I don't like snow much, and especially don't want it to snow around here. I don't want to drive in it.

Where I live, it doesn't snow, except for very rare occurances, like last Christmas. It was almost like every kid in our city prayed for snow at once and that was the result. Although, due to the extreame weather conditions of late, the weather men predict it could happen again this year.

Snow is fun, but I like not having to shovel my car out of the snow to go to work/shool.

Yeah shoveling the driveway is never fun... I get it all winter long where I am so every now and then I get asked to help shovel the driveway or the neighbor's car out of a newly formed snow bank.

We get snow once every three to five years -- and I use the term "snow" very loosely. It usually lasts around fifteen minutes. A few years ago, though, I got lucky -- there was enough for me to make a snowman fifteen inches high.

All you people who gripe about the snow, I'll trade you. Try living in a state where your skin broils six months out of the year. A place where, if the temperature hits the fifties in January, people around you start acting scared because they're not sure how to handle it. scream I'D RATHER HAVE THE SNOW!

Temp extremes in either direction aren't nice. When it feels like -40 C (sorry I don't know what that is in ferenheit)it's no fun either. It gets pretty warm in the summer too... I get all the extremes it just kind of sucks... I think that's why I like fall best.

DB, do you live in the southern part of the US as I do?! eek (That's a rhetorical question btw. xp ) Well, I think last year or a couple of years ago we had snow for the night, then it was almost gone by the next day. sweatdrop I remember one year that there was snow at my school and my dad made a snowman on his car and in the front lawn, but that was at least 8 years ago. When I say snow, I mean just snow that lasts for one night; we're fortunate if it lasts the next day.

Well, what about one of the parts that were hit by hurricane Katrina? Guess that makes two people out of the guild, that I know of. (One of the girls posted a picture of her, she lives near the coast in MS, from what I can tell.)

[tv_related_sarcasm]
Parts that were hit by Katrina? Didn't you all know that the ONLY place that Katrina did any damage was to New orleans? That they were taken by surprise by rising flood waters that TOOK THREE DAYS TO GET HIGH ENOUGH TO PREVENT WALKING OUT OF THE CITY? That only black welfare families were seperated and lost property? Why, I don't think I've seen so much as one report about anywhere else taking any damage!
[/sarcasm]

Seriously, it's really irritating. I have talked to a number of people that evacuated several days before it hit (mostly business owners and people with something to live for) and they commented on it. Most of them are quite disgusted at the way it's been handled by the media, primarily the attention given to the crime. They ALL say that crime like that is a given every day. Going out at night isn't an option in most areas, because voodoo cult groups will pull passerby's off the street into their cafe's to rape, mutilate or kill them. Not to mention the fact that Louisiana is a welfare state, which means the government officials are more interested in lining their pockets with welfare money than, y'know, planning for an evacuation or something. Did you know that they didn't have the Government mandated evacuation plan for their prison system? So basically, the situation was thus:

1: weather reported katrina was Cat5 and gonna make landfall.

2: Bush assembles the largest disaster relief force ever and puts it in the gulf to swoop in right after the hurricane dissipates.

3: anyone with a brain and the means evacuated. Only people left were those on welfare (who refused to leave because they don't pay well during evacs), those who really had no means to leave (some elderly, retired, or prisoners), or the really stubborn ("Oh, I've lived here nigh on to 100 years, and I don't believe anything's gonna change.").

4: Katrina makes landfall and demolishes WAY more than one stupid city.

5: Bush waits for the retard in charge of Louisiana to call him and say "come fix it" (ATM states have 'first responder rights' which means the federal government cannot put troops or supplies in disaster states until the governor calls the president and gives the go-ahead). GET IT STRAIGHT: BUSH WAS READY

6: Since there was no evacuation plan, the Louisiana government opened the prison doors and said "good luck". So now we have a remaining population that has been raised to believe they cannot take care of themselves (welfare) on which was released a ravenous pack of criminals.

7: Instead of banding together and protecting themselves, cooperating, and sharing (like human beings) they set fire to everything, shot at rescuers, and griped because they weren't getting things like showers or ice in their water.

Even during the WTC attacks you never saw crap like this. Even gang people were so appalled that they lended a hand in the rescue efforts. Basic human dignity demands cooperation in times of duress. However, this was completely lacking in New Orleans. Why? It's a welfare culture. Instead of taking a "get a job you bum" stance (as the bible commands) they have quietly and efficiently cultivated a victim mentality in a large part of the population, making them believe they are incapable of taking care of themselves and leaving them without the tools(mentally and emotionally speaking) to prevail in tribulations. Thus, they expected that they could kick back, do nothing and someone would swoop in and rescue them and coddle them and give them free stuff just for having a hard time. When this didn't happen immediately they became restless and began to kill each other and their would-be rescuers.

But then, I'm not surprised. This is what happens when you treat lazy, immoral people like some kind of endangered animal that needs protecting. Most of those people ('victims' they call them) should have been stoned at the city gate WAY before Katrina. Did you know that we have put troops, fresh back from Iraq, into Louisiana with shoot to kill orders? Did you? Can anyone give me a good reason why this is necessary, in America? No other disaster city that I am aware of has needed to do this at the same scale.

