And you might have a lot of keys, but each not has it's own key basically. You also don't have to worry (Cept for flutes) about aiming the air just right to get the note perfectly in tune.

I'm sorry, but wood winds are great. I have been a sax player for too long to say that they do not rock. They are awesome. Especially alto saxophones. wink

I'm a Woodwind, but I think Brass is better. It gives the band balance and volume for the music, And it's mostly the background to brighten the melody.

That's true. In my band, we are always told to listen down to the brass, especially tubas.
Lithium Twilight I'm a Woodwind, but I think Brass is better. It gives the band balance and volume for the music, And it's mostly the background to brighten the melody.

brass hands down. not that i have anything against woodwinds, just that brass is more powerful than a woodwind.

But, the melody must be heard also, so that the band would have a more balanced sound.

Brass! I'm a trumpet player and I am proud. With brass you have to buzz your lips and a clarinet said that the trumpets had it way worse than them.

hm, i think i'm voting for both of them ~ I'm not a "modern" musician (I'm specialized on Early Music) ... But for what I've heard till now, I see that both woodwinds and brass are very important at a band and at an orchestra.
In my regard, woodwinds (as flutes and clarinets, for example) have the function of adding a kind of "sweetness" to the melody, like making it look softer. On the other hand, I appreciate the tone of strength of the brass section and the fact of supporting all the upper voices. Its a question of harmony !
I love whan there is kind of a dialogue between these two sections - the tenderness and the agressivity - it's contrast it's just awesome ~
oh, and by the way, I'm a flautist xD
