Akane went back to bed but stayed awake for quite a while. She couldn’t see a clock from where she was lying down, but she doubted she would have looked at it if it was – she was far too busy trying to fathom what the dream/nightmare could possibly mean. Her last thought before sleep overcame her was a happy one. That she had found a good friend because of what had happened. The sleep that came, however, was restless and tinged with feelings much like those she experienced earlier that night despite not being able to remember what happened. Finally, much later, a good solid sleep came as the sun was rising.

Again Cathy let the sleep-troubled girl that had wandered onto her doorstep sleep in. She had woken just a little after she normally would at seven o’clock and went about her normal routine, well as normal as she could without waking the poor girl, and decided that she needed to tend her vegetable garden. There seemed to always be weeding and planting and picking to do, but the work paid off when she had less to carry back to her cabin each week, and any excess she picked she would preserve in jars for the winter months. Frozen food was easy to cook and easy to store but didn’t always provide the best nutrition and usually weighed a lot. The soil here was great and the small vegetable garden usually made enough to stretch her city purchases far enough, not that she was hurting for money – her paintings sold well enough through the store in Pewter City she had a deal with, she even got enough commissions through that exposure that she was starting to get a name for herself in the art scene. Plus living in such a remote cottage and the fact she used solar panels for her power really cut back on her living expenses. Remmy and Marcel were out in the forest together picking a basket of whatever berries they could find and should be back pretty soon, though Cathy couldn’t wait for the fruit trees she planted shortly after moving here to grow big enough to bear fruit. To have fresh apples, peaches and pears available like that would be awesome. Eventually she would like to be able to travel the world a little, to Resort Gorgeous just off Five Island and maybe even all the way to Castelia City to see Burgh and the art gallery he has there at his gym to name a few places. But that was a dream for later, she still felt very connected to and inspired by Viridian Forest and Mount Moon. Right now she needed to get her crop back in and check on Akane – she really was worried about the girl just like she was a big sister.

Akane woke again at around ten o’clock but this time she seemed to have slept better. Cathy was in the kitchen washing a whole lot of vegetables in her sink and putting them on a towel ready to be dried off. Twinkers seemed to have woken some time earlier and was playing quietly with a ball right by the couch. The smile Akane got from the little Clefairy warmed her heart and brought a smile to her own lips. By the time the young blonde girl had finished in the bathroom and had got dressed Cathy was just putting the last of the clean and dry vegetables into the fridge.
“Breakfast? Coffee?” asked Cathy as she stood up knuckling her lower back.
“No coffee today thanks, I slept much better after our talk, but breakfast sounds great.”
“There’s bread and butter by the toaster and jam in the fridge. Peanut butter is in the pantry if you want that instead. Should still be some juice in the fridge too” Cathy said as she walked over to the couch. “I just need a sit down for a while.” The young painter flumped down on the couch and relaxed.
Akane made her own breakfast easily. With her own parents being so busy with their research all the time she had been forced into doing things for herself a lot. She wondered if they even noticed that she had left yet. Were they worried about her? Were they happy they didn’t have to worry about her now that she was gone? Have they tried to find her yet?
Cathy turning on the radio with the nearby remote disrupted Akane’s musings and brought her back to the present. “Oh yeah, there is one thing you can do to have a good sleep all the time, it’s kinda tricky but one of Cresselia’s feathers makes you have good dreams. At least that’s the folklore on it. Finding a feather around here is next to impossible though seeing as Cresselia lives out in the Sinnoh region and is rarely seen even over there.” Cathy sat up and had a big swig from her water bottle. “It’s something to keep in mind though. Erg, I need a shower – after that we can get back to painting, okay?”
Akane nodded assent as she took another bite of her strawberry jam toast. It wasn’t long at all after Cathy started her shower than Remmy and Marcel returned with the Mime Pokemon carrying a basket of mixed berries. He placed the basket on the island counter with a cheery “Mime” for Akane. Akane could see the berries were mostly Pecha and Oran berries, but she also saw a few apples in the mix too. After she finished her last mouth full of toast she pointed at one of the apples with a questioning look, the Mr. Mime smiling and nodding “Mime!” in response. Akane went and helped herself to an apple and gave Twinkers an Oran berry to eat as an after thought.

