Firewolfblue spanishnerd99 wow! erano italiani? surprised burning_eyes che strano! neutral aha, ho imparato molte frasi così ("fanculo", "vai a fare in culo," etc...) dal libro che ho comprato ieri. si chiama "Streetwise Italian". Mi piace molto. heart heart heart Anyway, I wanna tell you about something in the bookstore, but it was a pleasant experience. I went with my daddy and my little sister because he wanted to look for some books on the Florida Keys. (where we're going on vacation) So I had a lot of money with me and a gift card, and I dragged my sis to the Lanaguage section. Unlike the stores I'd been to before, it had rows and rows and rows of books! 4laugh The had A LOT of Italian stuff. I was looking for a dictionary and a couple books. At that time, I heard a woman behind me looking for Italian books to. Then I hear her say to whoever she's with, "go get her." Then she says to me, "So you're learning Italian, too, huh?" I got up and said, "yes, I'm teaching myself." She says, "that's great! My husband's from Italy and we're trying to help our grandaughter get interested." So the woman leaves and comes back with her husband and grandaughter, and tells him that I'm teaching it to myself. He was really friendly and happy to hear it. mrgreen We talked for quite a while. Turns out he's from Milan, he's been living in New York for 5 years, and he's traveled a lot on business, to places like Paris, London, and Madrid. All this while the grandma was looking with the girl! (The girl was already learning French by the way) During our conversation he made some linguisitc points that I never thought of before. One thing he said, "With English, you can start speaking right away, but with languages like Italian, you have to learn some grammar first." Totally true, and I never realized it! biggrin Lol, I'm attacking you with one of the only awesome moments of my life. whee

That' s true, it never occurred to me...yup, it's because of words' "declination" by genre and "number"(sing. or pl.)...and the verbs....!
Ah, the pleasure of being in such a big bookstore 4laugh When I'm in Castiglione I really miss Bologna's bookshops! My own library is bigger than the city's emo Non c'è niente da fare, Castiglione mi fa troppo schifo
Spero tu abbia molti altri incontri simili! 3nodding heart The book is amazing. There was a Spanish version, too, but I found another I liked better. Ok, I be sure to do so! cool lol Thanks. No, the only words I spoke were "arrividerLa" and "piacere" when they left. I always get nervous, and I had already told him I don't speak very well yet, hehe. 4laugh That grandaughter is luckier than she'll know! Yes, I guess English is easiest to speak. But I don't mind. whee I'm sorry the city library is a dud. There was a huge issue about shutting down libraries in my state. It was a catastrophe. sweatdrop anch'io. mia sorella ha pensato che quella conversazione era divertente! 4laugh

Sì, me l'avevi detto, le ho anche dato un'occhiata (I "glanced" at it), ma qui mi diverto di più,posso parlare inglese, francese, tedesco, giapponese...oltre che in italiano xd mrgreen ah, allora sono felice che ti piaccia tanto. ho ancora paura di iscrivirmi. sad ho visto gente che voglio conoscere, ma sento che non sono pronta!
Ah,ma già usi il congiuntivo! Sei già più brava di molti Italiani, fidati, ho sentito certi strafalcioni linguistici in giro da far accapponare la pelle ninja (=I heard so many linguistic "blunders"(?) from Italian people I got "goose-flesh") 3nodding So un po'...apprendimento in corso. whee (I think blunders is spelled right, and I think you mean "goosebumps". But that's ok, I hear some peeps say "goose skin")

Elisa Tu mai ha imparato una lingua che usa una "fermata Glottale"?
sono se il danese è il solo un che non usa questo?

Hey, I have some hilarious stuff to tell you. So today, in the forum, there's this freakin' 13 year old girl askin' a ridiculous question in her own topic: "What is Laura Pausini's bust size?" eek I was like, WTF...why the hell would you ask something like that? Aren't you her fan? Don't you have utmost respect for her? The thing is, she's from Romania, she doesn't speak Italian well...even I could tell it was screwed up.
