James saw Ryu out of balance.

"Finnaly!" he muttered.

He found a chance to attack quickly and swiftly. He took out his remaining Shuriken and aimed at the branch and threw the Shuriken as hard as he could. Then as the shuriken hit and got stuck on the branch, everything on that branch fell. He then jumped to attack Ryu on hand to hand combat.

"Waaaa!" Ryukosay yelled as he fell off the branch and James started attacking him. "Hey, hey, you want to get up close and personal be my guest." Ryukosay said as he started returning blows to James.

The Circe stared at Katsu, evidently sharing similar sentiments, though slowly, she turned away, looking to Lieselotte who was already making her way past her, further into the camp. Her attention returned to the sheep girl and seemed so intent on her that the sudden lack of power went almost unnoticed. She took a deep breath, and then stepped forward, making her way towards Katsu rather than the rest of her allies. There was just something about her that reflected the Circe’s very self back at her. Yet to see that in a girl that she had never met before… The very idea seemed quite ludicrous to her… But in the world of magic, Sakazuki accepted that ‘anything was possible’ long ago.

Deciding to leave Katsu be, Shuku assisted Mei with the bowls and cups. While mentally criticizing them to be quite dirty, she was aware that they were in no place to be picky about their dishes. However, she made a silent note to wash them when their feast was over. “Shall I make your bowl, Mei?” She inquired, deciding to play it safe in case Mei’s clumsiness costed them their borderline gourmet meal. After all, it was far more appealing than the stew they had had the other night… Not that there was anything actually wrong with that.

Alice’s ploy had worked, the maid snapping from her trancelike state of woe as she gave a nod. “Right.” Her gaze moved back towards the stove. It wasn’t the best, being one geared mainly towards making ramen and the noms that complimented it, but it would have to do. Teaching Alice about noodles wouldn’t be of much good either… To carry around the dough and such… After all, how many travelers carried flour on them? Only merchants and such, right? Most just carried around those little instant noodle packets. “Is there anything in particular which you would like to learn?”

“I just wanted to learned something before I head home… Something, anything.” She paused briefly, as if realizing how Melona could manipulate those words into something of the slime girl’s favor. “…That has to do with the Ninja Arts,” she added, correcting herself gracelessly as she took note of the hand still upon her bottom. Hopefully then she could return home… After all, so long as she was out in the public, Melona seemed to be the only one who revered her so highly as a princess… And even then, smex littered every action.

The cuffed hands finally managed to get over Honehime’s head, looping around her neck. The girl had been ensnared within her coils. Against her side however, a limb brushed by. A hand? No… It was hard, unlike the dainty form against her. For someone like Honehime, such was impossible… Unless of course the girl had once again incorporated her skeletal structure into this conflict once more. Oh my…? In that case, did it mean that she was about ready to break free of her pacifistic attitude and actually begin true battle? In that case, this exercise was almost over.

A soft voice reached her and the blonde glanced over her shoulder, back to her table. “Fine.” She let out a sigh, one that revealed that she really was agitated that she was unable to give the Uchiha even a mild asskicking before she made her way back to the table, passing Miku another stare as she soon took her seat, stabbing the remains of her red velvet cake with merciless intent. If she ever ran into that boy again… Kind or nay, she’d beat the s**t out of him just for making her friend cry.

The two stepped onto a platform and as Pan bypassed the permission codes, they began to move up, taking the elevator back to the observation room. Stepping out, the commanding officer looked around for a moment. “Replay last known recording. Upon that verbal command, the screen before them seemed to divide into roughly eight major sections, each representing the second obstacle exercise, each slide representing a different angle that had been recorded by a separate surveillance camera as the scene played out accordingly. “You really hold no recollection of such within even your temporary memory files, V-13?”

