((OOC: I cut my hair this afternoon. It used to go almost to my waist and now it's to my shoulders. I feel so much lighter. I've also just realized (almost twenty-five pages later... xd ) that I left my character without a last name. I'll have to fix that.))

Tekira nodded uncertainly. She thought she knew.
"Aer..." she began, haltingly. "What are you going to do once you become Wraith?"
The unspoken question beneath it was What will happen afterwards?
She wanted to stay with him, but she wasn't quite to the point of saying so yet.

Aer hesitated, then shrugged. "I don't know... I have a year left to figure that out, I suppose." He looked at Tekira for a few seconds, then looked away. "I want to know what my father is planning," he said finally. "Right now, that's what is weighing heaviest on my mind."

Satsujin nodded. "It's more or less on my way," she said. "Then that's that. On we go. But first..." She knelt by the water again and filled up her canteen. Unfolding a waterskin that had been in her back pocket, she filled that up as well, and tied both of them to her waist.

"Now on we go. Er, you might want to refill that canteen. I kind of... drained it."

((*wonders where on Vretoaz Bard has gone*))

Aer turned to face the ship, frowning. "I suppose," Aer said, "but even if he is gone, I doubt he's given up on whatever he is planning. My father is not so easily turned away. He's like a cockroach," Aer muttered, shuddering.

"So much I don't yet understand fully," he sighed. "I suppose there's a demon in that box for every occasion, but that seems like cheating. More importantly, I've been lucky so far, but I'm not eager to chance upon the one demon that will consider everything I do as helping someone else, and want to exact a price for everything I ask of him." Aer sighed.

"I suppose it's some sort of bloody test," he growled. "The box, my father... After all, Wraith serves a goddess, doesn't he? Don't you think a bloody goddess would be able to arrange these tests of fate? Probably wants to see if I'm bloody worthy. Wants to see if I'll only use my Hearrte for selfish gain, wants to see if I'll turn to the demons in that box for every little problem, wants to see if I'm good enough to be Wraith. Bloody test, I'll bet that's what it all is, a bloody test." He clenched and unclenched his fists, and finally flopped back into the sand.

Janika just simply sqwatted there staring at Aer with worry in her eyes.

(is sqwatting the right term? Almost sitting, but not actually sitting? Oh. And sorry. I'm not really good at writing stories like this. My brain has a hole in it. All my ideas drained out. xd )

Tekira sat on Aer's other side. "Maybe you shouldn't worry so much." she retorted promptly. "Your father...well, what will happen will happen, and worrying about it beforehand will change nothing. And as to the test..." she smiled faintly. "I doubt you were planning to turn to the box for every little thing, and if I'm right, why worry about it?"

((OOC: 'Squatting' is the correct term, but it's spelled with a 'u' where you've put the 'w'.))

Tekira laughed and took Aer's hand in an entirely natural movement. "Come on, let's go see if he's still on the ship!" she said, tilting her head towards the ship.

Tekira tapped on the hull of the ship. "Wraith, are you in there?"
Getting no response, she frowned. "Hmm. How do we get in?"
