Overall the three of them actually had a pretty good time. Once they had discovered Dante was a very good sport, surprising considering but all those times playing as a doll for his mom had left him with little care in what people saw him in. There were many laughs when he came out in the slutty nurse outfit and even more when he came out in the biker outfit. Still they eventually had to get to the actual clothing and that is when some of the fun ended for Dante. When they actually were criticizing what he was wearing it was less fun, he was just glad that he hadn't actually picked out most of the clothing himself or he might start to feel better. When Dante was halfway through the actual clothes pile he was starting to feel like what all those girls who are made fun of in high-school felt like, well he would if he actually went to high-school instead of being home schooled.
Finally they were settling between two outfits. Dante was now done modeling and in his boredom of waiting on the two of them he had put the rest of the clothes away. They still hadn't finished arguing and he decided to lounge in one of the chairs as he rolled the egg around on his lap. The greenish egg was still as ever, almost like it could be a fake with color painted onto it. Well if it was then it was a damn good fake and Dante sure was the fool.
Glancing over Dante watched as the argument started to heat up. He personally couldn't tell the difference between the two outfits. They both seemed to pretty much consist of a dress shirt, trousers, a great coat and a scarf. He had earlier said that they looked the same to him and he had been kicked out of the deciding process. He didn't really care to much about what he would be wearing he was just bored of this now, it was getting to the point where he would rather go out in that slutty nurse outfit.

'Faustus needs more moves in his arsenal,' Riza thought, once again scanning the Dratini's available moves, even though she'd already committed them to memory. 'Wrap? Leer? Slam? Most of these are not moves that will be useful for the amazing dragon-type trained by a world-class coordinator, like me.' Riza smiled to herself and closed the device, having already settled on three versatile moves to teach the dragon, who was eying Eris a little warily. The Quilava, on the other hand, seemed very energetic if not apprehensive. She did not want to hurt her new friend, even if they were just practicing. "Eris," Riza called out finally, "Quick Attack, let's go! And Faustus, let me see your Extremespeed." The command given to Faustus gave Eris pause, and her ears twitched as she studied the Dratini. Faustus' eyes narrowed, and for a brief second he actually looked a bit intimidating before he suddenly darted forward, streaking toward Eris with more speed than she'd ever seen in her lifetime. Even her mother hadn't moved that fast and even as the Quilava tried to kick it into high gear with her Quick Attack, Extremespeed was just that much faster and the Quilava found herself being run over by the freight train that was now Faustus. When she opened her eyes, Eris saw nothing but blue and she realized she was airborne and began to flail about wildly. At first it looked like she'd hit the ground hard but Faustus had doubled back and begun to spin in a circle, generating a gentle Twister that caught the falling Quilava and allowed her to fall safely to the ground, without injury. Riza raised an eyebrow, obviously impressed, but then again she knew she shouldn't be surprised. This Dratini had been trained by Clair, a first-class Dragon Master.
Meanwhile, the Gardevoir and Crawdaunt had both temporarily paused in their own training to watch the two younger Pokemon. It was easy to see how spirited the Quilava was, and the Dratini too, now that he was no longer hiding. The two older Pokemon faced each other, smirking a bit before they decided to get back to business. Diemia knew she had a rival in Yula, and Yula thought the same thing, and neither of them had any intention of losing to the other. This time Yula was the first to attack, giving a graceful twirl and throwing out her arms to send out a glittering Swift attack. The stars circled above her, twinkling and glittering like they had minds of their own but as the Gardevoir directed them, they shot off toward the Crawdaunt like comets. Diemia wasn't phased by the flashy display and she quickly raised up her powerful claws and fired off a Swift of her own, using the delay in Yula's attack to get her counterattack off a little quicker. The two volleys of shimmering stars collided in midair between the two Pokemon, creating small, sparkling explosions. The Crawdaunt growled slightly, wanting nothing more than to attack the Gardevoir directly, but she remembered well the powerful Thunderbolt that Yula had lying in wait so that made her leery. Riza watched her two other Pokemon, able to tell at a glance that both were holding back. "Come on, you two, step it up," she called. "You won't get stronger by holding back your attacks like that, and we're right outside the Pokemon Center."
Riza turned back to her other two Pokemon, but something else caught her eye. She could see the roof of the Cerulean Gym, looking like a giant carousel with a large Dewgong decorating the front. Riza's heart raced and she realized then that she was going to challenge the Cerulean gym soon, if not today. * * * * * "Machop, no!" the other Rocket shouted, unable to do a thing as his pokemon was struck by the unerring bolt of lightning. The Machop uttered a small cry and toppled forward, static bolts rippling over its body. The match was over. The grunt growled, clenching his fist tightly as he recalled his fainted Pokemon. "You got lucky, little girl," he hissed. "Next time, I'll crush you."
Katie shrugged, glancing quickly at Kord who was standing protectively in front of her, refusing to let it show just how tired he was. "Whatever, sometimes luck is a key factor. You call me a little girl when in reality you're the one blaming other things for your loss. If you ask me, you're the lucky one, because no one else was around to see you lose to a little girl!"
The grunt growled again and took a menacing step forward, but a rain of sparks from the Elekid's prongs caused him to stop. "Whatever," he growled. Something seemed to make him change his mind and he turned and walked away. Once his back was turned, he smiled, though it went unseen by Katie who was still seething with rage at the man's underestimating her.
Once he'd turned the corner and was out of sight, Kord's bravery and energy ran out and the Elekid toppled over, panting heavily from the exhaustion. "Kord," Katie whispered, scooping the tired little spark plug up in her arms. "You're pretty amazing," she told the electric-type as she started walking towards the stairs, longing for bed. It had been quite the day and she too was quite exhausted.

