Um, hi, I have a question. I'm teaching myself flute and I don't have a fingering chart. Are there multiple ways to finger F sharp? I only know one way, and it's really hard to get from that one to other notes. sweatdrop

I play flute! well, we have tests, ugh, we also have an evil new band director, who, for some reason, hates everyone who is in third band, but praises 1st and 2nd band. (we have a big band)

I play the flute, and I need some help on the high notes...
I can play up to E flat (the one with a few ledger lines on it) easily, and I have to give a little more effort to play F, F#, and G. I can't play anything higher than G, and I have a playing test on Friday. Someone please help!

I play flute and soon piccolo! I love it. I'm third chair Symphonic Band, which is our middle band (we have 3: Concert, Symphonic, Wind Ensemble). I asked my band director if I could play piccolo for concerts and he actually said if I could get a piccolo before band camp (I don't have one yet), I can march piccolo. That's a pretty good accomplishment because there is 1 senior (not marching piccolo), 2 juniors (one's guard, other's piccolo), 4 sophomores (2 including myself marching piccolo, 2 not) and 5 freshmen (1 marching piccolo because she's super, super good and made 2nd chair Wind Ensemble). But I'm excited and stuff. I've been looking at piccs lately and I can't wait for my own.
Anyone know of good brands (used or new) for less than $300? My family doesn't have oodles of money so we have to opt for a cheaper picc.

Actually if you finger F sharp but use your right middle finger instead of the finger next to your pinky, it sounds much better. It's an alternative.
^^ been playing for 7 years

Spurple Virginie Hullo, due to lack of school enthusiasm and low input from the middle school, I'm the only Flautist in my band at the moment. Even though I'm marching Picc right now. I just checked out an Open-Holed to practice my song for Solo and Ensemble this year. I'd rather be the only one in the band than one out of twenty, like I am now. Gah. -_-;; And nine of them are in my class. (Except right now, I'm on tenor... there's only two of us! ^^) I hate it. Lots of little sophomore kids. x_x When I was in 5th grade and I started to play flute, I was THE ONLY flute in my band. HEH. that is probably the reason I can play really well and really loudly now. Most of the band was trumpets, 6 clarinets, 3 trombones and 4 percussion. In 6th grade I was lucky enough to get 1 more person to join band. shes cool, and continues to be my friend. I can barely imagine 20 flute players though, except for the sympony I was in a few times with about 15 other flutes. That, and when I was little I was in honor band. about 18 flutes there...GAH
