Meh, simply a suggestion. No IC thread gets as much attention as the stadium, just seemed like a good idea at the time.

Sorry bout this... But I couldn't resist posting this... I just ask that people watch it, and think about the things that are said in it. Even minus the God references, the things said make sense... I know not many of you will watch it, but I suggest that you please do...

Organization is the key. I feel that for a stadium, things are pretty much run amuck like street fighting.

I propose that in the stadium, things are treated in an organized way. As if it was boxing or wrestling. This way Kraun's ranking system can tie in to what we do storywise. (In the arena at least). Then we can realize rewards story/stadium wise and not just OOC.

Events would roll off properly as well. Fighting is a spectator sport right? So, we could set up a few cards (for those of you not familiar with the term, by card I mean days when the stadium is open for the day/night's event for the public to view. A few announced fights happen, characters interact backstage, eat, watch, sing, entertain the crowd, go the hell home.)

Why like this? So it can tie in more to people's stories and lives. Somewhat.

Then we have all of these places outside the stadium where anything even remotely social can take place.

So people can go the hell home and not be in the stadium 24/7 which makes little sense. Because I'm sure your characters have lives outside the stadium. Or at least I hope they do.

I mean we have face characters (fan favorites) and heel characters (fan hated) so we might as well.

Basically, all I'm saying is, we should probably start treating what we do in this place like the spectator sport that it is. And spectator sports are organized.

Then we can really see who is the world champion (me). Maybe we could have champions for other divisions.

I suppose you would wonder, what about people's characters who have insane destructive powers and guns! Well there is one thing I want to say about this..

Well I propose the stadium should look something like this....

http://nekoken.belouve.org/images/19.jpg

Pay attention to how there's a platform for fighting in the middle and a giant space from the edges to where the stands are. There.

Now as for guns, wtf are guns doing in a place for melee combat?! Unless you are there to assassinate someone, or you're a security guard, or you are a police officer doing a surprise bust... you shouldn't have one on you.

On matters concerning things like Kraun drowning everyone in blood and Maximos wanting to kill everyone he sees.. well in KOF '96 Goenitz was the boss, and he was evil, and he killed a lot of spectators in the stands and destroyed the stadium that KOF took place in with his wind power. So it is perfectly fine. I don't think my idea would limit powers in any way.

As for those of you who want no ability/power fights. You'll have to learn to step your game up or something. The only thing I really have a problem with is things like... staying in the air and flying... while I certainly don't mind the fantasy aspect of roleplaying... please... it's a fighting arena. I've only encountered this once in my RP-ing career and it was the most annoying thing ever having someone stay in the sky.

We should implement a battle system or rules also for this... organized fighting that I propose. Perhaps that would fix certain things...

Anyway... that is my proposition.

If you have any more questions, I will be happy to answer them.
Because it at least means you're interested/thinking about it.

Good idea, Reiko, but I'm assuming that picture is of the pit only? 'Cuase the stadiums large enough to hold a small town, if I remember correctly. 3nodding Otherwise, your idea's good.

Have a fight roster... people are scheduled to fight a certain person and so on. Match requests can be made, but at the start of each week/month someone pulls together a list of fights that will take place with matchups based upon rank, and... well... stuff.

Ahhh do you see how big that thing is? take an imaginary pencil, and put one dot anywhere in the stands...

that is one person.

anyway I only used that picture as an example to show what the fighting area should be like. Yes, the pit, whatever you wanna call it.

Yes. Or we can shake up the box a little and have the stars fight jobbers. Every now and then.

It would take a lot of thought because we'd have to take into consideration some people's schedules.

Or everything could be tournament wise...

Tournament
Break time
Tournament
Break time
Tournament
Break time

During tournament.
1st round of tournament fights happen, interaction, possible character development

to whatever round, etc. ditto.

Finals, conclusion, champion(s) crowned.

Then there is a moment of calm before the next dramatic tournament unfolds.

during this moment of calm... anything can take place, anywhere because it is the characters roaming wherever doing whatever with their lives..

maybe rivalries/friendships/relationships/evil plots form within this time.. and set the stage for the next tournament...

blah blah blah.

Well... all right.

I have, all the write ups that Josh did, they can be seen in this very thread, page before this one I think.

And then Reiko's ideas.

Both very good, as as can be seen by the poll, people WANT change.

So, I think its time we start putting some s**t together.

I'll start going over what Josh has, implenting all the hard work he's done to bring to fruitation his, mine and jays ideas.

I will aslo go about putting in Reiko's ideas as well.

A fusion if you will.

NOW, if you wanna help me with this, Reiko, take a look at everything, and I mean everything that Josh wrote, and giv me your opinion on it all.

You'll see that the problem of fighters staying 24/7 in astadium is solved, the village and all, and maybe you can give me a gist on how your own ideas can then be amended to be implented in with what Josh worked his a** off to write out.