Getting back to the painting, Cathy was starting to use smaller strokes as she kept shifting her gaze back and forth from the trio of models and their likeness she was creating on the canvas. She was using several palettes now and Marcel was on hand to help her swap them over as was frequently needed. This time she didn’t chat at all and was in deep concentration, the only words she said was the main colour of the palette she needed next. Remmy, meanwhile, was painting his own picture on a simple wooden board, only using his blue tipped tail to paint. By the looks of it he could adjust the saturation of the colour by concentrating on what he was doing, and slowly his picture was taking shape. It was a picture of Colandra and Twinkers! Remmy seemed to act a little cold and distant, but he really did have a good heart. With the chatting stopped, this sitting seemed to take forever. Akane didn’t want to distract Cathy, so she kept the silence and held her pose even as her arms and legs were starting to ache. Finally, as the sun started to dip lower and Cathy’s light started to worsen she called for a break. Akane eagerly took the chance to sit and grab a drink. Modeling could be hard work, though it was easier when she could talk. “So let’s see what we have for eats” Cathy announced as she set down her current palette, one dominated by greens. After some time rummaging through her fridge and pantry she continued, “how about tacos?” “Sound awesome!” “I’ll brown the beef and toast the shells, you cut up some tomatoes, and grate some cheese? “ “Sounds like a plan!” came the cheerful reply from Cathy’s houseguest.
The tacos proved to be just as fun to prepare as to eat. Cathy shredded the lettuce and stuck a large piece between her teeth while Akane wasn’t looking and said, “Is there something I my teeth?” which made the pair bust a gut laughing. Colandra and Marcel continued their secretive huddling and dancing in the corner, while Remmy kept working on his painting of the little Oddish and her Clefairy friend, both depicted looked tired and were resting against each other. Twinkers stuck close to Akane beaming at how happy her bestest friend was. As it turned out, Cathy didn’t need Akane to pose again for the evening. She was working on a background for the trio to be showcased in, and as it took shape Akane could see that it was going to be a dark forested background. From the perspective used it looked like Akane and her Pokemon were about to battle the viewer as the viewer looked down on her from a tree branch or something equally high. In the shadows of the background Akane could make out those yellow eyes peering out at her likeness. Just seeing them in the painting made her skin crawl. She looked away and focused on watching some TV, a weather update said it should be a fine day tomorrow, but rain was approaching in the next few days. But the next show was more interesting - a re-run of a contest at Fallarbor town for a contest ribbon. It was pretty exciting and some brown haired girl with a red bandana ended up winning, but Akane was secretly cheering for a cute green haired boy and was disappointed when he got knocked out of the competition. It made her wonder if she could do contests one day, but she ultimately decided that was something to think of later when she had some more experience battling and found her own style.

While it was true that Karrigan had not used her Kadabra much in battle before, save for their first meeting and against Amber, she was confident in the Psychic-type's power, so naturally she felt that confidence take a dive when Lennier's Confusion attack didn't seem to do much more than make the Victreebel blink and scratch at its belly a bit. Shouldn't that have been more effective? she asked herself, recalling that Poison-types were weak to Psychic-type moves.
Lennier, hearing his trainer's thoughts, thought-spoke back to her, his eyes never leaving the Victreebel's. I believe this opponent is far stronger than we initially wagered, his calm voice stated, though Karrigan sensed that even the Kadabra was a bit nervous now. This nervousness amplified when the Victreebel's vine lashed out like a whip, glowing with an eerie dark aura. Lennier's calm resolve never wavered even as the vine whipped his hand, sending his cherished Twisted Spoon clattering to the ground. The Dark-type attack was super effective and now pain radiated down his arm, but again, he showed no signs of it bothering him.
Lennier's telepathy gave Karrigan an idea, and she narrowed her eyes, suddenly aware of the fact that this battle was already doomed, and it had barely even started. Lennier, use Kinesis, she said. I'm not sure we can win this, but we must try.
I agree, Milady, let us try. Despite having lost his Twisted Spoon, Lennier held up his hands, an illusion of a spoon appearing before him. His psychic energy caused the spoon to bend as though it were made of clay, sending out a strange ripple of energy as a result. Perhaps they could make life difficult for the Victreebel if it could not land any hits.
=-=-=-=-= The wheels in Jake's head began to turn as Jade mentioned the Pokemon that possibly only came out at night, and he idly wondered what training a Ghost-type would be like as he took a large bite of the cold pizza he'd chosen for himself. At first he considered pretending that he hadn't heard Jade's last comment, but he quickly decided that it would probably be better to play along, as it seemed to be more fun to trade insults with the raven-haired girl than to ignore her. "Oh, I wouldn't get scared," he said, wiping away some stray pizza sauce from the corner of his mouth with a second napkin, "not when I have you to protect me." Okay, so he wasn't really insulting her back a lot of the time, as it didn't seem right, but whatever. They were getting along (sort of) and that was good enough for him. He'd never mention it aloud, but traversing the forest, day or night, seemed like a better idea with someone else rather than going it alone, and he wondered if Jade was really as brave as she appeared to be, or if she was only putting on a show to appear as such. But still, he didn't think they'd know for sure what they'd do tonight until they actually reached the forest's entrance. After all, it might appear more dark and sinister than they imagined, or it might be just the opposite. They wouldn't know until they got there.
((Jake's post is kinda short but I couldn't think of anything else to write... ._. ))

Erika watched with satisfaction as the Kadabra was successfully disarmed of his Twisted Spoon, though the Psychic-type didn't appear to be very hurt by the Knock Off. Either that, or her Kadabra has an iron will, Erika thought to herself. The thing that did unnerve her, however, wast he fact that after her initial command for Confusion, Karrigan hadn't uttered another word, and Erika quickly realized her challenger was communicating with her Pokemon through telepathy, which would make countering them a much more difficult task. The giant spoon that appeared was a bit startling, especially considering how it folded like paper and the gym leader frowned, watching as her Victreebel was affected by the odd energy waves. What did Kinesis do again, exactly?