About the only thing that was louder than the buzzing of the encroaching Beedrill was the pounding of Hayley's heart, and she snuggled the Nidoran closer to her, squeezing her eyes shut as she waited for the inevitable. It was then that she felt a rush of wind whiz just by her ear, and she opened her eyes again to see a forceful jet of water slam into the nearest Beedrill while a pair of olive-green tendrils went after another. This was followed up by a sharp Gust that careened into the Beedrill that had suffered the Vine Whip and it fell to the ground, twitching. The sudden attacks seemed to give the swarm pause and Hayley took the opportunity to scramble to her feet and get away. A big smile appeared on her face when she realized Connor and Lucy had come to her rescue, their Pokemon's attacks hitting their mark just in the nick of time. "You guys... thanks," she said, bowing her head slightly.

Lucy grinned, her eyes still fixed on the swarm. "Like we were gonna just leave you there," she said. "Bulbasaur, give 'em a Sleep Powder! Pidgey, spread it around them with your Gust!" The Seed Pokemon lowered the front half of its body and released a cloud of glittering powder from its bulb. The spores wouldn't have traveled very far on their own if it hadn't been for the nice combination of Pidgey's Gust, which carried the powder into the swarm of bees and downed at least five of them while making others quite drowsy.

"I may be kind of a jerk, but even I wouldn't leave someone to a swarm of angry Beedrill," Connor added, thrusting his hand forward. "Squirtle, rapid-fire Water Gun, do it!" The Tinyturtle Pokemon did just that, shooting out several quick bursts of water to keep any advancing Beedrill at bay. "Though, please feel free to help. Three against... dozens isn't exactly fair," he added.

Hayley nodded, noticing that Mya was at her side again, as well. The Rattata and Nidoran wouldn't be very useful for distance attacks, so Hayley had to resort to using her ace. "All right, Cynder! Let's do this!" she called as she tossed out the Charmander's Pokeball. "Let's scare off these Beedrill; use your Ember!"

The Charmander in question gave a yawn, but he quickly snapped to attention when he saw the swarm of Beedrill. He quickly took note of his allies before he gazed at the enemies again. Some of them had been knocked out already, others were looking weak. But more importantly, they were on the attack! He reared back and loosed a small, yet effective burst of flames directly into the face of the Beedrill that was coming at him. The thing screeched as its body was scorched, but it still thrust its stingers forward, carrying three consecutive, machine gun-like blasts into the Charmander's stomach.

The walk back to the Goldenrod City Pokemon Center seemed to go by faster than Miharu could ever remember; but that was probably due to the fact that she had a good-looking boy on her arm. There was that, and the fact that he'd started asking questions about her, like her hometown and whatnot, and the chatter between them made the walk go by that much quicker. Leroy was very easy to talk to and was a good listener. She found out that he was from Violet City, and that his first Pokemon had been a Spinarak. He also spoke of how he traveled to Hoenn almost right away upon starting his journey, and he showed off the three badges he'd won there. He only had the first two from Johto so far, but Miharu was certain he'd get past the next two gyms for sure, at the very least.

They were talking about their other interests now, one of Leroy's being cooking, and when Miharu spoke of her prize-winning painting, he quickly realized that he had seen it before. "You know, I've seen your painting, now that you mention it," Lee said as they approached the red-roofed building. "They've got it up at the Cherrygrove City art gallery now, right?"

"Yes," Miharu said, blushing a bit. "The head curator really liked it, as Scyther is his favourite Pokemon. I was happy to give it to him for his collection."

"You must have made some nice coin off that," the young Rocket stated, allowing Miharu to enter the Center first.

