"The soil heals my people. Without good soil, we do not rejuvenate properly during our rest and are therefore not as strong as what we should be. The current assailant is a virus that enters the male during the sleep cycle and then the female from him. We are doing our best to eradicate this, though only one of our people can successfully track the virus. And it is a strenuous thing she does. There are more infected than she can cure. And the cured ones get reinfected when they sleep. You can see how such a cycle can affect us, surely."

"They need help."
"There are others who can help."
"I won't do too much," she protested.
"Think it, just think it, and I'll tell Aunt Pepper."

"I'm serious mom. We can't loose you. not again."
"They need me."
"They need more healers. You are the best healer we have, but we do have other healers. Or do you think Mender, Aunt Pepper, Leetah, you think they wouldn't help?"
Amiie seemed to be squirming, even though she was sitting still. "But we need a healer to stay here in case our own people get hurt."
"Good. Glad you agree."
"Agree?" Amiie squeaked.
"To stay back in case any of us need a healer," Tatiana said triumphantly. "Only the best for Daybreak, yes?"

Aedrus watched the two arguing and was very lost. Out of respect he did not read their minds, just patiently waited for them to explain.

"We'll get some healers together to help you guys out," Tatiana said. "Mother will not be amongst them. And if your people want, maybe some warriors as well to hunt down this foe."
"We can't take a side in a war we know nothing about on a world we have no claim to Tatiana," she said firmly. "Healing is one thing, Maybe I could even research a vaccine, if I had a sample, but we will not fight."
"Vaccine research sounds great," she said, triumphantly. "Just don't catch whatever it is."
Amiie laughed richly. "Some how I am not overly worried about infertility, my dear.
