Again, she proceeded to press as many buttons as possible and she got the same results. It didn't matter whether the succession was logical or very much entropy, it gave her the same results. Polair clearly wasn't happy, her frown grew as more lasers popped up. This wasn't going right, this clearly wasn't supposed to happen. She kept insisting though, no matter how many times she was ridiculed or shocked, Polair kept pressing the buttons-- Completely unware that the lasers were hitting something else besides her. The tubes... Where the leak traveled, the beams kept hitting them while she kept pressing and pressing.

Polair kept pressing and getting zapped repeatedly. Claud tried his best to draw her away from the panel. This was not right, she was going to get hurt, he knew that, the seabear knew whenever she was angry or creative things went bad. So there he was, trying to push her away from it while she was stubbornly pressing the buttons. It got to a point that the lasers started zapping him, not her. Polair didn't notice this, she was too focused on shutting down the leak permanently. She didn't step back until Claud tugged her jumpsuit rather harshly and threw her away from it. She fell on the ground, directly underneath one of the pipes. Polair blinked, her vision focusing on the strangely located button on the steel pipe. What if that button shut the leak down? The child clumsily got on her feet, determined and curious about that button there. She stood on her tiptoes and gently pressed the button.

Click...

The child looked up with a smile, thinking she had resolved the issue. However, the button got into the pipe and the chemical leak began dripping on her. First slow drips, a second later the dense chemicals inside fell on her. Polair fell back once more, feeling a deep burn in her eyes as the chemicals burned her optical tissues. The child gagged, unable to scream for help. There she laid on the floor with her eyes shut. Yet she didn't have the strength to keep the close. It didn't take long for her to blink, the scene she was witnessing, whatever she was looking was being quickly and painfully destroyed until she couldn't see anything. Polair rubbed her eyes and blinked, hoping it was like the last time. It wasn't...

She heard Claud growl nearby, Polair closed her eyes as soon as he approached he worridly.

At the blueblood's words, Ephias glanced over. She had found another manual: exactly what they needed right now. He nodded. “Take a look through there and s-see if you can find anything,” he said through his scarf. It took all his effort not to breathe in too deeply. He turned back to the controls. “I'll shut down more of the shafts going to the main infrastructure in the m-meantime.” He coughed, as he breathed in toxic fumes. They needed to figure out a way to shut down the leak soon or they were dead.

He punched in a similar code to before and was rewarded with the sight of more lights dimming. Unfortunately another valve opened over their heads.

The chemical smell would be impossible to get out, wouldn't it? Eostre rolled her eyes, thoroughly unimpressed with the state of affairs. Would this nonsense just keep happening for the rest of her life? She was zapped again by the lasers when she tried to input a sequence to shut off some vents, and once again wasted some time.

But when that was done with, she noticed the large troll who helped her out before. She didn't catch their name... some kind stranger with a funny accent. Maybe he was from the far south or something. He looked in rough shape, as far as she could tell. Eostre briskly walked to him and waved. She opened her brooch and slipped out some of the small white pills, taking a few and placing them in his hands. "These will help," she said simply, not wanting to waste time or oxygen with idle chit-chat. She smiled, thinking about just how useful her new artifact was!

She really hated tedium. Eostre was sick of trying to press buttons, hem and haw about the best ones, only to be greeted by lasers or some more gas leaks. She slammed her fist into the panel, delighted to see it light up blue and remove a few red dots from the screen. Perfect! She almost laughed, but when the vent opened up above her head, she tried to cover her face as the toxic cloud sprayed down on her. It sent her into a coughing fit on the ground, and she tried to cover her mouth. Goddamnit, and she was so close...

Eostre thanked the purpleblood girl who healed her, wondering briefly about how so many of them seemed to be willing to help her. They might have thought, with her deceptively colored blood she was one of them. She never did feel the need to correct those who made assumptions about her blood color...

Again, the machine zapped at her when she tried to close more panels. Ugh, useless machine! She really hated machinery. If she permanently ended up with a burn on her sniffnode, she'd be really annoyed! She sniffed pitiably, thinking that it'd be a shame if her sense of smell was damaged too by this idiotic chemical leak.