Both trainers took a tray for their Pokeballs and got in line, though Miharu didn't see the envious glint in Lee's eyes as she gently placed each of her Pokeballs in a slot. "Money?" she repeated, shaking her head. "No, I didn't take any money for it. I gave it to him, as a gift. After all, he was the one that judged the contest and provided the prizes."

"Ahh, I see," Lee said, scratching his chin. "What did you win, if you don't mind me asking?"

"A Pokemon egg," she said quickly, as the memory was a bittersweet one. "It was more like a round lump of metal than an egg though, but it did eventually hatch into a Beldum."

"A Beldum? No kidding," Lee breathed, his eyes wide. "Those are rare, even in Hoenn. You don't seem to have it with you now, though," he added, wondering what had become of his mark's seemingly rarest Pokemon.

"Oh, well it's currently staying with my aunt and uncle," Miharu answered, blissfully unaware of all the important information she was giving the Rocket. "They run a breeding center in Lavaridge Town, so they take care of my Pokemon when they're not with me."

"No better place for Pokemon to stay," Lee remarked, thinking of his visit to Lavaridge. The big-haired gym leader had beaten him quite handily, and the thought of it still angered him. He did know of the breeding center she spoke of, though he'd found their prices to be a bit too steep for his liking and they didn't even breed Magby there. "That's gotta be tough though, raising a Beldum. They only know like, one move, right?"

"They can only use Take Down, and that's it, so no, it wasn't easy," Miharu answered, now handing her Pokemon off to the nurse for treatment, "but it was worth it. Tingle's a Metang now, and it's a bit of a strange Pokemon, but tough nevertheless." One thing Miharu noticed was that she no longer had to stand on tiptoe to peer far enough across the counter to see the healing machine, and she blinked a few times. She must have grown at least a few inches in the past while, and even her sandals were starting to feel a bit tight now. I guess I'm not cursed to be a midget forever, she thought, hoping she would get at least tall enough so that her cousin and his stupid friends wouldn't pick on her anymore. Of course, by stupid friends she meant Flannery and Mike, as both had taken their fair share of height-related jokes at her.

It was Leroy's turn to be oblivious, as he wouldn't have guessed Miharu to have height-issues, and he was too busy imagining the fearsome Metagross he could someday be commanding. Once Miharu had gotten her Pokemon back Lee turned his in for treatment, having to wait only a few moments before his team was returned to them. He watched the girl as she returned her Pokemon to the proper slots on her belt, and he smirked. She was so trusting, so naive. He couldn't remember a time when he'd found a trainer that would be this easy to dupe. "So how about that dinner?" he asked, once again linking his arm with Miharu's. "I know a place."

“I see that you are well rested, trainer,” Nurse Joy said to Riley as he walked down the stairs.

“Yes, Ms. Joy.” Riley made his way to the front desk. The center was noticeably busier than it was last night. He felt odd being addressed simply as trainer, so he told the nurse his name as he handed in his key.

“Well, Riley, are you planning on going to the Battle Institute?” Nurse Joy asked, bending slightly down to put up the key. Seeing his confused expression, she quickly went on. “The Battle Institute, you see, is a place a lot of trainers go to train against one another in what are called Battle Test. There are a few rules for those who participate, and the people who run it give the trainers a score and ranking based on how well they do in the battles.”

“Hmm…” Riley pondered on the idea for awhile, imaging the training he could squeeze in from there. “I think… I’ll pass. The place is probably full of experienced trainers and I’m only just starting.” He chuckled. “I will be coming back here once I get my Pokédex, eventually. Maybe I can show my skills then.” Riley gave a quick smile and flashed a thumbs up.

“Gothita!” Lizith raised one of her nubs of an arm above her head and smiled in response.

Nurse Joy chuckled. “You two seem enthusiastic enough. I’m sure you’ll do fine.”

He began waving good bye to nurse before stopping suddenly. “Umm… could I ask you a question?” Riley said, the slightest hint of red coming to his cheeks. ‘I don’t believe I have to ask this.’ “Do you know the easiest way to get to Route 4 from here?”