The Grass-type expert composed herself and pointed at their opponents. She was a gym leader, and she wasn't going to let it show that something as tricky as telepathy would bother her. "All right, Victreebel, let's shake things up a bit! Razor Leaf!" The Flycatcher Pokemon gave a shriek in reply, rearing back and slashing the air with its two large leaves, resulting in a barrage of sharp leaves sailing through the air. Victreebel's accuracy was off, however, thanks to the Kinesis and the attack went rather wide. Erika frowned, but said nothing. Lennier wouldn't have to so much as move a finger to evade that wayward attack.
=-=-=-=-= Mai continued to watch the battle from the comfort of her room, both amused and somewhat impressed. True, she'd told the grunt to go easy on her but it turned out that wasn't really needed. Even when her minion started to fight back with all his strength, Katie's Elekid was able to win it with its powerful Electric-type attacks, and she clicked her tongue. The girl's team, while still somewhat young, had potential, and she knew she'd be quite a fearsome opponent once they were all fully-evolved. The Rocket admin laughed out loud once Katie started to berate her opponent after the loss, but Mai was quick to get on the radio and call him off. "Relax, she passed the test," Mai hissed into the microphone. "Harm her, and you'll be sorry."
She leaned back as the grunt left and she sighed, closing her eyes. It had been a long day, indeed, and Mai was exhausted. She still hadn't chosen a first mission for Katie, so she flipped open her laptop and sent a message to Giovanni to see if there was anything else he wanted done in the region; something that could be handled by the lowest-ranking of grunts, which unfortunately, Katie still was. Mai knew that her boss would likely already have turned in for the night, but he was always an early riser and would likely respond early in the morning. Feeling like she accomplished a lot for today, Mai finally allowed herself to begin her bedtime routine. The woman needed her beauty sleep, after all.

Amy frowned a little, wondering why Lennier's Confusion attack hadn't done that much damage. Even she knew her type advantages; why hadn't it worked? She is the fourth gym leader, the girl thought, lips turning downward in a frown. Maybe her Pokemon are at much higher levels than we thought. If that was true, then how would she fare against the third gym leader? Not well, she knew. But she needed to try anyways.
Her frown worsened when Lennier appeared to be acting on his own, until she remembered the Psychic-type's strange way of communication. That's smart, she'll have some advantage with that, Amy thought with some small relief. Flora seemed to understand it, too, exchanging a glance with her trainer, but Lee seemed less and less interested in the battle. He was itching to fight on his own, to see what his trainer was capable of, not the trainer of that dumb Vulpix or a Psychic-type, of all things. He needed to prove himself.
Something rustled beside Amy, and a young girl stepped out from the bushes. She smiled at the bespectacled girl and sat beside her without a word, disturbing Lee and eliciting a sharp glare from him. The girl sat for a few moments, watching Victreebel and Lennier duke it out before she let out an exaggerated yawn. Amy paled, hoping neither trainer in the battle would notice, and turned towards the girl.
"This is boring," the little trainer said with a small smile. "I don't think your friend is doing very well, and I haven't had a good battle all day. Would you like to battle?" Amy opened her mouth to speak, but she glanced back at Karrigan and muttered something about how she didn't want to leave her. "Oh, I'm sure she won't mind! You'll be back to catch the end of the battle at the very least, I promise!" The girl grinned. "I'll even go easy on you, if that's what you're worried about." Amy knew she was trying to provoke her, and it somewhat worked, a small flash of anger burning through her. But she kept her expression calm and tried to swallow down the fear. It's now or never, she thought.
"Okay," she conceded quietly, and the girl grinned. She stood and stepped back through the bushes, Amy and Pokemon rising to follow. The bespectacled girl glanced towards her friend, hoping she wouldn't mind. Maybe she wouldn't even notice. I'll be back, I promise. Good luck, Karrigan. Amy hoped she would understand.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
"Oh, that's a good point. I would protect you," Jade replied smoothly with a confident nod. She had finished her orange quickly and moved on to the sandwich she had picked out, unwrapping the plastic around it and taking a bite. She chewed, expression thoughtful, and glanced back at Solaris and Aquarius. I definitely ought to try for a Grass-type or something in that forest, day or night. She was still irritated that she had to give up going over to battle the first gym leader, but there would be a time when she could loop back around and get that badge soon enough.
"We should battle sometime," she said suddenly, glancing back towards her blonde companion. "You'd probably win without breaking a sweat, but maybe..." She paused, taking another bite and trying to cover up the admittance of her own weakness. "Maybe when we have more Pokemon. More badges." Maybe when we have full teams. That seemed like it would be years from now, but she didn't let it get to her. It was one step at a time, right? The girl took a drink from her water, trying to carefully gauge Jake's reaction.

Karrigan also had to admit that she felt slightly nervous every time Erika was about to issue an order, and she watched as the Victreebel launched a volley of sharp leaves toward Lennier. Lennier, you should dodge, she thought, but her brow creased when she saw the attack already going wide. Err, never mind. Out of the corner of her eye, she saw a young girl approach Amy, and after exchanging a few words, the two went off, presumably to battle. Of course Karrigan didn't mind, as she knew Amy had been wanting to have battles of her own and get in some training with her new Tyrogue. There was that, and she didn't think her bespectacled friend needed to see this, and she sincerely hoped Amy's battle went better than hers seemed to be going. Use Confusion again, Karrigan thought-spoke, her gaze flickering from the Victreebel, to Erika. The gym leader was so calm, so collected, and the redhead couldn't help but wonder what went through a gym leader's mind when they were faced with a challenger.
