The other bush girl didn't look as tough, or well, her face didn't as she faced down Kimiko. "Let's go Bellsprout!" Out of the pokeball came a wiggling Bellsprout. The small grass type pokemon didn't seem to know how to hold still as it did a sort of creepy little dance and it's black eyes seemingly leered at Kadaj. "Bellsprout use Growth!" The girl shouted not seemingly disturbed at all by her strange pokemon. The grass type pokemon started to wiggle at a more alarming rate its movements more befitting of a Tangla or something. The pokemon then seemed to glow and grow bigger making it not small and creepy but bigger and creepy now.

Robin, who should be paying attention to the girl with the Bonsley across from her couldn't take her eyes off of the strange pokemon. She had been about to ask what a ginger was, why were they calling her that pink stuff at sushi places? When the other had sent out their pokemon. It was strangely horrifying to look at. Even though she knew just by looking that Slowpoke was a lot stronger then it she was glad it wasn't her pokemon going up against it! There was just something creepy about it. Shaking herself out of it Robin looked over to see that Slowpoke had yawned. Not the normal type to as a big cloud floated out of his mouth and started to head over to the small tree like pokemon.

It was strange to hear that Jason had come to Sinnoh with no real plan in mind, as it was fairly uncommon. Most trainers wanted to capture as many new Pokemon as possible and take the Sinnoh League challenge, or aim for the Sinnoh Grand Festival. Jason wasn't exactly a normal trainer though, so it wasn't that unexpected. "There's nothing wrong with that," the Sinnoh champion said, nodding. "Some of my favourite adventures happened only because I didn't have an actual agenda in mind." She glanced up as Jason noticed the bird Pokemon, and smiled. It was a small flock of Starly, but she chose not to tell Jason what they were and thus spoil it for him. "Well, if you like Steel-type Pokemon, I know of a few that you'd probably find very interesting," she said, taking a small device from her pocket. She, of course, owned a Pokedex, though this one was a fairly old model despite its recent updates, and she turned it on, waiting a few seconds as it powered up. "There's one called Bronzor, and I could tell you where to find them, but that wouldn't be much fun, now would it?" She held the device out to Jason so he could see the Bronze Pokemon on screen. "I think one of these would suit you well."

It was safe to say that Surge was feeling pretty confident at this point, and he crossed his thick arms over his chest and gave a hearty laugh as the Kricketune rushed forward, its scythes glowing brightly as its Fury Cutter gained strength. "We've got this, Magnemite!" the Gym Leader called. "Counter with a Spark attack!" The Magnet Pokemon blinked its one eye in response, static starting to ripple from its body. Before it could generate enough electricity to perform its attack, it found itself on the receiving end if a vicious slashing attack. The Fury Cutter hit hard - a critical hit, no less - and Magnemite reeled, falling to the ground with a heavy clatter. The Steel-type resisted Bug-type attacks yes, and its defenses were fairly solid as well, but the Magnet Pokemon wasn't known for huge amounts of stamina and it was down for the count. The previous Tri-Attack had weakened it more than it had let on, and even Surge was stunned to see his Pokemon lying on the floor, unconscious.

"Well how 'bout that?" the gym leader chuckled, scratching his head as he recalled the Magnet Pokemon into its Pokeball. "Good job, 'lil buddy, you fought good. But now it's time to bring out the big guns! Raichu, go! Mega Kick this bug into oblivion!" The words were barely out of Surge's mouth when the Mouse Pokemon burst from his Pokeball, sparks of electricity already raining from its cheeks. Raichu hit the ground running, jumping into the air and doing a somersault before coming down towards the Kricketune, his powerful foot extended for one of his favourite attacks.

While the two humans checked out the Department Store directory, Amber shot heated death-glares in Lee's direction, more than certain the uncouth little ruffian was thinking bad things about her. Karrigan was clueless as to her Vulpix's paranoia and instead nodded in agreement with Amy's choice of store, though she did frown slightly when she saw it was up more than a few floors and they'd have to take the elevator. It wasn't that she was afraid of them, she just didn't like them all that much, nor did she like the thought of the Vulpix and Tyrogue together in such an enclosed space. Without a second thought she picked Amber up again, much to the fox's delight, and gave her a stern look to warn her not to start anything. Amber simply gazed up at her trainer in response with an innocent look - of course she wouldn't start anything, not with this many witnesses around.

"Sounds like a plan to me," the redhead said in quiet agreement, taking an extra second to see what other stores were on that floor. There wasn't much else that was very eye-catching, so she located the elevator, shifting the Vulpix's weight in her arms. She also wanted to check out the Technical Machines department, as she was interested in expanding on her Pokemon's move pools, but she could be patient enough to browse the clothing store with Amy. After all, she did want to replace her soiled scarf.

Bibarel was more than pleased to see the Zubat that had been in the process of trying to attack her with a glowing Wing Attack be driven off by a burst of flames from Solaris, and the Beaver Pokemon gave the fox a thumbs-up before focusing back on their attackers. The Zubat that the Vulpix attacked had flown away, smoldering and shrieking, and that left one Zubat, its focus on the offending, fire-breathing fox, and so-called leader. It gave a loud screech and flapped its wings, though it wasn't until it came out of the shadows completely did Jake realize it wasn't a Zubat at all, but a Golbat.

The Pokemon bared its sharp fangs and dove at Bibarel, attempting a bite, but Jake had other plans. "All right, it's time to flatten that thing with your Rollout," the blonde boy said, feeling slightly winded now that his anger-inducing adrenaline had passed. He really didn't want to show any weakness in front of Jade, though, so he toughed it out, watching with satisfaction as Bibarel curled into a ball and vaulted herself into the Golbat, scoring a lot of damage from the super-effective hit. Bibarel did take some of the Bite attack in the process, but her boosted defense made it hard to even feel the puncture wounds on her shoulder, and instead she zipped across the cavern floor, gaining momentum and strength as she barrelled along.

