Rachel spent the day trying on clothes and practicing the dance she was supposed to do. At least when she wasn't at her booth anyway.

Preacher fought to keep the incredulity off of her face as Axel spoke. She had begun it, so why was he going along with her lie? Maybe the blond guy did have some kind of hard-on for her; she shuddered. More likely, Axel was convinced he was doing the right thing. Gods, her ribs hurt. Things that had been a bad idea recently: a list by one Preacher, slum girl extraordinaire. 1. dancing while hurt 2. fighting while hurt 3. not finding anything to eat yesterday or today
... The list went on and on but Preacher stopped thinking. The only thing not on the list was taunting Axel. For a wild second, she only stared at his furiously blushing neck and almost giggled. Finally, she just shrugged. The movement caused her to sway and nearly topple. Preacher snapped her feet together. Adrenaline was ebbing from her body and Preacher just felt very, very tired. Through the muddled mess that was her brain, she realized she should make some effort or either refute or corroborate his story. Turning to Saga, she wobbled a bit, fixing bleary eyes on him. One of them was swelling shut, she could feel it, and she wondered when it had gotten hit. Axel, that b*****d. Her dislike of him was only dimmed by the aching pains from her injuries. One day, she'd take him on again, she vowed, and take him out.
"It's jus' as he says, Marshal. I shoulda been tha bigger man and not risen to that bait though." Preacher tried to inject some form of contrition in her voice. After all, she didn't want to be tossed out of the festival entirely. She probably only succeeded in not sounding defiant, which was a feat in of itself. Hmmm, if she unfocused her eyes just right, Saga and his horse blurred together to form some sort of weird mythbeast. Preacher shook her head and looked at her feet instead.

"He was in the military, and didn't come home." Alec answered her quietly as she asked him for more information. "Its..ok don't be sorry!" he replied quickly, a kind of automatic response. "It was a really long time ago, about 10 years now on a mission outside the walls. He..saved a lot of lives I guess. No one thinks of it that way, since these are peaceful times." Normally he wouldn't have said anything, but the subject of the animals and the how had come with the territory.
"Flash?" he repeated, looking at his horse then back to the raven-haired girl. Committing it to memory.
"Words are mixed up, its really a pain reading." He answered her confused blinking at him. The quiet thank you followed when Alec gave her a small, quick side hug for her kindness. With that he stepped up into the stirrups planting his boot firmly and pulling himself up onto Flash, settling on the saddle.
"A slaughter house you said by the way?" he asked Shankuntala as he encouraged Flash out into the open, continuing to talk with her. "At least something good came of it kinda?" Alec gestured to her mare she was with, and what it meant for them both today and tomorrow.

Marissa smiled at Cyril's comment. "Oh? You must be one of the boys he told me about then. I'm glad." She replied gently. "Thank you for your help. I know everyone busy, there's still some tidying up if you wish, otherwise I think we're fine." She directed this to everyone gathered around.
At the arrival of two new children the woman waved at them both. To Danny's announcement about driving them she tapped her finger to her chin. When Rikki joined them she smiled. "Of course, this should be a great show." She looked past the group to the others working hard on their projects.

"I-I see..." Shakuntala replied sorrowfully. Her mood had completely shifted upon her learning that Alec had grown up without a father. She wasn't as close to her parents as her older sister was, but at least both were still alive. The teen tried to hide her doleful look with a sheepish purse of her lips, but the empathy did fight through. Even worse, most spoke as if him as if he were nothing. "H-His sacrifice wasn't in vain..." the girl added. "I... I don't get why p-people speak so ill of soldiers... T-They're heroes..." She nodded her head at her statement. "Heroes... Yes. T-That's a good way to describe them... S-Speaking of which..." She swallowed. "I a-actually want to join the military... myself... I've never told anyone though..."
Rosalie let out a small huff and flicked her ear. The teen blinked and realized that she'd just been standing there with the mare. Clicking her tongue, the horse slowly ambled forward -- the thing she'd been waiting to do since the human atop her started talking.
Shakuntala didn't venture too far from Alec as she replied, "Oh... T-That's fine... My papa- father has trouble as well..." She added with a nod, "Yes, you're right. E-Even if I don't approve of, erhrm, killing in such a way, a-at least I learned to ride..."

