Thankfully Scheelite was not near Zink when he called to Linarite. Somehow he had avoided the sight of his former Captain and for now was blissfully unaware of which side she now stood on. If he had known, at that moment, it would have been yet another nail in the slender bit of sanity Scheelite still clung to.
As it was, the only important thing to him right now was rousing the Great Phoenix from it's place on the ground. She didn't seem to be reacting, so clearly he'd just have to try harder! The tiny youma fidgeted around, chirping out a song for her.
If one cared to listen....it was oddly reminiscent of Dioptase's song.

He was running. It hurt to use his left leg, to put pressure on the bleeding wound that Sailor Hel had caused with her crystallized spike. Every movement made him more aware of the blood that leaked out. He should have stopped to tie his sash around it to stop the bleeding. But he couldn't -- there was too much at sake here, from the giant bird youma that was on the battlefield to the roaring fires that still burned.
He wondered where the firemen of Destiny City were, or if they were even about. The police? Army? He wouldn't know what to think of armed civilians showed up and started filling them with lead. Though that would make the largest youma go down faster...
Something hit him from behind.
The sailor senshi winced as he hit the ground, spitting out dirt before panicking. Something was on his back. He could feel the dark phoenix attacking and ripping at him with beak and claw. Merope cried out as the bird attacked him. He began to frantically rock back and forth in an attempt to throw the bird off of him. The sailor even tried calling for help, but all that came out was "HWAAAAARGH!" as the Nega-Youma-Phoenix clawed into him.

She was chucking another solid piece of rubble at the Black Phoenix, but that was barely out of her hand when she felt a force against her back. The Eternal Senshi was sent stumbling forward, and nearly down onto her knees. Her asswings spread themselves out wide, aiding her in a quick balance renewal. Really, Nemesis did not need to turn around to see who it was. She knew it was Alkaid, it would always be Alkaid. They were set on a path that would eternally lead to one another, through the good and the bad. Nemesis could not escape Alkaid, and Alkaid could not escape Nemesis.
One of them would have to die for their struggle to end. It would never wither, it would never find peace any other way than through death.
Nemesis turned on her heel, throwing up an arm to block a punch that she expected to come. She couldn't focus on the Black Phoenix anymore - Alkaid demanded her attention, and again Nemesis would give it to her. She couldn't run, no matter how much she wanted to. There was no escaping this struggle... Nemesis had to realize at one point that there had never been a chance to avoid a deadly conclusion.
Another push sent her stumbling back, unable to lash out against Alkaid. "Are you so willing to die?" came a question spoken through gritted teeth. Alkaid wasn't given much of a chance to answer, because the Soldier of Decay was now aiming a punch towards the girl's gut.

She had tried. They had tried. Everyone had tried. It simply was not enough. With a heaving sigh, the Black Phoenix let out a cry broken by blood and puss. Her wings trembled, stirring up tiny curls of sand across the flat concrete. The city surrounding them had been demolished, entire buildings flattened beneath the claws of the Great Youma. Her tiny replicas buzzed and chirruped around her. They fought with tiny claws and tiny teeth and tiny hearts to protect her. This end was not their fault. She hoped they understood that by the gleam in her eyes, the appreciation for their sacrifice. Smoke curled out of her nostrils, her mouth, her eyesockets. It was as if her hide were bleeding smoke the way it poured out of her. There was a pop! -- and then the Great Youma exploded into a flurry of glimmering dust. In the end, all youma, like all humans, looked the same. She was just another pile of ash. As the dust and smoke cleared from the air, a purple glow peered out from the haze. The cocoon that held Tanzanite flickered dully, crackling like a television set on the fritz, and then it turned black. The light went out, and with it, so did the dull glimmer of what remained of her once-bright energy signature. General Tanzanite was dead. At the base of the cocoon, two stones glinted brightly: The Midnight Violet Crystal called loudly to every Negaverse agent on the field -- even those who remained transformed as phoenix youma. The Ashen Lilac Crystal hummed like a song from the stars themselves to each senshi. General Tanzanite might be gone, but this war was not over. Every single creature on the field began to dash madly toward the two crystals. But who would reach them first? THE PURPLE CRYSTALS If you already own a crystal of any kind, you may not roll. You MUST have been active in this thread prior to this post to be eligible for a roll. SENSHI will roll ONE 100-sided die. The senshi who rolls the highest wins it! NEGAS will roll ONE 100-sided die. The Nega who rolls the highest wins it! IF YOU ENTERED WITH MORE THAN ONE CHARACTER, YOU CAN ONLY ROLL FOR ONE OF THE CRYSTALS AND MUST IDENTIFY WHICH ONE YOU ARE ROLLING FOR BEFORE YOU KNOW THE RESULTS.You have TWENTY MINUTES to make your roll.