The cool air whistling through her hair didn't bother Mai as she and her new Rocket recruit flew through the night, the bustling Jubilife City their destination. Mai's thoughts had been rather scattered for the duration of the flight, as not only was it more difficult than she thought to plan a mission for Katie, but she kept revisiting her memories of her past gym battles. The one that stood out best in her mind was her match with Surge, as the poor fool hadn't even realized he was battling his own daughter that day. She'd stomped him flat, too, and added insult to injury by using her then-Wartortle against the Electric-type master. He'd taken the loss rather well, and even though she got a badge out of it, it had taken ever ounce of willpower she had to not blow her cover and attack him on the spot and destroy his precious gym. The memory had caused a faint snarl to curl her lip, and she nudged the Aerodactyl with her knee, perhaps a little more roughly than she'd intended, to steer the Pokemon towards the mass of glowing city lights in the distance.

The brightness of Jubilife City was rather stunning compared to the darkness they'd just been traveling through, as there had been no light at all while they passed over the vast Eterna Forest. The city was still as busy as ever, and Mai was glad they'd be able to avoid its bustling citizens by landing on the roof of their shiny, new HQ. The building still had a ways to go before it could be considered the true base of Sinnoh operations for Team Rocket, but at least it had been established. The Aerodactyl touched down safely on the roof and the two trainers dismounted before the ancient creature was recalled into his Pokeball for a well-deserved rest.

Two Rocket grunts, one in uniform, and the other in plainclothes, greeted the admin and her protege as they approached. "Communications with the other bases are running smoothly, ma'am," the uniformed one said, his voice quivering slightly.

"The recruiting station is set up and ready to start seeking new members," the other said, slightly braver than his teammate.

"Good," Mai said, answering both at once, though she turned to the one not in uniform. "Start recruitment protocols first thing tomorrow morning. We need at least three dozen by eleven o'clock tomorrow."

"Three... dozen?" he repeated, awestruck. "B-but that's..."

Mai cut him off. "That's what?" she snapped.

"Very good," the grunt said, wisely changing his answer. "Anything else, ma'am?"

"Yes, in fact," Mai said, turning to Katie. "Our first recruit. I need the forms printed up and in my office in five minutes. Do not keep me waiting." The two grunts muttered their understandings and scurried off to escape Mai's icy stare. Satisfied with the situation, Mai looked down at Katie and smiled. "Welcome home."

Maybe she was right about that, but in all likely hood Joy knew he was responsible for trashing the room. It was under his name after all and he never formally checked out. No matter how he looked at it, he was in trouble. "Apologize? That's not my style. What's done is done, I don't feel like going just to get scolded." He said plainly as they approached the red roofed center, wondering that he would have to do. "I guess...if you don't mind, you could open the window in your room and I could sneak in that way. It's not like we haven't shared a room before." It might have been a bit too much to ask at this point, considering what had happened at the contest hall. Even though things seemed a little better now, and seeing her smile and holding her hand felt good, he didn't know if she was fully ready to trust him so soon. Hell, even he wasn't sure he'd trust himself. There was no denying what he did, and while Crenu was well aware of the insanity of his paranoid accusations, he still made them. His mind was still in a place where he was able to fall so deeply into insecurity, fragile enough that the voice in the back of his head was able to take control and would have done so permanently had Riza not managed to break him free. His paranoia was still in there, but for now Crenu was just going to ignore it and hope for the best. Whether or not Riza could do the same was another question. Seeing her now though, being with her like this, it all seemed ok.

"Oh? Interesting steel types you say?" Jason said, perking up at the mention of such a thing. He quickly hurried to her side and eyed the screen eagerly, his dex was newer than this one but he hadn't really seen any pokemon from this region yet so it was pretty much empty. "Bronzor, the bronze pokemon...doesn't really look bronze does it?" He said curiously, though he loved the look of it regardless. It was a kinda teal color with bright yellow eyes, circular sections separated by different shades of teal and orbs around it's body. From the back view there seemed to be a leaf like symbol, it was a very ancient looking pokemon. The only things he had seen from old was Unkown and Claydol, and they looked drastically different but according to the data these too were pokemon found in ruins. "A Psychic Steel type, man that's cool. I can't wait to study this pokemon, especially since there's still so much speculation when it comes to ancient pokemon. Thank you Cynthia, you really know how to get the blood boiling! This is gonna be a real good adventure I can feel it!" He grinned imagining the whole thing, traversing dusty old broken down ruins and finding ancient pokemon roaming about. Ancient guardians hiding a dark buried past, man that was cool. Maybe he should become an professor majoring in archaeology! Either way he was excited to get started. "I think I'm gonna start with that mountain. I wonder what's on the other side..." he said glancing at the impossibly huge land mass, a truly intimidating and awe inspiring site. "Hmm, thank you champion. I guess this is where we part ways, I'm sure you've got lots of work to do."

Carlos watched intently, strumming paused as he watched ready to see Javier take a hit from Magnemite, but he was in luck! The magnemite took a hard hit from Fury Cutter, and while it had only doubled in power once it was enough to slash through with a critical strike. This was very fun, and Javier seemed to be enjoying himself as well. Of Carlos's three pokemon, Javier was his most serious more into battling than the other two. But just as his trainer, music was still his passion and he played his scythes like a fiddle as the magnet pokemon went down. This was it, they were both down to their last pokemon each and Carlos was eager to know what Surge had planned next. What he wasn't expecting however was the powerhouse pokemon that the Vermillion gym was famous for to come barreling out, and wasting no time in getting things rolling. The Raichu jumped out and and sprung up into the air, comign down with a massive kick brimming with destructive force. Javier couldn't do a single thing, and took the attack directly getting planted into the ground by it's power. "Olle, Javier estas bien?" Carlos called out, the cricket pokemon getting up from the floor shakily, that was a really heavy hit. It hurt a lot too, but Javier wasn't done yet. Calros nodded, strumming out an attack beat. "Cortefuria otra ves!" Using the same move over and over made things a bit bland, but when using moves like Fury Cutter one had to commit until it missed. Javier hissed wildly as he rubbed his scythes together, growing brighter and sharper as their power doubled for the second time, not missing a step and slashing at the electric mouse. It wasn't going to be as powerful as a mega kick just yet, but two more consecutive blows and it was going to be a full power ready to rend things asunder.

