Aludra Yvette... Seeing that they had a new potion that was assigned, Aludra got out her incredients and began to organize then according to what step they were to be put in at. Once she had done that, she filled her cauldron up with the 3 cups of water and light a small fire beneath it using her wand. One of the most difficult aspects of the art of potion making was waiting... Aludra leaned back and crossed her arms over her chest as she waited for the water to warm. ...7th Year Slytherin

Aludra Yvette... After a few painful minutes of waiting on Aludras part, her water was sufficently heated for the next step of the potion. She looked back at the board for some guidance on her next move and proceeded.
She begand to crush her rose petals just as the board said and dumped them into the cauldron. Aludra picked up her wand and gave the mixture a stir so that the juices from the petals were incorperated into the warmed water. After the petal juice was worked in, she added the three drops of vanilla and stirred again. Aludra groaned as she read the next bit of intructions, 'bring the water to a boil'. She set her wand down and crossed her arms over her chest again. She wasnt a very pacient woman. ...7th Year Slytherin

Aludra Yvette... "Finally!" Aludra blurted out as she saw her cauldron water begin to boil vigorously. Any longer and she might have had to help it along. She quickly added the tablespoon of crushed beetle eyes and began her stirring, a counterclockwise stir 12 times and add a clockwise stir at the end. Aludra nodded at her stirring work and looked up at the board again for more guidance. "Oh for the love of Merlins saggy left..." she ranted as she saw wait 10 minutes. This waiting was begining to kill her on the inside. ...7th Year Slytherin

Aludra Yvette... After those painful 10 minutes of waiting for her potion to cool down, Aludra added her powdered unicorn horn in hastily. She drew out her wand and gave it a stire to dissolve the powder inside of the liquid. After she saw that it was adiquetly combined, She ladeled out a cup of her potion and labeled it with her name before she brought it to the front of the room where there was a newly put muggle freezer next to the Professors desk. Aludra lifted the freezer door open and set her cup carefully at the bottom. "There we are, one potion ready for freezing." Aludra closed the freezer door back and headed for her desk to begin more waiting. ...7th Year Slytherin

Taking the teacher's lack of answer as an incentive to read the board, Amelia lugged her cauldron to an empty stop in the room. Lifting her head, she read the ingredients. Glancing around the room, she wondered how she was supposed to get them. There didn't appear to be a facet, for the water, nor a pile of roses. There was vanilla provided, and she'd gotten powdered unicorn horn and beetle eyes from the apothecary in Diagon Alley. Idly she wonder what type of beetle they were using. She paused for a second over her cup, then remembered Meiko's spell to fill the vase with water, Aguamenti. Chewing on her lip, she decided to try it. Tapping her wand on the cauldron as she'd seen magicians do in and time again, she cleared her throat and in a stern voice said the spell, "Aguamenti." A thin mist hissed out of the tip, more audible than visible, lightly coating the bottom of the cauldron. She laughed at the meager start she seemed to have, but continued to try, changing the wand movements to try and fill the cauldron three cups full of water.

Ah! She figured it out! It was more of a jab than a swish. She repeated the spell three times, grateful her mother taught her the basics of cooking. Otherwise she'd be clueless as to what three cups were without proper measuring. Now at least, she knew she was close. A tad bit under, probably but better than almost a full cup over. She didn't know how to control the amount of water that came out of the wand, but it seemed to be a cup full. Shaking her head, she blinked at the second part of the first direction. Boil it? Where was the stove? Looking around she frowned, underneath the other students' pots were fires...maybe they had a sparking mechanism. She admitted to not paying much attention to her pewter cauldron. The gold ones were prettier. Leaning down, she looked beneath the large pot. No...it looked like she expected in the first place, just four pegs to keep it upright.

Harmony Trumarie...
Harmony sat down on the rickety stool by her work-area, she checked the time quickly on an old silver pocket watch, and then hummed the song three more times. The Slytherin checked the time again, seeing that 10 mintues had passed, she picked up a small vial of powdered unicorn horn and sprinkled it over her draught while stiring. Harmony picked up the instructions she copied, and read it outloud to herself. "...sprinkle the powdered unicorn horn over it. Stir it in any way you want... I wonder do I stir while I sprinkle the powder or after?" Weird unicorn-shaped clouds came from the brunette's cauldron. Harmony frowned and stopped stiring. "Euh...Professor?" She called. Hopefully the woman could stop whatever was causing the clouds.

