Goku has been the inspiration for many characters, including Monkey D. Luffy from the One Piece series, Naruto Uzumaki from the Naruto series and also Zatch Bell from the Zatch Bell series, And most recently Toriko from the Toriko series.

Qyp Dragonball (Z) is win! Goku has been the inspiration for many characters, including Monkey D. Luffy from the One Piece series, Naruto Uzumaki from the Naruto series and also Zatch Bell from the Zatch Bell series, And most recently Toriko from the Toriko series. Well the Dragonball series was one of the earliest anime series to become popular. Of course there was inspiration that come from it. Just like modern music sprouted from seeds buried decades ago(And much further dependant on your genre of choice). Just like all education sprouted from the thirst for knowledge. It's all relative.

Unless you count Wing in my playing of the Dynasty Warriors: Gundam games. A friend of mine said all the stories were pretty accurate in the games

Also... Sailor Moon = First Americanized Anime
Tenshi Muyo = Second Americanized Anime ((Not including the 2nd or 3rd seasons even though they were completely different Anime))
Zoids = Third Americanized Anime ((Talking about the Liger Zero, not the newer one.))
Dragon Ball Z = Fourth Americanized Anime though it could be said that Card Captor Sakura was fourth. ^_^
((Of course, I'm also leaving out other Gems like Blue Seed and Slayers since it was stated "Popular")).
