"It was beautiful Shera." Azrael said, kissing Shera on the cheek affectionately. "I've never seen such a beautiful flame. I am happy that Veral is such a good teacher." He told her happily, proud of her daughter's achievement.
Shinn nodded and smiled. "Yeah! Watch this!" Shinn said. He closed his eyes and held his hands in front of him and concentrated. In a moment the bright, transparent wall of light appeared in front of him for a few minutes. "Did you see that?!" Shinn asked enthusiastically.
Lauvel smiled and nodded. "He is. He often wishes to see you nowadays." He confided quietly. "I'm usually on hand in the court, or during a Council of Nobles. He is often tired nowadays... though that... adviser that arrived home with your brother doesn't make it easy. As a matter of fact... I believe it might be him behind your brother's strange proposals... but we can talk about that later." He said as he caught sight of Shera and Shinn's magical talents. Most court mages were ages into their training before they could fully perform things like that. The fact that these children could do it was incredible.

Shera leaned forward and licked her father's cheek, an action that seemed strange to the onlookers when she was a human girl, but was perfectly common for when she was a wolf. She sat back, her eyes closed from the goofy smile she had on her face.
Miluiel clapped energetically. "Oh my goodness Shinn, that was very impressive!" She leaned forward and wrapped her arms tightly around her dearest son. "You and Shera both. I am so proud of you my darlings." She said and ruffled his hair. She paused, with her arms holding Shinn close in a great hug. Her breath caught in her chest. Her family back in her homeland was something she missed dearly. Being here however, was her choice, and something she, as female alpha was suppose to do. She would not have changed that decision, but she still did miss her family.

"H-hello? Is anybody home?" Kayla called out weakly as she cautiously approached the village she saw from the distance. She had been travelling a while now and she was genuinely feeling the fatigue starting to creep into her bones and muscles. She has been traveling on her own these past four years and she has learned you can't always trust a place by its outside appearance and she was out in the wilderness which seemed a strange place for such a village to be located. This whole area looked familiar to her but she couldn't remember exactly why so she continued to move on if not for answers then maybe somewhere she could rest without worry.
One building in particular caught Kala's attention as smoke billowed from the top of it steadily. Normally a sign of residence or at the very least recklessness if the fire was unattended. She moved closer to the building and caught wind of sounds coming from within that she thought sounded like voices but she could not make them out very well. She unconsciously moved her young hand to the scabbard she wore at her side that housed the blade Vertos and felt it glow warmly as though willing to come to life for its master. It wouldn't be the first time she was ambushed in the past and it is something she wanted to avoid if at all possible.
"Hello! Is there anyone that can tell me where I am?" Kayla asked no much more boldly now as her words seemed to carry with the wind. Tired or not she would have to introduce herself. She just hoped it will be on friendly terms.

Shinn smiled and grinned at the compliment. "Thanks, mum!" He said to his mother proudly.
Azrael smiled and chuckled at his daughter. "Your such a good pup, Shera!" He said proudly. "I've not seen such a talent since the previous shaman in our village." While he would have liked to have mentioned his previous mate by name, he didn't think Shera was quite ready to understand that relationship. But what he had said about her talent was true, there had been no one in the village, until Veral had arrived, that had been able to do those kinds of things. With Veral's help, and the training that Izalia had given the Tribe's Healers, he felt that the Garoh Tribe could be a force to be reckoned with, if pressed. Suddenly, Azrael caught an unfamiliar scent and heard the voice of a stranger at the entrance. "Who's there?!" Azrael demanded forcefully. He placed Shera down gently and stormed to the entryway. While elves from Miluiel where allowed to travel freely, and people like Logain and Ain could not really be stopped, there was still great suspicion laid toward other species. The elves of the past had not acted alone in their persecutions. Azrael shoved the deerskin flap of the entryway aside and looked at the woman in front of him. "Who are you?" He asked, less forcefully, but suspicion still thick on his voice.