Levi picked himself up and returned Orchid to her pokeball. He continued to walk threw the forest until he came to the exist. Levi sighed as it was beginning to get dark and he just made it out of the forest in time. As he entered Viridain City he decided to rest at the pokecenter. In the morning he set of once again towards Pallet Town. Levi was able to easily go threw route one unlike the previous routes. He entered Pallet Town and started to feel his stomach churn. He was getting nervous about meet Professor Oak. He walked to the front of the lab and entered threw the doors. As he walked in to the lab he say Professor Oak holding a Rattata that was struggling in his arms.

"Ouch!" Professor Oak yelped as the rat pokemon bit him. He placed the little pokemon on the ground. It scurried away. He then turned to see Levi standing there. "O hello there. I'm Professor Oak is their something you need from me?" He asked the boy.

"Hello. My name is Levi I was told to come here by Officer Jenny of Cerulean City" He said nervously to the older man.

"Ahhhh yes now I remember" He said well walking over to a counter and picking something up. "This is a pokedex. Jenny thought you would be able to help me with my research" He handed the device over to Levi. "I would be very grateful if you could help me. All you have to do is collect up information about different kinds of Pokemon. Just open up the pokedex and point it at the Pokemon you want to know about" Oak ran over to the little rat pokemon picking it up once again. "Here try scanning this Rattata" He held up the Pokemon to Levi.

Levi opened up the pokedex and pointed it at the pokemon. Then suddenly it started to talk. "Rattata the mouse Pokemon. Cautious in the extreme, its hardy vitality lets it live in any kind of environment." The device read out. Levi looked at it with amazement. He had never seen something like this before.

Oak let the small Rattata down and walked over to Levi. "See it's easy " He said well slapping Levi on the back. Levi stepped forward a couple of steps from the impact. "So Levi what will it be?" He asked the boy.

"Okay I'll do it" Levi said happily but still at a quiet interval.

"Excellent!" Oak said loudly well laughing. "Make sure to keep in touch and don't forget to gather information on as many Pokemon as you can" He said happily.

"Yes sir." Levi said well leaving the lab. This was the start of a new adventure.

Cynthia was happy to see just how interested in everything Jason seemed to be, as it wasn't often you'd encounter a trainer who's only goal was to get stronger and stronger. About ninety-nine percent of the trainers she did meet wanted to be the strongest trainer, or top coordinator, or a combination of both, and there was nothing wrong with goals like that; it was just refreshing to find someone that was focused primarily on learning and strengthening his knowledge skills. She shut down her Pokedex and put it away, nodding. "Yes, I believe you are right." She too glanced at Mt Coronet, which held not only a challenge, but many mysteries within it as well. She'd learned a lot traversing that mountain, and she smiled. "All right, Jason, it was nice getting to know you. Please feel free to contact me if you really need to, and I am glad I was able to help you find a path." As much as she enjoyed her position and everything she'd accomplished, she also enjoyed helping trainers out and offering advice. She believed that every meeting between people and Pokemon, no matter how brief, set something in motion for the future. She was still smiling as she gave the hat-wearing boy her phone number. He was right; she did have things to do. This evening, she was needed in Hearthome City for a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

Nothing made Surge happier than battling with his favourite Pokemon, and seeing the Mouse Pokemon's powerful kicking attack hit home made him give a happy shout. Raichu seemed very happy as well, more static flaring from his cheeks as he grinned at the Kricketune. Carlos had given an order, which was a mystery to Raichu, and he watched as the Bug-type raced forward, its scythes glowing with power. By now Surge had figured out that he was facing a Fury Cutter-wielding Pokemon, and he knew that the attack would continue to gain power with every successful slash. "Raichu, get outta the way," he called. Dodging wasn't really a part of Surge's relatively flashy style, but if he could reset Fury Cutter's power back to square one, he'd have time to lay down the hurt.

Raichu nodded, not interested in getting slashed by those dangerous-looking arm blades and he leaned to the left before making a quick deke to the right, feeling the rush of air as he avoided the sharp scythe. Or, that was what should have happened, but instead Raichu found his body not cooperating. His movements were sluggish and he felt like he was in a dream, trying to escape from an unknown terror, but he couldn't move, he was paralyzed! His eyes snapped open and he looked up in time to see Javier bringing down one of those terrible scythes, and he shrieked out in pain as the blade cut into his back. Surge was speechless by what had just happened; his Pokemon was acting very strangely, almost drunk and had just taken a powerful hit even though it should have been easily avoided. He growled, and clenched a fist. "C'mon, Raichu! Get it together!" he shouted.

Lee's eyes had narrowed after witnessing the Electro Ball, and he was very much regretting challenging this girl. He was almost tempted to call it off, but he didn't want to appear like the coward he truly was. Instead, he sighed, and eyed the Ampharos before raising a hand. "Banette, Zangoose, Shadow Ball and Crush Claw," he commanded, trying his best to sound like he wasn't rattled. Both of Lee's Pokemon were able to fight off their hampering paralysis long enough to make their respective attacks; the Zangoose let loose with its terribly sharp claws while Banette formed and lobbed another orb of ghostly energy at Sparkle. The Shadow Ball had actually hit Zangoose first, but since it had no effect whatsoever, it went straight through and struck the already weakened Ampharos a split second before the Cat Ferret's Crush Claw hit home.