“Of course. An Akimichi doesn’t joke around when it comes to food,” Shouko said cheerfully as she smiled towards Dizzy, evidently meaning every word she said. While the blue girl rose up, she had taken a moment to cover the food properly and wrap it up, placing it back within the very same bag that she had first brought it in, evidently to save for later. From here on out, she assumed that the rest would be a walk in the park… After all, this forest didn’t seem to be dangerous at all.

Honehime could feel Echidna's hands looping over her neck, felt it like the shadow of death was falling across her chilling her with it's grim intent. If it had been the her of several days ago, she might have froze under such an imposing feeling. But she had gotten just a little bit stronger, just a little bit braver. Just enough to resist the sensation of fear that rose up within her. She wasn't about to give up, there was more that she could do! She continued struggling, doing everything she could to make sure that Echidna couldn't get a grip around her neck. At the same time, her bone covered hand slid around toward the back of Echidna's neck, almost like she was trying to give her a one armed hug. Bujt this would be no hug. No, this would be something different, something that she had created through her own meager understanding of the world and her place in it.

Lieselotte moved deeper into the camp and continued looking around. She found traces that others had been there and left, and not even all that long ago. She wondered if they were other allies for this odd little group, if they would be coming back to introduce themselves later. She didn't ask about the missing people yet, though, not thinking that that was anything that needed to be answered immediately. After all, it looked like everyone would soon be eating, so it seemed there would be plenty of opportunities to ask. As she moved around camp, Elfriede did much the same, softly clicking as she moved from one spot to another. She wasn't really looking for traces of others' presences, she was standing guard, keeping an eye on any blind spots her sister might have, to prevent any sneak attacks.

Katsu began to move forward toward Sakazuki at the same time, until they were standing only a short distance apart, looking at each other, staring into each other's eyes. It was obvious that they both felt there was some connection between them, but neither seemed to have figured it out yet. After all, before that ball had been thrown, Katsu hadn't actually existed yet. Meanwhile, Mei was sheepishly (No offense to Katsu, of course!) grinning at Shuku, as she nodded. She knew she was clumsy, so if Shuku was offering to help her dish up, she would gladly accept her help, rather than risk dropping anything onto the ground. Hopefully she could at least be trusted not to do so while eating, too, otherwise she would be one pretty sad cow girl. And nobody would want to see that.

Zenia had almost left the village once more when an idea came to mind. Nothing urgent, just that she had already eaten a good deal of the small provisions she carried with her. And if she didn't know how long she would be watching her prey, then she would need to rectify that now, rather than endure it later. Without a word, she spun on her heel, her long, black coat flaring up as she strode back into the village's midst, to find a place to buy the bare essentials to keep her alive and alert during what could be a very long and silent vigil. The taste wasn't very important, and she didn't want to spend too much. As long as it would keep her fed and awake, that was good enough.

"Oh yeah." She had forgotten, when they first met, when she had been in disguise, that was what Menace had wanted, to learn the ways of the ninja. Well then, now that she was assisting her Princess, that meant she would, too! She smiled eagerly and took another look forward down the hall that seemed to stretch on forever. Before, she had been looking for an abandoned room where they might possibly have some more fun, behind closed doors. But now, she was looking to see if any looked occupied, as if there might be a class being held in any of them. It was still lunch break, they had eaten rather quickly, so classes might not be in session just yet. That wouldn't stop her from helping Menace look, though.

Alice spent a long moment thinking over Airi's question, while gazing at the various appliances and tools within the kitchen's confines. Obviously, no matter how much she learned, only parts of it could be used in an outdoor scenario. She did a lot of traveling, she would spend more time outside of villages rather than inside of them. So what she really needed was something that she could learn, something that could be used while outdoors, something that wouldn't require electricity or obscure or especially perishable ingredients. "Hmm, maybe something simple, something I could make while on the road. Something that would be more appetizing than braised gecko with random herbs."