Rebuilding is gonna be annoying and may take a long time, or a short time, depending on how we can go about this.

This has probably already been suggested but...

I suggest we set up a network of committees to spread the work load.

We could have a committee to deal with specific areas that need to be dealt with like: public relations, IC events (festival, tournaments, this could actually be divided into several smaller committees), etc. Then we could have one main committee (Most likely the mods or the head of each smaller committee).

Yeah... anywho... that was my idea...

Well, Jello has done good work, I have absolutely no complaints.

I would like to think the Durem thread should be deleted and remade or another city thread created in its place to the fullest potential. Since the village is third world-ish, there would also have to be something closer to the modern world. Unless we're all poor for whatever reason.

What I'm trying to think in my head, is of places that will almost always have activity. So they don't easily become dead threads. It seems as though the forest has been the best if not the only one that seems to be able to stand next to the IC thread when it comes to reoccuring activity. Unless I haven't been reading.

So I guess we can stick with what Jello has. If it works out well, then we can either keep it, or expand upon it. If something slips, we can rethink it. Personally, I think Wenn's grave will be a huge point of interest for a lot of people's characters. Especially mine, Reiko. So that was an extremely good idea to have that.

As for my ideas falling into this. Let's see. It depends. If it went..

Tournament - Recess - Tournament - Recess - etc. (A la K1 Fighting, Or any martial arts tournament.. but I was thinking KOF if you're wondering)

And everything revolved around the characters and their place in the tournament... Then there's nothing really too complex about it. They fight and interact during tournament time in the stadium... then after tournament's over, they leave the stadium until the next one is formed.

*note. I'm not saying that during tournament time that they are barred to the stadium. I'm just saying that most of the activity will take place in the stadium and they have to show up for their fight. And vice versa for when there is no tournament.

During the time when there is not a tournament, they roam around in the other areas that Jello has written up and interact.

The same would probably occur if we set it up like Boxing, or UFC, or wrestling. Some fighting entertainment occurs that night... then everyone shuts up and goes home, leaving the stadium if they want. It's recommended that they do though.

And interact in the places Jello described. The idea is to show a more realistic side of everyone's characters.

On another note, taking into consideration the powers, strenghts, and mental statuses of some characters here... the Boxing/Wrestling/UFC wouldn't work probably. I dunno. I envision someone trying to destroy the stadium every night. But that's just me.

So, that's what I think.. and how my ideas might fall into it. Anything to make it look like a spectator sport, and boot people out the stadium to go live life.

...eh... Ed, you're making it sound like I did anything more than waste time with how long I spent on those. xp

I'll admit that they're nice writeups if yoiu admit that I spent like 40x too long in getting them to you. sweatdrop

I like to think of it sort of in districts...

Village: Encompasses the Kyonuske clan and the fighters who frequent the stadium. Very third-worldish, most likely, except for probably one large 4 star hotel for fighters and important guests/patrons. Basically, the bare bones of civilization, and rightly so since fighters don't necessarilly need flashing lights and stuff if they spend most of their time training or such.

Durem: Industrial, business, a very 'downtown' atmosphere, with tall buildings and corporation headquarters... likely a lot of bars, shops, and places like that intermixed with it all. Not much residence other than appartment complexes.

Gambino: Fat-cat island... where the rich people bask in the sun all day. Not much here for a person without a fat wallet. Casinos, villas, and hotels.

Barton: Towny town. Not quite downtown, not quite suburbs, but you know what I'm getting at. A little of everything.

Mainly... it boils down to more that the stadium is used for 'match fights'. Sparring can be done outside, in any of the other areas. The main ring would be used for events, scheuled matches and the like. People crowd in at a few points durring the day to watch a match or two and then go home or to their hotels to come back on another day. That way it's not so much like two people can just walk in there and start fighting, and we don't have to worry about things like 'unsanctioned matches' and all of those rules. If people start fighting and they're not in a match, the security deals with them. If they're not on stadium property when it happens, then security doesn't give two shits unless their fight could cause damage to the village or such.

Sure, the place can be left open 24/7, not like it closes, but the general idea is to make it operate a little more like a stadium and less like an empty lot where gangs go to rumble and people watch from their windows across the street...

Yeah... for those 'kaboom-tastic' fights, it'd probably best to boot them up to the sky ring, and use high-tech hover-cameras or something to project the fight on bigscreen monitors above the main arena... that way any fireballs or something that might miss their intended target won't roast some spectators...

We could also, for this purpose, then construct a bowl-like structure beneath the actual sky ring, so that if someone is thrown off they land in there and slide down to the lowest point, other than like... falling to their deaths. That way we can play with a 'ring out' rule, too. 'course, we could also remove said 'safety net' if we felt the need to do 'sudden death' fights. razz

I like your ideas. I think this place could use a little organization 3nodding So long as we can still do the normal RPing and a few open fights and events.