It was rather painful to watch as the two Pokemon double-teamed Sparkle, and Miharu narrowed her own eyes as she watched her gentle-natured Pokemon collapse weakly. She felt a small flare of anger surge through her as she recalled the Electric-type. So far, Mori, Petunia and Sparkle had been brought down due to harsh attacks, and while she tried to be more of a strategist rather than go for pure power, she wanted to wipe that boy's smug grin right off his face. It seemed that a bit of the Summers' family temper had made it through to the Winters girl as she snatched up Lily's PokeBall and let it fly. The Ivysaur once again appeared in her trademark shower of pink flower petals, but she seemed to understand the serious battle and it died down quickly as she sized up her opponents. Miharu wasn't sure, but she figured the Zangoose was the more dangerous of the remaining Pokemon and she pointed at it. "Aska, use Aerial Ace," she commanded, her voice eerily authoritative even to her. "Lily, Seed Bomb!"

A slight smirk had indeed crossed Lee's face as he watched the Ampharos faint, and it didn't waver when he saw the Ivysaur. The girl commanded both her Pokemon to attack Zangoose, which undoubtedly was his stronger Pokemon on the field right now. "Banette, cover Zangoose," he called, slashing the air with a hand. Banette nodded meekly and managed to throw itself in front of Zangoose just as the Pidgeot honed in on them, crying out in pain from the Flying-type's sharp talons. This was followed up a moment later by several golf ball-sized seeds hurtling through the air and exploding as they made contact with the Marionette Pokemon. The bursting seeds were too much for it and it faltered back, leaving Zangoose open to take a good amount of damage from the Seed Bomb as well. He silently cursed to himself as he recalled his unconscious Banette, not too happy with his two remaining Pokemon choices. "Cacturne, you're up," he called. "Ingrain, now!" The Scarecrow Pokemon appeared in a flash, roots already starting to snake out from the spines on its feet. No sooner had it touched down when the small vines took root, ensuring that their host would regain health and energy every round.

Riza was very tempted to roll her eyes when Crenu stated that he wasn't one to apologize, but she managed to stop herself. "Scolding?" she repeated, raising an eyebrow. "Regardless, one should take responsibility for their actions, but whatever. That's up to you, I don't care." They'd paused just outside the PokeCenter, and she turned to look at him, smiling wryly. "And now you wanna sneak into a pretty girl's room in the middle of the night? Naughty boy, Shiro," she said, now taking an ironic moment to scold him, though playfully. She glanced back at the PokeCenter, and then sighed. "But yeah, I guess that's better than you sleeping in the street." She patted his shoulder and then leaned in and kissed him gently on the cheek. "Come on, let's go and see about your fate." She did a pretty good job of pretending like nothing was bothering her, but in fact just the opposite was the truth. A part of her was still terrified of Shiro after what had happened, and she was almost tempted to try and run, but the bigger, braver part of her forced her to stay behind. Despite whatever paranoid rantings had occupied his brain, she still cared for him a lot, and she wanted to help him work through it, though whether or not he'd let her was a whole other story.

Deciding to get it over with, Riza took a deep breath and strolled forward, stepping easily in through the sliding doors. The inside was a lot cooler than the outside, but the Blackthorn City girl didn't seem to notice. Her Pokemon didn't need any treatment since they were taken care of at the contest hall, so she walked up to the front desk and simply asked for a room. As the evening nurse looked for the key, Riza motioned for Crenu to do the same while doing her best to look casual.

Katie was only mildly nervous as the powerful Aerodactyl began the flight, but that nervousness quickly melted away once they were fully in the air. If anything, flying like this was more marvelous than Katie had ever imagined. Her long ponytails were tossed around in the wind and she knew they'd get badly tangled, but she didn't care. She closed her eyes and breathed in deeply, very much excited for the day she could fly freely like that with Noa. She had little doubt in her mind that her Staravia would choose to evolve, and Genki too, as the two would probably pull off another insane double evolution in order to one-up the other. 'Someday I'll make those two battle together, just for fun,' she thought, already smiling at the idea. Both her Pokemon were strong, and she cared for them both, but she did not care for their inane fighting between one another, and she wanted them to respect each other as teammates, as well as for their strengths.

She had no idea what was on Mai's mind as they flew, but she definitely hoped that the Rocket admin wasn't regretting recruiting her. Katie was oddly excited about reaching their destination, and she smiled brightly as her hometown came into view. It looked different from so high up, and at night, and she was actually quite surprised when they didn't land by the PokeCenter or something similar, but the Aerodactyl landed them safely on a roof, no less, and at first Katie didn't know where they were. It became apparent though when she saw two people coming out to meet them. One guy was clad in a black uniform with a large, red R on the chest. He also wore a beret and a lame black mask, and Katie shook her head. 'Who even wears berets anymore?' the orange haired girl thought.

It was hard for Katie to determine what was more amusing, the horrendous Rocket uniform or the way the two grunts seemed to shrink away from Mai as she spoke to them. The small girl wore a smirk as she watched the two from just behind the blonde woman, again wishing that she had that kind of power over others. It seemed Team Rocket were very interested in growing their numbers, though it wasn't a big surprise seeing as they had only just started their work here. Katie recalled hearing rumors of a Team Galaxy or Galactic or something a few years ago, but they'd vanished after a raid on a building in Veilstone City and hadn't been heard from since. She looked up at Mai as she sent the two grunts scurrying for cover, and smiled as the phrase had two meanings. "Thank you," she said, giving a quick nod. "What now?"

Amy felt a little bad for dragging Karrigan along with her to go shopping, of all things. She was about to suggest that they could split up and meet in an hour or so, but Karrigan had agreed and was already heading towards the elevator, Vulpix in her arms. Lee huffed in disagreement and Amy hastened to catch up, glad that the door opened almost immediately as she pressed the button. As the small cluster of people filed out, Amy, Flora, and Lee stole inside the elevator, waiting for their friends to join them before the bespectacled girl pressed the button that would bring up to the floor they wanted.