Lenore was caught off guard as the little girl hugged her. "Uh..." Though she wasn't wearing it anymore, the girl figured she was referring to the costume. "Thanks, I guess?"
Turning to Farvardin, Lenore shrugged. "I could let the manager know, but he'd probably have me wear it again out of pride." She paused. "And that would be awful." Instinctively touching her lip, then wincing at the pain and her own stupidity, she nodded. "Just a little."

Day 4: The Parade begins!
***Regular Signups are Closed! Which means that if you wish to join the RP event from today onwards, your character will have to join as a costumed dancer, using this form:

Let's March! Username: Character: { Provide quest/journal link please! } Costume: { Come up with one, have fun 8D }
People in costume can just run over and join the costume troupe while the parade is still in progress.
The path along the canal was wide and clear from the outside of Wall Maria to its extension which surrounded Shinganshina. The silence of the morning turned into a buzz of excitement, the streetside lined with people of all ages and professions, still for the most part with a trickle of traffic behind them. Common was the sight of parents holding up their children for them to have a better view.
At the foot of the canal's gate into Wall Maria, the 100-year festival parade was about to begin. The procession stretched a long way, with almost 200 participants ready to march, without including volunteer security escorts.
The musicians in the troupes sounded their instruments, warming up. Costumed people appeared at times ridiculous, at other times proud and noble- but as a whole, everyone had managed to put together a beautiful work of art that would bring smiles from one end of the district to the next. They had worked hard to get to this point, and they shone with due pride.
The three decorative barges looked magnificent- the one from Utopia especially, decked in garlands, flowers and symbolism, flags of the patron figures of the walls streaming off of ropes joining the ends of the barge to the top of a mast where a glittering crown lay. Each barge was pulled by 18 men.
The other contribution from Sina, the Field Parade Marshal, sat tall upon his horse at the head of the parade. As everyone was in position, a Stationary Guardsman approached him with a flagpole held horizontally. Saga took it and hoisted it up, letting the king's banner wave dramatically in the wind. With a deep inhalation and smiling enthusiasm, he bellowed the starting signal. Cheers erupted from either side of the canal.
Ready, Set, MARCH!
And so begins the parade.
Prompt
Today is kind of a break for all ye busy folk! We've got minigames to play for three days following this one, so for today, I'm only asking for one post describing your character marching in the parade, and that will be your ticket for the 21st. You should be well-acquainted with your job by now. If you need a reminder, re-read the Day 1 post on page 1! Also, please add "Day 4" in bold to the top of your post!
**You can RP this out with others. No need to limit yourself to those in the same troupe, but if you break formation, er... it won't look pretty to the villagers! I only ask that you don't let more than an hour pass in the RP timeline, because on the 22nd, we will deal with an event that happens "shortly after the parade begins".
**You can also continue RP from yesterday (the 20th) but please precede your posts with a bolded Day 3.

The day of the parade had come. Shun wasn't really looking forward to this but he did want to get things over with. Given the current weather and the fact that he was going to be exherting himself a fair amount with the barge tugging, he opted to work without a top for the time being. A number of different scars could now be seen on his back and torso.
He gritted his teeth as he held onto the rope and pulled along with the others who were assigned to this task. He hadn't said a single thing yet.
If nothing else, perhaps this made for some good training.

Day 4
This was it! Time to get to work. Rachel had a bright smile on her face as the parade started to move down the street. She was standing between two people she only knew from practicing the dance, all dressed up in the costume. Her hair was a contrast to the blue and yellow of the dress but thankfully not a bad one and the feather hat was surprisingly comfortable. The fact that it would stay on while she moved as better however.
Soon enough it was the dancers turn to follow the route in the street and they started to dance to the music as they walked. Rachel kept up fairly well and she was glad for it. The movements were energetic, lighthearted, and over all fun to do. She hoped the people in the crowds watching were having just as much fun.

