As Cora found herself looking into Jack's eyes, her beastial face lit up with an inhuman smile, her pointed teeth and her extended fangs made her normally impassive pretty face terribly beautiful. In a whirl, she had stabbed and hacked and simultaneously bitten. Jack's body hit the tree, but his neck and head were still clenched in her teeth. She shook it back and forth, roaring and snarling and hissing and spitting and clawing at it despite the vacant eyes. It didn't seem that she would ever awaken from this berserker rage.

---------------------------------------------------------

Syvra, meanwhile, had worked to put Demyx in a more natural position with the ice shards still in him. He was still breathing, barely, and even with the sounds of battle going on behind her, she didn't blink an eye.
When Rose crawled over, Syvra held out her hand like a surgeon and said, "Blood, and it's not for me," looking over and detecting a hint of fear from Rose. Syvra rolled her eyes in impatience. "Rosey dear, if you don't give me your finger to p***k even a DROP of blood from for dear comatose Demyx, he will be dead when that sunlight touches him."
Once again, only this time looking straight at Rose, she held out her hand, and said once more, looking into Rose's eyes, "Blood."

Rose was trembling, but Syvra’s words and the look she gave her made her go rigid. “He is still alive?” she breathed, thrusting out her hand for the vampire.
“Take as much as you need….”
She was not as indifferent to the beast behind her. She had had a great deal of experience in conversing with vampires, especially those close to royalty, but she had never once seen anything like this. Cora had lost her mind, it seemed, and Rose wondered if she would ever be normal again. Her head tilted back to catch of glimpse of Jack’s head clenched between ravenous incisors, but she looked quickly away, keeping her outstretched hand as steady as possible for Syvra.

"Of course he's still alive," Syvra scathingly replied, bringing the finger over towards her, slicing open the tip with a fang. She placed Rose's finger over Demyx's slightly open mouth, squeezing it despite Rose's gasp of pain. Drops began to splatter on the glistening fangs, right as the first ray of sunlight broke through the trees.
It shone directly onto Demyx's closed eyes, and despite the ice spears, he jerked away from it, hissing and putting a protective claw in front of his eye. His hair had turned completely snow white as a Valcori's, his eyes had turned stormy gray and glowed white in the shadow of the dappled forest.
Syvra opened a vein in her wrist and held it out to Demyx. "Drink this, since I have already fed on Rose. You're going to need the strength to help Cora."
The sounds of the maddened Cora seemed to come back into focus now that the imminent danger was over. "Your bond has solidified to almost as unbreakable as that of us twins. You can look at my heart and yours; you will even see the faint glimmer of silver that is the bond between us. We are now three pieces of one."
Syvra's eyes followed the golden link from her heart to Cora's and then the silver one between Syvra and Demyx. "However, you must test the bond. For some reason, even I cannot get to my sister, through speaking, thought, or bond alone. You have to get her to calm down else she will go insane and remain forever in berserker blood rage."
Syvra's eyes seemed to bore into Demyx's new ones with terrifying intensity. Cora had started to tear the flesh from the head in rage.

Demyx’s eyes flashed as he dove at Syvra’s arm, wasting no time. He had no time, as far as he was concerned. The world had been thrown back at him, or he had been thrown back at it, and in this new world, Cora was the one in danger. The blood rushed into his mouth, not a drop spilling. In a moment he was gone from Syvra, now rushing over to Cora’s side, yanking the remaining ice free as he went. He knew that the body and head belonged to Jack, but he would not worry about that now. Now everything, his mind, his body, his soul, was focused on the bestial girl in front of him.
“Cora, it is over!” He shouted about her deafening roars. “I am safe, Jack is gone.” His eyes bore into hers, searching.
“Cora,” He called once more, hoping the sound of her name could sooth her as it did himself. “Cora my love, this is not you.” Not so long ago, he remembered, they went through a similar situation. Only this was so much worse, and he feared the loss of her life, not his own. He had seen death, but he would not let Cora know what it felt like.
I his mind, Demyx was also reaching out. He was urging her to remember their bond, and hoping that it was strong enough to bring her back. He sent images to her, ones that were memories from the past, and some that were images his mind had made up of the future. They could finally be happy now, if only she would recognize him.