"I won't be long, I promise," Amy said when they started to move up, biting her bottom lip and ducking her head a little. "And we can go wherever you want after this. Did you want to look at other stores?" Actual trainer stores? she wanted to ask, but it seemed foolish. TMs and HMs and other things she needed to learn, to be able to employ. She resisted the urge to laugh at herself and remained quiet for the rest of the elevator ride up, bringing them to a bustling floor with all sorts of shops and people. Amy recalled Lee into his Pokeball, not wanting to lose the smaller Pokemon and knowing Flora and Karrigan and Amber would be better for opinions, anyway.

"It's over here," she called over the roar of the other shoppers, making her way to Trendy Trainers, finding it to be not as crowded as she would've expected. The girl began to browse, frowning at some of the plainer but more practical choices. She had seen plenty of trainers who looked nice and wore things they were capable of running in... but why couldn't she? This store wasn't as trendy as she'd hoped. But as Amy continued onward, something caught her eye, something blue... She plucked the vest off the rack, a small smile blossoming.

She could work with this.

"I'll let you handle that one, then," Jade grinned, watching the rolling Bibarel chase the Golbat. Solaris watched with a faint interest, but began to groom herself once she found that the chase proved to be boring. Which, to a Pokemon like Solaris, was only after a few moments. Her trainer had the better attention span, sharp eyes watching the way the Golbat evaded. It was beginning to grow tired, its wings not beating as furiously as they had. Bibarel would land another hit soon, stronger, and it would be the end of the Poison/Flying-type.

She toyed with the Psyduck's Pokeball, a faint idea of a name budding in her mind as she thought about the Water-type. She hadn't even planned on getting herself a Water-type. But, she supposed she could just catch a Grass-type by the time they reached the forest ahead. The Golbat's last screech brought her from her thoughts, watching as Bibarel and Jake finished up their battle. She smirked coolly and strode forward, her Vulpix at her heels. Jade clapped her companion on the shoulder. "Nice job, cowboy. Now what do you say we get the hell out of this place? I don't like caves that much."

Karrigan decided that it would be better to not mention her dislike of elevators as Amy pressed the up button, and a short moment later the doors opened, revealing a small group of people. They didn't seem to pay much notice to the two younger girls as they passed by, and Karrigan shuffled the fox Pokemon in her arms, able to feel the beads of sweat starting to build up on her forehead. It wasn't overly warm in here, but carrying around a furry Fire-type sure seemed to make it feel that way. She glanced at Amy, and shook her head. "It's okay, I really don't mind. I should get at least one extra outfit for my bag, just in case something happens to this one." She couldn't understand why Amy seemed so embarrassed by her wanting to go clothes shopping, as having practical outfits seemed pretty important, at least to Karrigan. "We could check out the TM and HM store," she suggested thoughtfully. "I think a few of those could help to diversify some of my Pokemon's move pools." Amber yawned from boredom as the girls chattered, looking around dully as they arrived on their designated floor. A devious smirk appeared on her face as the other girl put the Tyrogue back into his Pokeball. The little barbarian couldn't be trusted in a nice place like this!

Amy led the way toward the store, and Karrigan followed, careful to step out of the way of other store patrons as they passed by. The store was significantly less crowded once inside, and Karrigan breathed a sigh of relief before setting her Vulpix down on the ground. Amy and Flora ventured off, so she chose to head for the accessories. Amber gazed distastefully at the rows of dumb-looking hats and handbags her trainer was checking, giving her head a fierce shake as Karrigan tried on a large, floppy sunhat with a purple ribbon. "No?" Karrigan asked, grinning a bit as she put the item back on its hook. Amber scoffed and looked around, quickly spotting a green scarf that looked a lot like the one Karrigan had previously ruined. It had silvery streaks weaved through the ends and the redhead picked it up. "Wow, this is pretty much what I was looking for," she said, smiling at the Vulpix. "Thanks, Amber, you have good taste." The fox preened at the comment, but quickly returned to being bored as her trainer moved on to check out other items, hoping they'd be done in this awful place soon enough.

Jake didn't answer Jade, he just grinned back and gave a slight nod in reply. "Okay Bibarel, whenever you're ready," he called, having realized that the Beaver Pokemon wasn't actively trying to slam into the Golbat, but was chasing it around, effectively tiring the thing out by keeping it on the run. Perhaps Bibarel had grown tired of her chase as well, for she gave a cry and used her momentum to roll up a curved section of the wall, and Jake watched with amusement as Bibarel sped through the air and crashed into the Golbat a final time, sending it flailing to the ground. It got to its feet and tried to fly off, but it was too weak to do so, so instead it started to hobble away. To add insult to injury, Bibarel reared back and let loose a powerful Water Gun that gave the bat a boost and sent it flying for real this time, and just like that the cavern was quiet again.

"Heh, nice one, Bibarel. You sure showed them," the blonde boy said, kneeling down to thank the Normal and Water-type for her efforts. Bibarel gave a toothy grin in reply, and Jake recalled her into her Pokeball, wanting to keep her in good health for the remainder of their trek. Jake nearly jumped a bit when Jade smacked his shoulder, but he recovered before it was really noticeable and gave a sheepish chuckle. "Ahaha, yeah, that was nothing. But yeah, let's get out of here before something else happens." He had the feeling that he wasn't really the 'fearless leader' sort, so it felt a little odd as he took the lead and lead them out of the cavern, which had consisted of only a few more turns and another set of stairs before they were greeted by bright sunlight. "Gah, it burns," he grumbled, shielding his eyes as they emerged from the cave's exit, glad to be done with that. "Well, that wasn't too bad. Think we can make it to the next town in one piece?" he said, obviously joking with the latter of the two statements. He was more than certain that they could handle anything that was thrown at them between now and Floaroma Town.

