Southern_cross_nemesis deadmanjay Southern_cross_nemesis I have been trying a five day boost thingy, only to reach day five's video... and discover something. The video told us to think of something we love about ourselves. It called it an, Manta... or something like that. The question has come up before, and each time I go brain dead... There isn't a thing, I even remotely like about myself. This is what the gurus or self help people are generally talking about I am not good enough... I may get A's on my classwork and test, but not smart enough.... I don't even know why people like me... When people talk about mantras, they generally dont care if you actually think, as long as you say it. Positive reinforcement or something. Watch more videos of Stuart to see how lame it is to be told to do something like that. if I did it, it would be: Im better than you I dont care about you And gosh damn it, I dont care if people like me.

I prefer not... it sounds way to much like TPI's stratages for success courses I had to take. I passed that course and tossed the material in the fire. I am not graduating because of some positive reinforcement bs... I am doing so, in the memory of my mother, and it was her wish to see me graduate. I would like to think the reason I am doing so well is because it is tied in to God's plan somehow.... but I don't know.

And here I thought, I left all the books in my backpack. sweatdrop nothing against the post. Just after last night(15 minutes after my brother got home, he tells me that he is taking Tatum, my two year old nephew, to the hospital... and nothing more until 4 this morning... needless to say, I didn't sleep much), then go to classes and read four chapters....Long thing short I am going to have to re-read it when my eye's aren't blurry. Oh, before anyone asks... my nephew had a high temp, but I guess he is fine now. As he is running around with daddy.

Eltanin Sadachbia Again, I am sorry if this is overload... Believe me, it isn't an overload. I have 12 chapters to read a week, for homework, and I am entering into a field where reading is a must [just wish I could read faster...]. And reading is one of the few things, I enjoy doing... somewhat. There is just a few things that I wanted to point out, and seek clerification. Also, I apologize for any misspellings, my firefox isn't working properly. So this is being typed out on Internet Explorer. Quote: Sometimes, something that seems senseless requires action on our parts for its purpose to actually serve... How does one know what God needs from us? In the bible there are numberless of cases where God said to someone ... do x. Even Saul heard God, before he became Paul. Quote: Loving everyone is not watching the news and getting depressed by all the people suffering,... Not really needs clearifing, just saying that I don't get depressed by watching the news. I get depressed lately listening to contemporary christian music, and to some extent going to church. Well when I leave church, when all the hermons and such die down. Quote: ...you will find that your spirit will start to strengthen... The problems you have will heal quicker... and when they are especially hard, you will have more support to get you through them... Your the first to say that, last weekend at church. The message was some what the same, though they was talking more about instantanous faith healing.....