Day Three:
Nik had narrowly escaped becoming part of the all-out brawl that had taken place between a street urchin wannabe security guard and Axel. Though he felt little to no concern about whether the incredibly unstable barge was prepared to ‘dazzle’ the minds of the parade-goers, such meaningless distractions did grate on his nerves. Nobility rarely ever fought amongst themselves, and when they did it was in a much more dignified way than this. Luckily he had managed to choke back his frustration and instead focus it toward completing the tasks assigned to him, and by the time he snapped out of his bubble of concentration the fight had come to an end.
Balance having been seemingly restored he regrouped with others in the same field and slowly went down the checklist, item by item. But he was far from being at ease or feeling relaxed for the Utopia barge rested not too far from his current position. He constantly felt a sour sensation in his stomach as he worried about someone recognizing him. He knew he could blend in, come up with a suitable excuse of some kind that would keep prying eyes from him, but he would rather not have to deploy his social chameleon skills in front of so many onlookers. The thought of his, likely, harsh words reaching the ears of the likes of Alec or Favardin made him squirm.
He was certain he had managed to make others believe he was insane or that he was on the run from something due to his constant dodges and ducks when a noble passed by. He wanted to delay returning to that world for as long as he could and, not only that, but his father would definitely be upset to hear he was not doing something for the sake of elevating his political power.
Day Four:
Muscles he didn’t even know he had ached and strained from the work he had done the previous day, and he wasn’t finished yet. Today was the day he was supposed to pull the barge with eighteen other volunteers but, even with that number, he still felt it would be an understatement to say it was going to be a strenuous activity. For that reason he had chosen a more acceptable outfit, meaning that he wore clothes he wouldn’t mind perhaps messing up to the point of no repair. Rolling his shoulders in his socket and taking a deep breath he headed toward the ropes where a few had already taken up their positions.
Falling in behind the aloof man from the day before he followed his lead and hefted the rope over his shoulder and leaned hard into it. With a few groans, and the sensation of muscle fibers tearing, he felt something give and he was soon moving. Calling up to the black haired man in front of him he spoke through a strained rush of air. “How long do we do this again?” For the most part he knew better than to ask questions he did not wish to know the answer to, but his curiosity and the notion that he may pass out weighing on him, he could not restrain himself.

Day 3
"Heroes..." he looked at her, earning the girl a wide smile replacing any of his forlorn seriousness. The sad topic lead to feelings of blind, youthful aspiring hopes. Of dreams of a smiling face he could barely remember, and an organization that was like no other. "No, youre right! They were, no are heroes. Yes!" Alec sat up some straightening his shoulders. "I get so angry when anyone look down on the military..." He shook his head. "they are doing their duty too. Even the damn military police." He whispered, should anyone overhear him besides her. At the other girls swallow, and stammer as to what she planned to do Alec's expression softened. "You too?" She didn't look like she was starving, her dress a little worn. Shakuntala also didn't seem like the type for an ego trip.
"I wanted to as well..I'm really nervous I'm not going to lie. Hey, maybe we can tackle it together after the festival!" He chewed on his lower lip, thinking aloud. Casting a look back to Tala he shrugged a little. "That way -- its not so bad on us both?" He offered. Alec's mother knew of his plans, to think she was making this choice all on her own must have been overwhelming.
Flash gave a little trot, ears flicking forward glad for the activity. While he'd have preferred something a bit quicker, they were just getting a feel for things for tomorrow. The horses tail flicked, walking in an easy trot keeping pace with his companion.
"Yea, everyone has their short comings I guess. My step dad and me fight, so I get it." He frowned as she described her father. "So no one else knows, not even your family for real?" He asked in clarification to the military. They'd be ready for tomorrow he was certain, even as they walked they seemed to be getting the right rhythm down.