Her legs crooked at weird angles but still holding her up, Cora dropped the head and looked at Demyx through her hair, which had come out to fall in shimmering snow white waves down to her waist, one red eyes boring straight into his. Blood dripped from an unseen source from behind her hair, but anybody could tell that it was coming from her mouth. She turned towards him jerkily, breathing heavily, her hands still contorted into claws.
She went jerkily towards him and Demyx stiffened. Any sudden moves could end up in a fight. She stopped a few feet from him. her voice a mix between that of her normal one and a beast. It growled and grated as it came out. "You are not Demyx. Demyx was warm, and I sense no fire. Your hair is all white, his was not. My beloved was pierced with icy spears. You are not dead. My beloved is DEAD!"
This last she roared and clutched at her head, her nails digging into her scalp and causing bloody streaks to run down her hair, looking like garish hair dye. "Stop sending these fake thoughts into my head! You torture me! You lie!" Cora charged at Demyx, roaring. She rammed him into a tree, and he leaned against the tree, stunned, Syvra yelled at him. "Demyx! Have you forgotten your abilities old and new? You're a vampire elemental for gods' sake!"
Cora grabbed Demyx's wrists and pinned them to the tree. Her teeth all still pointed and her fangs still extended unnaturally long, she roared in his face and waiting to see if there was a challenge or answer.

Demyx stared at Cora, his eyes wide from the impact on the tree. Only at Syvra’s words would his mind start to work again. He closed his eyes, searching for the fire that he hoped was still inside. Suddenly, the skin around his wrists began to glow red, as if there were embers within his veins. His hand sparked and then ignited, raining down fire that started red but then burned blue and green. It began to creep down his arms, past Cora’s hands, and all the way down to his chest , until they were burning within his wounds.
“Cora, it is me!” He called to her above the roaring of the flames. “Do you feel my heat? The love you feel in our bond is not a lie. I was dead, but it is your gift that has brought me back as one of your own.” His eyes stared hard into her own when they opened again. “I am Demyx Liceryth, you know I am! Come back to me, Cora Siann. I love you, and you love me. Trust our bond.”

Cora withdrew her hands, retreating, confusion written across her feral face which was still contorted like a beast's. Her eyes flashed red again, flicking over towards where Demyx had lain.
"How did this happen? Beloved, his body is gone but his blood remains where he fell." She carefully came back towards Demyx, a growl still in her voice. "But you have his fire. You have his softened eyes, the ones that looked at me with love rather than hate. The ones that even now still look at me with love rather than fear." She stepped to him once more, this time she ran a finger down his cheek. "You accepted the gift, I see that."
She frowned. "Love? Love. Where is there love? The only bond I have is the golden one between twins, the bond eternal between two souls that are one. What bond have you with me? Of love? I know nothing more of a bond between you and I. I remember nothing of you; my memories begin with the explosion of my rage. I have no memories of before the rage and the killing of that icy b*****d."
She snarled again. "He killed Beloved. He tried to kill me." At this, she seemed to remember that a part of her side was missing and an ice shard was still stuck in her midsection. She laughed at the concern that crossed his face as she explored the massive wound and pulled the ice out. "Why would you care about my wounds? You are only a vampire elemental hybrid named Demyx Liceryth."
At this she stopped, her already furrowed brow somehow furrowing further, a look of concentration crossed her face. "Demyx...Liceryth...the name..." She stood for a few seconds, before shaking her head. "The name escapes me. Beloved's name was Beloved, nothing more." A little stream of blood started to trickle out of her ripped open side and down her leg. She looked down at it, her face relaxing slightly. "Ah, so the last of the blood remaining in my body decides to escape me. Soon, I will sleep." She closed her eyes in exhaustion, her face still beast-like.
Syvra yelled. "Now is your chance Demyx before her face stays that way! Grab the golden strand that runs between you and Cora and pull it, HARD! NOW!"

Demyx ignored his confusion and threw his hands at the bond as it glittered in the fresh morning rays of sun. To someone on the outside, it would look as though he too had gone mad, and was now pulling at an invisible string with all his might.
He couldn’t stand seeing Cora this way. It was odd that love, however wonderful it may be, could do this to someone, could make someone take a life, or wish to take their own. But he wasn’t going to let her die, and he wasn’t going to let her live this way. She would come back. She had too. After every damn thing they had ever been through, it was only fair, it was only right.
Demyx dug his feet into the ground, pulling with all his heart and strength.

Cora gasped in pain and shock, her head whipping up like she was staring into the sky. Her eyes snapped back open and they were wide and staring. Her hands flew to her breast, clutching where her heart would be. The pupils that were so tiny and red, slowly grew back into wide, tired storm gray eyes. Her memories returned as the berserker beast left her. She remembered everything, and as the last of the blood ran out of Cora's body, her eyes rolled up into her head, she gave a sigh that sounded like, "Demyx..." and she collapsed to the ground. Her face relaxed, her eyes closed, and her heart stopped beating.

