Sunlight was streaming through the window. That fact and the bright light confused Lizzie at first. The last thing she remembered, she was in a downpour, fighting the Rockets in the air. And then a loud noise...
Sitting up in bed (wow, she was in the first bed since ages ago it seemed like), her head suddenly exploded with pain and she had to lie back down into her pillow.
Barely awake, she didn't notice a nurse enter the room until she started speaking to her.
"You probably don't remember any of this." The nurse said. "But you were in the fight against the Rockets over the nearby forest, yes? You were hit by a missile, and you and your Pokemon were very lucky that shrapnel didn't hit anywhere vital. But you fell off your Lugia... you had a serious concussion... but again, you were lucky that you weren't hurt any worse from the fall. Your Lugia saved you from certain death."
Psywater? Lizzie remembered him shrieking after the loud noise, and the queer sensation of free-fall...
"He shielded your body for the rest of the battle. He had some wounds from Aura Spheres and other such things but nothing that we couldn't fix. After the battle, he took you here. He was very persistant, he wouldn't leave your side even when we had to take you into a room too small for him. We had to recall him back into his Pokeball..."
That sounded a lot like him, yup.
"Anyway, you're healing at a steady pace. So long as you don't exert yourself, you should be back to normal within a week, and completely healed after a couple weeks. If you want to go outside and see your Pokemon..."
The nurse left after no response from Lizzie. She dozed for a couple more seconds and then went outside.
--- And this is the part that is @anyone:
She must look strange to other people. Bandages wrapped around her head indicated what happened to her, and she felt naked without her hat.
And of course there was the Lugia next to her, but she was sure he wasn't such a big deal after everything else that happened.
"Psywater." Lizzie said softly, glancing him over. The nurses and healers did a good job patching him up. She could barely see the burn marks that flawed his otherwise silver plumage, and the only cut that remained visible was one on his shoulder, where the first missile had struck.
"Thank you..." She leaned into him and dozed off for several more minutes. Psywater remained perfectly still and chirped something that sounded like 'you're welcome'.

@Bouncy: Zinnia was still wandering around, even though every human or pokemon that she saw bandaged up was like another slap in her face. But her guilt had eased immensely after Ezekiel had forgiven her for what she had done, and her resolve to start a different life had cheered her. She really had no reason to hang around, except for the fact that everyone else was still there. Besides, maybe something else exciting would happen.... Well, hopefully not. This adventure had been way too exciting already... Zinnia paused when she spotted a heavily bandaged person with a lugia. Her stomach squirmed, but she reminded herself that that was not her fault. She had done nothing more than kidnap one person and throw a dead grumpig (she was glad to have discovered that someone had created a grave for it, and that the grave site had survived the lucario's attack). She wandered over to Lizzie, hands in her pockets and a slight smile on her slightly scratched-up face. Zinnia and Zyk had been lucky to escape with nothing more than a few cuts and bruises... As far as physical injuries went. "Hey," Zinnia greeted the lugia. His trainer didn't look quite up to a conversation. But the legendary was an impressive sight.

@Trira Anise looked at Jenn and gave a weak smile, before looking back at Felix. He was sleeping at the moment, so she didn't want to disturb him by petting him. Where to start? The battle?
"I...never wanted to fight, I hate seeing pokemon hurt. That's why I became a healer, so I could help pokemon instead of..." She paused. Maybe it would be better to start at the very beginning.
"When I was a kid, I loved battles. They seemed so exciting, and I wanted to be a trainer too when I grew up. Of course anything sounds exciting the way TV shows it. I had a friend with a pet Growlithe who would battle with classmates, and I'd always go to watch her. I thought she was the best battler ever, but we were just little kids and a puppy playing with other little kids.
"So one day she beat someone with a Rattata who got really upset and challenged her to a rematch. He called her out to a remote corner of a park later, and of course I went too. But..." her eyes had started to water again as the memory sprung fresh into her mind. "But the jerk had brought some bully buddies with him, who grabbed us as soon as her Growlithe was out of his pokeball. They held us back and made us watch while they sicced their pack of Houndours and Poochyenas on her Growlithe. And...when they finally stopped..."
Tears were streaming down Anise's face now. Halcyon cooed at her and tried to wipe away her tears with her wings. Anise dug a spare square of gauze out of a pocket to wipe her eyes, which was only slightly more effective. "...And they just walked away laughing," she struggled to continue. "There was nothing we could do for him...we left so helpless. So I never wanted to battle again, see a pokemon hurt that bad and be able to do nothing...But when Felix..." She couldn't hold it back anymore; she just started sobbing, heedless of Halcyon's chirped concern, or that fact that Felix had woken and was meowing reassurances at her.