“Oh. When you leave from here, take a left and walk straight until you find yourself in front of the Gear Station. Then you should make a right and head along the main road till you see one of the three Nimbasa Gates that lead out to the route.” The embarrassment Riley felt became even more obvious as his cheeks reddened even more. He could only manage a polite nod in response. “Now, we here at the Pokémon Center hope to see you again, Riley!”

With a weak wave, Riley said his own farewell before leaving the center, taking a small detour to the cafeteria to grab some food for himself and Lizith for now and the road.

Kimiko stared entranced by the creepy bellsprout, ".........what the f*ck...." she softly said staring blankly at it wiggling about. Kadaj was mimicking the look while giving a long wine. Kimiko shook her head, her crimson curls shaking around her face. "uuhhhhh...-Kadaj! Tail whip"
Kadaj was starting to cower back while the bellsprout grew larger. "Kadaj! Now!" Kimiko yelled in a scolding tone, Kadaj snapped out of his funk and wildly shook his tail. "Dear lord I hope this end well..."

The bonsly gave a shake of it's limbs and gave a small cry. "thats right! These girls look ridiculous." the trainer said in a mocking tone. "Hey air head!" She yelled at Robin, "how about you pay attention while I'm kicking your a**!" She spoke before really looking at the odds, "Bonsley! Tackle!"
The small pokemon hurled it's body at Robin's slow poke smacking against it with a small thud. The little pokemon then bounced back onto the ground.
"Take that!"

Levi was staring down that small caterpie that had given him all that trouble not to long ago. Orchid was all fired up and also wanted revenge on the small pokemon. The caterpie jumped down for the branch and landed straight across from the companions. It seemed just s willing to fight as they were."Alright Orchid use sweet sent" He said well Orchid moved her head back and forth releasing a sweet smelling aroma. The caterpie seemed distracted by the sweet smell and didn't see Orchid running at it slamming into its side. The small bug pokemon tumbled on the ground. When it pulled itself together it seemed angry as ever. The pokemon shot up string that in-cased Orchid. Unable to move the caterpie charged her and landed a tackle. The bug pokemon hit her so hard it dislodged her from the stick substance and sent her flying. Orchid slowly pulled herself up but was seemingly okay. "Are you alright" Levi said well rushing over to his partner. The small weed pokemon made a loud trill singling it was still ready to go. "Okay lets try adsorb" He yelled as the caterpie charged Orchid again. Orchild dodged the attack by jumping up and over the small bug. What the caterpie didn't notice is that Orchid was standing in front of a tree. The caterpie smacked right into it causing the small pokemon to be confused. Well it was still in a daze Orchid started to drain it's heath. The caterpie stumbled around trying to make an escape. "No you don't" Levi said well throwing a vacant pokeball at the pokemon. It bounced of the caterpie and sucked it inside. The ball wiggled around on the ground a bit before singling the capture. "We did it!" Levi yelled as he caught his first pokemon. Orchid also jumped in celebration.

Ryka closed her eyes as she listened to Kasiya's voice. It was gentle and calming, and the words soothed her heart. It was the very comfort that she craved, and it brought a small smile to her face. The talk of the contest, however, was very unexpected - not the reason she had called at all. But the smile stayed on Ryka's face as she spoke in response, somewhat grateful that the sore topic of her call hadn't been brought up.

"Why, yes..we were in the contest. I'm so glad you watched it." Ryka gave her sleeping Pikachu a pat on the head. "Allegra and Blitz did do amazing, didn't they? Allegra was particularly great at her performance. Crenu was a wonderful opponent, as well." She added the last part, not wanting to make Kasiya any more upset than she must've already been after hearing that message that Ryka left the night before. "We...well, we haven't been training, per say. I met one of the judges yesterday - Fantina - and she convinced me to try...I'm so happy we did. I hope that we will enter another soon."