While most people probably would have thought that Mai was just showing off in front of Katie, this was not the case. Even if it had been only a single grunt greeting Mai by herself, she would have treated him the same way: each member of Team Rocket needed to respect the Admins and higher-ranked members, and as she had learned from her boss and mentor, Giovanni, nothing was a greater teacher than fear. "First, my office to collect the forms. Then, I'll get you a room of your own, since you'll probably be reporting back here quite often. You can fill out the paperwork and turn it in for the morning, since it is quite late. Get some sleep, and tomorrow your real role within Team Rocket shall begin. You'll get your very own uniform fitting, too," she added with a smirk, having noticed that Katie hadn't been impressed by the uniform. She'd started walking as she spoke, though she was not as confident in her stride as she would have been had they been back in the Viridian Base in Kanto. This old hotel would be a great base once they had it fully up and running, but for now it was all still very foreign to Mai. Most of the floors and rooms were still empty, save for a few suites up on the top floor, but those would be reserved for the top-ranked members. The biggest suite had already been partially set up for Giovanni, though it was unknown as to when he'd make his way here.

They headed down a fairly rickety old steel staircase and entered the building, which still smelled fairly stale and musty on the inside. Mai wrinkled her nose but sighed, but she said nothing and continued to lead the way. The elevator was in working condition so she pressed the call button, and it arrived a moment later. Inside, the mirrored windows were cracked and warped, but Mai ignored them. She quickly pressed a few buttons and the doors closed with a rattle, and then the elevator lurched downward. The vertigo feeling almost made Mai lose her footing but she caught herself, frowning because the repair team hadn't got to the elevators yet. She eyed Katie as the elevator came to a stop and let them off, and from there it was only a short walk to Mai's office. The grunt from before was just leaving, and he let out a little squeak before darting off in the other direction.

Mai entered her office, which could hardly be called as such, and took the brown folder from her desk before handing it to Katie. "Go back to the upper floors, pick a room. Don't even think about taking any of the suites on the top floor, as Giovanni wouldn't hesitate to have you thrown from the balcony. That folder better be back on my desk by 7:30 tomorrow morning, or I might have you thrown from a balcony. I'll meet you downstairs in the lobby at 8. Don't be late." Mai dismissed the girl with a wave of her hand, as she still had much to do before she could retire for the evening. Once Katie had left her office, she slammed the door behind the girl. Don't want her to think I'm going to go easy on her, Mai thought, slumping down in her chair. Her head was pounding and her feet ached, but it had been a relatively productive day so far. She just hoped that she hadn't made a mistake in hiring Katie, as she knew Giovanni didn't take failure too kindly and wouldn't have any issues throwing her off a balcony, as well.

((Pretty sure that initially the Sinnoh Rocket base was supposed to be in an old warehouse/office building, but old hotels are so much cooler. Discontinuity nod!))

The Scarecrow Pokemon was nothing like Miharu had ever seen before and she quickly scanned it over with her PokeDex. It was a Dark and Grass-type, which meant it was a good thing she'd kept Starrie out of this battle, and she looked up to her Pidgeot as the Cacturne planted its roots in the soft, grassy ground. It'd be virtually impossible for the Cacturne to move from that spot, so she gave the nod to Aska. "Use Fly," she called, watching with a small smile as the Bird Pokemon flew up, and out of sight. Lily, meanwhile, hadn't shifted her gaze away from the weakened Zangoose, and she glanced imploringly at her trainer for a command. When one wasn't given right away, she took matters into her own 'hands' and charged forward, a shimmer of energy encompassing her body. Lee had shouted for the Pokemon to dodge, but after its last attack, paralysis had once again taken hold of it and it was unable to do anything but be bowled over by the Ivysaur's powerful Double-Edge. The recoil caused Lily a bit of damage but she shrugged it off, glaring angrily at her opponent even as it collapsed with fatigue.

Now that he was down to his last two Pokemon, and rather quickly at that, Lee's outlook in the battle had changed significantly, and suddenly. Sure, he'd underestimated this girl, and he still had no idea what other Pokemon she had left in her roster, but he was impressed with the first four (the Ponyta, not so much as it was never a Pokemon that appealed to him) and he grinned as he recalled his Zangoose and released his last Pokemon. "I gotta say, you've got me backed into a corner," he chuckled as his Ariados made an appearance on the field. "You're not just a cutie, but you're also a very good trainer; have you considered taking the Johto Gym League challenge?" Of course he already knew the answer, otherwise the girl couldn't have had access to use of the Fly HM, but the smile that appeared on her face was the response he'd been looking for.

"As a matter of fact, yes," Miharu answered, feeling an unfamiliar heat rising to her cheeks. No one had ever called her 'cute' before, and she wasn't sure how to take the compliment, so instead she focused on the question. "I've won five badges so far, and we're training so we can challenge the Olivine City gym." In the meantime, Aska had completed her circuit in the air and now came speeding down toward the Cacturne like a missile. The Dark and Grass-type screeched out in pain from the attack, and both he and Lee knew that the Ingrained roots wouldn't be able to heal him fast enough. It was fast enough to lash out at the Pidgeot with a glowing, spiky fist, but Aska was faster, easily zipping out of the way. Lily was now staring down the Ariados with apprehension: she'd never really liked bugs, and this one was just plain... big. She once again took the initiative and charged forward with a Double-Edge, but the sassy little Ivysaur came up short as the agile spider nimbly hopped out of the way and in turn, shot out a thin line of silk that tangled up the Seed Pokemon's legs and sent her crashing to the ground.

