Aurelie's mind raced as she pressed the nausia and the feeling of celestial displacement away under the dispassionate gaze of the mighty Legion she had heard so much about. Swallowing she started to reply and was quickly cut short by Apolline.
Apollines voice ratcheted up a notch every word, scraping the insides of Aurelies head like knives.
She mentally snarled, In a sideways manner she noticed the others watching her with cold gazes and sneers, all more than likely thinking she wasn't worth any of thier time. Making her face as cold to match thiers, she lifted her gaze to Legion, knowing the truth would be best.
"No Akri, I am not nearly to the level of combat that you would wish of me, I have not had long to train. But I am also not helpless, I have my own tricks and such prepared for battle. I am a trained fighter as well, with blade and staff."

Legion snorted.

"Your opponent wields legendary, sentient weapons, and guns. A staff and a sword can only help so much. But if you think you can hold your own, feel free to go with them..." He snapped his fingers and Sindhlot rose from his shadow. "He'll lead you to where Kayla's magical signature was suppressed."

Aurelie shifted, realizeing from everyones looks that she would not have to pretend to be nice and blend in here, like she had always had to do. She stiffened her shoulders, letting a cold sneer curl her lip back at the other sneers directed at her. She didn't have to prove her worth to them, only the one in front of her, Legion. Aurelei realized she was beginning to share Apollines emotions ad thoughts, blending them with her own.
, came Apollines low purr in her mind, her laugh maniacal.
Aurelies lips tightened into a grim line, then she returned her eyes to Legion, ignoreing the rest of Apollines bloody rambleing. She flexed her hands in her gloves, which held elemental glyphs that she and Apolline had made. She had only to twist her hands with the right word and she had a spark of fire, blast of water, wind, or earth.
"Yes Akri, I am at your service. I shall go to retrieve,...Kayla. " Her smile was grim excitement as she stepped back. She walked over to her motorcycle, grabbing her staff she had secured to the side and tapping the bottom on the ground. Although she was less proficient in Shadow, she had a few glyphs prepeared if she needed them. The top of her staff was a metal tigers head open in a roar, the staff made of a bar of metal wrapped in wood. she looked at the shadow that had appeared at his call and waited.

Ted spun around, trying to find the annoying person that insulted him. When he couldn't find anyone, he just shrugged his shoulders a bit, wariness settling in. He started walking off in some random direction, only to be stopped again by that voice. Helloooooo? Listen to me, pipsqueak. Again, Ted whirled around, trying to find the maker of that voice, but couldn't find anyone. He got spooked.

Still walking, he heard the voice yet again. MORON. LISTEN TO ME! Ted fell to the ground, clutching his head at the voracity of the onslaught, and then started to yell. "WHO'S CALLING ME?" He got a few weird looks, but he didn't pay any attention to them. After all, this voice was now laughing at him. Shut up, kid. I happen to be....a relative. You wouldn't believe from how far back though. And I am currently inhabiting your head. My name's Hideki, and you are probably wondering why I'm here, right? Tell ya later. For now, just go where I tell you to. After all, you've been summoned.

Rather than argue with a voice in his head, he listened, and followed the directions to the front of a mansion. He was a bit confused, but didn't let anything faze him more than it should. After all, he just listened to a voice in his head, and ended up in an actual spot he didn't know. And it seemed the voice had a weird sense of humor. Either way, he let himself into the front door, and looked around.

"Well, then, both of you can go, if you're so eager," Legion answered disinterestedly. He flicked his hand at the door and it opened, revealing Ted just before he knocked. "Follow him," Legion commanded. "I have matters to attend to." He fell into his own shadow and disappeared.

"Dunno what that was about," Sindhlot commented. "All right, here's the deal - to avoid attracting attention, I'm going to piggyback on one of you guys' shadows and give directions. Who am I going on?" he asked.

Kayla slipped neatly out of the door. "No problems as such. But I'd really like to find out why I'm here. I kind of figured that I'd have to do something foolish to hold you guys off. Instead, I get a sandwich. I'm grateful. But still curious."

"Well, there are a few reasons," Josh replied, stepping over Linda. "Would you like to take a walk outside?"

Samuel smiled grimly. "I will bear your form, Sindhlot. I find very little disconcerting."

Samuel looked at the companions that would be coming along with him on his mission. Looked like an elementalist or two, a demoniac, and he wasn't sure what the other one was. The style of their disciplines had yet to be seen. He thought one of the elementalists was a thaumaturge, but he wasn't sure. Mixed bunch, really. Hopefully they would pull off the collection without a hitch...

Paul followd her out of the door. "If you choose to do so and you don't mind, I'll come with you. Need something to do," he explained unnecessarily. A need to move had gripped him unexpectedly, and a walk was just as good as any other way to dispense of it.

I'm not too worried about that. It's pretty easy to do for me.

So you're saying they'll come for her.

I'll remember that.

"I'm game." She wiggled her sockless toes within her boots and waited. And then she felt the first little glimmer of her magic coming back. It probably wouldn't have been enough to light a candle, if she were into that, but it made her a little happier.

Vassily was silent on the other end of the spiritual line. She knew that he was once again testing his desire for power, and finding it strong. She glanced down at Linda on the carpet, and it occurred to her dimly that she was fairly attractive.

Josh opened the door and pulled a pair of golden lockets from the pocket of his jeans.

