Stretching the kinks that had suddenly formed in her shoulders, Mairyela stood from her table. Pausing a moment, she considered Airene's offer. Deciding it best, she headed outside instead of upstairs to a bed. Though she was tired from the traveling, she feared she may fall asleep and miss the man that had caught the inn keepers interest.

Walking into the streets, she saw the crowds had begun to thin off. With night on it's way, even long time residents hated being out after dark. She supposed old habits were hard to break. There were so many new faces about the city these days; newcomers probably still had misconceptions about Aes Sedai and witchcraft. Others knew Tar Valon to be a hot spot for trouble, and they didn't want to get involved.

With still a good hour until dusk, she decided to wander the streets. The city was a beauty, and she enjoyed the feel of it as well. To her, it had always seemed inviting. She roamed the streets for what felt to be quite a while, making a small circle of the city. She sometimes stopped to talk with those who knew her, and sometimes those who did not. She and her Blue sisters involve themselves with causes and justice. There was no way to defend those who were afraid of you, so she wanted to make her mark on everyone she met.

By the time she reached The Lions Den once again, the sky had begun to darken, and the sun was low. Walking back inside, Airene was sitting at the table she had occupied before, drinking a cup of tea. "There you are! I knew you wouldn't leave without saying goodbye."

"Sitting annoys me. I need my legs taking me somewhere, or I'll go insane." Taking a seat next to the woman, she slung off her bow and set it besides her chair. "When do you suppose the man will come by?"

"Any time now." the woman said around her cup. Downing the last bit, she set the cup aside. "It's right around this time he walks by. Strange character. You'll know what I mean when you see him."

Not too sure what her friend ment by her words, she sat in silence for a few minutes before she recieved a soft kick on the ankle. About to protest the treatment, Airene pointed hastily out the window. The man way tall and lanky, reminding her of a water reed. His mousey hair, deep set eyes and long nose would surely stick him out in a crowd. The look in his eyes was one of curiosity, as though he'd never been here before.

"That's him?"

"That's the one alright." Airene answered. "Odd looking fellow, isn't he?"

"Never judge anything before it's time. Thank you, friend, and good night to you." Without another word, Mairyela slipped outside and into the street, and wove a wall of air and light around herself. No one could see her as she followed the man to the bridge.

Laughing a bit at Alina's reaction he smiled. "You're kinda cute when you blush. Perhaps you should go dunk your head in some water and cool yourself?" he said jokingly, referring to the fact that she looked red enough to be radiating heat.

"Oh, also Clarissa, the Accepted Alina went with you as well, didn't she? How did she conduct herself there?" Mercury asked suddenly.
((ME! ^_^))

((What's that? Us discuss about you without your knowledge? Never! ninja ))

((*giggles* neber!!!!!!! WAWR!!))
Alina blushed even more at this. "Oh Kakashi, don't, it will just embarass me more. I...I wish i coudl bond you now, but...I already did that once and...well thats why im washing dishes..." she looked at him, he was so handsom. Her yellow eyes meeting his turning ones. i wonder if he relizes that his eyes are changing. they are a muddy color now, but soon they will be the golden glowing orbs of a Wolfkin She reached up and put the tip of her finger on the tip of his nose, and pushed down, and up. She giggled, "I like the color your eyes are now, but soon, when they change they will be a beautiful color. Darker then mine or Mairyela Sedai's, since you are a guy, but just as beautiful." he smelled heavly of sweat and dirt, and a flow of emotions came to her nose, one she couldn't identify. But there was the warm smell of happiness. And content.

Sanar and Ryelle had taken the stairs at their own pace-which meant at ease-and enjoyed the sunlight which occasionally fell on them, despite the fact that it did little to warm the cold air-though they could always ignore the latter. They entered the office, and the two twins managed to keep from stiffening-particularly Sanar-at the sight of a Warder leaning against the wall just outside the door to the Amyrlin's office.

He could channel, which they knew for a fact, but times were changing, and the Reds could no longer simply Gentle every male channeler they saw. Added to that was the technicality that he was in fact, none other than Mercury's Gaidin-though they had never been comfortable with the idea of leaving a male channeler to be the one that always had to protect her, and on occasion the Amyrlin-and any harm to him would most likely not leave them within Mercury's good humor. They kept an acceptable distance between themselves and him, as they knocked on the door to the Amyrlin's Study, feeling the tingling of saidar as they did so-probably a warding.

"Bah...it's amazing how people plan visits just so we don't have time to talk...maybe we can talk later. For now, business calls. I'll have Laras send up some lunch for you, so you can eat if you get hungry later." Mercury said, before putting on the mask and undoing the warding a little so that if Clarissa shouted for someone to come in, they could hear it.

She opened the door, and blinked, at the two women standing there. She quickly closed the door to Clarissa's office behind her, and paused. "Sanar...Ryelle...what brings you here?" she asked, in a calm tone, not exactly sure she wanted to hear the answer. Too many awkward incidents of the past remained in her mind. Knowing that she'd start to flush under the mask she was holding if she thought about it too long, Mercury quickly squashed those thoughts shut, preparing to use her mind to put some distance between herself and the twins.

After making sure there were no trainees in the room, and that the door to the Keeper's Study was shut, so that no one could get in without knocking, the two of them broke into wide smiles. If their focus had been a man, they might have had a good bit of success. Ryelle went to Mercury's left, and Sanar to the right; in one swift moment, the two of them each had an arm wrapped around Mercury's waist, with the distance between each of them and the Keeper a good bit too close to be friendship-which was true; it was actually a somewhat intimate hold on their old friend.

