Hangnail Apocalypse

Luc was in heaven. Now this was awesome, two lovely gryphon females who were happy to see him. Churring gently, he snapped at both Marli and Iniko, feathers fluffing out so he looked twice his usual size. He preened as he noticed the bright feather that was still lodged in Marli's wing, giving her an affectionate buck with his head before doing the same to Iniko. Squeezing away from the other two, he dashed around the ladies in a wild display of excitement, his long tail flailing about behind his muscular body. Oh, Lucius was a happy boy.

Nyxa merely waved to the other women, a large grin on her face.

Marli blinked dumbfoundedly at the much larger Iniko, never having seen a gryph that could move on two legs before. She dismissed it quickly enough, however, her squeaking chirps sounding very much like laughter as she watched the bipedal gryph pounce upon Luc. Marli turned in place as she watched Luc run around herself and Iniko, her beak playfully nipping at him as he passed. Eventually, she got dizzy and tripped over her own paws, falling against the larger Aerandir.

Iniko's beak clicked as she watched Luc run, rolling from all four feet and back onto her bottom, her front paws raising in adoration for the show off. She knew that it was just what he wanted of course, and thus was more than willing to go along with it. She didn't mind the prideful it seemed.

Dragonfly grinned to Nyxa, before looking to Inle, and tilting her head a bit.

"Hello..." she said, starting up a conversation, "My name is Dragonfly... I don't believe we've met before?"

She wasn't meaning to exclude Nyxa, she was just interested in getting to be aquanted with another Aerandir gaurdian.

Luc squawked loudly, prancing and dancing around both the lovely ladies he was entertaining. It was funny, he'd never yet met a male, and often Nyxa would wonder how he'd react to a male Aerandir.

So with his long tail thrashing along behind him, Luc took on the typical playful pose: rump in the air, head lowered to his front paws. Rump wiggling with excitement, his attention moved from Marli to Iniko, obsidian eyes gleaming with something akin to glee.

Inle shook her head, glancing at the unfamiliar woman. "We haven't. I haven't been out of my cabin much, sad to say. I'm Inle, the little rabbit rolling around down there is Marli."

Said rolling rabbit quickly regained her footing, moving into much the same position as Luc did before pouncing upon him.

"I am very pleased to make your aquantence Inle," Dragonfly said, smiling, and tilting her head, "I'm Dragonfly, and that little beast is Iniko,"

She brandished a hand in Iniko's direction, chuckling softly, knowing full well that Iniko wasn't really a beast, but she could be quite the terror. On rare occassion.

Iniko watched Marli pounce upon Luc, tilting her head slightly as she watched what she had assumed to be a timid Aerandir, act outgoing. With a cry of delight, she too pounced look, her beak snapping (though in no way to injure Luc or Marli) and out of an odd style of affection, beginning to preen the other's brightly coloured feathers, before jumping back, and pouncing into the fray once more.

Chirping loudly, Luc's wings opened and he flapped them a few times, despite the minute weight of little Marli. The flapping stopped once Iniko hopped in, and with a giddy cluck he proceeded to peck and groom the other Aerandir affectionately. It'd been so long since he'd last seen Iniko, he'd missed her! Marli was his newest pal, and he was happy to see her, too. He was a very independant little tyke, but that didn't mean that he liked to be solitary all the time. Part of him craved this interaction.

Marli's squawk as she was somewhat squished by the much larger Iniko was hardly ladylike. She took the opportunity to roll off of Luc as Iniko pulled back, barely missing being squished a second time. She shook herself off, fur and feathers ruffling before settling back into place, before sitting up on her hind legs, pawing playfully at the pair.

"Uh...yeah, likewise," Inle replied, a bit wary of the formality. "What's your critter made from?"

Iniko nuzzled her head against Luc's cheek, before offering Marli an apologetic honk, and nuzzling the smaller Aerandir too. Iniko felt extremely affectionate, and extatic to be able to interact with the other Aerandir, especially Luc! She felt as though she had a deeper bond with the gryphon, seeing as they had been 'born' on the same day, hardly an hour apart.

"She's a raccoon heron," Dragonfly replied, "What about Marli? I can easily place the rabbit, but..."

Lucius churred softly under his breath at both of the gryphons, nuzzling first Marli under her beak before doing the same to Iniko. Iniko was the first Aerandir he'd met after being born, and Marli was the only Aerandir he'd met that didn't shun him in fear aside from Iniko. He could be a little overbearing at times, but he honestly meant well. With a surprising shriek he tore circles around the little ladies, obviously playing show-off.

"She's half tern, of the common variety from what I've read."

Marli chirped happily, her wings outspread to keep her balanced, Luc's feather providing a bit of color in her otherwise monochromatic plumage. She watched Luc once more run around herself and the other female before hopping on her hind legs in an attempt to do the same thing. It was slow going, and funny to watch.

"Tern?" Dragonfly blinked, raising an eyebrow, "I... I've never heard of the bird, to be quite honest..."

She laughed edgially, shifting from foot to foot awkwardly.

"I'll have to look it up now though," she said, smiling.

Iniko honked with delight, raising her paws to clap, a gesture she had seen Dragonfly do, and was now trying it herself. She let out a bleating sound, which sounded like laughter as she watched Luc and Marli, rolling to her back, her paws in the air.

Luc nipped playfully at Iniko's feet when he came around near enough to do so, skidding to a halt and panting softly. Tailtip flicked in happiness before his ears perked at a shrill whistle from Nyxa. Trotting over to his guardian, Luc sat on his haunches and peered up at her.

"Time for us to get back to the house." Nyxa grinned at the other women with a small wave, "Do come around sometime for lunch or something, another playdate. We don't socialize as much as we should, really." That being said, Nyxa traipsed back to her cabin, a sulky Luc following suit.

He wanted to play, still.

Inle smiled gently. "It's some kind of sea bird, I think." Her attention turned back to Nyxa as it became apparent that she was leaving. "See you later, Nyx!" She paused for a moment, looking down at her gryphon. "Come to think of it, we should get going too. I'm kind of afraid what'll happen to the house if Paur's left alone for too long. See ya later!"

Marli squeak-chirped happily, having heard Inle's words, and waved a paw in the air both at Luc's retreating form and at Iniko in farewell. Inle bent to scoop her up, and together, they turned towards home.

Osero
Vice Captain

PostPosted: Mon Mar 14, 2005 8:16 am

Quietly, Osero padded into the village. It was pleasant to feel the warmth of the sun again - he had taken the path of the nocturnal hunter for several days; gathering food by night and sleeping in his cabin during the day. It was a bit of a change to step out of his home when the sun was still up.

The large increase in inhabitants of the village had meant that he'd had to hunt rather a lot - much more than what he had been doing previously. Whereas before he had gone out on a serious hunt every two or three days, now he found himself in the situation where he had to go out every day (or night).

But now he was trying to get himself back into the swing of getting up by day. He hadn't been out for long last night, and had ended up falling asleep early. So here he was now, awake for some of the day at least.

As usual, the wolf-eagle Aerandir was carrying his two pronged fish spear. He didn't usually leave that if he could help it. But he was also carrying a large wrapped bundle in his other hand - the result of a few hours work earlier on. He just had to drop this at the community centre for the rest of the villagers to use as they wished.
