It wasn't even feeling much like his home anymore, what with all the traveling!

Lin laughed, "I suppose, but I feel like this any time I come back to a place I'm very familiar with. Haven and here were the two places I always traveled to growing up."
She supposed in a way this was home too, as much as Have and Gaia was.

Earendil smiled at Lin and squeezed her hand again. "Isn't it a good feeling?" he asked her. "Coming home where things are predictable ..."
He trailed off, then looked at Lin again. "Miyuki tells me something you said amused Haldir ... what happened?"

Lin shrugged, she still wasn't sure what he found amusing.
"Haldir asked about us, apparently even he noticed way back then, and of course I come into his shop with a little girl who is my daughter. I explained we were courting, he didn't laugh or anything there was just this look in his eyes."

Earendil tilted his head thoughtfully. "It's got to be something concerning Halaleel," he murmured. "Which I must admit, confuses me, that he would be amused by it, but ... I can think of nothing else it might be."
He half frowned. "Now I wish I'd been there with you."

Lin personally was glad Earendil hadn't been with her. That had been her only chance to have that feather decorated. Not that she was going to tell him that.
"Well she did leave the front quite quickly," Lin admitted, "She was looking after the counter until we came in."

Earendil chuckled softly. "Good to see the lesson she learned is still in her mind," he grinned. "Even if she hasn't changed, at least she's learned something."
His curiosity was growing now.

Lin laughed a bit, "Yea, that's true. It's just a pity she can make nice."
She imagined that the woman wasn't living a very happy life.

Earendil smiled sadly.
"It's not just about making nice, Lin," he said softly. "You know how my father was. I still don't know what changed him, but ... it wasn't about making nice. It was about his beliefs, what held him together. What he held as important. Halaleel is not much different - sure her reasons are different, but ... essentially, it comes down to the same thing. She's jealous because she's a woman, but she's disgusted because you're not elven."

"Why?" sometimes it was easy to forgot they had a child with them.
Miyuki had been listening in and she didn't get it at all.

Earendil glanced down at Miyuki and smiled at her softly.
"Some people just don't like it when two people who are different love each other," he explained. "It doesn't make any sense, but that's just how some people are. They think that they're better than others, even if it's not true."

Miyuki blinked, "That doesn't make much sense at all."
She didn't think it was possible to have a best race because that would mean you'd have to shove all the races together and that would look kind of funny.

He thought about it for a moment before deciding a word.

"They must be really confused," Miyuki replied.
Lin giggled at that, if only things were so simple. Still, she thought going about it that way was cute to say the least.

Earendil arched one eyebrow at Lin. "You think it's funny?" he asked her with a grin. "It's true, isn't it? They're confused. They don't know what's good and what isn't."
He squeezed her hand gently. "I know what's good. There's no confusion for me anymore."
