She opened a cage and started putting the bird in it. The bird shook its head quite snootily, apparently disagreeing with her choice of cage.
"What, you don't like his one?!" she said, letting out a frustrated sigh. These minipets were NOT as easy as that announcement had made them out to be. The bird shook its head again and she grumbled, "Fine, we'll find you another one."

Ami selected a blue- her favorite color- cage, and held the bird up to it. It squawked and flapped its wings a few time, which Ami took as a yes. She rolled her eyes and pushed the bird into it, and then locked it so the bird couldn't escape again.
"Okay, are we all happy now?" Ami said in a far more angry tone than she should have been using with a bird.

She turned around, realizing the booth owner had seen that entire escapade.

"Ah ... sorry about that," she managed to get out. Maybe this was an opportunity though? "I just uh ... love birds! You know ... birds are great ... and all." Ami was really bad at socializing, if you hadn't noticed. "Is there any chance I could ... take one of these?"Quote: Ami looks like this (bakeneko)

"Ouu...okay." Tomoko brightened at the positive reinforcement from the reaper, but still fidgeted nervously at her skirt. It was hard to feel safe when she wasn't keeping her ball of stars with her, after all. It was like leaving her heart buried in a treasure chest somewhere.
Or something.
"I'm..umm..Tomoko." she answered with a small blush. Compliments weren't common outside of the 'Cute' range. As she was very cute. Desu ne ne ne.kurotomato Flamboyant Foxfire mehbeh? *not sure of choices*

With one vice president candidate booth out of the way, Alexander decided it would be best to visit the other one as well. The boil behind the booth was incredibly polite, and Alex offered him a smile in return to the greeting and a nod before having a look around, eyeing the assorted memorabilia and reading up on the information provided.
It was as he was perusing the details of the booth that he noticed three cages hanging above, empty. Alex frowned to himself, and had a quick glance around, spying a very fancy looking bird type minipet. He figured, since it was so nearby, that it had perhaps escaped, and moved to try and recapture it.
Unfortunatly the bird had seen him coming, and moved much too quickly for the zomboil to follow, though it didn't move far, just enough that Alex had missed when he had reached out to grasp it.

Alex stopped to stare at the bird for some time, and then took another shuffling step forward, slower now, trying not to startle it. That seemed to work out much better for him, as the bird looked at him but stayed perfectly still, even as he bent down and very gently wrapped his hands around it before lifting it up to his chest. It smelt delicious and his mouth was watering quite a bit by the time he turned around and made his way back towards the cages, but he was very aware that this was somebodies pet and likely not meant for consumption.

As he neared the cages he lifted the bird up above his head, gently yet firmly attempting to shove the overly fancified and colorfully plumaged bird into one of the open cages. It began to put up quite a fuss as it neared the open cage door, however, squirming and wriggling within Alex's grasp to the point where he either needed to tighten his grip and possibly hurt it or let it go. Not wanting to do either he stopped and retreated from the cage until the bird settled down once more.

Okay, the bird was finally quiet again. It was time to try and get it in the cage.
Of course, Alexander had no idea that the poultry might actually care what cage it got stuck into, so he again attempted to put it in the same one as before. Again the bird began to struggle, and again he had to stop, growling out his frustrations beneath his breath.

This time the bird was going into the cage whether it liked it or not. Alex would make sure of it! And again, since it was not obvious to him yet that maybe, just maybe the bird really really did not want to go in that particular cage, the zomboil continued to try and shove it in, struggling through the entire ordeal as the bird squawked and flapped it's wings and waved it's clawed feet in the air.
This was getting ridiculous. Did he hear somebody laughing at him in the background?

It was a good thing Alexander was incredibly stubborn, or he might have thrown the bird against the side of the booth by now and stormed off in a huff. Here he was, just trying to be helpful, and the bird was not cooperating at all.
He didn't even try to put it in the cage this time, he just sat on the ground with it on his lap and stroked it on the head a few times, trying to gentle and tame the creature enough that maybe it would fly into the cage on it's own with none of his help whatsoever.

Well little birdy, are you ready to get back in your cage now? Alexander really wants to go and do some other things.
Nope? Okay then, we can just sit back down on the ground and lean against the booth and contemplate where things went wrong together.

If Alex had any tears left in him, he would be shedding them right now. Why birdy. Why won't you get back in your cage? Is it just that you like being held by a zombie this much? Does the smell not bother you in the slightest? Are you not at all concerned by that little bit of drool that Alex just had to wipe off of the corner of his mouth with his sleeve?
No? Okay then.

It was okay, really. By now Alexander was pretty much used to failing everything and everybody in some way. Maybe he could just pay this Sparrow guy a whole bunch of silver seeds and the bird could come and live with him instead. It really seemed to like him, at least.

Just Alex and his best bird buddy Balthazar here, sitting on the ground, becoming great chums. Never mind that the zomboil was thinking of all the different ways of cooking said bird. Nope. That was not important at this point.
