"And let the blood drain on the floor...?" He considered a moment. "There are probably buckets in there but it still might make a mess. What about guarding it?" He shook his head, changing his mind about that one immediately.
"I'll see if I can find some towels and buckets before we drag it inside." Even if nobody owned the place, that was no reason to ruin it.
He scrutinized her a moment, and if he had been a stranger on the street, she might have thought he was considering making a pass. "You look like you can carry it on your own. I'll go on ahead."

Spyse raised an eyeborw and smirked. So much for his ego... I meant leave it in one of the trees closer to the building outside. It'll be eaiser to guard that way, I can hear if someone shows up. She fluttered her cat ears, but then quickly stopped and flattened them against her head. Why am I showing off so much?!..... Probably because he hasn't run screaming from or drawn a weapon on me yet. Clearing her throat in embarrassment, Spyse began examining the knot to see the best way to undo it so as not to waste the rope. In her manner of hunting it had never been necessary to allow the creature to bleed out, she'd just bring it home for the family. Plus the only predators in the area were her village of wereleopards and they never made it a habit of stealing other people's food. For a breif moment she remembered her family and why she left, sighing outwardly without relizing it or that she was speaking aloud. Just could never be proud of me...

Stepping in the tavern, was the uniformed Aegis. ORDER-Aegis, actually. The man had just gotten out of a bad situation which involved both getting in trouble and drunkards. Slamming the door behind him, he gave out a 'phew' before looking to everyone else in the tavern and waving a friendly 'hi' with the same hand that held his sword.

What appeared to be people in a dimly lit room turned out to be chairs set on dusty tables. There was nobody in the main room and probably nobody in the rest of the tavern. Everything reeked of abandonment, except for the shuffled footprints in the dust that had been made recently by Aniane and Spyse, who were coming back.
----------------------
Aniane nodded in embarrassed consent. Of course that was what she had meant. How could he think otherwise?
The slip knot was designed to come apart at a tug on the loose end. Aniane had plenty of experience with knots.
The poor boy was about to help with the rope when Spyse started talking to herself. It didn't seem like the sort of thing to interrupt, so he checked to see that all his things were in order instead; nothing had been dropped and lost.
"Need help?"

It was Spyse's turn to be embarrassed, as she nodded to Aniane's question. Sorry, we don't use knots often where I'm from. If you could just show me how to undo it, I'll try to remember in the future. It seemed that she'd been completely unaware of speaking her mind outloud, and thus saved both herself and her companion of delving into it deeper unless he brought it up. Gazing at the antlers, the young wereleopard decided it best to not be under it when Aniane undid the knot, instead she went to stand close to the tree to watch carefully, though she did encourage him to hurry. I'm sure the scent of the blood has gotten to other animals by now and they'll be headed this way soon. I don't wish to fight for our prize. Her tone wasn't upset or condecending, just matter of fact. Flicking her ear to swat at a fly, she waited patiently to learn a new skill.

Her grumblings to herself could be discussed later. The boy felt a need to get on with their task.
Aniane had to climb the tree to reach the knot properly. There wasn't much to show her about the knot since most of the skill lay in tying it. Aniane grinned at her before undoing it; A simple tug on the loose end dropped the deer to the ground with a thud, and Aniane was down moments later.
"Then we'd better hurry," he agreed pessimistically. He started to lift the deer at the head, putting his back under it.

Watching the creature come down with a thud, somewhere in the deep recesses of her mind Spyse was happy the thing was already dead, because that fall would've certainly killed it. Noting how simple it was to undo the knot, she made a note to ask how to do one when they got, but for now she knelt down on one knee beside him and, putting the torso onto her shoulder blades, grabbed the anlkes of both the front and hind legs of the creature and stood up as if lifting a ten pound bag of potatoes. Blushing furiously, she adverted her eyes and mumbled just above a whisper. Sorry........ Not ladylike..... Let's just get back okay? Shuffling off towards the inn, Spyse seemed to have no trouble carrying the animal by herself, though her mind did seem elsewhere as her demeanor changed to one who was deep in thought about something troublesome.

