Zelda's eyes widened, and without thinking she rushed forward to look at the stone. "It's just like in the drawings," she whispered, almost reverently. Finally she tore her eyes away, looked back to the person holding it, and smiled, wonder still shining in her eyes. "I was going to ask you about it, in the milk shop, but I didn't think you'd answer truthfully. Not that I could have blamed you." Her smile faded and her eyes became thoughtful. "Only the Hero of Time is able to wield the Master Sword," she stated evenly, watching his face carefully.

"Well, we'll see about that" Link smirked. But a moment his blue eyes staring deep into hers and an air of seriousness resonated in his voice, "So do you know where they are or not," Link asked quietly, not wanting the currently distracted Bowie to overhear.

Zelda looked back searchingly for a long second, then shook her head. "I honestly do not. They were supposed to have been returned to their respective owners, but records indicate that did not actually happen." The only other place that made sense was the Palace, but she wasn't going to say that; besides, she had searched countless times.

"Well, perhaps we should ask the King for help, I'm sure the royals must have some idea where to find them," Link commented as he put away the stone of the forest.

Zelda raised an eyebrow fractionally. "Oh, really? And how do you propose we go about that? Should we just walk past the already ridiculous security set up for the Gerudos' arrival and explain to the King that we'd like to ask him about stones?" She shook her head. "Do you know what it says in the great hall of the Palace? 'Enter thou possessed of both courage and wisdom' We need to think through-" She broke off, her eyes shooting open. "No. It can't be that simple..." She suddenly grinned, the expression as disbelieving as it was delighted. "The stones are in the great hall!"

"And how exactly do you know what's written inside the palace?" Link asked. This girl sure seemed to know a lot of things that could not possibly be common knowledge. There was only one possible explination, "You must work there, am I right?"

Zelda's smile became somewhat awkward. "Yes." And she did, in a manner of speaking. She quickly changed the subject. "Unfortunately, that still leaves us with the problem of getting inside." She pursed her lips, thinking hard. "If I had my saddle bags, I might be able to suggest something, but as it is..." she trailed off, shaking her head.

Link sat down and thought for a moment, but nothing seemed to come, "I guess we'll just hafta play it by ear," he shrugged then walked over his horse, "Epona, stay here with bowie while we're gone."
The horse neighed making it's owner smile. He turned around and stared back at the girl, "Come on let's get going. We'll be back soon so stay here Bowie!"

Arryl frowned, but quickly improvised. "This isn't a proper location, nor are we in proper company. I believe this message is to be meant for you only," she replied. All she had to do was give them something else to think about. All she needed was a split second and she could make her move... just the slightest opening...
She didn't notice that her muscles had tensed imperceptibly, but coming closer and closer to becoming noticeable.

Bowie was tottally preoccupied by the fact that his brother must be behind those doors... that is, until Link and the girl left... "Huh!? Wait! I... oh... fine..." He grumbled, and sat on the ground...

Zelda shot a sympathetic look and reassuring smile back at the younger boy, and then followed Link. "'Play it by ear?'" she asked, her expression skeptical, "The last time I allowed someone to improvise, it didn't go particularly well." She glanced nervously at a pair of guards they were passing.

Five minutes later, the two were around the corner fromt the outside of the gate. Cautiously he peeked his blonde head out at watched. Now that the Gerudos had left, the gate was locked up tight and two larger armored men were standing at attention. "Alright, I guess it's your turn, I'm sure they would allow you to go through, you do work there afterall."

Zelda's eyes widened. "What? Are you out of your mind? That doesn't mean they'll-"
One of the guards looked up, his eyes caught hers, and all the blood immediately drained out of his face. "Wh- You-" He put a hand up to his forehead. "Could you just answer one question, your eminence? Do you want to get us demoted? Is that your mission in life?"
Zelda turned bright pink and looked down at the ground. "No," she mumbled.
The guard unlocked the gate and held it open for her. "Well, get in there, then!"
Zelda shot a nervous look at Link, and slipped through.

'Your Eminence? What is that supposed to mean?' Link thought then went to follow her through the gate, only to be stopped by the gaurds.
"And where do you think you're going kid, you'd better go run along home before you get in trouble," the gaurd smirked, staring at the strangely dressed youth.

Zelda raised an eyebrow as the pink faded from her cheeks. "Oh? I wonder what you superiors would think if they found out that you deprived a defenseless girl of her escort," she said softly, her eyes hard. "These are dangerous times."
The guard paled, then glowered. "Alright, get in there," he snapped, practically shoving Link through.
Zelda smiled innocently. "Thank you, guardsman. You're kindness is much appreciated. Come on," she added to Link, walking calmly up to the giant front doors of the palace.
