Estel chuckled in amusement. "Well, if you could see all there was to see in a single afternoon, it wouldn't be much of a city, would it?"
In Lothiriel's arms, Celebrindor began to whimper softly, and Lothiriel began to rock him gently, humming softly to him. "I'm afraid I may not be able to be of much company for long," she said apologetically to Lin.

Lin smiled softly and shook her head, "It's fine Lothiriel, Celebrindor is getting hungry?"
She understood at least a bit about babies from Aliya and from Elnara so the concept wasn't so foreign to her like it had when she was a Surprise.

Lothiriel nodded, shifting the infant carefully in her arms. "Usually I feed him right after Elia goes to sleep," she explained, "but tonight we waited for you and Amora to come home, so ..."
"And a baby off-schedule is a baby to fear," Estel said solemnly. "Go ahead, dear, I do have to sleep tonight after all." He grinned at Lothiriel, almost teasingly, but there was a look in his eye that showed his love for both her and the child in question.
Lothriel giggled. "Very well then. I'll say good-night to Pengolodh first though." She rose from her seat carefully and headed over to Lin, and gave her a one-armed hug. "I'll see you again in the morning," she murmured.

Lin gently hugged back murmuring, "See you in the morning, have a good night."
She felt a bit bad to having let that happen, it was her after all that just had to have that custom, which was why they were late.

"Good night, Mother," Amora smiled rising to get a hug of her own before Lothriel headed off for good. Once she was gone, Amora smiled at Lin. "Don't worry about us being late," she assured her, "we'll have all sorts of time to do everything in the next few days."
"Don't forget about your lessons," Estel reminded his daughter, arching one eyebrow. "And I don't mean your studies. I mean your training."
Amora blushed. "Ada ..."

Lin raised a brow at that, she wondered then if Amora and Pen had opposite problems, that she would rather study than do training, like the way Pen would rather train than do studies.
"Amora did say she would do her lessons in the morning," Lin assured Estel.
Though she wasn't sure how long lessons took, Lin never had a very structured learning system until Vincent came into her life and even then with all her travels and trying new things it was never that structured.

Estel chuckled softly. "And I imagine it was studies that take place in the library, yes?"
"Does archery count?" Amora asked quickly, before Lin could even answer. There was a certain desperation to her tone, and her eyes were slightly wide with something akin to panic.
The king shook his head. "Swords. I know you don't like it, but it's important."

It was pretty hard not to notice the desperate tone to Amora's voice. To which Lin had to wonder why, swords couldn't be that bad right? Sure being whacked with the flat of the blade wasn't fun (or upside the head for that matter), but it wasn't all that bad.
"Do.... blades make you nervous?" Lin inquired softly.

Amora's face turned a bright shade of red, and she looked down at her plate self-consciously. "Well ... not ... not all blades ..."
Estel watched his daughter closely. "Amora had an accident several years ago when she was practicing with her sword," he explained to Lin. "She likes knives well enough, but since then she hasn't been willing to use a sword."
"They're too heavy to control properly," Amora muttered under her breath.

Lin heard, but then it wasn't like she was whispering it. Though she guess she could kind of understand, had she not been waiting to travel within the Fourlands Lin would suspect she would never pick up a sword. She also couldn't blame Amora for being nervous around one after losing control.
"But.... if you don't practice, your arms won't get stronger and it'll always be too heavy to control properly," Lin pointed out, "Well... I guess you could also do push ups and the like to get your arms stronger....."
Or a lighter sword she figured, but no matter how light, metal was still quite heavy.

"I'm strong," Amora said quickly in her own defense. "I can use bows that Pengolodh can't even bend, and I'm excellent at climbing, and I can lift a lot ..."
Estel nodded. "She just can't control a sword," he concluded for her. He looked at Lin seriously. "I think a good part of it is that she's not willing to try. Amora, if you would applky yourself as you do to your studies, I'm sure you would do just fine."
Amora frowned and fiddled with her fork, but she was silent.

Lin looked thoughtful, it made sense, she supposed she took advantage of the fact she couldn't imagine now not having a blade (even though she nearly didn't because of her father).
"Amora would you like me to be there for that lesson?" Lin inquired, "I don't know if I can help, but it hasn't been that long since I've been a student."
Growing up like that does that, but then she added.
"Not that, that ever stopped me being a student every time I entered the dojo, but well..." she still got her butt handed to her by Vincent or her father.
They had years experience though, even Triton had years experience in his own way.

Amora shrugged one shoulder. "If you'd like to come," she mumbled.
Estel looked hard at his daughter, and when she didn't pay any attention to him he cleared his throat. "Amora."
Amora straightened in her chair and cleared her throat softly. "One hour?"
"Two."
Amora blinked. "But I-" She caught herself and bowed her head. "Yes, Father."

Poor Amora Lin thought, she really didn't like sword work at all, and while Lin would never force anyone to like anything (after all she wasn't overly fond of book studies), she also didn't want Amora be so... nervous about it.
Scared was probably more the term, that's what it seemed like to her.
"I would like to come," Lin replied, "It'll be interesting to be learning in an different environment. It'll be fine Amora, once you're more comfortable then it won't seem so hard."

"Thank you," Amora murmured softly, smiling faintly at Lin. "It will be just you and Lord Elwin and I, I no longer train with anyone else ... not the sword, at any rate."
And really it was the only thing she still needed training with. Her specialty was the bow, and she was extremely talented with it - gifted, many said. As if she could speak to the arrow and it would go where she willed it to.
"And I will be sure to let him know that you're coming," Estel said with a satisfied smile on his face. "Directly after breakfast."
