She chirpped and started walking in a random direction for she didn't know where the kitchen was. Realizing she didn't know the first maid's name, she looked over her shoulder at her. "I don't believe I ever asked your name my dear. What is it?" She asked of the maid who's crying had first caught her attention. Mitsuki bowed in return. "It is nice to meet a fellow maid that actually desires to talk to one another." She smiled sweetly. "Oh yes, and that girl over there, the one who is crying, I believe her name is Sakura." Mitsuki took out her fan and started fanning herself. Post 19

As Yokome walked around the okiya she was very stunned. Maids, sitting around drinking tea and having fun? She had never seen such a thing. When she was a maid she never even dared to laugh let alone sit around with the other maids drinking tea! She felt like the only maiko in the okiya. Where had all the other geisha and maiko gone to? She went back to her room and shut the door trying to drown out the sound of the maids laughter. What had this okiya come to. Yokome walked over to the closet and got out her fan and began to practice. She then went over to her desk and practiced calligraphy. She couldn't concentrate with all the loud noise. She opened the door to her room and said, 'Could someone please bring me some black, blue and red ink from the storeroom?' Hopefully the maids had heard her but she wouldn't be surprised if they didn't. She was very displeased with all the maids.

Mitsuki went to the kitchen and got two glasses of tea. "Yukiko, I got us some tea." she called. "Now, let us sit." Mitsuki set the tea down and took out her fan. "Do tell me about yourself, Yukiko." she said smiling. Mitsuki very much hoped that she would befriend Yukiko.

Kyoku turned from mother for a moment. "Excuse me okaa-san for a moment." Walking down the stair in her full geisha regalia she frowned upon the maids lounging. "You are to tell me there is nothing for you to do? Scrub the floors, im sure plenty of rooms need dusting. Has anyone started to cook dinner? Goodness girls these days, you arent maiko yet! One of you, go to my room and change the sheets on my futon, i want it ready by time i get home tonite."

Endoh heard the woman scolding the other maids, and was very happy that she was able to find something to do early.

She fell to the floor, bowing tremendously deep. "I will change your sheets immeadiately." Mitsuki rushed out of the room and over to the geisha's futon. She quickly but nicely changed the sheets for her. "I am done, madame," she said bowing again. "I am sorry to have displeased you." Post 22

"You got lucky though, if mother had come and seen you, well there is a reason that bamboo pole is out in the garden, i know from experience. Always find something to do, chat with each other while you work." Kyoku gave a small smile and turned away, leaving the room.

She could still hear the woman's voice, so she made sure to take mental notes of all the things she had told the other young maid.

'Thank for the ink.' Yokome said the maid, who was now being scolded. 'She was very happy Mother has not seen the maids misbehaving for the racket would have been even louder if she had found out. She would have heard the screams in the courtyard and the wack of the bamboo pole. She was glad that someone had told them not to misbehave. 'Is dinner almost ready?' Yokome asked one of the maids, 'I haven't eaten all day, except for a tad of jasmine tea this morning. Could one of you bring it up to my room when it is ready? My legs are feeling very sore today.'

Okaa-san walked into the hallway and noticed Kyoku already coming back towards her.
"Kyoku-san, is there a problem here?" Okaa-san turned a harsh gaze on the maids over the geisha's shoulder.
"None of you have been bothering Kyoku-san, have you?" Okaa-san demanded. "She is the only geisha in our okiya right now, and she is our main source of income!"

"Its ok mother, really. No need for any punishment righ now anyway. Anyway, im off for the night, oh could you give the maid thats following me with my parasol to the teahouse some money? im having her run some errands for me after i go to the teahouse, i need some tea, and some new magazines."

Endoh perked up as she heard the women speak. Evidently the time had come to help the Geisha, and she prayed that she wouldn't screw up.

Mitsuki heard the maiko's request and went downstairs to get the dinner. She balanced the plate carefully as she went up the stairs, as she did not want to look bad in front of Okaa-san. "Here you are, madame." she said quietly, but just loud enough for her to hear. Mitsuki set down the plate and cup of tes down next to her. She bowed and left the room. Post 24