"Before we go anywhere, I'd like for each of you to put one of these on - Kayla, I'm sorry, but I want yours to be in my sight at all times. Legion is probably tracking us by where your signature disappeared, since that's the only reliable way to find a static base." He stepped out the door and held one to each of them. "These are beacons for us and concealment from them, and if you get rid of yours, I will know... and I'm sorry to say this, but it will become necessary to execute you if we are out of the bounds of our concealment fields. Also, your magic should return fully within about half an hour from when we suppressed it." He checked a watch.

"That gives you roughly twenty minutes. If you attempt to do any substantial magic until then... well, you'll fail." He began to walk. "I intend to keep you too occupied to enter a trance anyway. Last warning before the real talk. I have a handgun. Run, and if I cannot catch you, I will shoot you. If I cannot catch or shoot you, there are a lot of Shadowmen between here and anywhere Legion could be based. We've brokered a deal with them that they'll allow anyone who allies with us to live - preventing incidents like the earlier sniping of a prisoner - as well as not shooting anyone we're negotiating with. But if you run..." he pulled a cell phone from his pocket. "One phone call, or various methods of magic communication, can have you dead almost instantly. I guarantee at least two teams have their guns at us at this very second.

"Now that that's out of the way... Kayla, I don't know how much Alan made clear to you, so I'm going to explain something to you. You are not actually responsible for the loss of his soul, but he can't help but feel like you are because the consumption of it for the resurrections was when he lost any chance of getting it back. He had been a Forsaken for many years before the Cabal was even formed.

"Most of the souls for the resurrection were, in fact, harvested by Legion himself in the form of mass-murders. However, he had previously kept all of his Forsaken's souls on hand as a general resource; they were all consumed to fuel his resurrections, as well as those he collected by the mass-killings. As for Alan... I feel I have to defend him a little, at least. He's... ah... unstable. At best. He imposes morals upon himself simply out of hatred for Legion; since he has no soul, he can't feel actual compassion or kindness. His concern is something of an artificial construct he forces on himself. Enough of that, though. I've been talking so much my mouth is getting dry. What's your opinion of Legion, and what of the other Warlocks?"

Sindhlot sank into Samuel's clothing. A disturbing chilly sensation spread across him, running contrary to Gurul's predilection for fire.

Sindhlot informed Samuel.

Sindhlot, by Samuel's body, directed them to the edge of the barrier - the moment he crossed it, Samuel ceased to be detectable as a mage. In that field, he was indistinguishable from a normal person unless he used magic.

Sindhlot disengaged from Samuel's body and sank into his shadow, disappearing.

Kayla complied with all his instructions, not really seeing a way around them. "What I think of Legion? Well, aside from being terrifyingly powerful, I don't really know. That was what originally drew Vassily to him, and myself as well to a lesser extent. Though I don't really know how much he really values the new generation. It seems to me that it's pointless to go through the trouble of preserving the old cabal if he needs to start a new one with me and the rest of the descendants. As far as my homies are concerned, I don't really know them that well. They seem like a fairly decent bunch, probably haven't realized that they'll eventually be expected to carry out the same atrocities that our ancestors did. I've only known them for two days though. Hardly time to judge character." She didn't make eye contact as she spoke, not because she was lying but because she was so steadfastedly telling the truth. "Also...I think that they'll come after me. What Vassily can do is unique, so they won't want to lose that." She glanced up as though expecting to see a band of warlocks rounding the next corner. She was feeling her magic build back up, but still didn't feel confident in her ability to defend herself from anything major, and she didn't expect Legion to be overly happy.

They began to walk down the street.

"You don't realize just how prepared to do those atrocities some of them are, do you?" Josh asked. "Legion brings out the worst in people. As for you... you guys are basically just vehicles for his old allies. I suspect he's looking into some way to transfer their souls to artificial bodies from which they'll be magic-capable, and once he achieves that, your only possible hope is to be better in every way than the warlock with more experience; a lifetime more, in fact. As for you... the Shadowmen say you attempted to disable one of their decoys without killing it - hell, without even crippling it. Why?"

Joe looked at the others as they left. "Umm...Legion? Did you need me for something, or should I go with them?"

Aurelie turned after seeing Legion dissappear and followed the others of her rescue party. She sincerely thought thier possibility of winning was rather low.
, Apollines dry voice filtered through Aurelies head dripping with sarcasm. She laughed humorlessley.
Aurelie snorted, muttering under her breath as Apolline ranted inside her head. She felt the barrior as they passed, watching as the shadow pulled off of the one who had volunteered as host then into anther shadow. Yea, that was something you see everyday on the busy streets of L.A.. They were not going to attract any attention at all.... About like loaded cannons next to water guns.
As she walked behind them, her staff clinked against the sidewalk, its reassureing weight helping her feign relaxing. After noone was speaking, she finally realized she agreed, at least somewhat, with Apolline, and figured it wouldn't do any harm to voice a few of her suggestions.
"Uh, I hate to break up the monotony and whatever but.....", with her hands in her pockets she shrugged, looking around at all of them, " I fear my caustic other self has expressed a rather important delimma. Of course, you may already know this and I just be out of the loop being new and all but... Do any of you have any kind of plan on how we find her, what we do when we find her, and how we are suppose to get her away from the hunters? Presuming they will guess we want our member back, they will more than likely be waiting, or looking, for us. Then what? We barge in, "O hey, we want our friend back, Kay-thanks' bye!" Or did I just miss that part of the plan with my timeing?"
By now Apolline had stopped ranting and was laughing so hard it hurt Aurelies ears, which made her want to cringe. But her lips only twitched as she suppressed it, keeping her face stoically bored.