Lennier simply nodded in response, feeling somewhat strange without the Twisted Spoon in hand and he raised his hand, concentrating in order to shoot off another blast of psychic energy at the Flycatcher Pokemon. The Kadabra also had a sinking feeling about this match, but that didn't mean he was going to give up without a fight.
=-=-=-=-= Even with his excellent manners, Jake's food was disappearing rapidly, but this was definitely not a bad thing as he felt better and better with every bite. He simply smiled at Jade's response and finished off the rest of his cola, though he nearly choked when she suddenly proposed that they battle. It was more because he wasn't expecting her to say something like that, though she quickly remedied her statement. Once again, the spiky blonde wiped his mouth with his napkin, and smiled warmly at the raven-haired girl. "More Pokemon would make it more fun," he said, the thought of his Pokemon being stronger than Jade's not even occurring to him - sometimes he really was too much of a nice guy - and he shrugged. Even though he was (sort of) new to this whole battling thing, he rather enjoyed it, and he thought he was good at it. More than that, he wanted to help Jade get stronger too, so that she would be strong enough to fight off whatever it was she'd run away from.
At the prospect of a battle, Bibarel had sat up straight, her tail hitting the floor with a loud slapping sound. It was obvious that the Beaver Pokemon was for it, and she ignored Grotle as he seemed to slink back, obviously not as enthusiastic about fighting as his teammate. An idea had occurred to Jake, however, and he stacked his dirty dishes neatly as he worded his thoughts. "Well, how about this," he started, standing up and beginning to pile their combined trash on his tray for disposal, "since we're already here, at the Pokemon Center, why don't we finish up here, head outside, and have a training match? We're both fairly inexperienced, but I think it could be good for both of... us," he finished, finding it odd to use words like 'we' and 'us'. He felt the telltale prickling of the start of a blush in his cheeks but he got it under control pretty quickly. "I mean, that is, if you want to. You know. Whatever." Once again he felt like a giant idiot as he took the garbage-filled tray and dumped it, stacking the dirty dishes neatly on the counter. As much as he didn't want to face Jade right away, he knew she'd be waiting to toss some sort of insult or sarcastic remark at his face so he'd best just get it over with.
=-=-=-=-= Karrigan wasn't the only one pondering what her opponent may be thinking, as Erika didn't like being in the dark when her opponent communicated with her Pokemon via telepathy. She also often wondered what her challengers were thinking as they made their attacks, but since she herself was not blessed with psychic power, perhaps she'd never know. She was certain now, however, that Karrigan's Kadabra did not know how to use Psybeam as another Confusion attack came toward her Victreebel. This time, the Flycatcher Pokemon did try to dodge, but he wasn't quite fast enough. This Confusion was slightly less powerful than the one from before, and he still had plenty of fight left in him, and Erika smiled. Next to her Vileplume, Victreebel was one of her most reliable Pokemon.
"Okay Victreebel, it's time to fight back," she called. "Show them your lovely Giga Drain!" The Celadon Gym Leader's voice got slightly louder as she gave the command, but she still wore a bright smile and she seemed quite cheerful - rightfully so, as she appeared to have the upperhand in this match so far. Victreebel hopped forward, his long vine slashing the air as he raised up his two, large leaves. His mouth gaped open hungrily as he began to draw in the Kadabra's life energy, eager to feed and replenish the health he'd lost.

Cindy trotted into the open door, flaming patches on her back and head fizzling out as soon as she crossed the threshold. Scarlet wasn’t far behind, hands in pocket and eyebrows furrowed as he shuffled into line behind the other two boys. As he took hold of Cindy’s pokeball and returned her with a crimson flash, he thought about the upcoming battle. Jett didn’t have a terrible amount of trouble with Falkner, his biggest problem being roost, and that without a type advantage.
The thought that Bugsy should’ve only been a little stronger, and both he and Jett would have a sort of advantage most definitely gave Scarlet a hope spot. But Jett didn’t seem to be feeling it. Scarlet approached the counter and dropped off his three pokeballs, and while the nurses whisked the spheres off, Jett proposed a trip to the poke mart to prepare. “I’m in,” Scarlet said, stroking his chin. “Terumi’ll need a decent attack or two.”
As the redhead scooped up his pokeballs and thanked Nurse Joy, Jasper started to give Jett a desperately needed pep talk. Scarlet flashed his biggest smile and nodded. “You beat Falkner, remember? You’ll beat Bugsy too, no doubt!”

"My name is Tina," the girl said as she led them into another, smaller clearing. She smiled brightly at the older girl, who still seemed apprehensive. Amy tried to ignore the pounding of her heart, knowing that she had to move forward. If she looked back, if she took one step in the wrong direction, then she might as well just admit defeat. "Your name would be a big help, too," Tina continued after a few moments, pretending not to notice the way the bespectacled girl paled before her.
"O-oh, sorry. I'm Amy," she replied quietly, daring to glance over at her Pokemon. Flora looked quite concerned, but Lee had a different look in his eyes. Without being asked, without question, the Tyrogue stepped before his trainer and narrowed his eyes at the other trainer. Tina merely smiled at that and released her first Pokemon--a Bulbasaur. Amy seemed unable to order any moves from Lee, wringing her hands nervously as she appraised the Grass/Poison-type. I don't think Fighting moves would be very effective... or Grass moves, either. I shouldn't have done this. I should've stayed and watched the battle.