Aniane's jaw dropped. He stared at her as they walked back to the inn, not sure what to say and not quite sure why he was so amazed. She was so much stronger than him, and he wouldn't have guessed it even with her animalistic appearance. Maybe deep down, he was sexist.
The young man ran ahead of her to loop the rope around a tree that was pushing against the side of the tavern. He made a noose for the deer before jumping down and stepping back out of her way.
Something occurred to him as he watched her carry the heavy carcass to the tree. "Where is it that you're going?" And can I come with you?

((I am SO sorry! Our internet got cut off unexpectedly. sweatdrop ))
Spyse continued on, not noticing Aniane's reaction to her display of strength. Tossing the buck down with a slight grunt because it went over her head, she considered his question for a moment and sighed. I don't know. I just can't go back to where I came from. I gues I'm just looking for a place to settled down without being riddiculed or persecuted. She worked to get the noose around the animal while she spoke and stood up with a satisfied sigh, wiping her hands off on her pants causing little black finger marks to appear from the dirt. Hooking her thumbs from her pant loops, Spyse leaned all her weight on her left leg, bending her right one slightly and, while one cat ear twitched away another fly, cocked her head to one side. What about you? Where are you going? I don't think this place would be your last stop.

"I came here for solitude," he agreed, "and there is no reason to go back exactly the way I came. I've been looking for someone to talk to about my magic... Someone I might learn from. I've been taking odd jobs, most of them guarding caravan. I've been to a lot of places with magic but natural elementals seem to be rare. Every one is all books and spells, but all I can do is fire no matter what spells I memorize."
Aniane had to raise his head in order to see her, but being as young as he was, he was used to this. He reached up as soon as he was done speaking and touched his fingertips to her shoulder. "We should go inside and rest. Doesn't changing forms tire you?"

Aniane's age had never occured to Spyse, but she was curious now about his height. Her tribe had tall men, the only ones shorter being young, but even at the age she figured he was, by her tribe's standards he should've been closer to her height. No it doesn't really tire me. When I'm in one form, the other is resting. I don't know about being able to teach you any magic or anything, but I have a bit of control over the weather. Not sure if that would count as elemental or not. She shrugged, said nothing of his fingers touching her, took one last look at their catch, and walked into the building, to sit again and hopefully get some sleep. While shifting didn't tire her, all the walking she'd done earlier had.

Aniane followed her with the manners of a servant, dashing to open the door for her and accosting her with questions once they were inside. "Do you need any thing to drink? A blanket? I can get one from another room. You could rest first and I would wake you in a few hours when I need sleep."
He was trying to think of some way to ask if they could travel together, but blurting the words out right seemed inappropriate. He wasn't sure how much he trusted her, but it had to be worth a try even if just to avoid traveling alone again. She could hunt and that by itself was very useful to him even if she couldn't teach him any thing about his magic.

Eyebrow cocked at how the young man was acting, she shrugged and assumed it was a new respect for how she'd just handled the kill. Nodding a thanks as she walked in, she opened her mouth to answer the question about the drink, but was stunned as the questions just kept coming. When Aniane finished, Spyse closed her mouth as smiled sweetly while placing her hand on his shoulder. I'm fine sweetie, and you go ahead and rest. I'll sleep by the door and keep watch. Anyone steps on a twig within twenty feet of here and I'll hear it. These ears aren't just for show, you know. Pointing at her cat ears, she wiggled them for effect and to put him at ease. Moving over towards the door, she glanced out the window to make sure she would have a good view if she did hear anything. Plopping down with her back against the wall, she wiped stray hairs back from her face and huffed.

Aniane nodded uncertainly. "I might be tired." To find out, he would do as she said; he settled down in the corner of the main room with a blanket over himself, in the clothes he'd been in when she'd first met him not so long ago. It took over an hour, but eventually his breathing settled to the steady pace of sleep.
He'd be up with the dawn the next day, although perhaps a little groggy.

Smiling at Aniane's restless attempt at sleeping, she nodded when he finally fell asleep and sat around for another hour thinking to herself about where she was going and where she had been. Finally, Spyse's eyes began to droop and she changed into her leopard form. Laying next to the door, she huffed once again, settled down, and began sleeping in what seemed to be a sound sleep until you saw her ears flicking at the sounds of scurrying animals in the night.