[Day 2 Prompts]
Prompt 1:
Lillian arrived at the area, doing her best to avoid eye contact with as many people as possible. She recognized barely anyone in the designated area, though that was of little surprise to her given how she usually avoided social events as if it was the plague. She was still annoyed she was sent here to volunteer by her father in the hopes she would magically find friends. Who needed friends, she had work to do. Important work. QUIET work. Work that was nowhere near loud noises and flashy game booths.
She paused, eying the volunteer for this particular area. Listening to the instructions she took a step back. She could dance. She read about many types of dances in the past, and knew what to do with a partner. She had no intention of dancing with a stranger however, and decided it would be better to watch from the sidelines rather than join in.
Prompt 2:
Dirt. They wanted her to move dirt. Not a little bit of dirt, but a giant bag of dirt. Not only that, but they wanted her to drag it. That sounded simple and barbarian enough. She had no qualms about getting dirty, but she still found herself questioning once again why she was there. Oh, right. Magical friendship. She sighed, walking up to a bag and gripping a hold of it.
She watched as the other volunteers either took their merry time in moving the bags, simply gave up, or lugged it across the field as a champion. Slowly, she dragged her own bag across the field at what she considered her own, steady pace. She wasn't the strongest of people but she could hold her own against the bag. Eventually, making it across the field, she dropped the bag and took the time to wipe the sweat off of her brow. She then proceeded to stare at the bag, almost as if she expected something impressive to happen.
"Well.. that was pointless. What next on this list of fun I wonder...?"
Prompt 3:
While it looked like she had struggled very little to pull the bag of dirt it didn't mean she couldn't still feel the after effects of lugging it across the field. She was tired of all things. She sighed, stretching out her back and shoulders before noticing the refreshments. Eying them, she reached out to grab one of the glasses of water then headed off to find out just what she would be volunteering for.
She wasn't looking forward to pulling more heavy objects, but then again she didn't even stay to try for the dance troupe. Part of her silently wished for some sort of observational job, maybe security? She could easily watch things and keep peace as long as she didn't have to make small talk.
Finally finding the signup booth, she quickly took the pen and signed herself up for security detail, having made up her mind.

still on Day 3
Saga didn't sound angry. He sounded ... well, Axel wasn't sure. Hopeful? The field parade marshal confused him, but at least he wasn't arresting anyone yet, which Axel had feared would happen. He raised his head, still avoiding eye contact with Preacher, to reply to Saga. "Yes. It's true." Looking at the marshal didn't make him blush, but he had trouble meeting Saga's eyes as well. Axel was a dreadful liar.
He ground his teeth when Preacher spoke in that revoltingly contrite voice. Axel had stepped up to take the blame, but Preacher's lies still rankled him.
He risked blushing and shot a look at Preacher, who was still swaying pitifully. Axel was in better shape, but he was still aching and stiff and out of breath. He looked away quickly.

((iiif you guys want to move on to Day 4 you can assume he will meekly do whatever Saga tells him to do (continue working or leave) and try to avoid Preacher like the plague))
Day 3 "Heh," Zin laughed gently, hugging the small girl back. "Thanks." She turned to Farvadin and explained, "There was a fight, unfortunately... I hope there won't be any problems tomorrow, at least. She saw Lenore wince in pain, and reached out to hold her hand, giving it a sympathetic squeeze. It was so unfair that Lenore had gotten hurt while she'd gotten away unscathed.
Day 4 The next day, Zin was feeling more excited and chipper than ever. She was clad in her uniform once again, marching in time to the drummer's beat in the trainee marching band. She grinned widely even as she stared straight ahead, and pride filled her heart. She could feel the stares of the civilians watching the parade; surely they were quite proud as well of the brave young trainees! The sounds of the cheers, drums, and clacking heels filled Zin's ears in a delightful cacophony. She seemed to absorb the excitement around her; it pulled her forward and gave her so much energy that she hoped that the parade would never end.

Day 4
Lenore sighed as she walked next to the other costumed monstrosities. They seemed to be having fun for the most part, but they probably weren't walking advertisements, either. Not that that was the only thing that annoyed Lenore. Mostly it was being dressed as a book. Why couldn't she be dressed as something humanoid in nature? Maybe a titan. A tiny titan. Then she could run up to a wallist and kick them in the shins for laughs. That would make this less tedious. However, the thought of shin kicking reminded her of yesterdays fight and she tentatively touched her swollen lip. Yup, still hurts. She had to stop testing that.

Shun supposed he should have expected some chatter to happen while they lugged this barge along.
"Until we reach the end of the parade," he grunted out. He wasn't sure how far they had to travel for that, but it was likely a fair assumption to think that they still had a good amount of distance to cover seeing how they had just begun, "You're not ready to pass out already are you?"
Now that he thought about it, he remembered that this one was the one who had been struggling to get across the field. Why he had decided to pick this job of all things was beyond him. In the very least, the guy was behind him so if he suddenly dropped, he wasn't too likely to trip over his body. Though, he wasn't too keen on the idea of losing manpower in this already arduous task.