"Let's get this show on the road!" Tina cheered, pointing at the Scuffle-Pokemon. "Bulbasaur, go on and use your Take Down attack!" The Bulbasaur nodded in return and began to charge at Lee, who seemed to brace himself, unmoving. Amy felt her heart begin to beat faster, trying to remember all of Lee's moves, trying to think of which would work best. Bulbasaur was nearing, closer and closer, and Lee wasn't even doing anything. He had fought Marshall so well!
"Dodge it," Amy croaked, voice hoarse. The Grass/Poison-type was so close! "D-dodge it, Lee!" she said, a bit louder, and when Bulbasaur seemed to be on the verge of hitting, the Fighting-type turned on his heel and spun, narrowly avoiding the Take Down and bringing his leg back around to sweep Bulbasaur's legs out from under her. She grunted, skidding along the ground and wincing before glaring over at her opponent. Amy looked at her Pokemon, her glance apologetic, but he didn't seem to notice. Now, his fists clenched and he hopped back and forth, smirking. It's our turn, Amy realized with a sinking feeling. We should attack now.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
She finished the rest of her sandwich quickly, and she was glad that she didn't have food in her mouth when Jake suggested a battle, here and now. Her instinct was to refuse, because she would lose, she would lose and she would spend days dwelling on it, but at the same time, she wanted to see how well she could fight. And see how well Jake could fight, too. The raven-haired girl took another drink of water and glanced at her Pokemon.
"What do you guys think?" she asked. Aquarius seemed indifferent towards the subject, if not a bit apprehensive, but Solaris seemed overtly enthusiastic. The Fire-type cried in agreement, eager to prove herself and boast her strength. Jade found herself smiling at them both and her gaze returned to Jake. "I'd say that's a yes." She collected her trash and threw it away, before recalling Solaris and Aquarius. When they were both ready, Jade filed out to the training area behind the Pokecenter, glad that it was empty. She was also glad for the nice weather, though she had noticed that Sinnoh was quite cooler than Johto.
"Let's see what you've got, Jake," Jade said, grabbing a Pokeball.
=-=-=-=-=-=-=-==-=-=-=-=
He resisted jumping a little when Jasper clapped him on the back, glancing over at the older boy with raised eyebrows. Jett hadn't expected that out of him, and he grew even more surprised when Scarlet joined in. They're your friends, of course, the small rational part of his mind told him. There's no reason to worry. Slowly, he nodded, letting it sink in. Then, he grinned uncertainly.
"I-- thanks, guys," he said, his grin broadening despite himself. "I don't know what I was thinking... but I really appreciate it." He clipped the Pokeballs back to his belt and, spirits lifted, led the way to the Pokemart. If he was lucky, he could find some useful TMs for Aerosmith or Athena. The section that seemed most helpful was the light-blue colored Flying-type section, which seemed quite... sparse. Well, since the town's leader is a Bug-type trainer, I guess he wouldn't want his opponents well-stocked. Still, he managed to find one TM (TM88, Pluck) that seemed like it would be useful. He made his way to the counter and paid for it, glad that his battle with Falkner had left him with much more money than before. Flash, Aerial Ace, and Pluck... Along with natural moves, we should have some upper hand. He was beginning to think that he had a shot of coming out with his second badge from this place.

Keegan stayed in the shower until the water ran cold, and even after that point he remained a little longer. He dried himself off and put on a pair of pajama pants he found at the bottom of his backpack. His clothes in the washer were long since finished the cycle and he hastily hurled the bundle of wet garments into the dryer and started it up as well. No one else seemed to be needing the machine for now so he left it to do its work before he ambled off toward the lobby to see if there were any rooms available. For a moment the nurse almost seemed disappointed that he wasn't wearing just a towel this time and directed him to the very room he'd used the last time he was here. He also hadn't noticed before, but there was a television sitting quietly in the corner of the room and he flipped it on. Naturally, the story on Jaeshan's death was still being covered quite closely, though there hadn't been any changes. The redhead sighed and looked away from the screen. It seemed so random, and for a guilty moment Keegan suddenly wished he'd been nicer to Jae. The blonde had never really done anything to deserve it.
Keegan grumbled to himself and flipped the channel, deciding against giving himself a guilt trip for now. It seemed nothing good was on, until he flipped past a channel with a familiar girl with jet black hair. Intrigued he changed it back, smirking when he saw it was a highlight reel from a contest. Riza seemed very happy with the blue ribbon she'd won but Keegan didn't care to watch any more than that. He shut the television off and flopped on the bed, face down. It almost felt like he'd gained a second wind as he suddenly wasn't tired anymore, but he closed his eyes anyway, and the next thing he knew, he opened them to see sunlight beaming in through the window. Sunrise, he thought, rolling over and stretching. So much for not being tired. It had been only about ten last night when he'd fallen asleep, and a quick glance at his watch showed that it was five-thirty on the dot, the exact time he'd always awaken at home to start his chores. It never mattered what time he went to bed, he'd always wake up at five-thirty. He rolled over again and haphazardly swung his legs over the side of the bed, flinching from the cold tile beneath them. Despite his solid sleep he still felt a little worn out, but he figured it was because of everything that happened yesterday, and the sleepless nights leading up to it.
The first thing Keegan noticed was that his clothes had somehow magically made it to his room in a neat, folded pile, as did his Pokeballs, and he chuckled, holding up his shirt and examining it. It was relatively unscathed, considering yesterday's events, and the same could be said for his jeans. After getting dressed and running his hands through his now somewhat-shaggy red hair he headed out into the lobby to turn in his key and figure out his plans for the day. ===== Miharu fought off another blush and accepted the napkin, using it to clean the gravy from her chin. "Yes, you're right," she agreed, smiling up at the older trainer. There was plenty of time between Goldenrod and Olivine City, and she was sure there'd be plenty of battles along the way, though after a moment or so, she realized something. "We?" she asked, looking a bit confused. "What do you mean by that?"