Ryka rubbed her eyes. They were a little sore, and no doubt puffy from last night. She stretched out her legs in front of her, precariously balancing the Pokenav in between her ear and shoulder. What to say next? Bluntly bringing up the topic at hand would undoubtedly make the both of them cry, and Ryka already felt bad enough for using Kasiya as a crutch. She stayed silent for a moment as she thought of what she hadn't before - how Kasiya felt. Kas and Jaeshan had a history, too, and they were very close friends. How bad she must've felt when she found out that he was missing... How could Ryka be so clueless and oblivious as to others' feelings? Ryka wasn't the only one hurting right now. She grit her teeth as she attempted to hold back more tears that were forming, letting a quiet sentence escape: "I miss you, Kas."

Robin who had been just... disturbed by the Bellsprout didn't pay attention to her half of the battle until she was getting yelled at. "Huh? Airhead?" What? Her head wasn't full of air! She was pretty sure her lungs were in her chest, all though she could be wrong about that. "Tackle?" Robin watched with vaguely confused eyes as the small tree pokemon went and slammed itself into her Slowpoke. Tackle? What was a grass pokemon like that using a normal move against her water type. Wasn't this supposed to be a grass gym? That was what Tony Tony had said wasn't it? Maybe she had heard wrong! Maybe instead of a grass gym, it was an a** gym! A frown appeared on Robin's face as the thought crossed her mind. Would they compare who had the best a**? How did this work? Why were they in a pokemon battle if it was an a** gym then? No! She must have heard right! It was a grass gym! They were just trying to play mind games with her! Tony Tony warned her that grass types were tricky like that! Well she wasn't going to fall for it this time!

"I am not going to fall for your tricks! Slowpoke use Water Pulse!" Ha! That would show them! It was her Slowpokes most powerful attack right now! Even if it was a grass type it would still feel the hit! Plus it had a side effect of maybe confusing the enemy! She might not know a lot about other peoples pokemon but she did know hers inside and out!

Slowpoke meanwhile just looked down at the small little tree thing it was battling. There was something wrong with this. He was sure, this little grass type was something extra and he wasn't quite sure what. He had hardly felt the Tackle at all when it's hard little body crashed into him. It was like small rock had hit him. Well no matter, he was supposed to use Water Pulse now. Well at least he thought he had to. He was pretty sure he had to. Slowly his mouth filled with water as and he let out a blast of perfectly round psychically controlled water towards the Bonsly.

On the other side of the battlefield the other tree girl was laughing at Kadaj and Kimiko. "Your just going to wag your tail at us? Well that isn't going to help you any! Bellsprout let us show them your Wrap attack!"

The creepy looking Bellsprout seemingly acknolleged it's trainer as it started to wreath it's way across the field in what was an amazingly obscene way. It was amazing simply because it's body was so small and hardly had any features but it somehow made you feel dirty just watching it. As it got closer two long vines, tentacles?, sprung from it and rushed towards Kadaj.

After being pushed into the dressing room Dante dropped all the clothes on a bench and looked down at them. When had they wondered into a costume shop? He wasn't quite sure what to make of all of these. Were they testing him or being serious? Well, whatever the case was he was going to show them. A small smirk appeared on his face as he reached down and picked up one of the most absurd ones. He was used to wearing strange clothing anyway thanks to his mom. If they thought they were going to get a laugh or if Leo wanted to complain to Angelic that he wasn't cooperative then they were going to get a shock.

A quick strip of his own clothing and a small bit of figuring out how to put this one on and he stepped out of the dressing room a neutral look schooled onto his face. You would never guess that he had on the brightest and gaudiest clown outfit that had possibly ever been made. "I didn't know this was what was in." He said grateful he was able to keep his voice deadpanned and the smirk from showing on his face, because the look that Leo and the store clerk were wearing was priceless.