Five badges, that explains a lot, Leroy thought, still smiling. "I'm sure you'll win your sixth with no trouble," he said, wincing a little from the hit his Cacturne had taken. He was also sure the Ivysaur was at a high experience level, high enough to have evolved to its final stage, but hadn't, and he was glad for that otherwise it would have ended up being a curb-stomp on his part. He pushed the long hair from his eyes and focused on the tripped-up Grass-type. "Ariados, Poison Jab," he called. The spidery Pokemon scurried forward, rearing back his two glowing forelegs before jabbing them sharply at Lily, who could do nothing to escape. The jabs did manage to break some of the thread and the Ivysaur got to her feet and darted away, even more wary of the Ariados than before. Lee smiled to himself; maybe this wasn't over quite yet.

"You say you don't care, but I get the feeling you'll be upset if I don't face the music." He said, sighing lightly as they paused outside the center. Her next statement though was clearly an attempt to push his buttons, and as much as he hated to admit it he had to slightly look away, a light smirk coming across his face. "Tch, when you say it like that it makes me sound like some kind of deviant. Heh, though I guess I am in a way or two...wonder how many times you've thought about a handsome man sneaking into your room late at night." He responded with s chuckle, very uncharacteristic of him but for one reason or another Riza made him more playful than he normally did. But all things aside, Riza had a point. He watched her stroll in and ask for a key, and while part of hims wanted to just sneak away knowing that she'd be more ok with that than letting him sleep outside, he shook his head and walked in after her. Worse case scenario he would be kicked out, he doubted it would cause a bigger uproar than that. He walked up to the counter, and turned to slightly hide from the Nurses gaze, asking for a room as well while she was getting Riza's key. It was so hard to tell the Joy's apart, but this Joy must have been different from the one there before because she didn't recognize him. Popping back up over the counter she smiled handing them both a key, and Crenu just nodded walking with Riza to the rooms. "Heh, lucky us." He said plainly approaching their rooms. Their rooms were across the hall from each other, and Crenu was about to say his farewell for the night. He turned to Riza and gave her a light hug, hoping they really could get over what happened earlier. "Guess this is good night...umm.." He let go of her, still holding her hands lightly, such soft hands, and looked down to the side slightly. "I know we managed to each get a room but...we can still share a room anyway. If you want." He said speaking softer than before, and he'd never admit it but he just might have gotten a little red for a few seconds. He didn't even know why he suggested such a thing, but thinking about what she said to him earlier just got his mind going in certain directions he wasn't use to.

"Eh? For real, I can have your number? That's so awesome! I promise I'll only use it if I really need your help, but man it's so cool to have the Champions number!" His eyes were practically glowing, this was such an honor! Taking down her number and giving her his in exchange, just in case, he was more eager than ever to go adventuring! "Thank you so much Cynthia, for letting me sketch your awesome Garchomp and get some practice against your super cool Lucario, and then Bronzor, you helped a lot. I'm glad I ran into you." he said with a big smile, the young boy suddenly coming in and giving Cynthia a hug before running off. "Bye!" He called back to her waving as he ran, dashing off in the direction of the mountain that towered over the land avoiding people left and right. The mountain still looked far off and he wasn't sure where to go to get there, but as long as he kept it in sight he knew he'd get there. Cool steel types, ancient mirrors and ruins, and a giant mountain with who knew what inside! This was gonna be great. "Heeheehee, Champions are such cool people." Jason missed having Zeus floating around but it was still to risky in this big city, so he would have to wait. As soon as they were clear of Jubelife it should be safe. So Jason ran northward, wanting to get out of the city and be one step closer to Mt. Cornet, though from the looks of it it would take some time, big as it was the mountain was clearly still some distance away. He wasn't gonna get there in a day that was for sure. Heck he wouldn't want to, not much of an adventure if you didn't take the time to admire and explore everything along the way.

"Ah? Que es esto? What's going on over there?" Carlos mused, watching as Raichu got hit. Sure, it was great to see his pokemon attack successfully, but it was still odd. Surge had definitely ordered to dodge, and while Javier was a quick one thie Raichu was clearly strong and could have done it for sure. But the odd thing here was that he didn't even look like he tried to dodge, like he was stuck in place. Odd thing to see an electric type get paralyzed, especially when he didn't take any hits. Truly Carlos was just as surprised as Surge, and a bit concerned for the pokemon. Javier looked on curiously, looking back at Carlos mustache twitching waiting for the next command. Carlos nodded, putting away the guitar for now. This was still a battle, and Carlos couldn't pass up the opportunity. This was the one, having hit a fourth time in a row, this next Fury Cutter was going to have doubled in power for the fifth time reaching it's pinnacle of power. "Cortefuria, terminalo!" Endign this quick was best for the both of them, the Mega Kick had smashed Javier up bad and he was nearly done himself, and with the match over Surge could get a better look at Raichu. Ending it early for that purpose wasn't a bad idea either, but a big tough guy like Surge would never want something like that it was clear to the poncho wearing trainer. Javier hissed eagerly, rubbing his arm scythes together as they charged with energy. They glowed almost golden in color, looking larger than before and sharper than the thinnest blade. Javier burst forward arms at the ready, slashing at Raichu again when he got close, this was the moment of truth!

Amy appraised the blue vest she had discovered, showing it to Flora, who nodded in appreciation. After deciding Amy would get it, the pair began to search for things that matched, things that were practical (Amy tore herself away from another sundress, yellow this time, with a small ache in her heart). Eventually, they had managed to collect a simple white shirt, some shorts, some leggings, and pair of boots that went nicely with the vest. Amy waved to Karrigan across the store, watching the redhead as she and her fox searched for scarves, and headed into the dressing rooms to try everything on.

She expected the clothes to feel different as she tried them on--scratchy or too loose or too tight, too uncomfortable, too different. But as she donned her new outfit, each piece seemed more complete. Amy stood before the mirror in brand new clothes, bag slung over her shoulder, Pokeballs faintly rattling within. She stared at herself. I look different, she thought faintly, fingers loosening their frightful grip on the strap of her bag. I don't look as scared anymore. Days (had it been days? it seemed so long ago now, and now she was an entire region away from her mother, from Scarlet, from home) ago and she was nervous, too afraid to fight, too plain to get any attention, too meek to demand any. But now, there was something new in her eyes. Amy grinned at herself.