Haku looked back and forth from Miku to Neru. It seems that brief interruption had sent a chill of poor moods into their midst, now she wasn't the only one feeling bad. She sighed softly, this made her feel even more depressed. She slowly took a bite of her tiramisu, but the general air of annoyance and sorrow made it lose much of the rich flavor she had been looking so forward to. Setting her fork down once more, she wondered if she could even eat it, and for a moment wished she had her bottle with her. Just one drink, it would make her feel better, right? Of course, some part of her knew that it never really did, and it never stopped at just one drink, either. But the bigger part of her thoughts overrode such common sense, urging her on. "..."

V-13 followed Pan silently, save for the continual softly metallic sounds that she made whenever she moved. Not quite the ratcheting of a clockwork mechanism, but not the grinding of complex gears, either. No, it was the soft sound of machinery working. She followed Pan into the observation room and took a quick scan of it, this being her first time to actually step inside of it. Before now, her dressing downs had always been in the barracks or at the scene of her disgrace. Never in a place where they could bring up the actual footage of her failures. she attempted to prepare herself for the worst. As such, she was certainly surprised when she watched the octet of screens replaying the footage from her last obstacle, the hostage rescue. Even watching herself do those things, she felt it had to be a fabrication, something that couldn't have happened. She had moved far too smoothly and rapidly to actually be her. But there were the splotches of fluorescent green paint, just as she was wearing now. She turned away from the screens to instead look to her superior officer, to answer her question. "Sir, no sir! No memories matching any of the playing footage are found within my memory banks, sir." She turned back to the screens to watch more of what happened, amazed at the false her's moves and tactics.

Etheldreda watched silently as Katsu and Sakazuki moved to stand face to face. Seeing them that close made her realize that there was a definite connection. To a being like her, who lived on magic more than anything else, she could sense their connection, and almost see it. It was a pale, ephemeral and twisting rope connecting them. A connection, but not a bond. Interesting. She had only known of one other such connection before in all her eons of existence. She hovered over Sakazuki's shoulder and whispered into her ear, not wanting anyone else to hear her guess without some more feedback. "Sakazuki, this girl, she is familiar to you, yes? have you ever created a clone, or a duplicate? Or have you ever split your soul into two to grant yourself longer life?"

Dizzy wasn't too familiar with Shouko's clan, the Akimichi, but she didn't think Shouko was lying. Apparently, they took food very seriously. She could respect that. Quite a few times during her life out here in the midst of the wilderness, she had had a difficult time finding enough to eat. Whether because there were no berries growing, or because other animals had gotten to the bushes first. So she could certainly understand Shouko's viewpoint. Once the food had been successfully wrapped up and put away, she looked out toward the woods beyond her glade. She knew she would have to leave, for at least a little bit. She was nervous, but not as scared as she might normally be. Just nervous. She tried to remember where the big tree had been, it had been a while since she had went to see it.

This time when Neru glared at her, Miku responded with a friendly and cheerful smile that seemed to clas with the current mood at the table. Since her mousse was now gone, she moved onto the tiramisu and ate it cheerfully. As she ate, she looked around to see if they could find the waiter in order to flag him down in order to get their check. Not that she was in a hurry, but she was sure her friends may be a little tired after all that had happened today. While looking, she thought aloud something that came across her mind. "I wonder what's going on in Hidden Night right now and if any one misses us being gone for so long." She wasn't expecting an answer since she hadn't meant (or realized) that she had asked that outside of her mind, but if Neru answered she would probably get scolded at and Haku would probably get quieter or possibly sad.

James attacked directly at Ryu on his extremities, and he defended himself as much as he could but still got hit by Ryu's fast attacks. James got cuts on his cheek, arms and legs, but he kept fighting never giving up.

"Substitution jutsu!" he said and a cloud of smoke appeared and it emerged a combat dummy.

"Raikiri!" he shouted as he came running from behind Ryu at high speed.

