Okay, I'm errata-ing my Tau Codex, and one of the questions in the back is about an Overwatch shot and markerlights. What the heck is an Overwatch shot?

Gaaaaaaaaah, in-between specing/buying Tau units and rebuilding my Necrons, I forgot the new main codex. Crap.

Ouch, well you can either buy the big book or the spanking new starter, which has the rules and two whole armies!

Overwatch is another term used to describe snap-shots: Weapons fire that only hits on the D6 roll of a 6. Overwatch only comes into play when a unit with ranged weapons is about to be charged by another unit. Think of it as reactive or defensive fire.

Just to chime in, either option might seem overly expensive, but is a great option and offers good value for your money. The big book is full-colour and aside from providing you with the current generation of rules also provides you with quite a lot of fluff. The box set features a full-colour mini rulebook with just the rules and two whole armies, again a great deal.

Don't forget, if you do not want the armies chances are there is someone willing to buy them off you.

Hey, I like Necrons. I like most of the new fluff for them. I hate losing my Pariahs, and I have gripes with some of the new units and parts of the fluff, but I like 'em.
Just picked up a Broadside unit (Three suits, 1 Shas'vre/2Shas'ui, armed with rails and Plasma Rifles, with Shield Generator support systems. Probably need to re-kit them.), and a Battle Force. I'm thinking of filling out my army with extra Crisis Suits (not sure on how to kit the suits), at least one more unit of Fire Warriors, Pathfinders, Broadsides, and a Hammerhead. Oh, and either some Guardsmen or at least Guardsmen bits. Am I crazy for wanting to throw in either Guardsmen Allies/Gue'vesta in my army? Or at least having some of the Fire Warriors be human...
EDIT: I'm not sure if Tash'var has a fan-made or GW-made sept for it, but I'm going with them for now, FYI.

I've got a question for everyone. Since I haven't had the money to buy anything new for Tau yet, Christmas around the corner and all, I was wondering if you can still take three Sniper Drone teams in a single Heavy slot?

Asmusei I've got a question for everyone. Since I haven't had the money to buy anything new for Tau yet, Christmas around the corner and all, I was wondering if you can still take three Sniper Drone teams in a single Heavy slot? The codex should be able to help you answer that one. ninja

Playing a combo of Tau and Marines?
As per the Battlesuits: I like taking a TL weapon on each of them. I haven't played new rulebook yet, but having the heightened reliability of landing the weapon of your choice was always the clincher.
Blobs of Fire Warriors are always decent. I'd honestly drop one and possibly the Tetras for more Battlesuits. Personal taste, but I always feel like I get more use out of them.