So, the master plan moves forward. What plan, you ask? Well, what have we learned from this is....

1: The liberal radicals are calling for government first responder rights: this means that the government can, for any 'good reason' that is not well defined, be able to declare a state a 'disaster area' and establish Martial Law (suspention of state's rights, and implementation of military rule) for a period as long as determined by 'disaster'. (IE "Oh, look at the state of your educational system! We're gonna fix it, so we're going to implement Martial law to bypass some legalese things IE stuff the government isn't legally allowed to do and cut right to the heart of the matter.")

2: It is absolutely normal, acceptable and reasonable to NEED OUR OWN TROOPS TO SHOOT AND KILL OUR OWN CITIZENS.

3: We should accept that we cannot take care of ourselves (notice that the ONLY places the news reported on were places that didn't even try to improve their situation even though they were more numerous) and that we need to increase the scope of government meddling in our lives.

It's amazing how much of this comes right out of Marx' Communist Manifesto.

Quote:
To my friends and family:

What I have seen since Katrina:
The poor and the wealthy hurt by the storm
Black, white, hispanic, oriental and Indian all hurt by the storm.
Christian people giving, giving, giving.
Churches going all out to minister in Jesus' name
Neighbors going door to door helping one another
Thugs and hoodlums going door to door looking for someone vunerable.
Ice and water being fought over as police tried to keep the peace.
People coming up from New Orleans taking over empty houses because shelters are full.
Out of town volunteers coming with food and staying for now a week still serving it.
The Churches all over this part of the country doing what Christians do in a crisis.
Fema doing a wonderful job in getting help to us The red Cross doing a great job in the shelters.

The Salvation Army doing a great job in the community.
Four Hundred crewman from everywhere bring back the power to our homes, churches and businesses.
Lines at service stations a block to a mile long.

National Guardsman patroling the streets of Mccomb along with Kentucky policemen protecting us from the hoodlums and thugs of McComb, Pike County and New Orleans (the most dangerous city in the world before Katrina.)
Drug dealers working outside shelters.
Doctors, nurses and other hospital personnel working tirelessly,
even sleeping at the hospital to do the job God called them to do.

WHAT I HAVE NOT SEEN:
The ACLU setting up a feeding line.
People for the American Way helping in the shelters
The NAACP doing any work whatsover
The American Atheist organization serving meals in the shelters.
Jesse Jackson directing traffic at the gas stations

I could go on, but you get my message. Its the Christian people with love and compassion who do the work. The gripers in Congress should come on down and get in line to pass the water and the ice. Are you listening Hillary, Chuck, Teddy and all the sorry loafers we call Senators and Congressmen. They don't have a clue as to what this life is all about here on the gulf coast.

Boy I feel better now.

David A. Millican

I challenge anyone to show one mainstream news organization that doesn't give this impression. Also, to anyone that would accuse me of racism, I am a hodgepodge of minorities myself(including a large part Indian, the magic bullet minority, if you don't understand ask and I will explain), so back off. I don't care what 'race' you are, get a job or die(2 Thessalonians 3:10).
Quote:
Thing I have learned from watching the news on TV during the last eight
days:

The hurricane only hit black families' property.

New Orleans was devastated and no other city was affected by the
hurricane .

Mississippi is reported to have a tree blown down.

New Orleans has no white people.

The hurricane blew a limb off a tree in the yard of an Alabama resident.

When you are hungry after a hurricane, steal a big screen TV.

The hurricane did 23 billion dollars in improvements to New Orleans. Now
the city is welfare, looters and gang free and they are in your city

White folks don't make good news stories.

Don't give thanks to the thousands that came to help rescue you, instead
b***h because the government hasn't given you a debit card yet.

Only black family members got separated in the hurricane rescue efforts.

Ignore warnings to evacuate and the white folks will come get you and
give you money for being stupid.

We are a victim culture. We ignore or ridicule those willing to stand up and meet the issues head-on, but give special place to people that inflict disaster upon themselves. Get shot defending your country? You might get some basic aid, if you can make it through the protestors to the free clinics. Get hurt by NOT getting out of the way of a hurricane when you had warning? Oh, people are falling on themselves trying to rescue you when they SHOULD leave you there to DIE from your own stupidity. You wouldn't feel overly sorry for someone that builds their house on stilts in Tornado Alley(that's why most houses in the Alley states have basements), so why feel sorry for people that refuse to leave under their own power in the face of a pending disaster? We don't have Tornado sirens 'round these parts so we can ignore them. And WE only get a few seconds to a minute of warning. So no, I can't feel too sorry for someone who was given enough warning to find and rent a property in a different state (and with government help) who chose not to. Yes, there were people with no option to leave (critical patients in the hospitals and such), but they were a small minority and should have been the targets for rescue. Everyone else was able, but not willing. Welcome to reality.