Lee smirked in reply, a bit surprised his statement hadn't gone completely over her head. "Well," he said, feigning a bit of shyness, "you're tough, and you're pretty cute, and, well, I like you. I was thinking maybe we could travel together for a while, you know? I don't know a whole lot about the Johto Region, since I spent a lot of time in Hoenn lately, and I bet there's a lot I could learn from you. Especially after you curb-stomped me in that battle," he added with a sheepish chuckle, even though the thought of that loss caused a surge of anger to rush through him. "I mean, you know. If you want me to. If not, that's okay too." They'd started on their dessert now, or rather Miharu had, and he watched her carefully, trying to read her expressions.
A strange, fluttery feeling tickled in Miharu's heart and she pretended to be interested in the melting scoop of ice cream that rested on top of her apple pie. This sort of thing was all new to her, as she'd never expected a boy to find her interesting, or even cute, for that matter. Her cousin had once compared her to a gremlin and she frowned involuntarily, causing Lee to frown as well, thinking he'd pushed too far, too soon. "I-I would like that," Miharu said finally, looking back up at Lee again and smiling warmly. Her nervousness was all but gone, and Lee breathed a sigh of relief, neither trainer glancing up at their server as their bill was set down on the table between them.

“The contests sure are neat, I sometimes wish I went in for that kind of thing and I wonder how I would fare.” Cathy had finished painting and had snuck up on a pondering Akane. Akane jumped a little. “Oh, your done for now?” Akane’s painter friend nodded. “Getting a bit tired. Can’t concentrate hard enough when I’m tired.” She looked down at her paint spattered clothes and colorful hands. “Looks like I should have another shower” she grinned. Half an hour later a washed Cathy emerged from the bathroom yet again, this time ready for bed by the looks of her white tank top and Torchic print boxer shorts. It made Akane wish she was confident enough to wear something like that in front of others. She’d feel too exposed to be comfortable. “Rain in a few days?” Cathy said in response to another weather update. “We should leave for Pewter City tomorrow after lunch, I hate having to walk all the way back here in the rain …” “Are you sure? I mean, didn’t you want to paint me?” Akane asked. “I think I have enough to work with now, and maybe you will want to come back after the rain is done.” Akane nodded. That would give her some time to get her Pokedex checked out, and get some more information about the Pewter Gym. Maybe get a little more battle experience too. Colandra needed a few extra battles under her belt before she felt the Oddish was strong enough to tackle a gym. The pair half watched what was on the TV, but mostly chatted and giggled their way to reasonable bedtime of around half past ten. Well, reasonable considering the bad nights Akane had endured the last few nights.
Akane got ready for bed quickly; she didn’t need another bath, and got back into her pajamas and snuggled into the blanket on the couch. Cathy had fished out a blank notebook while Akane was brushing her teeth and laid it down on the coffee table, a pen resting atop it waiting for Akane to use. The young painter took her turn in the bathroom and was done rather quickly, yet Akane was already getting heavy eyelids and sleep was not far off. “Goodnight kiddo” Cathy whispered to Akane as she passed to get to her own bed. She paused and then went over and kissed Akane on the forehead. “Have some good dreams this time” she urged quietly. The young girl was asleep on the couch before Cathy had finished getting ready for bed, but the dreams that came were not much better than her current track record. The details were hazy to Akane when she woke, the only things that were clear was a pervading darkness and the yellow eyes looming large over her, almost like they were trying to pierce her soul. It wasn’t anything that woke her in the night, but it was enough to make for a restless night sleep filled with tossing, turning and thrashing. Again, at around dawn the dark dreams gave way to peaceful slumber. Akane woke earlier than normal and was up by eight o’clock. “Good morning Cathy!” said Akane as joyfully as she felt. A better nights sleep did wonders. “Oh, you’re up early today. Maybe I can get a little more of that painting done before we leave.” “Sure thing, but first what’s for breakfast?” “Well, let’s see. I won’t be back for a little while, so we have to use up the stuff that could go bad before we go.” Cathy was looking carefully through her fridge, throwing out the things she found that were bad already, as well as making a note of what breads she had out already. “Aha!”

The first thing on his to-do list today was quite obviously food, and a rather ravenous Keegan invaded the cafeteria with his equally ravenous Pokemon. Since it was still quite early, mostly everything was still in the process of being cooked or fresh out of the oven or off the grill and Keegan piled on eggs, bacon, biscuits, cheese, french toast, waffles, virtually anything he could get his hands on. After several trips back and forth to the counter, he and his Pokemon had enough food to feed a small army and they hungrily dove in, any regard for manners or gentlemanly behavior thrown right out the window. The massive feeding frenzy didn't calm down again until every scrap of food had been consumed, and after polishing off his third cup of coffee, Keegan recalled his party and began the grueling task of cleanup. It didn't take long once he got started, though for some reason it made him miss cooking, which was something he was very good at. As he placed the tower of dirty dishes on the counter, prompting an unimpressed look from the server, he thought about his Pokemon, and what steps he'd take next in his training.
