"A what?" came the whisper in reply. She didn't want to scare whatever-it-was away. "Think we have enough to give it one?"
PostPosted: Mon Feb 20, 2012 10:36 pm

"Its a slender, long pokemon with short legs and bands of alternating dark and light fur, smaller than a Growlithe. And we don't need to give it our fish, it will be just as happy with the parts that we aren't using," Shina told the other girl. Grabbing the head from the first fish, she tossed it to the Furret, and quickly began cleaning the second fish.

"I'll just toss the parts of the fish we won't be using to the Furret, and keep the parts we do want. Both of us win that way." The Furret grabbed the fish head and darted back into the grass, crunching noises emanating from the brush.

"Is that one of those...um...."wild" ones I've been hearing about?" Shikari inquired, still quiet. "It sounds cute."
PostPosted: Mon Feb 20, 2012 10:55 pm

"Yes, it's wild. Though my guess is it isn't quite as wild as it could be. It probably hangs out around this campsite, begging or stealing scraps when there are campers here." The creamy head poked out again, with a hopeful trill.

"Hear that? It's actively trying to be cute. It knows that cute pokemon get more treats." Shina finished cubing the second fish, and tossed the head from that fish to the Furret before starting on the next fish.

"Huh." She took a fish and gutted it. She'd never bothered skinning or boning them, so she'd leave that part to Shina, but she could at least be helpful. "Seems hungry."

"Thanks," Shina said, letting Shikari take over gutting the fish. The two of them worked quickly, and soon Shina was finishing the last fish. By now the Furret had emerged entirely from the grass, and was happily chewing on another fish head. "She probably is hungry, most wild pokemon spend the majority of their time searching for food. Finding an easy food source like our fish scraps will probably be the highlight of her day. We should leave so she can eat the rest of the scraps, and we can get our part of the fish cooking," Shina said, washing her hands in the river before standing and picking up the bucket of cubed fish.

"Oh, okay." As Shikari stood up, her hand brushed something - a nice, smooth, artistically twisted piece of driftwood. She picked it up. The end reached the ground held comfortably in her hand. "Hey, can I use this? For the uh...the uh..." she couldn't recall what it was it had been called for several seconds. "Oh!" She snapped her fingers in recognition. "The CANE. Would it work for that?"

Yane nods at Flint's words, but can't exactly reach any of her treats with her hands full of wood. "When we get back to camp I'll see what I've got for her." Just when she bends down to grab up another piece, Maya jumps down to help them. Not an unusual sight, but Yane stops anyway to watch, a silly grin on her face. Maya was just too cute scurrying around picking up twigs. "Thank you, Maya."

She continues with her task, picking up wood until her arms are too full to grab any more. "I'll go drop this off and be back." Good thing the cooking fire is bright, no worries of getting lost. Yane heads toward the beacon.

"Sure!" Shina said brightly. "That looks perfect! When we get to Motterossa, we will get you a collapsible one, but that should be a good choice for using in the meantime. From what I've read, the basic idea is to sweep back and forth in front of you, with the cane just barely touching the ground. And don't be too aggressive in your sweeps, you might hit someone if they aren't paying attention and don't move out of your way," Shina advised. "Here, I'll go first, and you can follow the sound of my movements and voice. See if the cane helps at all." Shina moved ahead, instead of staying right with the other girl to lead her like she had earlier.

Meanwhile, the Furret darted forward, eagerly gobbling the fish scraps left behind. Mmmm, food, and so easily. Maybe the humans had more?

Shikari shook the cane in a laughing mock threat. "I might just do that, someone gets in my way!"

She picked it up fairly easily. By the time they got back to camp, she was feeling much more free. "No more falling over things! I love it!"

"That's great!" Shina said happily. "Oh, be careful to keep your new cane away from the fire. We wouldn't want it to get burnt the first day you had it." Going over to the soup pot, she dumped the cubed fish in, then gave the whole thing a stir. Carrots from Heal, peeled cattail shoots, wild onions, watercress, was that clover? Huh, they had seen that huge patch a while back, but Shina hadn't realized that someone had thought to harvest some of the surprisingly high protein plant. A number of other edible plants met Shina's eyes as she stirred the pot, and she felt satisfied that they would have a good meal that night. It would still need to cook a while longer, but it should be tasty.

The Furret finished her fish scraps, cleaned her paws and muzzle, then followed hopefully after the human that had fed her. She had heard the human say that cute pokemon got more treats. She could be cute, especially if it meant treats!

Shikari sat down a little ways from the fire and nodded over her shoulder. "I think a small someone followed us," she grinned. "Whaddaya want to do about it?"

"What?" Shina turned.

The human was looking! Time to be cute! She rose up on her hind legs, front paws held close to her chest, and looked sideways at the human. "Uuuurrrrr?" Furret trilled, making the cute noise that had gotten it food before. Dropping down, she walked a few steps closer, and sat back up. "Ret?" She cocked her head to one side. Was she being cute enough?

"You're right, the Furret followed us. She's being very friendly."

After cutting vegetables and various plants, Heal had busy himself with letting out Tripod, a three legged shiny luxio, and getting food ready for both his pokemon. He stopped hidding treats in the food when he saw Shina and Shikari, the blind girl, come back with the fishes. "You brought a friend along?" He chuckled as he spotted what they were talking about. "You two should know better then to feed the wild life." He gave a mockingly stern tone before grabbing a berry and throwing it close to the furret. "She seems use to human company tho..."

Tripod sniffed towards the cooking soup, obviously smelling the fish not only being cooked, but from the scent traces all over Shina. He nuzzled his nose against her arms, gently, meowing, and trying to lick her palms as if he would find fish there.
Arthmael rolled his eyes at the juveline pokemon and gave a bark against such behavior before settling his eyes on the wild pokemon, giving a low warning growl.

Shina giggled at the ticklish sensation of Tripod's licking. "We just let her have the fish scraps. I was going to toss them into the river, but it seemed mean to do that with her right there watching," Shina protested.

Furret snatched the berry and gobbled it before someone could take it from her. Her nose wrinkled as she sniffed avidly. She smelled more food, and that human that fed her seemed to be in charge of it. Was this human in charge of the human pack's food? Furret sidled closer, taking care to be non-threatening and cute.
