kewl a fellow autism mom ^_^ mentor me ? ~hugs~

um... well, i'm just trying to muddle my way through. I hardly consider myself to be worthy of mentoring anyone. to be honest.. i'm sure there is a lot more i could do.. if i could manage to curb my need for the internet a little... but, I am also operating with my obsessive compulsive disorders. so.. i tend to be rather addictive to a lot of stuff. usually either going grocery shopping or an outing to take naaman to play at the mall will get me off tho. or a new anime on the on demand.. but nothing new's been on lately that we want to watch.

Graceangel........i cannot believe those women have the nerve to make you feel that way! how dare they? that's horrible.......it sounds like you're doing a wonderful job with Naaman though if he's having a breakthough! i'll have to look into getting flashcards when ben gets older.......right now i read to him, everday because he's only 5.5 mos old......have you looked into possibly getting another speech therapist for him? once agian, congrats on the breakthroughs! *hugz ya* i know how meaningful they are......with ben having down syndrome he's suprising me so much with what great muscle tone he has........and the doctors told me when he was born not to expect a lot from him....so i'm very happy he's doing ok! my mother's cousin has a son that has autism, and he's the same age as me.....he goes to college even, and he was a sweet guy when i met him a few times.....the sing a longs i'll have to look into getting eventually.....i just can't sing redface .......but he won't mind..........about the cups with the straws, i've been told by his occupational therapist that those will help with the mouth for them to talk, and it for ben it will help him keep his tongue in his mouth, his tongue is a little too big for his mouth and he's always sticking it out.....and we will be starting that soon, not sure when exactly.......once agian, i'm happy to hear about the breakthoughs and congrats on him repeating....how wonderful 3nodding

hi Dragoon and welcome....must be pretty hard that your brother has cp, i cannot imagine how difficult it would be for him at times.....once agian, welcome! whee

Thanks! It's not easy with someone in your family with CP I did a presentation on people with disabilites. I actually failed the courswork (Don't ask how.) But I passed the presentation. I can do the coursework again. But I did so well...I talked about my brother and how it was so hard for him.

But people really understood. And that ia what I love. Oh and call me Arc yeah? The Dragoon is just part of the name, or even call me mandy. (My real name is Amanda you see.)

yuna, naaman isn't down syndrome, but forever he always had his tongue hanging out. i mean.. he just couldn't use a pacifier because he was always pushing it out with his tongue. don't know why he did it a lot.. but he was that way.. only over the last year or so he's really stopped doing it... but now he does liek to lick his lips a lot. hehehehe...

and, we're working on pointing. one of their goals for him is to make his needs or wants known by at least one word... and the middle point range was making them known by pointing and not grunting... so, even just things like making him point to stuff in a book.. is good. I feel that is him demonstrating that even if he's not verbalizing.. he is understanding what i'm saying to him. and that part is good.

Eric will be fine...believe me, he may be little now but when he grows up he will become something so strong. My brother is kool, he is just going out as a matter of fact heh.

I would love to meet your boy but I live in England...which is a shame. Send him my love though.

Eric will be okay, he's a very cute little boy!

CP is hard, but definately well worth all the things. My BIL and I get along so well. He really looks up to my husband (his big brother). He has a limp and they almost gave him corrective shoes, but his physical therapy ended up working out. He's a really great guy, even if we didn't get along at first!

Yeah that's the same with my brother he has to wear kids sized clothes but he is a little shorter than me...but he seems leggy. He's about 5 foot, about 5 foot 3 or so. But it's hard to get him clothes...heh. He have to get his shoes custom made because he has size 2 feet but they are really turned out bless him.

Is Eric's dad tall? If so he may be taking after him, Phill took after my mum just like I did. But he is skinny like my dad. I have to admit Eric is so cute..he looks like a boy I used to work with....His name was Jay he came from America bless him.
But can you still lift him? My brother is such a dead weight, I aint being nasty but he is....he is so heavy. I've broken my wrist from lifting him and that was about three weeks ago.

Heh, I send Eric kisses and your whole family. heart

some interesting news... I attended a conference on potty training for special needs kids tonight... I have this eight page guide with lots of step by step stages and directions for each stage on how to go about it.. and this lady specializes in mental health adn psychological disorders.. and works with a lot of parents needing potty training. Since naaman has next week off of school, I"m gonna get started running him through it.
