"Ryjer." She repeated, if only to get used to the name. "You're the first one I've met here. Well, besides the Goddess, but..." Her voice trailed off, again grabbing for another fragment a few spaces ahead. The moment her hands closed around it she heard a soft whisper brush past her mind.
I will save you.
"Huh." Marati opened her hands to see the fragment had left, just like the other one. She watched it for a moment, not quite pondering the phrase but more watching the softly glowing orbs in the distance, and then turned back to Ryjer, looking surprised.
"Oh. Sorry, I'm Marati. Nice to meet you!"

Hurt had no intention of risking the searing pain of running in the rain. Except she wanted to explore. Sourly, she kicked at the ground and noticed something sparkle. She clasped it in her hand and heard: Nice swing there.
Oh, so that's what these things did.

She walked along for a while without seeing too many glowing lights. There appeared to be more heading back towards the subway, but she didn't really want to go in there. It was dark, and it made her feel bad earlier...but she felt a little better now, and she wanted to hear more of the words, even if she didn't understand their meaning.

Soon he found himself chasing a fragment into an old bus car. It's light guiding him back, back and then he met the floor with a hard thump. "Nnnf.." Hitting hard he winced and lay on the ground for a moment before peering up towards the last sighting of the light. "No.." Disappointment was slowly edging into the word when sight of the fragment was lost.
Where had it gone?..What had he tripped over?
Peering towards his feet he noticed the protruding metal of the cars flooring sticking up, the luring light having blinded him of it before. A note was made to be more careful when following the fragments. Checking those he had on him he pushed from the ground and continued on.
Creaking sounds and the spatter of rain kept him from reaching out from under the tattered awning; the shards drifted away, flitted out of reach.

Alright so maybe there was a good reason for her to brave the acid and the flashing neon lights of the Ruins. At the very least, these fragments were entertaining. And look! Here's a second one~

This was where he should be. A subway, desolate in decay, littered with the remnants of something he couldn't recall. Here and there a scattered and discarded object which brought to the simmering surface of his mind words. A bike. A car. All tied to movement yet here stationary.
He stood in the rain for a time before it became unsettling and drove him to seek shelter, this place was not gentle or welcoming, but in some deep bitter way, he had a certainty that was simply the way the world was and to expect otherwise was a fool's errand.
A fragment of light hovered close to him in the shelter and he watched it for a time, like a cat fixed upon a laser pointer. When he pounced on it he found himself startled by a sudden phrase that seemed to bypass his ears entirely.
"Whit ur ye lookin at?"
He didn't recognise the voice, but for just a moment the lingering sting of the rain didn't seem so unbearable.

Hurt continued to hunt. Peering into nooks and crannies in search of more but so far all her efforts seemed to turn up nothing.

Just as he was about to leave the car a flicker caught his attention, leaping over a torn seat he tried to grab the fragment before it escaped though the broken cars window. But sadly...he had failed and ended up with a face full of old grey seat.
"Marati... that's a pretty name!" Ryjer beamed as he lunged for another one, but it slipped through his fingers once again. "Oh, come on you silly things!"

She'd noticed there were a fair number of shades clustering about and figured she could try her luck. And indeed, she was lucky to snag another sparkling shard: Go away! Apparently the shard didn't think it was so lucky that Hurt caught it.

If it were at all possible, Marati blushed.
"Oh. Um. Thank you! That's very sweet..." She trailed off, finding a lovely distraction with a little fragment floating nearby, mostly hidden behind a rusted old turnstyle. Grey hands made a grab for it, and with another warm flash came another word -
Scarf.
Scarf? Well, that was something indeed. Marati returned to her own thoughts just in time to hear Ryjer's mild frustration, and gave him a curious look. "Hey, do you think we could like...trap them? Like, work together and catch them that way?"
