Revan Maxwell Tyson looked up at the older man, and from the face and features figures this had to be Mae's father. Taking another dumpling in hand, he was about to answer him verbally, but his throat felt like it was about to peel from the inside out from using his power so much. So he simply nodded to man. He held his hand up and formed it to look like he was holding a glass and made a motion asking for a drink. He then popped the next dumpling in his mouth. Mae gave him a smile and slipped up from her seat and headed back to the kitchen. She came back a moment later with a glass of water and set it in front of him. "And more dumplings, Mae, or bring spring rolls, you like spring rolls, yes, boy?" The old man made a gruff noise, as if it would be inappropriate not to like spring rolls. Mae gave him a look but turned back to the kitchen. The old man chuckled as his daughter left. "It is better she be angry right now. He would not Mae so sad." He let out a long weary sigh as if releasing a year's worth of weight through the breath. "You are in danger, you know. And not because of the body. You are not the only special boy to become special. Not in this city. The man you found. He died because he was like you. Like us."

Rook's gut twisted with anxiety mulling over his options, until he turned back to the group. "Maya, Jeffery and Lou. We're going to go, we're going to figure out what's going on. If that storm's because of a random super on the streets, we gotta save him or the Keepers are going to kill him. If that's a Keeper, that means they found Kat and the others, and are using that storm to cover their operations. Either way, we're needed, Marcus, do we have an extra car? Roxanna said Sam destroyed the SUV, so we need a ride."
Marcus shook his head. "Not here. I can have one of the Guard bring one here."
"Not to the penthouse. Have them drop it off a few blocks away. There's a diner nearby. Have them leave it there. Treat them to a meal. We'll be back with the car before they're done."
((I'm going to commandeer Maya until Skulblanka can join us again. He/she's folks are kinda anti-Gaia.))
Maya grinned, swiftly re-assembling the crossbow, the bolt's excitement at the prospect of being fired renewed.
"Jesus tits, Maya! Relax with the crossbow. Damn thing's making me nervous..." Rook shot her a look, before turning to Marcus again, who had since dialed up for a car to be delivered to the local diner.
Lou remained silent, although he had since tensed up in anticipation of action.
Marcus hung up the phone, nodding to Rook. "They're on their way. The car is on 45th and Cobb, headed towards the diner. The driver thinks it will be five minutes."
"Alright. Grab a raincoat, folks, and let's get going!"

Tyson sipped at the cold water and let it very slowly trickle down his parched throat. It was cool to him, and it was just what he needed to keep talking. Placing the glass down, he glanced back at the old man as went on about spring rolls.Tyson had never had those either, but he smiled delightfully at the thought of more free food. His smile dwindled a little at hearing him talk about Mae being sad, but that was only because that was a much more serious matter than food. Then the older man caught him. Like us? he mouthed the words but he didn't say anything.
His eye became locked on the old man. "I figured from the letter there were more." He took another slow sip of his water before continuing. "What i want to know is, what was the letter talking about? Blues? The Keepers? The Oak? Who are they?"

The old man picked up a menu that was sitting on the table and slid it towards Tyson. He then tapped his finger three times over the picture on the front. The dragon. "The Keepers are those who have sought for many many years to keep people safe and certain abilities in check. At one time I considered them guardian, friend even, but things have changed. They now smother what they would protect. You have gifts, yes, as do I. As did the man who wrote the letter. The keepers wish to keep all gifts and destroy those that cannot be kept."
The man moved his hand to the letter on the table, tapping it like he did the menu. "Our friend was spy for us among the keepers. This letter tells of what they will do to the island. The blues are a group who are strong with the mind, many psychics. A spies worst enemy. As for the Oak, she is an old cranky woman who gives soup and shelter to those who find her door. She dwells on the mainland, however, where it is safer."

Roxanna watched as they got ready, she kept her hands close to her side, a slight worried look falling over her face. "Would you like me to come with you?"

Rook paused, turning to look at her. "We might be going into a hot situation... You sure want to get mixed up in that?"

"Are we sure this isn't a random storm?" Jeffery piped up, making to leave with them. "We are on an island, storms happen. Let's not assume they've got someone going to hit us with an ice age."

Roxanna shook her head. "I'm not sure if it's random or not. If it's just a random storm, though, it still wouldn't hurt to go and pick them up. I'm sure they would prefer to be dry."

Rook looked to Jeffery. "It could be, in honesty. But, do we need to check to see if it is random or not. "

"Grabbed my coat, by the door. I didn't say we shouldn't go, let's just not jump to conclusions. Could be they have a guy that can feed Roxanna's power wrong information just as well."

Roxanna gave him an odd look and pointed to the window "but we know it's raini...oh you meant the car blowing up. No, I don't think I could get false information...but there have been stranger powers out there."

((Jeffery is saying that it's just as likely they they have someone who can lie to the senses as it is that they have a weather witch, both being without precedent. Yes, it's raining, but still))

And for the sake of moving things along Roxanna also went and got her coat, but paused as she realized she was still wearing a bathrobe. "On second thought, I should probably stay here and man the base. You'll need the room in the vehicle if you'll be picking people up. Be sure to call me when you get them....though I may not answer, I usually don't take the phone into the water with me."