Demyx smiled as Cora’s old self returned, but his happiness was short lived as she fell to the ground, her whole body relaxed as she sighed out his name. He ran to her side, kneeling down to hold her upper body in his arms. He searched her face, but there was nothing there, no sign of change to say that she was awakening. His eyes darted up to Syvra’s pleadingly.
“Syvra….what has happened? She can’t be…no, she is fine. She will be fine. I can help her. I can make her better.”
Demyx pulled Cora up, clutching her to his chest. “You can have my blood,” He whispered. “We can share it.” He pressed his cheek to her head, pushing her face in his bloody neck desperately. “Forever means nothing to me if you are not by my side.”

Syvra shook her head, laughing. "Demyx, her heart may not be beating, but she is not dead." She walked over, taking Cora into her arms. If you hadn't noticed, our bonds are still as visible and shimmering as ever."
She started to walk over to the hidden door. "She's simply in barrensleep. Vampire with no blood equals no heartbeat, but it does not mean death. One of those reasons alone is why so many of us are centuries old. I'll have to perform a procedure, which will unfortunately result," she coughed, making the words that came out barely heard, "with the death of a human," then her voice grew strong again, "but then she will be back to normal."
She turned around, stopping in front of Demyx and Rose, who had followed, silent and wondering, Demyx at what the change of race had brought him in to, and Rose at the strange and fascinating ways of vampires. "I don't think either of you will want to see the procedure however. It includes a lot of blood and it will be unpleasant to look upon. If you follow, I will allow you to view it. I understand if you remain standing where you are."
Syvra proceded forward, her twin still in her arms, covered in blood.

Demyx was about to follow inside, despite his flustered appearance, but he saw Rose’s hesitant look and stopped in the doorway. He could tell she didn’t much like the idea of watching whatever the vampire was going to do, but staying out here alone after what had happened wasn’t appealing to her either.
“Rose, I’m sure there is another room for you to wait in, or just turn around and busy yourself with something else for a while, alright?” She nodded and scurried in after him, looking around the strange, hidden room in amazement.
“How could no one know of this?” She breathed, but waited for no answer, instead wandering over to a small cushioned chair, which she turned around to face a wall before curling up in it. She looked very tired, but the chances of her actually sleeping through this was slim, she knew.
Demyx was right on Syvra’s heels, and despite was she had said, he was still thoroughly worried and kept sneaking glances at Cora’s face whenever he could.
“I will watch,” He said in a gravely voice. “I need to learn more anyway….”

Syvra nodded in accordance and led him into a chamber they had not noticed before. It smelled musty, of death, dried roses, and blood. Dead rose petals where scattered all over the floor as Syvra walked through them, but as she touched them, they grew back to life, becoming lush and full as if they'd just fallen off the bloom. Any that regenerated that were touching another dead one regenerated that one too, until the entire floor was covered in fresh rose petals and the smell was overwhelming, stuffy, but comforting. It seemed to swirl around them and hold them in nonexistent arms, safe arms.
Syvra finally walked up a couple of steps to a raised coffin, very old, stone carved, that seemed to have grown out of the rock beneath it. She laid Cora's still body inside it and proceeded to do something that Demyx couldn't see. As Demyx came up behind her, he saw that Syvra was taking tubes that had needles on the end of them, hypodermic if you will, and slipping them at different points into Cora's collapsed veins.
The tubes came out of her neck, her wrists, inside of her elbows, one directly into her heart, and many other places. Tubes virtually sprouted out of her body.
Syvra then motioned him to wait a while. She left quickly, and came back in fifteen minutes flat, hauling an unconscious person behind her. "Do not question. It is our way," was all that she would say to Demyx's questioning horrified expression. She hooked up the corresponding tubes to the human, and slowly, as they watched, blood flowed through the tubes to Cora.
"This, we may leave for," Syvra whispered, pushing Demyx ahead of her out of the room before closing the door behind her. "The transfer will take a while before it is finished. In the meanwhile, you can ask any questions you need answers for."
PostPosted: Sun Jan 20, 2008 8:18 pm

Logan opened his mouth, a million questions wanting to pour out all at once. But he quickly shut it again, realizing that the only question he could voice was ‘Who is the human and where did you get them’ but he wasn’t so sure he wanted to know. And it wasn’t his place to question their ethics. That human was not an elemental, and therefore not under his protection. He had to remind himself that he had no rule over these girls, and the death of the human was life for Cora, which he valued above anything.
And then he thought of something he could ask.
“What will your clan think of this situation? Of me, an elemental- a Liceryth at that- now possessing your gifts? “

Syvra saw his conflicting emotions and laughed, smiling mischieviously when he'd finally figured out which, out of the millions she was sure he had, to ask. "Well, seeing as how my clan has no idea of the whereabouts of me and Cora, I think it's safe to say we should keep you the same way, Secret."
Her eyes hooded and grinning mischieviously, she leaned forward and tipped Demyx's chin up with a finger. "So, what're you going to do in the meanwhile?"

As the blood ran from one body to another, one heart began to die, and another heart began to beat again.