It took several moments for the Circe to realize that her little fairy had asked her a question. “Not at all…” She whispered quietly in response, the thought that the ball might’ve had something to do with this never occurring to her. Without another word, she held her hand out to the girl in a friendly handshake. She wasn’t quite sure what the reasoning behind such an act was… Personally, she expected to be some magical vision- like flash explaining this whole ordeal to her when they made contact.

Using her sleeve, Shuku used it as a cloth, wiping any of the larger remains from their last meal off before she discarded her sweater once more. After all, she had worn it for a couple days now, so it was due for quite a washing, especially after any Mei related affairs. Eventually she moved to set the plates down, keeping onto one which was to be the cowgirl’s. “What would you like to eat, Mei? Everything?” She inquired, offering to make the clumsy girl’s dish as well, apparently.

Braised geckos? Random herbs? At this point, if there was one question that Airi would’ve wanted answered about Alice it was how the hell did the girl go so long without utterly dying of food poisoning?! Realizing that such an inquiry would be bitter, she thought. “Something appetizing…? Like a salad?” She asked quietly, though her mind was producing other possibilities. Soups, the ever classical ‘wiener on a stick’ or even something that involved bacon… Though such was unlikely, except on significantly shorter trips.

The more Menace trudged along, the less enthusiastic she became about the whole idea. Despite spending countless hours amongst the dead, the Imohtep was not a very patient girl. It was no longer than five minutes until she let out a whine of despair, moaning and groaning about how slim the chances of them running into a tutor seemed to be at this point. “…You tried teaching me earlier,” she began, resorting back to the time when they had first met. It was evidently that she was quite desperate at this point. “Do you know anything on a serious level?”

Honehime’s arm had coiled around Echidna’s own neck, and so soon as pressure was applied, a slight groan from the swordswoman revealed that it, indeed, was proving to be quite effective. However, in counter attack, she mimicked the Kaguya’s action, but with two arms… And with the bodyscissors still in effect, it became a matter of which of the two combatants would last longer… The iron boned girl, or the constricting little anaconda.

“I doubt they’d miss Haku or myself,” Neru replied quietly as she took another agitated forkful of cake. “Though I wonder how our clan is holding out, seeing as they’re missing one of their star singers,” she mused, evidently speaking of Miku. Being put off in an even more agitated state by the Uchiha, this was merely her subtle way of lashing out and venting… And with Miku present, it was quite evident on who she had chosen to suffer her wrath.

Hearing such a response, the commanding officer frowned. To believe such an answer was utterly absurd! “So am I to accept that between the First Stage and the Second you were replaced by an exact copy of yourself whom fulfilled your exercise for you and then managed to switch back just as I was watching?” Her arms crossed. “Cameras don’t lie.” Yes, they could be edited and reconfigure, yes, but for such an act to go undetected, her sensors, as well as that of the barracks security system would’ve certainly caught wind of such a digital assault.

Giving Dizzy the moment she seemed to require to plan out her step, Shouko rocked back and forth to pass the time. This however, was merely a way of containing her excited, little (haha) self. Soon enough however, she took a step forward, moving past Dizzy. While she did not yet leave the glade, she turned to look back at the girl with evident eagerness as she smiled widely. “May we be off?” She asked finally.

"Waa, hey no fair! copy cat!" Ryukosay yelled as James did substitution jutsu, with his byakugan he saw James coming at him from behind. 'Crap, my right hand is still messed up from that first Raikiri. Well I hope I can do it with my left hand.' Ryukosay thought while turning around focusing. "I was planning on keeping this secret, spiraling sphere of water(Rasengan Suiton)!" Ryukosay yelled as he reached his palm out in front of him. Water and chakra began to collect and swirl on the palm of his left hand. The two mixed and form into a single fast rotating sphere of water.

James noticed all the chakra concentrated on Ryu's left hand, he grinned and kept coming at him.

"I knew that this was a sparring here" he said and he got even closer to Ryu.