He was well aware of the fact that Helios, Themis and Loki were quite strong, and Althena and Tierra as well. He hadn't gotten a chance yet to test Shiva's strength since she evolved but he planned to remedy that soon. Despite his awareness of just how strong his primary Pokemon were, the fact that Helios had once been taken away from him still weighed heavily on his mind and he could not bear to remove the Ninetales from his party. He finally decided to swap four of the six, leaving Helios and Shiva and adding Eithne, Pan, Moeder and Artemis. He did just that, being careful to change each party member carefully so as not to make any mistakes, and when he was finished, he now carried three Pokeballs, two Great Balls and a Safari Ball. He still hadn't decided which Pokemon he would use to challenge the Petalburg Gym, but he had quite a ways to go before he got there, so he had plenty of time to think things through and put together a game plan. ===== Instinctively, Miharu reached for the bill but Lee's hand was quicker, snatching it away as he shook his head at the girl. "Hey, I said my treat, remember?" He patted Miharu's hand playfully, pulling his wallet from his back jeans pocket, which Miharu noticed was attached to a gold chain on his belt. She sighed a little as she watched him walk toward the cashier to pay for their meal, still a little bit in disbelief. Lee handed over a few bills to their server, glancing back at Miharu and smiling broadly when he saw her looking his way. She quickly finished up her apple pie and carefully stacked her dishes so they could be cleared away easily, and by that time, Lee had returned, stuffing the change he'd gotten back in his pocket. "So... ready to head out?" he asked.
Miharu nodded, standing up and clearing away a few pie crumbs from her lap. "Yes," she agreed, though a glance out the window showed it was already dark outside.
Leroy looked out the window as well, sensing Miharu's apprehension. "Well, let's just head back to the Pokemon Center for the night, and we can set out tomorrow. I'm sure it's better for us to leave bright and early rather than stumble around in the darkness.
The green-haired girl nodded again in agreement as the two then headed back outside and made the return trip to the Pokemon Center, more small chat passing between them. Leroy had been away from Johto for a while, as he'd spent a lot of time recently traveling in Hoenn as he'd mentioned earlier, only he elaborated and recounted the three gym battles he'd won, slyly leaving out his crushing loss against the big-haired redhead of Lavaridge. They took their time heading back, with it being significantly later by the time they did make it. Unfortunately, there was only one room available in the Goldenrod City center, but Lee graciously gave it to Miharu, instead opting to sleep on one of the couches out in the lobby. His charming smile once again hid his sinister intentions as he bid the girl goodnight.

As far as Karrigan and Lennier were concerned, Victreebel's Giga Drain was most certainly not lovely, as Erika had called it, and the Kadabra put up his arms in a futile attempt to defend himself, but all he could do was utter a strangled cry as he was overwhelmed by a sudden wave of fatigue. The proof of his life energy being drained away was clearly visible in the large, shimmering green orbs that seemed to pop out from every spot on the Kadabra's body and traverse the field and into the Victreebel's eagerly awaiting mouth. Lennier gave a soft sigh, falling to his knees, and Karrigan could only hear one soft phrase in her head as the Psychic-type lost consciousness: "I am sorry..."
Karrigan's expression remained calm even though her heart felt like it had fallen into her stomach, and she recalled her Kadabra into the safety of his Pokeball with a surprisingly steady hand. She still did not want to bring out Ikouma just yet, but she was also reluctant to send out Amber or Zaira. The redhead exhaled a small, sharp breath through her nose as she took Ikouma's Pokeball in hand and gave it a toss. The Sneasel appeared in a flash of light, looking as calm and collected as his trainer. Karrigan's throat was a bit dry as she gave the command for Ikouma to lead off with Agility. Ikouma's greatest asset, aside from his intellect, was his speed, and he relaxed his body, eyes narrowed and fixed on his opponent. He would do whatever he could to win this match for his trainer.
=-=-=-=-= Jake couldn't help but grin as Jade conferred with her Pokemon about the potential training match, and he looked to his own Pokemon to see what they thought. Obviously, Bibarel was up for it, which was pretty much par for the course for her while Grotle seemed to pretend like he hadn't heard, even though Jake knew the Grass-type most certainly had. He finished cleaning up their table and recalled his own two Pokemon into their respective spheres and followed Jade outside. There was no one out here, which seemed natural considering the small population Floaroma Town seemed to house, and he looked up at the blue sky, also appreciative of the nice, albeit slightly cool, weather.
"Heh, you seem quite peppy for just a training match," the blonde replied, holding up a Pokeball of his own for just a second before he let it fly, revealing his ever-feisty Bibarel. The Beaver Pokemon narrowed her eyes and slapped her tail on the ground, kicking up a small dust cloud, eager to get things started.
=-=-=-=-= Victreebel was feeling rather refreshed and energetic after draining away the Kadabra's health and it waved its leaves around, looking on in interest as its fainted opponent was returned to its Pokeball. The Flycatcher Pokemon looked quite vicious but in actuality he was a gentle-natured Pokemon, and both he and Erika felt a slight chill as the Sneasel appeared on the field. The gym leader knew it was an Ice-type and that it was fast, though she couldn't recall battling one before (or lately, at least), and she frowned. Regardless, she was ahead by one Pokemon, and she intended to keep it that way, and the dark-haired gym leader nodded to herself. "Let's keep up the momentum, Victreebel, use Sludge Bomb!"
Victreebel's head still felt a little fuzzy from the odd energy of the Kinesis, but that wouldn't slow him down. His stomach seemed to swell for a moment before the Flycatcher Pokemon essentially vomited up a disgusting, black ball of sludge that flew toward the Sneasel. Both he and his trainer wanted to showcase the fact that their gym was not a pushover.

It took them another hour, three more try on's for each out fit until they finally compromised with a combination of the two outfits. The sales girl quickly packaged them up after Dante paid with the card his mom gave him for food and clothes and such. He really didn't mind a new outfit every once in a while, especially since it was probably the only pair of nice clothes that he had. Both Dante and Leo headed out back towards the pokemon center. He was in a bit of a better mood when Leo handed him a cigarette as well. He hadn't had a smoking partner since Keegan, actually he was the only one who other then the redhead who didn't complain about his bad habits and actually joined him. The two of them were silent as they headed back to the pokemon center to see what Angelic was up to.