Reemus is attacking the leak!

HP: 12/20
DMG: 2 +1 =3

Huffing and puffing after another break, Reemus returned to the room not looking like it helped any. Still tough to breathe, and his legs were getting wobbily. Someone came over, making him swivel a little. His heart sank a little when he noticed it wasn't Voscil. But he didn't frown under his bandanna. No, he might be disappointed but he wasn't upset. It was the blueblood from before! Without a word, she put some small objects in his hand and promised they would help.

Reemus blinked. He wasn't sure how she read his mind, but he swallowed them without a second thought. If he was a little smarter, he might have wondered why a royalist might help him in a place where he could easily pass out dead from mysterious substances.

But, he was Reemus, desperate and dopey. And, luckily, he did feel a little better not long after. He'd have to thank her later.

Reemus felt so good that after he got another zap, it didn't bother him too much.

Only slightly dissuaded by more shocks to his system, Reemus started pawing around some open drawers. He had the energy for it, and thought, why not? It was something he hadn't tried before. Reemus was game for anything at the moment. He kept looking, opening and closing and listening to what might be rolling or thudding around.

One drawer refused to open, as if locked. To hell with that! With a huge yank, he managed to pull out the knob and the drawer itself, and a book flew out of there. Reemus dropped the drawer, and kneeled to scoop up the item he had released.

M...man...u...al. Manual! That...sure was a something! Reemus took a moment to look at the pages. The pictures looked like they had something to do with the equipment. The words were...long. Anyway! Feeling rather chuffed, he ambled out before he might beef it on the floor again.

Someone else had the manual, and was trying to decode it. Just the fact that they could read the first page in a second showed that this was someone who might know what the hell they were doing. Reemus, on the other hand, was just happy to help. Maybe there was more to find if he tore the room up enough! How exciting.

Still pretty energized, he returned and started searching around. Soon, the big yellowblood found himself under a desk, with another strange panel. It seemed to be like the previous switch. Had no one found this? Why was it even here? Questions for another day.

Similarly, it had the option of vent out versus vent in. Again, it was a simple decision. They weren't dead yet, what was a few more chemicals in their bodies?

Natash Boelli & Angel
HP: 18/40

Angel's wheezing grew stronger as she sucked in the tainted air. Gnash ran around wildly, pressing buttons and hiding underneath her lusus, and crying from coughing spasms. Their delicate sea-dwelling biology couldn't handle this kind of airspace, it seemed. Especially for Natash, who struggled even more to keep up, feeling the sting of the air even in her fins. It made her wonder if it was some lowblood who had done this on purpose to hurt seadwellers. She wiped at her tears and wrote down more buttons, hoping that if she was just really quick, it would be over sooner and she wouldn't faint from the chemicals!

just a quick note i realized earlier that id been takin off 1 hp since the first roll when its actually every subsequent roll from getting the damage modifier and im too lazy to fix all my posts so im just not taking the 1 off this and callin it even

Was she a fast girl? She wasn't smart, and not clever enough to notice any patterns in the large array of blinking dots on the panel. Maybe she was strong, but how much of that was natural strength of a seadweller, and how much was augmented by her robotic limbs? Well, she was pretty fast when she was in the ocean, where she was made to be. But on land, she was flustered and found herself especially vulnerable as her lusus pressed against her, slamming her large tail against her and knocking her to the side as she chewed at the panels and buttons, trying to contain the gas leak.

She proudly pressed a handful of buttons, thinking they would turn off the vents and panels in a few rooms. Gnash waited a moment, then frowned as the lights turned red instead of blue. But it should work! She pounded her fist against the button again, only to see more red buttons pop up. Oh no... She started to panic and slam more buttons, which only made it worse and made her have trouble breathing as she breathed in more fumes. She got really lightheaded and kept slamming the buttons, frantic now and wanting the lights to go away. Why wasn't it working?
