Varnis had arrived, as the rest of the people had gotten there. "King Haitus, we are here." He proclaimed as he saw the king.
The king turned around after talking to the guards for a bit. The only thing that anyone had heard was, "Plan". "Ah, so I see my trust in you all hasn't been misjudged." He said with a booming voice, so that all could here. "I have one reason why I have summoned you all to come here." He paused for a moment, letting them all arrive, and get in order with the rest of the group. "So, you all have heard tails about the cave, I supposed. Well most of them are true, and I was the one that had spread them." Pausing again to see if anyone had any response to that.
"I have a bit of a problem. There are bandits that live in this cave, and they are starting to become a bit of a problem. I need you six-." He looked at Mel. "Seven..." He said resuming what he was saying before. "to go into the cave, and defeat these bandits." He said with a booming voice, looking over the group, waiting for them to say something.

Ahren's lips turned up, though the expression did not reach her calculating eyes. "So you spread rumors to keep people away from the cave. I am not sure whether I applaud your tactics or condemn you for lying to your people." She shrugged, still smiling slightly. "But what do I know of governing? And you have called us all the way here for bandits?" Ahren asked lightly. "I am curious, why go after them now? I presume these bandits have been in that cave for a while. Why have they not been taken care of before it grew to the point when you required outside help? Things have clearly escalated to endangerment, and should this not have been nipped in the bud?" Ahren glanced over at Luxran, a shadow passing over her face.
She brushed it off, resuming her quiet interrogation. "So, what is your command? You simply said to defeat them. Would you like us to kill them on sight, or do you want them taken alive?" Her smile had faded into apprehensive curiousity. "I am unfamiliar with the politics in this town. I do not know whether it is your custom to hold a judgement bfore condemning a criminal. And what do you expect in this cave? How many, and what are their resources?"

The king had been surprised by the bombardment of questions from Ahren. He then looked at her. "I have spread rumors, to prevent my people from being killed by the bandits that live here." He said putting an emphasis on my. "I also haven't been able to attack them because we had a peace treaty with them, until they had attacked me, and now I fear that they may soon attack the town." He then looked over the group one more time. "There are many of them, and I am unsure what they may have in store for anyone that will enter the cave. Whatever you find in there you may keep."
He turned to the cave, then back again. "I can not send my own men for reaons beyond my own control." Pausing for another moment. "I would say kill them on sight, but there will be in groups of at least thirty at times. They may be stupid, but when in a group, they are strong." Looking around again. "There may also be monsters in this cave, that no one has seen before. If you feel that you are not up to this task, I then ask you to please leave." He said with a booming voice of command.

Ahren nodded, her face relaxing in satisfaction. "I understand your course of action. Forgive my questions, I only mean to be cautious, not rude. I hope my skills will be enough, and I would like to stay and contribute in the fight. " She lowered her head. "I am ready to proceed as soon as possible." Straightening, she shifted her staff to rest on the ground, one hand wrapped around the oak.

"Ah, very well then." The king said with a voice that everyone could hear. "Eat up, and eat hearty." He said as he motioned the guards to bring breakfast. "When you are done eating, you may enter the cave, any time you want. I do want you all to come back alive." He looked over to the cave, then back again. "Expect the expected, and the unexpected. This cave will give you many challenges, and you will be constantly put against many creatures." He said as he and the group where eating.
Varnis had grabbed some food, and ate it, as he listened to the king. He was as ready as ever to enter the cave. Everyone could see it, even though he did try to hide it.

Ahren nodded at the guards, taking a moderate amount of food from them. She settled on the ground, near the cave's looming entrance. Eating slowly, Ahren watched the group over her helping of food. Her staff lay within arm's reach, her legs tucked underneath her. She continued to eat, glancing at the cave's opening every so often.

"Yay! Breakfast!!" Lexenos screamed as he ran toward the food. He grabbed whatever was closest to him, which happened to be the fruit, and shoved it into his mouth with a look of pure bliss on his face. As he was chewing up the first bit of food he reached out for another handfull.

Mel shook her head at her brother, with a smile playing around her lips. She moved closer to the food herself, passing Lexenos. As she passed him, she gave him a playful pat on the head and started looking for porridge. She spotted it and ladled herself a bowlfull. She sat down next to her brother and began to eat her porridge.

Lexenos finished the last of his fruit and licked his fingers to get all the juice off. "So... When are we going in the cave?" he asked, starting to get bored. He really wanted to go into the cave and fight. Fighting is fun.

Varnis had stood up after he finished eating. "I would guess after everyone is done eating." He said as he walked over to the cave.

Ahren drummed her fingers against her staff, watching Lexenos and his sister as they ate. She was like a cat around new people, wary yet fascinated by their strangeness. Her gaze travelled around the group, studying them. Would she be better off in their company? Ahren still wasn't sure, but she could guess that whatever dangers lay in the cave would give her an answer.
She pushed on the wooden stick to get up, her food eaten and hunger satiated. Nodding her agreement at Varnis' words, Ahren followed him towards the cave. She said nothing to the mage, instead peering into the space beyond the cavern's maw.

Mel finished the rest of her porridge and set the bowl down. She stood up and stretched her arms up above her head. She looked around to see the other's progress and noticed that Varnis and Ahren had walked over to the cave. She tapped her brother on the shoulder before walking over to the cave herself and took a furitive glance inside.