Miluiel nodded and continued to stroke her son's head tenderly. "You are a very talented young pup." She said an kissed his forehead.
She listened to Azrael speak about their daughter. She was very pleased to hear what he had to say about her daughter's talent. It saddened her however to think about her husband's late wife. She kept caressing Shinn as Azrael spoke. She wondered if he understood who his father was talking about. Did he recognize the description of his own mother? Miluiel, after all was only a step mother to the pup, but she was very happy to be that for him.
All of the sudden she heard something, someone walking into the camp, someone speaking. Her ears were sensitive, being an elf, and a little more sensitive with her wolf gene, but no where near Azrael's as he picked up on the sound first. Seeing her husband stiffen Miluiel reached forward and pulled her daughter back forcefully to her side.
Shera whimpered slightly. She was suddenly aware of the danger and became quiet, although she quietly nursed her pinched skin on her bear arm. Her mother did the best she could to help the tearful child, but Shera knew enough to keep quiet until they were cleared and it was alright to speak again.

Kayla leaped back as her warm coat flapped slightly with the sudden motion in response to the aggressive tone of the person coming out of the large tent like structure. She felt the exhaustion setting in again as she steadied herself.
"My name is Kayla if you will sir and I am a traveler through these lands and although I have no right to ask I am weary and I saw this village through the trees so I came to seek shelter from the bitter cold. I saw the smoke from your building and heard noises from within so I chanced you might be good and kind folk." Kayla said as she made no further movement. The distance between them was enough that she could defend herself if she had to. She hoped if she did there was not a deceptively large amount of people in the building or this might have been her end.

Azrael examined the stranger named Kayla closely. She didn't seem to be much more than a human, though he couldn't trust that too far. Appearances were never quite what they seemed. However, she did look a bit thin, and though wearing warm clothing, was not equipped to travel this far north. Though it was spring, those who were not familiar with the north would be quite uncomfortable with the temperature for the next few months. Finally, Azrael examined her eyes, and he could see no sign of hostility. He could tell that she was alert, but from what he could tell, she would not be the one starting anything.
Eventually, Azrael sighed. "I cannot refuse to help someone traveling like this through the woods. If you were to continue going in this direction you would only find a frosty bog and mountains." He informed her. "Come in. There is warmth and shelter to be had here. We've had plenty of travelers of late." He said, stepping to the side and holding the door-flap open for Kayla.
Shinn could see the traveler from where he stood. Upon seeing that she was human, he could not help but growl quietly. It had been humans, after all, that had attacked the village all those years ago, and killed his birth-mother in the process.
Lauvel's hand had unintentional reached for the hilt of the elven blade at his side when he first heard the intruder. He let his hand fall away from the weapon when Azrael began questioning the traveler. When Azrael stepped aside to let the traveler in. Lauvel unbuckled his sword belt and threw aside, along with his cloak, bow, and quiver of arrows.

Miluiel listened, straining her ears to hear the girl's soft voice. She sounded sincere. It made Miluiel's heart ache to hear such a voice, so shy and timid, so lacking of hope. Her heart went out to the girl, and she wanted to tell her husband to let the girl in, but Miluiel was not the dealing with her, it was Azrael. She waited for her husband to speak as she held her children close.
Breathing a sigh of relief Miluiel relaxed her grip on the two kids. She sat up and waited for the woman to enter the tent. She reached out to Shinn and tapped his shoulder lightly. She gave him a stern look and shook her head, a sign that meant he should knock it off. She understood Shinn's distrust, but still that was no way to act before a guest.
Recognizing the act from Lauvel, Miluiel smiled. She was happy to see that the elf honored Azrael's word, and his decision in letting the stranger enter. She also thought that the act may be to allow the woman to relax a little so she wouldn't feel threatened. This Miluiel understood quite well. Plus, from the look of it, everyone in the tent was in their human or elf form, so that would add even less to the threat. To Kayla this would appear to be just another human colony out in the woods.

