...should I even consider trying to learn how to play the violin?

It would be epic... but do I have enough self-discipline to?

>.< I don't want to get a very expensive violin then not play it...

I took a year of violin lessons. It's fun, but it can be hard. Especially getting used to the fingerings. I'd say go for it. Some music shops rent out instruments, so you could rent a violin for a year and give it a shot before making a final decision.

Sounds like a good idea, but I'll do my research before seriously thinking about it... ^.^ I'll bet my mom can find someone at the college she works at to possibly teach me... Still... it'd be a serious commitment.

I was building flowerbeds today and transplanting some of my established plants... so things were pretty muddy, and my daughter was helping me with the Tonka dumptruck...

One load of rocks in particular turned out to be a pretty interesting load. She was pushing the truck across the yard to the dumping destination when one of the wheels got stuck on something... the truck stopped and my daughter went head first over the dumptruck... her face went straight into the mud...

I jump as soon as I see it happening, but by the time I had taken my first hurried stride, she jerked her head up and yelled, "I'm OKAY!"... then she looks back at me with a huge grin on her face and a clump of mud clinging to her nose and a big muddy black circle covering her forehead...

I couldn't help it, I busted up laughing and it lasted, all the while my daughter is looking at me like I was the one with the muddy face. I wanted to take a picture, but our camera was dead... Am I a bad mom?

I love tough daughters XD That's how mine is. She'll walk into the door knob or something then immediatly rub her head and say she's okay, even when she starts crying. But I would have laughed at that too. That had to have been pretty silly looking.

@guy with the revolver: please dont get pissed at anyone in the near future... O.o

@Elta: you ever heard of the song "Weight of the World" by Framing Hanley? You sound like you could do with a dose of feel-good ^^
My baby sister (will be four in April) does that all the time! >< she's so cute though. She'll be screwing around under my unusually high-up bed and all I hear is a loud thump! and she'll immediately say "I'm ok Ki-ki!" lol that's what she calls me.

@Sapphire: I've always wanted to play the violin, it just resonates with me whenever I hear it. I know how to read music and such, it's just that I'm not sure about an instrument. I'm too used to just opening my mouth and the notes coming out :

Ooh, I love that song. Especially when it's coupled with a Due South montage. ^_^ MOUNTIES!!! mrgreen

As far as favorite bands...

1.) Ayreon
2.) Guilt Machine
3.) Van der Graaf Generator
4.) Magma
5.) Univers Zero

(lol I love how everyone basically threw the band names right at the end of their posts blaugh )

@Elta: it is very pretty, but you not into the easy-going light-rock feel to it? : there are probably a hundred songs i could recommend, but everyone has that one song that makes them smile

@shandrel: I forgot to put Evanescence on mine! >-< I love Amy Lee's voice, I'm jealous of her a bit sweatdrop

New discussion starter (anyone who hasn't done the other one should now do both): State favorite feel-good songs d:
Mine: Weight of the World - Framing Hanley, 1234-Plain White T's, (call me weird, but...) All Summer Long - Kid Rock, and anything Bob Marley lol

LOL

Right now, my feel good song is the NickJr. song 'Family'... My daughter and I have been singing it, and it really is a pretty good song, even though it is meant for kids. It feels really good to sing it with my kids and know we al own it. LOL

Normally, I break out my first 1/2 of the 20th century music for a pick me up. I love to sing along with Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, Patty Page, and their like... Nothing like putting my own spin on 'Stormy Weather' on a gray day. Otherwise, I listen to my anime theme songs. I have half a hard-drive worth, and no one ever seems to notice if I get the words wrong. LOL

I sometimes listen to 'Third Day' when I need a pick-me-up that takes some time to take effect. It's a Christian rock band I grew up listening to.

I like Matt Kearny's song 'Nothing Left to Lose' if I am wanting something more modern....

If I need to blow of some steam, I like to try and match 'I'm so Sick' by Flyleaf...

... And sometimes hit low and high notes is a great way for me to let out, and so I keep 'Lithium' handy, (by Evanescence)...

But really most of my feel good songs don't have feel good lyrics, they are just a way for me to loosen and let go...