Southern_cross_nemesis How does one know what God needs from us? In the bible there are numberless of cases where God said to someone ... do x. Even Saul heard God, before he became Paul. Well, the best way to know is to recognize how God communicates with you... If you have problems knowing how to listen, then normally you have been relying on others telling you what God wants from you for too long...
When you are at the point where you can't feel God's direction, then you need to do what you yourself notices needs doing... It doesn't take God telling you if you see someone who is hurting and needing love, that you need to go help them and love them...
Think of it like when you were younger, and your parents were not within immediate hearing distance when you got home from school... You had things you were supposed to do everyday didn't you? Whether mom and dad were there or not, you knew there were specific duties you needed to do whether they told you everyday, left you a list, or expected you to do those chores without being told...
I remember times where I would get easily distracted... Mom would remind me, and I would procrastinate, and mom would remind me, but I still wouldn't do what I needed to... Eventually, mom would get tired of reminding me to do what I already knew I was supposed to do. She would almost stop talking to me altogether... Then, when I would ask for a privilege, or a next chore on her list, or sometimes just want to talk, mom wouldn't have much to say to me...
Eventually, I would get the hint and get my butt in gear and do what I needed to do... When I was done, things returned to normal... Mom would tell me what was next.
If you don't know what God wants you to do by telling you directly, then He is waiting for you to do what you know needs to be done... I can't really come out and tell you what you need to do, because I don't know... but I do know that we are all called to show love and help whoever we come across in whatever way we can... The easiest answer I can give you is to go out and do, not sit inside and worry about what your not doing.
Go out and buy a few groceries for a needy family; Take someone who needs a pick-me-up to lunch; Find a lonely older person in the park and let them talk to you to relieve their loneliness for a little while; Find someone who seems shunned by the rest of the world and show them they are just as worthy of your notice as anyone; Let the person who just walked up behind you in the checkout lane with one item go in front of you; Volunteer at a shelter, mission, soup kitchen, or other humanitarian cause; Find whatever way you can whether it be big or small to make somebody's day a little better.
The one thing that will show God you are ready and willing to listen, if he HAS stopped talking and started waiting for your attention, is to take your attention away from yourself, and focus it on actually DOING for others...
... AND YES, there are time that we hear of, where God pretty much b***h-smacks someone to gain their attention, but it's not ever really pretty... You REALLY want that, when you already have the chore list left for you? Saul got smacked to the ground so hard he went blind! (well, kinda)... And even when he DID come around to realizing what an a** he was, he still didn't know EVERYTHING he was supposed to do...
But at the same time, he didn't know the chore list yet, and he was would become one of the main instruments to write the list down for everyone else... He was such a douche that he wouldn't have listened to God if God hadn't of roughed him up a bit... But you are smarter than Saul/Paul was at that time, and you have more knowledge of God at your disposal at this point in your life than Saul had at that point in his life...
Anyways, if God is quiet, then take up your chore list, and start working from it. Do what you see needs doing until you here from God. He'll speak up when He needs to. In the mean time, keep bettering yourself so you will be better equipped to help others.
You also must realize, that sometimes, God doesn't speak, not because you aren't listening, but because you are doing what you need to do...
... but I get the distinct feeling that you might be a little bit of distracted, along with a little bit of heading the direction you were meant to go in anyway.Southern_cross_nemesis Not really needs clearifing, just saying that I don't get depressed by watching the news. I get depressed lately listening to contemporary christian music, and to some extent going to church. Well when I leave church, when all the hermons and such die down. You aren't the only one who gets depressed at Christian Music sometimes... I have to admit I do too.
Sometimes, I know the common keys used in most Christian music are what strikes my blue moods, but I also get tired of listen to how much of a loser I was before God saved me... Allot of Christian music seems to have a subconscious guilt trip woven into the theme... When we become Christians, we are supposed to leave the past behind us and become new, but much of what we here from the community as a whole deals with where we came from...
Allot of the music is straight up selfish... I was lost, I was found, I was a sinner, now I am saved.... I praise you, I lift you up (that one makes smirk), I worship, I honor... Etc... and there are allot of 'me's' in there too...
In fact, when I used to run the screens at church, my friend and I did a quick search through the lyrics typed into the computer, and found more instances of the word "I" than the words "God", "Lord", and "Jesus" put together... and the word "me" had more instances than any word referring to God.
If this trend really holds true across the Christian music spectrum, I would say that Christian music would more fit the description of LeVayan music.
... And then there is the mortality focus in some of it too, which although it really isn't specific, your subconscious latches on to it and it can be especially hard when someone is dealing with a recent death.
If you need to listen to Christian music, keep it upbeat, and stay away from things that say I very much... You can't really avoid it, but you can limit it to some extent...
Southern_cross_nemesis Your the first to say that, last weekend at church. The message was some what the same, though they was talking more about instantanous faith healing..... I can tell you now that I am not one who fully supports a congregation focusing on faith healing, but that is an argument for another thread... Which really I don't have time to keep up with sweatdrop ... But I do believe in it and have seen instances where people have fully recovered from afflictions because they believed...
Yet you also must remember that I believe things happen for a purpose, and not everyone who has a physical affliction is meant to be done with it... Even Paul had a thorn in his side that stayed with him until he died...
But Love works a bit like faith... Once you get the hang of it, it kinda snowballs. The more you have, the more you seem capable of giving... At the same time, if you get distracted from it, it can disappear real fast...That's why it's important to keep the right attitude.

I shall try... with the chore thingy. As with the music part, to be honest it isn't the only kind of music that does that. I have a whole list of styles I can't listen to... I think I have a few songs on my laptop[that has over 131 hours of music] That I can listen to and not be effected, negativaly... and those few I use to work out with. And not a single one I would call christiany what you stated with faith healing makes more sense than the church did...