At the inquiring voice, Amelia turned away from her cauldron to see what was the matter. Her eyes couldn't help but widened when she could see the steam actually creating distinctive unicorn shapes. With that she decided this class was going to be hard. Cooking, if you mess up you don't have weird mists coming up. Who knew what that mist consisted of? What if inhaling it caused one to grow a horn or some such? Deciding asking was the best course of action, she waited until the teacher reached the girl's side before raising her hand to patiently wait. When she really focused on it, she realized she was thinking as if nothing had changed; as if she were in Home Economics instead of Potions. This was magic. And logic told her if there was a spell for water, there had to be a spell for fire. All she had to do was ask what it was. Probably pyro something, but she wasn't about to go making up spells. Explosions were not in the plans for today thank you very much. As she waited, lowering her hand quickly as it grew tired, she leaned over to the girl she'd seen making dust bunnies mate in Charms (Aludra) as asked in a hesitant, please don't be mad at me voice, "What's the spell for fire?" She'd met a few Slytherins in the hall recently--who'd pointed he in completely the wrong direction--she was cautious now of what this girl would say. Sure, if it sounded completely off, she wouldn't try it, and Amelia was perfectly willing to bite back if necessary, but right now she just wanted her water to boil.

Ayamae blinked at the clouds issuing from Harmony's cauldron. "I...have never seen that before...but the potion itself looks fine...must just be a property of that horn..." She waved her wand at the clouds and they dispersed. "If it happens again, I wouldn't worry too much about it..."

Giving up on being provided an answer, Amelia did what she should have done originally, she opened her messenger bag, and pulled out her Charms book. Placing it above the list of ingredients, she found the fire spell fairly quickly. "Incendio," she whispered, not quite being clear on how loud you were supposed to say individual spells. There was a spark, quite obvious from the darkness beneath her cauldron, giving her hope. She had to close her eyes, remembering the last time she'd seen a candle. Focusing on the darkest part, the black center where the heat was its highest, she tried again, producing flames. With a sigh of relief, she checked the directions again. It said to warm the water. Not boil. Slipping her finger into the water, she found that it was still cool. It should only take a few minutes for it to warm. She wondered if she should keep it on the heat. There were so many ifs that she didn't know. This was going to be a long class.

Periodically dipping her finger in, Amelia worried over the potion. Rose petals. She'd glanced around, seeing the other students with various bouquets and wondered if the professor had passed them out earlier. Turning behind her, she asked the random guy behind her for three petals. Obviously the rose had many more, so the Hufflepuff passed them over absentmindedly as he too struggled with the brew.
Crushing the lovely pink petals within her hands, she dropped them into the cauldron. Glancing around she looked to see what others used to stir. Their wands? The young girl had gotten rather attached to hers, and didn't particularly want to use it. But she reasoned with herself that it was wood and the water with rose petals wouldn't hurt it. Still, she gave it a quick stir, letting the moisture mix on its own.
Thankfully, the next step was simple. She'd used vanilla before, and that was provided. It didn't seem like much to her at all. And wondered what would she expect if she accidentally added four. Telling herself she was struggling too much as it was to experiment, she refrained from doing so, setting the vial down.
The next direction made her shudder. Beetle eyes? She tried to focus her questions on what type of beetle it was as opposed to worry that it died an unnatural death. Though wouldn't the eyes already be crushed if that happened? Amelia frowned, but took out her mortar and pestle and began to crush them.

Lena
When the water came to a boil, Lena stirred the cauldron’s contents 12 time counterclockwise and finished with a clockwise stir. She then sat down and read over the potion’s recipe, glancing at the clock every few minutes as she waited for ten minutes to go by during which the potion could cool down. Lena then added the powdered unicorn horn to the mixture and stirred it clockwise a few times. She then took a cup, waved her wand so that her name appeared on it and filled it with a bit of the potion. She then slowly walked to the front of the classroom to the freezer beside Professor Akahana’s desk and put her cup in it. She then returned to her desk and cleaned it of all remaining ingredients and all the tools and items which occupied its surface.

Amelia had to wait a few minutes for the water to come to a boil. Impatience threatened to make her not follow the directions perfectly; except the fear of failing her first potion kept her in line. The directions were incredibly precise, which had to mean they needed to be. So she would follow them to the best of her ability. The moment she heard the water boil, she poured the crushed eyes in, and began to stir. She counted them aloud, to insure their accuracy and even added the counter-clockwise one, even if it confused her. She sat down, pulling out a book to wait the ten minutes for it to cool. Amelia read at a specifically fast pace, which let her estimate fairly accurately how much time had passed.

Glancing at the clock to double check, Amelia realized it ten minutes had past. She felt weird pouring in the powdered unicorn horn, thinking of Beinrochir from earlier. She knew that the unicorn whose horn they took had to have died of natural causes, but it still seemed morbid. Still, she poured it in, giving it a quick stir as to not see the particles sitting on top.
A sigh of relief came as she glanced down at her paper. She was almost done for today. Getting out a vial, she carefully wrote her name on it by hand, not knowing the spell to do so. Carefully she ladled out a cupful, topped it and placed it in the freezer with the other vials. She smiled a little when she realized all of those looked similar to hers.
Returning to her desk, she frowned. What to do with the remaining solution? It seemed fairly wasteful to merely throw it out. Raising her hand, she called for the teacher, "Ma'am?" with her free hand she organized the remaining ingredients.