James moved his arm forward aming at Ryu's Ball of chakra. He wanted to see how much force was contained in the ball. It's just how the saying goes, "Curiosity killed the cat" thats what he had in his conscience.

Honehime knew that just because she was finally beginning her own attack, it was no guarantee that it would make Echidna break off her own assault. No, it would likely make her teacher increase her own attacks. So instead of what she had originally thought to attempt, she changed her plan. It still involved getting her hand near the back of Echidna's neck, but not for a true attack. No, this was something else. Something underhanded, but effective. Something that could be used to incapacitate, rather than kill. Her own technique, with the much too lengthy name which she spoke even as she began it. "Kan Yogen no Junsei Maboroshi." As she activated her own created technique, she caused a resonance within her own bones. Not just a resonance to make them grow, no, a resonance, a pulse, that could affect her opponent's bones. If this worked, Echidna would be receiving a rather uncomfortable pulse to the neck that would make much of her skeletal system difficult to properly control. If it worked.

Lieselotte and Elfriede continued to stand guard for a time, even going so far as to move to the edge of camp and search carefully, moving around the camp's perimeter. Finally, they returned. Nothing had been found, nobody was about to burst into camp and cause chaos. Yet. She knew there were more strangers out there, waiting to do just that, though. She was positive. After all, it had already happened about a half a dozen times, in less than three days. So it would happen again, there was no question about it. In her mind, at least. The only questions that didn't have any answers were who the new strangers would be, and when they would show up. Of course, they would show up at a time when nobody was expecting them. So maybe, just maybe, if she stayed alert enough, they might not be able to show up, because she would always be expecting them? A bit of paranoid thinking, but then again, she was paranoid.

Mei watched curiously as Shuku used her sweater to try to clean the worst of what was left in the bowls before shucking off the now stained garment. If the cow girl had been thinking a little more alertly, she might have thought to try using alchemy to clean the dishes. But she was Mei, so of course she wasn't thinking that alertly. Instead, she just nodded eagerly, grateful that Shuku was willing to help her dish up. She may not have been the smartest crayon in the shed, but she wasn't blind. she knew she was a klutz. So when Shuku asked her if she wanted a little of everything, she nodded again, looking at the freshly cooked meal eagerly. Meanwhile, Katsu was still staring at Sakazuki, not sure what this odd feeling meant. It wasn't how she felt about her Mistress or her Alpha, but there was still some form of a Bond to this girl. But what was it? They were close in a way she couldn't describe. She didn't know. Nonetheless, when Sakazuki offered her hand, Katsu took it eagerly, shaking hands energetically.

Now that she had stocked up on the bare minimum of provisions, Zenia was ready to leave the small village that was part of the Academy. This time, for sure. She strode in the direction of the forest, already making plans on how to get close enough to properly monitor everything while not being spotted. The better type of hiding place, trees or brush? Numerous questions like those passed through her mind, and she answered them one by one, slowly weaving the various bits together until she would have a fully laid out plan of attack. Not that she planned to attack, yet. First, she would monitor them for a while. Then, once she had found what she needed to know, she could proceed with settling the score with Sakazuki. Hopefully they wouldn't be expecting her back so soon, it just might give her a window of opportunity that she could not afford to pass up.