They skipped going through the center and just went out around to the back. Unfortunatly the pretty blond and the Dusclops did not seem to be there. Dante felt his eyebrow raise in annoyance as Leo huffed in annoyance. Where did she go? Well, the only way to know was to ask around. Figuring that Nurse Joy might know Dante headed inside while Leo asked around outside among the other trainers.
Dante waited by the counter until it looked like the Nurse had a moment before asking. "Nurse Joy, do you happen to know where a blond girl and a Dusclops went? They were out in the back a few hours ago but they don't seem to be there now."
The nurse, cast Dante a suspicious look, probably wondering what he was doing asking about something like that. Dante interrupted before she could accuse him of wanting to rob her or something. "That Dusclops is mine. She said she wanted to teach it some contest stuff or something. I don't know for sure. I just want to check up on them." Dante could be nice when he wanted to.
The look on the nurses face cleared up and she smiled at him. "I heard her say something about heading down route 214 to find a spot to train away from prying eyes. I don't know if that helps but you might want to try there?"
Thanking the nurse Dante headed out again his bag of clothes, and egg securely tucked in the clothes, at his side. Heading over to Leo the two of them talked a moment and discovered they pretty much had the same story. Since they had no more business at the pokemon center they both headed out and towards the gate that would lead them to route 214.

"That's the spirit," Jasper grilled, thankful that Scarlet had joined in on the 'cheer-up-Jett' campaign. He had no doubts in his mind that the dark-haired boy could take on Bugsy's gym and come out a winner, especially considering that he had a bug-eating owl and a bad-tempered butterfly on his side, not to mention a psychic type. Jasper himself was almost a tiny bit jealous that he would not be challenging a gym any time soon, but he managed to push the envy aside and be happy being a supporter for now.
So, with Jett's spirits lifted and their cache of Pokemon all rested up and ready to go, Jett led the march to the PokeMart, Scarlet in tow. Jasper hung a bit behind, feeling oddly uneasy with Ditto not perched on his shoulder in some form or other, but the spirited transformer needed its rest after being such an asset in their travel through the cavern. As they neared the mart, a man, probably in his forties or so, was grumbling into his cellphone, which was mashed between his shoulder and his ear. He seemed angry, and for a brief second he made eye contact with Jasper, which ended with a glare being directed at the younger trainer. Jasper's eyes narrowed and he purposely bumped into the man, knocking him off balance and providing a golden opportunity for Jasper strip the man's pocket of his wallet. Unfortunately, Jasper's timing was off by a second or so and he didn't go completely unnoticed by the man, but fortunately, however, by the time the man realized something was up and had turned around to confront the boy, he'd already vanished into the PokeMart with his friends.
'Haven't done that in a while,' Jasper thought to himself, looking back at the door to the shop to make doubly sure the man hadn't seen where he'd gone, and he relaxed slightly, looking around at all the trainer-related merchandise stocking the shelves. He assumed that both Jett and Scarlet would head for the section that sold TMs, but that part of the store was a bit too rich for Jasper's blood. Instead, he browsed the Pokeball section but ultimately decided against buying any (of course that didn't include the one that seemed to disappear in between his nimble fingers). Aside from the single purloined Pokeball, he did choose to actually buy two Potions and two Antidotes, as anything more than that would probably draw attention to himself and that was the last thing he needed right now. He paid a whopping $800 for the medicinal items, and as he carefully flipped through the wallet that did not belong to him as he waited for Jett and Scarlet, he frowned upon realizing he'd picked the pocket of a man that barely had any money on him to begin with. "Figures," Jasper muttered, taking out the few bills that were inside and closed it. "Not even a credit card." What was there didn't even cover half of what he'd just paid, but it was better than nothing.
"Did you guys find what you wanted?" he asked casually once his two friends had finished their shopping. "Ready to hit the gym? Or is that on tomorrow's schedule?" * * * * * * * * * * Hayley, Lucy and Connor didn't slow down until they'd nearly reached Viridian City, though by that time all three of them were laughing quite heartily even though they were all out of breath. For some reason, narrowly escaping death by angry Beedrill had become funny rather than terrifying and as they strolled into town, the trio spoke of their death-defying escape as though it was nothing. The Pokemon, however, didn't seem to agree with their trainers' amusement, though they didn't really get a chance to voice their displeasure as they were all soon recalled into their respective Pokeballs.
"If it hadn't been for that Sleep Powder/Gust combination, we would have been in trouble," Hayley was saying. The brunette, of course, had taken out her drawing book and was busily sketching the baselines for a rather life-like Beedrill, looking as though it was thrusting out its stingers for its trademark Twineedle attack. She wanted to get a basic outline done before the terrifying images were no longer fresh in her mind, as her priorities were often different than those with normal thought patterns. Once she was finished there, she began to work on a sketch of Lucy's Pidgey and Bulbasaur working together to scatter the Sleep Powder around. Hayley was thrilled by all the amazing scenes she'd been lucky to sketch today.
"I don't know what made me think of it," Lucy admitted, her cheeks tinged with a slight pink. "But I am glad it worked."
"Me too," added Connor. "I've been stung by a Beedrill before, and it's not something I ever want to experience again. It hurts!"
"It is a shame about our battle, though," Lucy sighed, and Connor nodded in agreement.
"That was more fun than a battle," Hayley stated, prompting strange looks from both young trainers.
"Being attacked by a swarm of angry bees is your idea of fun?" Connor asked, raising an eyebrow.
"No, the getting-away part," Hayley corrected, finishing up a few things on her sketch before she closed the book and tucked it under her arm. "Things always work out for the best if you look on the bright side."
