarius with fear expecting them to do something. Then Icarius said to go into the store and find a gun and some ammo. Coraline looked at the horde, she quickly gave away her fear and ran into the store for a gun. It seemed people were here before so there was a short of guns.Coraline dosent see any guns anywhere so she goes to the back of the store and find boxes of guns. She opens one to find a shotgun, she smiles and grabbed it. She looks more into the box and she finds some shells. She quickly loaded the gun and ran outside with Icarius.Coraline grips the gun as hard as she can because once she shoots she knows its going to have quite a kick. She grips it and starts to aim at the horde, she takes a deep breathe and shoots. She hits at least three of them. She cocks the shotgun and shoots again, hitting more this time, they were getting close.

✘✘Dr. Howard✘✘ You can trust me.. Dr. Howard looked over at sleeping Natalie. Evelyn had left the room to bring in a wheel chair which she placed the drugged girl into. She pushed her into another room so she could set up some equipment and shove IVs into her arms. He walked over the the walkie talkie, picked it up and slightly chuckled to himself. "Hello." He said with a clear hint of madness in his voice. "Would you like to come over for dinner?" Alice was humming in the background, maybe she had tweeked a little too much today.. but at least she could function enough to cram needles into Natalie's arm and prep her up for expirementation. Though she actually hooked the girl up to plain ole water, to hydrate and get the drug out of her system quicker. ..I'm a doctor. ((Sorry about drugging her. sweatdrop I can fix that.. I'm not actually going to test on you. ))

As soon as they enter the gun shop, Xavier hears a sudden outburst from behind. He saw, to his horror, a swarm of infected surrounding the gun shop. Where they came from, he didn't know. Hundreds of bodies gnashed their way towards the group; men, women, children. Flesh barely hanging onto their bones.
Xavier felt a jolt of intense fear. His bitching finally paid off, but he was shocked. He didn't expect this many zombies at all. He suddenly realized that he was just standing there in place. He looked down at his legs, they appeared glued to the ground. Move! He said to his legs.
Coraline had already took off into the back of the store. Apparently there were no weapons up front, but she reappeared, to his surprise, wielding a shotgun. Xavier jumped over the counter, frantically going through the glass case. There were empty slots were weapons used to be, but no weapons at all. Xavier didn't mind; a pistol was the only thing he had experience with.
And it wasn't even that much experience. While searching, he found a small cardboard box of bullets on the bottom shelf. He opened it up, and found dozens of silver rounds inside. He crammed at least 12 of them into his gun, and put the rest of the bullets in his pocket.
Xavier jumped back over the counter, taking his place next to Icarius and Coraline, who were already firing off at the zombies. Xavier watched in amazement as Icarius' weapon sent a burst of... something that seemed to dissolve what was left of the zombies' decaying bodies.
Coraline fired off a round from her shotgun. The kick seemed powerful, but she was still standing. Xavier rasied his pistol, and tried to aim it at the nearest zombie, but they were all so close, he didn't know which to shoot first. "What do we do?" He said.

Ventes AllaratusxxxxxVentes skidded to a stop when he saw the girl fall off of Desiraes' back. He was about to jump for her, but Desirae got to her first. He stood there and watched them talk for a few moments, and when they said to go on ahead, he hesitated. Tina had Aunt Elle to protect her, so, he figured he should stay behind With Desirae just in case anything else decided to join the party. [color-skyblue]"I'll stay here and wait for Desirae. That is, unless you need to come along right now." He said.