Sitting atop Merope she slowly stopped clawing instead simply resting atop him one hand roughly pushing his face down onto the ground as if saying SILENCE! She didn't want to hear his screaming, she was listening. Listening to a song she had heard Schee singing earlier. Frowning if that was even possible she chirped out a few notes in return, her captain had seemed stressed from the start, and that song, it just kept going.

Pointedly, the knight looked over towards her battered prince and spread her hands. "I don't think you would understand even if I could tell you why. We wake up every morning happy to be alive but what we don't consider is what happens to those that don't wake up in the morning. Why? Because we killed them. Why? Because we were told that killing them was a sacrifice that had to be made. But it doesn't have to be." Eyes pulled themselves from Castor to pin Zink where he stood.
She still had that power, at least.
Castor was even now yelling her name and she looked over, head snapping towards him like he'd held out a magnet and the opposite was dead between her eyes. "Castor?" Did he think Zinkenite was a threat to her? Oh. Probably. Sadness crept into her eyes and a step was taken back away from her old protege. "I don't remember much Number One, but I do remember that we were friends. I don't want to fight you. I want to help you see that this is all wrong. Don't you see how wrong this all is?" Hands spread wide and concern was etched for both his injuries and her prince's.
"I'm sorry. I told you I didn't think you'd understand."
Even as Lina said the words 'I'm sorry' the world ended. The phoenix collapsed and smoke spread across the battlefield. The step that had been taken back was forward towards what had been the cocoon. Fingers prodded at the edge of her scanner. "What? No! They were supposed to...it can't....no. She's not. Tanz!" The knight sank to her knees.
Perhaps it was fortunate that Castor was on his way towards her. Lina was, once again, very alone.

Alkaid stood from where she was crumpled on the ground, disentangling herself from Nemesis' body, and stared up at the youma as it collapsed in defeat. As it burst into dust, Alkaid's breath caught. Then the cocoon holding Tanzanite was revealed.
For a moment, she was hopeful. For a single moment she thought Tanzanite would walk out of that cocoon, show her that everything was alright, and then.. the lights went out. Not just that dim, flickering light inside the cocoon but also the light that was Tanz.
She felt her heart grow heavy, swelling with emotions she couldn't even stop to think about. She had felt too much, endured too much in one night and what she really just wanted.. was Tanz to come and tell her it would be alright.
But Tanz wasn't coming, not anymore.
On the verge of tears, for what felt like the hundredth time, Alkaid made a dash for the crystals she had seen glimmering by the cocoon. They were part of something that had been Tanz at the core and she needed to get them.

Zanazziite was distracted from Scylla, she was distracted from anyone, by the death of the dragon. She watched in horror as the dragon burst into dust. Like any other youma that's what happened when they died. They became dust.
Tears started flowing down her cheeks and she took a step forwards, arm reached out towards the fallen youma. "Tanzanite..." Her words were a hoarse whisper, empty of any emotion.
After a moment she snapped out of it and ran after Scylla, antler flailing. She wasn't running to attack though, she was running to cradle Tanzanite's broken body.

Ilmenite didn't know what the crystal was. He didn't know what it did. His exposure had been only to Zink's, passing comments, but -- but he wanted it. So he lunged.

No no no no NO. The giant youma was gone, her shimmering ash falling down on the tiny form of Scheebird. The little Phoenix just sat there a moment, staring sadly at the pile of ash.
Then...the cocoon. The cocoon...that suddenly held no power signature in it. Tanz? TANZ? No! Just...NO!
Then he spotted it, two crystals glowing at the foot of the cocoon. Tanz....T-tanz might be gone, but he had to think for just a second and get to those crystals.