It took them a moment to gather their wits as Dante stood in front of them. Truth be told Leo had been looking for a bit of a laugh at the others complaining. He was sure the stoic boy with a superior attitude problem would never wear these things. Well, it seemed like he had been wrong in that. It took him a moment but he did gain a slight bit of respect for him. "Oh no that will never do. Go back in and change. I don't know what I was thinking."

At that Dante did smirk a little and headed back into the dressing room. Looking down at the costumes he grinned a little. He could see the actual choices that they wanted him to put on, and then there were the costume outfits that were meant as a joke to torment him with. Well, might as well get the costumes out of the way first now? Putting the nice clothes aside he settled his egg onto them in a nice little nest and went about picking his next outfit.

Levi held up the pokeball that contained his new friend. He thought to himself of what he should name her. He release the caterpie from it's ball. The small pokemon looked up at him and blinked. Levi took out his pokedex and let it read the information about caterpie. After listing to the explanation he got an idea for her name. "Honey-Suckle" He said well looking down at her. Honey make a loud noise and bounced around happily. "Well I guess you like that" He said well laughing. He returned both of his pokemon to there balls and continued walking threw the forest. After returning to Pewter City, Levi decided to take a break. He walked into the pokecenter and gave his pokemon to nurse Joy for some much need rest. After he and his companies were rested Levi got his bike back and they headed back home. Levi wasn't to sure what to do at this point. He didn't seem ready to take on any gyms and he was still wasn't use to being away from home. So for now he decided to return home and check in on his dad.

And there they were. Alive, Alex thought. The older trainer had just peeled himself off the wall he’d leaped into, and now he was spinning around with his fire lizard in hand. Blues was sitting on the ground in front of her, and from what her admittedly weaker mental faculties told her, he was yawning. Finally, there was Roll, clapping her hands and giggling cheerfully in the advent of the group’s narrow escape from vicious poisoning and mauling by giant bees.

Alexis herself simply stood in place, wide eyed and terrified, her hand clutching at her heart. The pulse underneath calmed her. The fact that she knew her heart was still beating was probably the only reason she wasn’t having a panic attack. That forest was so peaceful before the Ginger Giant arrived with the swarm of mad bees, and now there was simply no way any sane person would be going back through for a while. She was stuck here, and it was his fault.

She turned to face him, trying to put on the angriest face she could muster. Unfortunately, the adrenaline coursing through her body coupled with her inability to ever scare anything rendered her face into something pouty and terrified. But she was going to get to the bottom of this, no matter what happened. After all, she was Alexis Albright, the future best friend of the most powerful pokemon to ever soar through the heavens! She opened her mouth to ask what in the heck caused those beedrill to attack, but she only got out “Wha-” before she was literally lifted out of her comfort zone and twirled about like a Clefairy doll with flailing limb action. That heroic question of hers was caught in her throat, replaced by a most certainly not menacing squeak.

When the boy finally put her down, Alex backstepped half a dozen paces, all anger forgotten. She stared at her feet, turning a bright red as she muttered “you’re welcome” and her Larvatar ran excited circles around the Charmander, examining its super cool flaming tail.

Kressen smiled at the small girl as he swayed a bit on his feet, dizzy from spinning around to much. "Really thank you, we probably would've died back there if it wasn't for you and your abra." He'd ruffled the blushing girl's head as a sign of affection and thanks. "You must be quite the trainer to handle your Pokemon so well."

It made him feel a bit embarrassed that such a young trainer had to save him and his partner on the first day of his journey Still, his feelings of embarrassment were pushed aside by his joy about being alive. "Is there anything to do to repay you? This is my home town so I can show you around to the best places to eat if you like and buy you a meal." He looked over to see Gigas trying to chase Roll to initaite a game of tag.

The little fire monster seemed to have forgotten all about the near death experience already. Before it could start running amok again Kressen took three large thunderous step towards his partner and scooped him up. He gave the little fire monster a glare, that wiped its' happy expression from its' face. "What are you celebrating for you little pyro? Because of you lack of attention to your tail, and my lack of attention to you we nearly got ourselves and others killed."

