The sound of the door opening quietly penetrates the room as Duke walks in. He scans the tables for a place to sit, and finally sees a table near the wall. As he sits down, the waitress comes up.
"Ah, can I get a bowl of Miso soup, if you have any? Oh, and some black pepper, too." He says as he pulls a book from his pocket. He opens it's well-worn cover and flips through the pages, searching for his spot as the waitress jots something down (in her memory) and leaves for the kitchen.
(ooc: Any good for a new-comer? I've only just joined the guild. lol )

Duke looks up from his book, eyes still slightly glazed over as he looks at the waitress, then at the bowl. For a second, his mind is still in the book. Then his eyes shift back to normal, and he looks back up at the waitress. "Thanks, very much. I wasn't sure a bar would have miso soup. This looks perfect, thanks."
He takes the black pepper and pours out about one-fourth of the shaker's amount into the bowl, and starts stirring it with a cupped ceramic spoon as he tries to finish his chapter before the soup cools past it's perfect zone.