What Sanar would have done to glimpse the face of Mercury's Warder; to her knowledge, he hadn't seen them before, or if he had, it had been a short, formal meeting some time ago. Until now-unless Mercury had said something to him about it-he likely wouldn't even have known that not only did both of them not favor men, but that they had a good bit of feelings towards Clarissa and Mercury; particularly Mercury, because you could hardly perform the Saldean fan dance for someone right after they'd been raised to Accepted and then just forget about them. "Two friends can't come and say hello to another?" Sanar asked Mercury in a silky voice.

Mercury had forgotten how...discomforting things could be around these two at times, and she also seemed to have forgotten their unusually firm grip; once they had her trapped snugly-and somewhat intimately-between them, she couldn't get out. Their smiles only worried her more, for some reason.

"That depends on whether saying hello includes memories of that...er..." She glanced over her shoulder at Hawk, before searching for a better way of putting it. "that incident from right after I was raised to Accepted." Mercury replied to Sanar. "Would you two mind letting me go...this is..." She trailed off, not able to finish the sentence. The mask had long since fallen away, and her head a whirl of emotions and thoughts, as she tried to pry herself away from the two Saldaeans.

Ryelle laughed a little at Mercury's reply; she was so silly sometimes. "Oh, our hello doesn't include that..." Her eyes flicked back between Mercury and Hawk, debating whether or not to 'accidentally' reveal to him just what that incident had been; however, she decided to let that particular torment rest a while. "We'll save talk of that for when we're alone." She continued, in an equally silken voice.

Sanar began talking just then, leaving Mercury barely a pause between their comments. "And also, why should we let you go? We are rather fond of holding you this way, safely nestled between us. After all, we've told you time and time again that you cannot, and should not, rely on most men to protect you; our attentions and focus to you would be much better protection, and far more companionable." She commented, emphasizing the last words; it was so amusing to see Mercury trapped-both physically and verbally-and yet still protesting.

(( neutral Now this is just plain cruel Islan...you want to see me suffer trying to figure out a post for the Keeper don't you? *does so* stare ))

Mercury's first reaction was to tell them not to dare, but she wasn't sure whether that was because of Ryelle's smirk as she glanced between her and Hawk, or because Sanar was once again trying to coax Mercury into spending time with the twins alone, with those blastedly subtle suggestions; it had taken her till mid way through her Accepted years to figure all of those subtleties out, but as of yet, she had no way to avoid them.

Annoyance was starting to become a good part of the mix of emotions, as proven by the look she was giving the twins; thought it wasn't showing on her face thanks to tremendous concentration, those blasted puns were also making the Keeper flush. She chose the easy way out of the first path of conversation and gave herself more time to attempt freeing herself as she replied. "Honestly, do either of you think you can do any more than Warders already do for their Aes Sedai?"
PostPosted: Fri Dec 08, 2006 11:45 pm

Ryelle got a rather interesting gleam in her eye, as she moved her head even closer to Mercury's. "Well...since you asked, I honestly think that there's many a thing we can do for and with you that you can't do with normal Warders, or most men for that matter. I also think we can spend far more time-and in many, many situations-with you than a Gaidin; and I think I speak for myself and Sanar when I say neither of us would mind those situations or responsibilities." She commented, slowly withdrawing when she finished speaking. Sanar simply nodded in agreement with her sister.

Despite her best efforts, Mercury felt the faintest tinge of pink come to her face, which of course would only delight Sanar and Ryelle. "Well then...since you don't have any official business with me, we'll have to continue this chat another time."

Thank the Light for that. Forgetting about easing out unnoticed, she jerked free of their grip, and managed to get out successfully, before turning to go to the Keeper's quarters across the hallway and take a momentary rest, to forget about the annoyances that always seemed to come with Sanar and Ryelle.

((Wow, if there was any way I could get in on that situation, I totally would; that kind of superiority complex is the type the Skiiy likes to screw with the most, and he would totally piss them off, especially using the fact that they can't use the Power to toy with him...if it was an all-out fight, he'd probably be screwed, by at least Water and Earth, but Aes Sedai sure like to do that lifting a person into the air thing to show how powerful they are, or cutting of other Power-users from the Source, etc, and those types of powers are the most ineffective.

My thesis is this; if there was any way I could get Skiiy up there right now, I would, but I can't. He's keeping an eye out for Mairyela, and he has absolutely no reason to barge into that room at the moment...so Clarissa, it's up to you to save Merc.))

((OOOH...I think that's a challenge at you and your characters Islan....*looks forward to the day that confrontation/meeting happens* ))
PostPosted: Sat Dec 09, 2006 1:30 am

((Uh..wow...only my 2nd day posting as my characters and already people want to tick them off...I guess I should accept the challenge....??))

Sanar and Ryelle went ahead and let Mercury go, since her patience-and witty repartee skills-seemed to be shrinking. Or it might have had something to do with how Mercury blushing made them very satisfied. Either way, before she could make a complete getaway, the two twins caught up with her, then passed her and turned around, each of them quickly placing a kiss on a cheek, before smirking at her, her Warder, and to each other, before leaving. They had Aes Sedai tasks to attend to before they went to see Mercury in the evening to continue the chat, as she herself had suggested.