Gigas looked over at the girl and her Pokemon and squeaked out a pathetic "Charrr." It opened its eyes really wide and little fire monster tears, would begin to leak from its' eyes. "No don't cry just apologize to them." He set his partner down and the two of them bowed in apology to the young girl. This was a bad idea on Kressens' part since he was already woozy from hitting his head, coming down from an adrenaline rush, and had a large hiking back pack strapped to his back. He'd fall face first into the dirt, only able to mutter an "Ughh". Gigas would flail around comically before attempting to shake his trainer back to health.

Riza raised an eyebrow as Crenu shrugged off the memory lapse and headed to the adjacent training area where he proceeded to release five of his Pokemon. The dark haired girl felt a pang of guilt when she realized that Poliwhirl was missing but it passed when she saw the way Ariados looked at her. Riza glared at the spider Pokemon, recalling how jealous she could be at times and she smirked, knowing that Ariados would have a hissy fit if she knew just how close Riza had gotten with her trainer last night. Akima had been looking out for the idiotic blue tadpole as well, but when she saw that he was absent she relaxed, though she'd never forgive that foul water creature for trying to attack her trainer. If he ever tried that again, she'd break every bone in his body, not just his hand. She did notice Crenu's Pupitar staring at her. The Weavile didn't growl or glare, just stared right back at the Hard Shell Pokemon, wondering what was going on in his mind. The sudden strange mix of emotions made Yula stagger a bit, and it took the Gardevoir a few moments to attune herself to them all. Diemia paid no attention to the new Pokemon on the scene while Eris and Faustus remained hidden under the bench, now chattering quietly to one another. Riza considered letting her Fearow out of her Pokeball again but decided against it, knowing that Plua would be seeking revenge on Akima and the last thing she needed was a brawl between her own Pokemon.

Riza took out her Pokedex and looked through it, deciding that Akima didn't really need any training at the moment. The Weavile's performances yesterday were enough proof of that, but they'd have to work on some new combinations and routines in order to fully capitalize on the Weavile's new strength and speed. Yula had done well too, seeing as how her performance in the appeals round had gotten them tied for first place overall, and Riza smiled, knowing which of her Pokemon she was going to work with today. Seeing that Akima was still glaring silently at Crenu, Riza recalled her, hoping the Weavile would take the opportunity to rest up. That left Diemia, Yula, Eris and Faustus, and even though Riza wanted to work with Plua, she knew she'd be better off taking the fearow out and finding random trainers to battle. "Well, that's set, then," the dark haired girl thought. "Eris and Diemia, you two will train together. Yula, you're with Faustus."

Eris gave a little whine when she realized that Riza was separating her from Faustus, and she apprehensively crawled out of her hiding place and plopped down near the Crawdaunt. Diemia opened one eye and studied the tiny Quilava, and scoffed. Yula, meanwhile, had successfully coaxed Faustus out of hiding and now the two were enjoying the warm sunshine. Riza smiled to herself. It was time to get to work.

'Okay, this guy's Machop is tougher than I thought,' Katie thought to herself with a small frown. Admittedly she was quite tired and wanted nothing more than to go to bed, but her pride as a trainer (and as a newly established member of Team Rocket) wouldn't let her, and she was determined to show this mook just who he was dealing with. 'I know that thing could have Guts for its ability, but that's a chance we'll have to take.' Katie grit her teeth and made a fist. Kord's Cross Chop was easily his strongest attack and she needed to make use of it. "Okay Kord, use your Cross Chop again!" she called. The Elekid once again sprang into action, static rippling across his small frame.

The opposing Rocket smirked, lowering his head as the Elekid rushed at his Machop. "Your Elekid is remarkably fast," he commented, waving a finger. "How about we knock it down a peg or two? Machop, fight back with your Low Sweep."

