Exactly, don't you hate that when people say, "That person's a Catholic and that person's a Christian"? I want to kick them for not having common sense...

Well there is a difference, Potestants are christians that broke away from the roman Catholic ways. The Roman Catholics are christians as well, but they conformed to the needs of man. Roman Catholics have made up rules that do not exist in the bible over the past 150 years. Why do you think so many Irish fled to America? Most of the Irish were Roman Catholics and were being persecuted upon their religion, but they became protestants over time because they knew what was going on within the Roman Catholic churches. So now there is Catholics and Christians. They are the same, but have slight differences. 3nodding (Ironically, I just learned all of this in the last month. I love knowing about history! xd ) The differences are as follows (Some may be my point of view as well, so do not be offended if you disagree): 1) Catholics are far more formal than christians. 2) Christians are mostly more up beat in their music while Catholic churches stick to their hymns and such. (I fell asleep in my old Catholic church). 3) Opinion: Catholics mourn their religion. Christians celebrate it. 4) Catholics have very large churches normally, while alot of the time if you visit a local christian church, it is much smaller compared to the catholic churches. 5) opinion: CATHOLIC CHURCHES ARE JUST PLAIN BORING!!!! 6) Catholics have many man made rules. Ex from my last church: (They pretty much said this) "If you don't go to church, your going to Hell. If you don't pray once a day, your going to Hell. If you think/act sinfully, your going to Hell." ~ My family and I got tired of this and alot of the other previous reasons and were re-baptised as christians. We are now a part of a church by the name of South Hill Baptist Church in Milford, Michigan. I love this church!!!! xd (My OTHER family is my church family. I could not form a bond with any one like this in my other church, but I can in this one.) Sorry I just went on a friggin rant, but I am a hardcore believer, I love history, and I like getting my facts straight. 3nodding xd

Yes, Catholic churches are very boring. And I HATE all that sit-kneel-stand-sit-kneel-stand crap! gonk
My grandparents are obsessed with my religion, but fortunately my mother isn't. Heck, me and my sister didn't even have communions... xd ;;; and I only ever go to Church when we're at my grandparents' house...
Christianity's fine. Christmas's fine. Catholicsm's annoying, and now we have a stupid new Pope who bashed Harry Potter. Bleh. I hate those Harry Potter bashing freaks who are all "OMG, Harry Potter is THE DEVIL!!! He will lead you to the DARK SIDE!!!"

While Catholics are different from most Christians, they're still Christians. After all, isn't Christianity the worhip of Christ?
According to the Random House Webster's College Dictionary (published 1997):
Christian: 1.) of, pertaining to, or derived from Jesus Christ or His teachings. 2.) of, pertaining to, or adhering to the religion based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.
You can be Christian and not Catholic, but there is no way in heck you're a true Catholic if you're not a Christian. Christianity has many denominations, but all believe in Christ in some way or another, and so are all classified as Christian. It is true that many denominations have completely different views, but all are Christian. And actually, B., there are some Protestant denominations even more serious than the Catholics. There was a group down in the south that was boycotting Disney because it had a non-discrimination policy towards gays and lesbians. If that's not strict and serious, what is?
Anyways, that's my two-cents.

@Azura Bladewright: I know 5 came after 5, I was jumping back and forth between points when I was typing it and got very confused. I meant to change it before any one noticed, but I was too tired and forgot. sweatdrop
@Cowpuppy: I know that they are the exact same. 3nodding I said that some where in there, didn't I? confused We both worship Christ, I know this. It is just that they have different rules between the two (Catholics tend to have more). As for the disney thing... I agree and disagree. I am happy that they are following the rules in the Bible, but boycotting disney!? So what! If some one wants to be gay/bi/lesbian, so be it. I don't care, it's not my choice. Yes, im going to make fun of them, they deserve it (In my mind they do), it's not my fault that they are going to Hell. 3nodding rolleyes That's what I tell myself when I see things like that. When I said that Catholics are more strict and such, I meant that as MOST of the time. Some christians can be just as much/more so strict than Catholics. My church is not like that. If we see some thing like gays and such, our pastor just tells us to pray for them. He doesn't say to boycott any thing Gay or against the Bible. If this Church that your talking about is boycotting because of their rules, then that is strict, but if it is doing this because they want to prove a point, then I completely support that church. 3nodding I am not being defensive, I agree with you. 3nodding But there are reasons behind some things, and other things need no reason. I don't know their reason, so I cannot speak much of this church. 3nodding sweatdrop

Babbalui I know that they are the exact same. 3nodding I said that some where in there, didn't I? confused You did, but then went on to explain how Christians are different from Catholics. sweatdrop Babbalui now there is Catholics and Christians. Babbalui 1) Catholics are far more formal than christians. It would have been better to say Catholics and Protestants. xD Because then, I'd definitely have to agree. But of course, psycho-OCD-nutcase Cowpuppy had to flip out over a little mistake. =o I say we move the topic to something else.

At any rate, I'm going to crack. My being dragged to masses makes time seem sooooo slooooowww for me. gonk It's not like I have much of a choice anyway, because if I tell my mom I choose not to go, she'll lay the guilt trip on me. Heavily. She doesn't give a about how I feel, I just have to fulfill her religious tendencies. rolleyes

"Miss Cowpuppy's decided to follow the Saint's footsteps? Such a feat... but why. It seems, stupid. Especially since I left. I only pop in once in a while to keep the news about of everyone...
Now, before anything else happens... everyone knows that my faith in God has turned sour since the death of my grandmother. Also, the fact that because in the bible it says that God hates those that their sexual preference is different from the norm are heathens and satan worshipers, I have begun to feel that God created the world to seem as if we should hate one another...
If those who love someone of the same sex is a heathen, why create them? Why create people that don't believe in you? Is it because of free will? Because if it was, I think gay people could turn straight in a blink of an eye, but it's like a straight man making out with another straight man while being sober. It disgusts them. You can't change someone, so why press prejudice against them?
Now, I am still a Christian, or Catholic or whatever I'm SUPPOSEDLY baptized as... but Jesus, when a creator creates to love, don't make such a thing as a heathen. I care not what they do. I really don't. It's no matter what you think, love. In it's own beauty, own way, and own divised manner.
Homophobes are a pain in the a** by the way... so annoying, yet so much fun to bother. Just say, "I wub you..." and they freak. XD
And yeah, I'm done ranting. Here's Kim."
I believe in God more then Miles does. I actively go on Sunday's when I can since my parents like to, and there's a church up the street if I ever stay at Miles' house. I find that being there makes me feel safe, that I am free from everything else that's going on.
Plus, I have to confess my sins because then I just feel plain guilty.
But... with the United States, everything's become so politically correct, that it's an offense if you even say Merry Christmas to someone. They want 'Happy Holidays' or 'Holiday Tree' instead of Christmas Tree.
But I think that if you're Catholic, Jewish, Islamic, etc... just say whatever you say. Merry Christmas! Happy Hannukah! Whatever it may be.
Don't let all this political correctness affect the holidays.