When Melona noticed Menace growing depressed and slowing down, she did, too, so she wouldn't walk past the Princess. When the Imhotep turned and asked her if she actually knew anything of the various techniques the Academy was purported to offer, she had to pause to think about it. She had spied on the Academy for a few days, almost a week, so she had picked up some information. But would it be enough? She wasn't sure. "Well, I know a little. If you want me to try to teach you again, Princess, then I shall." She paused as she tried to put together the various fragments she had overheard before, put them into something that actually made sense. You didn't survive by eating large quantities of leaves, flowers and grasses without knowing what a salad was. Of course, the versions she had had up until now could hardly be called real salads. But at it's most basic level, they were. Finally, she nodded, eager to see if there was some secret to making good salads, like the kind they showed in advertisements or photographs. "Alright, salads sound like a good place to start! Will we be using dandelions? Because they aren't too bad while still yellow. But once they go fluffy, they aren't very tasty." Haku remained quiet for a long moment, trying to will herself to stay strong, to not break down yet again. It wasn't easy, but she was doing it. Slowly but surely, inch by inch, she was pulling herself out of that all too familiar ever deepening spiral of depression. And then, there it appeared before her, like a lifeline. A change in conversation! She grabbed it with her metaphysical free hand, and finally spoke again. "I doubt they noticed I ever left... But it will be good to be home again, won't it?" For a moment, her thoughts cast back to her time spent within Hidden Night. She tried to focus on the good memories, though there were blessed few of them. As she did, she finally returned to eating her dessert, and was relieved that it actually tasted good, like it was supposed to. Her depressed mood from before had very nearly cost her such a tasty dessert, that would have truly been a cause for being depressed! "Sir, no sir." V-13 had to pause to gather her thoughts, to sort the various hypotheses into a potential working idea, that she might try to more fully explain the strange phenomenon. After all, she was virtually positive that she herself had not left the field. So a physical duplicate was virtually impossible. After all, with the course's complex security and video surveillance system, there would have been at least one instant of catching both her and the duplicate on digital film. No, this was something different, potentially more sinister and dangerous. "Sir, I believe it could have been an attempt at remote access of this unit's frame and systems. If so, then a scrubber program could have been entailed to delete all relevant data from this unit's memory banks. With the base's higher security, that same program would be very unlikely to be able to do the same to the base's recordings." V-13 paused, as if weighing the importance, the significance of what she was saying. After all, if there existed someone out there, or something, with the capability of taking remote control of any of the soldiers or cadets here, then the results could be truly catastrophic. after all, if a senior officer had been seized, then arming codes for defense systems could have been transmitted, or even an entire base self destruct! The possibilities were truly horrifying. If that was the case, then they should consider themselves lucky that the only one seized was the failure. She didn't voice any of these suspicions, as they were just that, suspicions, and not anything that could be proven. She would voice her opinions if asked, but even then, she would need to temper them with realistic knowledge, to avoid suggesting anything that was truly impossible.

Etheldreda paused, considering what Sakazuki had told her. She had been so sure that that had been the answer. That ephemeral connection, what other option could possibly fit? She brought a hand to her mouth as she lightly tapped her chin, in a pose that looked more suited to her full size version, rather than her currently chibi form. Nonetheless, she was attacking the problem, trying to think of any other possible solution, any other way of asking, that might bring about an answer more in line with what she had been expecting. It may have simply been pride on her part, or just a firm belief that the knowledge she had was not wrong. After all, she was a Grimoire, a book of very high caliber. Somehow, she knew she was on the right track, but there was something more, something that she hadn't thought to ask, something that Sakazuki didn't realize, something more.

And considering just how big of a tree it was, it wouldn't be very hard at all to find it by sight at that point. Still feeling nervous about leaving the protection of her glade, Dizzy set out. She paused at the glade's border, nearly glancing back at her home. But then she took a step forward, and slipped out into the forest. The weather was perfect, excellent for strolling through the woods. The clouds were high and puffy and white, not even a hint of future rain. The sun was warm but the breeze was cool, a perfect pair. They would be able to find the tree just fine.

He screamed loudly and their attacks colided, James kept his chakra flow steady but he had to some how not to bur all of it. He relaxed and kept his flow steady. Both chakra filled attacks, mixed and created small explosions, hurting both users.
In a way James and Ryu both got electrocuted, because the attack Ryu was water based and James electricity based, and when they combined both suffered the same attacks.

Kyo looked at the battle and he whined. He grabbed his master's torn jacket and jumped from branch to branch, then he jumped over the balcony railing and into the restaurant then he ran at Neru throwing the jacket on her feet and he started barking madly.