Katie scoffed at this, the dumb Rocket didn't even know the proper names of his Pokemon's attacks! It was Low Kick, not Low Sweep! The Machop didn't seem confused though as it crouched low to the ground, eying the Elekid as he closed the distance. "Bii!" the small electric-type called as he lunged forward, striking out with his hand. Before Kord's Cross Chop could come close to making contact, however, the Machop dropped down, supporting its weight with its hands and it swung out its left foot, catching both of Kord's feet and sweeping them out from under him all in one fluid, graceful motion. The Elekid cried out painfully as he hit the ground with a thud, a dull ache now throbbing through both his legs. The new found pain he felt would definitely hamper his speed and he grit his teeth and glared at the Machop. He'd pay for that!

Kasiya closed her eyes and tried to remember more about the contest last night. The name Fantina was familiar, and she thought that perhaps she had been that fancy lady in the purple dress, but she couldn't be sure. She smiled at the memory of Allegra's performance. I don't think I've ever seen her look so happy, she thought, and she took Twilight's Pokeball from her belt and looked at it. Twilight's doing well too, so I guess that trade was best for both Pokemon. She nodded as Ryka mentioned wanting to enter another contest soon, not realizing her friend couldn't see her nodding through the phone. Kasiya wanted to enter a contest, too, but she didn't really know the first thing about how to do that. There was silence on the line between them now, but it didn't really bother Kasiya all that much. Just knowing Ryka was there made her feel better, even if it was just for a little while, and she knew that it would take a lot of time for the pain to start to fade. Ryka's quiet little sentence made her smile, and she choked back tears of her own. "I miss you too, Ryka. It's only been a few days but it feels like a lot longer."

Again she was very hesitant to bring up the subject, and she suspected Ryka felt the same way. In all honesty she didn't think there was too much to talk about - they'd lost a mutual, close friend and they were both hurting and they already knew that, so why probe an already achy wound? Kasiya's thoughts drifted back to the time the three of them had stumbled across that relic in the cavern. If it hadn't been for Jaeshan's Weepinbell, they never would have gotten out of that unscathed. She recalled the few times she'd battled Jaeshan as well and tears crept into the corners of her eyes. Keegan had always been right about that; she had held back and she couldn't help but wonder if Jaeshan had known about it the whole time and was just too nice to say anything.

She'd been clutching Twilight's Pokeball so hard that it clicked open, and the Umbreon appeared beside her. Seeing his new trainer looking distraught made his ears droop and he crawled into her lap. Kasiya smiled and wrapped her free arm around him, enjoying the Pokemon's warmth and velvety soft fur. "He was so nice," she said finally, closing her eyes, surprised to find that her tears had stopped. "I've never known anyone as nice, and kind as him. It... it's stupid. And unfair. Why do these things happen to the good people? Why cant a plane fall out of the sky and crush Giovanni or Mai? I don't understand."
=-=-=-=-=

Mai had since retired to her own room, one of the lavish corner suites on the upper floors. She'd showered and done her nails and now she was laying on her bed, enjoying a few fine imported chocolates and watching Katie's battle through a closed-circuit camera. She'd set it up so that she'd know exactly when Katie turned in the forms, and now she was watching the fight unfold with a small smirk on her face. She'd been the one to send that grunt to find and challenge her, as she wanted to see how the small girl reacted. Any fear that Katie had felt seemed to subside pretty quickly and it didn't take her long to take up the offensive. She reminds me of me, the admin thought with a chuckle, watching as the Elekid's legs were taken out from under him. She had no doubt that Katie could win, but she was more interested in how the girl would win, and it was good to see how Katie battled on her own, without Mai being there.

She was a smart girl, which was a given since she'd graduated the Jubilife Pokemon Trainer's Academy at the top of her class. Mai had done a quick background check on the orange-haired trainer, and was quite surprised to find that the girl's hometown was here in Jubilife, and she had a very famous mother, to boot. She had thought that Katie was a little older than she actually was, as well, but that was irrelevant. Katie Maguire was a talented young lady, and Mai was already glad that she'd recruited her.
