"So," the neko said, "Why isn't your mother taking care of you?"
"I don't have a mother," the comment made the woman looked surprised at him. "When I was born my mother let her husband throw me into the ocean to die. My father saved me. In my book I don't have a mother. I had a picture of her of some years ago, but I gave it away to a friend."
The neko knew what picture it was, but she didn't look the same anymore. She had aged and was tanner than before. She felt like crying, "Maybe your mother couldn't stop her husband from doing that. Maybe she was still in pain after the labor."
"I have seen mother get up and run, tackle their husbands down to protect their babies. Don't tell me she couldn't stop him."
she fell silent.

"maybe she was being held down...." she said as she poured the hot water on two cups. Kai looked at her confused.
"Why are you protecting my mother so much?"
"Well I am a mother myself. A mother wouldn't let her children be killed without at least trying to fight." she placed the tea on the water. Kai looked away annoyed, but he still was thinking.

"Anyway, where did you co--" the neko had disappeared. She let the tea that Kai drank slowly, not liking the taste that much.

Kai was pcleaning his sword in front of the fireplace. The cold season started. He felt a sharp pain in his chest, the darkness moving inside of him. The place was so quiet it was eerie.

*Shadows around the fireplace shifted ever so slightly against the light of the fire burning within it as Torret inhabited them. From the shadows he looked out into the room and saw Kai cleaning the sword, making him leary about entering the room with a light creature pressent.*

Kai finished cleaning the sword and he hugged the sword, "Look how shiny, Aitrus would be proud of me if he saw how much the sword tinkles...." he looked down and let go of the sword, "But he doesn't care anymore..." he placed the sword on the floor and got up to the the table where he had left his coca. He took deep breaths trying to calm the pain, with no dice.

Kai looked up surprised, it was no spirit talking, "I haven't been abandoned. They just moved to other things, but we are all still friends, brothers." it felt strange talking to soneone he couldn't see. He even started to think that it might be his own imagination. He moved back to his sword, kneeling down to get his sword.

Kai watched the shadows move and picked his sword carefully and slowly walking back, "It...feels good. You know that when you really need them, they'll be there, and when you don't. They put a smile on your face. If you want, I can be your friend...." if this was the one that made him have darkness, it was safer to keep him close.

*Torret steps from the shadows of the wall directly behind Kai almost soundlessly. His clothes were slightly tattered and dirty, giving him a wild look. He stared at Kai for a moment with his piercing red eyes before speaking again.* "Shadows are the only comprimize between the light and the dark. They flow between the worlds separated by nature. You carry a shadow within you."

Kai's eyes went wide and moved back, "They won't be there for long...I'll remove that darkness." his whole chest was turning black and part of his neck. He didn't know what to do, "So...we friends?"