She carefully took off her clothes, folding them and putting on the dirtied red dress hung up, already disliking the feel of it. Amy slipped out of the dressing rooms and made a beeline for the counter, snagging a belt on the way there. I can't wait to wear it, she thought as she paid for her outfit. She thanked the man at the counter politely and glanced around for Karrigan, flashing her another quick smile before holding up one finger, heading from the store. The brown-haired girl scanned the crowded area, intent on finding a bathroom, before she finally caught sight of the women's sign. This time, there was hardly any ceremony in changing her clothes, just slipping from one to the next and clipping on her belt, attaching the three Pokeballs to it. Shouldering her bag again, Amy left the bathroom, hastening back to the store and finding her redheaded companion again.

"Sorry," Amy said breathlessly, unable to wipe the smile from her face. "I just--I really liked it, and I couldn't wait to wear it." She paused for a moment, still smiling, Flora returning to her side, before noticing the scarf Karrigan held. "Ooh, I really like that." She adjusted her bag again and her more reserved smile returned. "Are you ready? Now that I think about it, the TM and HM shop sounds really interesting."

"I dunno, I figure we might be in trouble. It's a long way," Jade drawled, squinting a little in the sunlight but refusing to shield her eyes. She liked it much better out here, on a nice day like this. The raven-haired girl cast a glance over her shoulder at the route behind him, noting that the blonde woman seemed to have left. That, or she was simply out of sight now. Leave it alone, she chided herself, continuing on forward as a lazy breeze drifted through the grass. Solaris was intent on finding any sort of hidden enemies laying in wait, the fox's sharp little eyes flickering between each shadow in the grass.

"Oh," the girl said lightly, bringing out her second Pokeball. "I figure there's someone you ought to meet." She tossed it into the air, the sphere opening in mid-arc with Jade's cry of, "Come on out, Aquarius!" The Psyduck in question flailed a little before he fell, quite ungracefully, to the path before Jake. He scrambled up to his feet and looked around, blinking furiously at the sunlight. Solaris narrowed her eyes at him, but Jade merely grinned. "He seems a little skittish, but I figure that after a little bit with me, he'll be fierce and battle ready as ever. Glad there was something good to come out of that tumble down the stairs, huh?"

Nothing made Scarlet more sad than the constant sound of ’Dude and “Mud Slap!”. Variety is what made battle fun! A single species team that excelled at throwing rocks seemed to make for a dull team, and battles with the exact same single species team? It was all the redhead could do not to shake his head and let out a giant sigh of disappointment. Luckily, swooping zubat blindly at his skull sort of distracted him. Not to mention the fireballs zipping past his head as his precious Quilava tried sniping said zubat out of the sky.

It’d never be too soon before he got out, he decided, scooping a whining Cindy off the ground and holding her under his arm to prevent her from burning off his hair. As much as he loved fire types, none of his many goals included pulling off a realistic cosplay of the Lord of the Dead.

Oh man, why are there so many of these things? You’d think the geodude would keep them in line… Resistant to poison, resistant to flying, and a lot more stuff. Sure, they’re weird, but-

The trainer had started letting his mind wander off to utterly unimportant places while his flaming ferret just hung there pouting. Then Jett used what had started to become his signature technique, breaking the silence. It snapped Scarlet out of his little trance. He glanced over at the apparently nervous Jett, blinking slowly in confusion. Scarlet was hoping that maybe his travelling buddy would be more relaxed by now. Maybe hanging around him and Jasper would fix it.

Scarlet’s gaze fell of Jasper as he spoke up. Hoenn and Sinnoh? Scarlet didn’t know much about them, but he had heard way more interesting legends about some of their pokemon. But for now, it seemed that Jasper was enjoying Johto enough for a while.

“I’m not really looking to head anywhere in particular right now. I’ve gotta go literally everywhere to get my job done anyway, so…” He shrugged, furrowing his eyebrows to think of a more substantial answer. “But my dad did tell me about this cool place in Unova with robot ghosts. I would not mind grabbing a robot ghost. It’s some sort of dragontower or something, I think. So I could do that. What about you, Jett?”

Jett found that conversation made the cavern seem less endless, if only for their voices to fill up the empty space. He seemed to calm a little as they began to chat, no longer worrying over Pokemon hidden in the dark. A trainer on his own, afraid of running into wild Pokemon, he thought a little sadly. My brothers wouldn't be afraid of wild Pokemon. They'd say it was another part of the challenge, another part of the adventure to enjoy. They would hate him for trying to get out of this cave as quickly as possible.

"Unova," he repeated under his breath, wondering why he had never heard the word before. Jett frowned thoughtfully, having traveled a lot with his family when he was younger. "Well, when I was little, my family used to move a lot between Kanto, Johto, and Hoenn, so I sort of know those regions." He didn't really, just vague memories, recollections of which sibling left at which town. Nothing mattered until Petalburg, until River. "But I would love to check out Sinnoh or... Unova, you said?" He smiled a little. "I've never heard of that one. But your dad's a professor, right? He must be way ahead of things."

"I think--" Jett stopped when he noticed that the cries of the hikers' various Geodude began to grow fainter and everything around them grew lighter. The raven-haired boy looked about before he caught sight of it: light spilling from a mouth of the cave. He grinned. "Look, there it is! We made it!" He resisted making an outright break for it, but his pace quickened some, eager to get out of the dank darkness of yet another cave. "We made it," he repeated softly, a small smile on his face as they crossed back outside, the sunlight much less brighter than it had been once they went in. How long had they been in there? Jett shielded his eyes nonetheless and glanced around, seeing some buildings in the faint distance. Azalea Town was so close, it seemed. He grinned at his companions and ignored the way his legs started to ache from all that walking. He would get used to it, eventually.
