Layna sighed softly, murmuring in her sleep. She was comfortable, knowing there was no more pain, no more panic. She dreamed of her son and Ceon, sitting together in the sunshine playing games in the grass. But the good did not last. Darkness crawled across her dream, sucking it away. She reached out, but the slowness of dreams stopped her from reaching them. No! She screamed. A dark voice invaded. Fear for your child. When he starts to die my sight will come back... Layna's sleeping form was still, even though she screamed in her dream. Nothing looked amiss.

Ceon picked her up and carried her to the bed, she was much lighter now, and he was grateful for that. He was about to crawl into bed when he heard Gabriel crying.

Layna's eyes snapped open, her grey eyes dark with sudden alertness. She slowly sat up, blinking at Ceon's form, and then the doorway across from theirs. "He...is crying..." She murmured, her voice still garbled with sleep.

Ceon rubbed his eyes as he made his way to the door, "I'll get it." Ceon came back into the room with Gabriel in his arms and sat down on the bed, stroking Gabriel's hair and trying to make Gabriel close his tired eyes.

Layna sighed, sinking back into the pillows. Her eyes wouldn't close now, the images burned harshly against the dark. "What is it..." She murmured, not asking a question to anyone, but wondering upon herself.

"I think he just had a nightmare is all." Ceon put Gabriel near Layna and Gabriel moved his hand out towards Layna's ear.

Layna turned her head, and took Gabriel's little hand within hers. He gurgled happily, his wide grey eyes delighted. "He'll be a strong little wolf." She said with a slight smile, her eyes warm. As if in response to what she said, the little child suddenly shifted into a grey and black wolf pup. Layna laughed outright as Gabriel licked at her face, his tail wagging wildly. He then looked at his father, his front paws going out in front of him as he growled playfully.

Ceon turned to a lycan and growled playfully he moved his fingers around Gabriel's head and smile as Gabriel leaped up to bite them.

Layna couldn't help but laugh hard at this. She watched the two play, and sighed, a smile on her face. "You two are so ridiculous..." She murmured, watching as Gabriel snapped at his father's thumb, before he latched on.

Ceon turned to a human and so did Gabriel, who's small teeth retracted into his gums and he started to suck on Ceon's thumb. Ceon looked up at Layna and smirked. "We make great parents."

Layna sighed, a smile gentle upon her lips. "Of course, Ceon. Though... you've had more experience in that branch than I do." She assessed. It was clear in the way she acted at the moment, that she was indignant on the issue. Her first son, her first flesh and blood. She wouldn't ever be alone again. That made her smile with happiness.

Gabriel slowly let go of Ceon's thumb as he fell asleep on one of the pillows. A flash of worry crossed his mind. What if he went berserk around Gabriel, he would be endangering his son and Layna. His eyes started to turn dull grey. "I..I think I need to go outside." said Ceon as he started to head for the door.

"Ceon?" Layna said, sitting up once again. Her eyes were filled with worry. She quickly stood, and grabbed Ceon's hand. "Ceon?" She repeated softly. Why was he leaving all of a sudden. Had she done something? She wondered.

Ceon spun around to gface her, his pupils slowly dissapearing into large pools of grey. "Love, I need to go." Ceon wrenched his hand away from her and ran out the door.

Layna watched him go, tears pricking at her eyes. She turned away from the door, and went back to the bedroom. Gabriel seemed to sense her distress, for he began to whimper and cry out, his hands clutching at the air. Layna wrapped her arms around her son, and pulled him to her. He gurgled with content as he snuggled against his mother's warmth. Layna's eyes burned as tears trickled down her cheeks, unwanted. She hummed softly, trying to comfort both herself and Gabriel. Unanswered questions sat on the tip of her tongue, waiting to be asked.