Kayla relaxed slightly as the words struck her. She wasn't exactly sure when the next city was going to come up. If she died while traveling then it would be her Karma finally catching up. However she was not the type to roll over and die. Somehow that seemed like a fate worse then dieing on a journey.
"Th-thank you kindly sir. I will try to inconvenience you as little as I can." Kayla said relaxing her arms and moving forward slowly. The cold wind tugged at her the hood of her coat and she pulled it tightly to fight against the ominous wind as she made her way to the building and saw others. None of them seemed to be threatening and the warmth of the fire drew her in. She could see some weapons in the building that seemed to in a pile of cloth but no one was moving toward them helping her realize they didn't mean her harm.
Kayla reached for the hood of her coat and peeled it back to reveal a young looking face framed by white hair that fell down the side of her neck bound by a ribbon made of black fabric. "My name is Kayla. Thank you all for your hospitality." She said as she curtsied slightly as her coat would allow.

Shinn stopped growling lowered his eyes. He remained somewhat tense, however. At a glance, he was struck by surprise. Most humans of that age didn't have white hair. The last person like that was the Shera who had saved the forest four years ago. But that one was an Angel. This new stranger was human, and most certainly not up to that level of trust.
Azrael smiled at the stranger as he let the door-flap fall after Kayla stepped inside. "Sit. Let the fire warm you." He insisted, gesturing to the fire. Azrael walked over to his family and sat down by the fire with them. "This is Miluiel, my wife. And these are our children, Shinn and Shera." He told her, gesturing to his family. "Miluiel and I are the leaders of this Tribe. We have several other guests here as well." He said motioning to Lauvel. "This is Lauvel, a visitor from an Elven kingdom to the South."
Lauvel nodded and bowed to the stranger. "Greetings to you." He said to her.
"We've two other guests here as well. One Logain, and one Ain. Though they both appear to be out at the moment. Our quest den may be a bit full, but there will be plenty of room." Azrael told Kayla. "You look like you could use something to eat. Can we get you anything?" He asked her.

"Sh-shera?" Kayla gasped as she looked at the young girl with white hair similar to hers. It was not an overly common name and the name brought sadness to her heart for a moment but she recovered quickly. "Thank you for your kindness sir once again. I say I don't want to be any trouble and yet you are being more then generous to a stranger such as myself."
Kayla moved to he fire and could see an assortment of nuts and foods from the area including some meats that were drying on coals to preserve properly. "Are you sure it is okay to eat your food though? I want to be able to help all of you if I can to show my gratitude for your kindness." Kayla said removing the sword from her side and placing it down gently near her. It showed she had enough trust to believe they wouldn't attack her unjustly.

Alunn (I keep mixing him up with Ain) walked back to the building, a bear hide bag in hand, full of meat from the beast. His urge had been filled, for now. He would need to find a nice rich blooded human, preferably a pure of heart one, to feed on sometime soon. He entered the building, the shade-elf merging with his shadow stealthily. He saw Kayla, and something tugged at his memory. The shade-elf would have been going frantic, had it not been busying acting like a normal shadow.

Azrael smiled. "Yes. We named her after a woman who saved this forest a few years ago. We could never repay her for that. Not in all the tales we keep, or songs we sing." He said.
When Alunn came into the room, Azrael smiled. "This is Alunn, one of the other guests." He said pleasantly. "Alunn, this Kayla, yet another traveler throughout these lands. It appears to be a most ideal location for travel, as of late." He said, introducing the two guests.

"It is a pleasure to meet you dear." Miluiel said kindly after her husband introduced her. She smiled, both at Kayla and at her son. Miluiel got to her feet in order to serve their guest. "Food, drink, is there anything else I can get you?" Miluiel inquired softly. "Please help yourself." She said gesturing to the food they had collected around the room. "Just rest now dear. It sounds like you've had a rough time. Rest, fill yourself with food and water, and get better." The elf woman said calmly.
"Shera, that's me!" Shera said excitedly and threw his arms up into the air. "It is a pleasure to meet you Kayla!" She said and reached out to shake Kayla's hand.

Kayla brought her hand to her lips and nibbled the ends of her gloved fingers nervously. When she realized it she pulled her hand away from her mouth.
"It is nice to meet you all. This Shera person must have been very powerful to be such a hero." Kayla said in small talk so she could get the nervous twist out of her stomach. It was a distinctive possibility that the very same person was the woman that tried raising her when she was younger. The same woman that was now a part of Kayla. "Please don't do anything out of the ordinary for me. I may be a guest but an unexpected on that can fetch her own things."