Lizzie didn't hear the girl come up to her, she continued to slumber on. Psywater decided to take this upon himself to not give his trainer any more grief.
He craned his neck towards Zinnia and gave a friendly snuff, while still remaining motionless so Lizzie wouldn't fall off of him.

Zinnia nodded towards the sleeping girl and commented, "She looks like she's gone through a lot. She's lucky to have you." She gave a small sigh, looking away before returning her gaze to Psywater. "Just like I'm lucky to have my own pokemon. Where would we be without you guys?" Zyk, perched on her shoulder as usual, chirruped his agreement. He was sure that Zinnia would fall apart or something if he weren't there to protect her. How had the human ever survived until he had met her? ... Even if it was Zyk's life that had been saved, not hers, upon that first meeting...

@mewrose
Jenn sat and listened as Anise began to explain what the problem had been, and then as she backtracked into her past. Jenn nodded at each part, listening as the story unraveled and pulled the young Healer along with it. She continued with her reasons for not wanting to fight, and each part seemed to bring more tears to the other girl's eyes, until she was finally sobbing.
Jenn wondered if they'd killed the Growlithe, glaring into the distance as she pictured the scene. Well, probably not, but it was people like that that made the would-be trainer want to get pokemon, so that if she ever saw something like that, she'd be able to stop it. "That's horrible. Did anything every happen to the kids?" she asked, not really expecting an answer at this point. She shook her head, looking like she would have taken on those kids at this exact moment, even with her injury and one pokemon that wasn't even hers.
"It would explain why you turned to the healing side of the pokemon world. Well, if you ever point out those people to me, I'll punch them for you." Jenn murmured, scooting over to the girl and giving her a little pat on the back as Anise began sobbing. She scooped her survival pack up from where it was around her side and managed to open it with her one hand, and fished out some tissues. (Never come unprepared!) She handed them to the girl, and pushed all of her loose black hair to her right shoulder to clear her left off, in case Anise really did need a shoulder to cry on.

Psywater nodded, agreeing with Zinnia. Besides the fact that he saved Lizzie's life last night, he felt that he was keeping her in touch with her emotional side. He had seen how she's like sometimes, focused with numbers and stats, that sometimes it seems like she had forgotten that she was dealing with living beings.
Now turning to examine Zyk, his body shifted a couple inches and woke Lizzie up. "Whoooooa." It felt like she fell several feet, even though her head barely moved at all. The nurse wasn't kidding when she said that it'll take a week to recover. Or more.
"Um, hi." She didn't notice the other person until now. Smiling weakly, she waved a hello.

@Trira Anise managed a muffled 'thanks' as she took the tissues, and made liberal use of them. She cried for a couple minutes, and one point half-leaning/half-slumping against the offered shoulder. By the time the tears had eased up, the tissues were a mushy useless blob.
"We...knew who the one kid was so...they caught him, and eventually the others," she answered between hiccups and sniffles. "But..the Growlithe could never fight again...He was pretty much stuck at home." She tried to blow her nose again, but didn't have much luck with the sodden tissues.
"So that's why I only practiced stuff like Sing and Heal Bell with Felix. Halcyon's new and Sola's a rental, so they weren't any better at battling, and I didn't really know what to tell them anyway. So we didn't help much, and only got hurt...And to make it worse!" She started tearing up anew now. "When Felix was hurt, just looking at him break down, and I couldn't even see straight to help him! Someone else had to tend to him! Even though I knew how, and he was right in front of me, I couldn't even..." She buried her face in the soggy tissues in an effort to not start bawling again.

"Oh, hello, I didn't mean to bother you," Zinnia said as the other girl woke up. "I was just talking with your lugia here. He's gorgeous," she complimented. "My name is Zin, and this is Zyk. I'm afraid that I didn't quite catch either of your names while we were talking," the ex-Rocket continued, a trace of humor in her voice.

"Oh. My name is Lizzie." The said trainer steadied herself enough to talk. "And this is Psywater... and by talking I'm assuming that you did all the talking, because he doesn't actually say anything. To me, anyways."

"He did leave it mostly to me to keep up the conversation," Zinnia admitted. "It's nice to meet you. Both of you." She grinned. She had noticed that a lot of people were feeling down, what with the injuries, the destruction, and Team Rocket escaping. She was determined to stay as optimistic as she ever was... Or some people might call it simple childishness.
