((*sighs* read my lips - T-o-m-o-r-r-o-w.))

John looked up from where he had been crouching in his cell. His arms, bound by the chains and the sealed lock, looked fairly secure in front of him - but, looking at the chains strewn around him, it only looked like it had been the lucky one.

"G'day." He muttered, standing. "I'm not in the greatest of moods right now, so if you wanna make this quick, i'll get back to trying to sleep."

He didn't look sleepy - bored was more like it, as he moved forward into the light to look down at the smaller man through the bars.

"Tch. Twitch..."

A groan, and he'd found himself walking back outside of the city walls, beside Twitch and Wolfgang. "I suppose I have time for that now... the thing with the medium. Do you think you can help me out, or is there something else you need to do?"

Twitch shook her head, holding up her right hand. "That thing with the medium? Do you even know what all of this means? You can't call it something as insignificant as that. Having a Medium created for you is no small feat. It takes the knowledge of what the Esterian characters are, the ability to correctly sculpt and translate them, much less use them."

She folded her arms under her breasts, flicking her head so that her purple bangs would stay out of her eyes. "If you can't even tell me the proper name for the rite, then you're nowhere near ready."
PostPosted: Mon Jul 11, 2005 9:21 pm

Laz looked taken aback. "I... didn't know there was a proper name for it. In any book I'd read, it was just referred to as 'the aquisition of a medium to regulate the forces of gaia's spirit with one's own' or something lengthy and complicated like that. What's the real name for it, then?"

And then he frowned. "And I kinda realize that I'm not going to reach the power of a fullblood, but my power's peaking. Aura and Element Techniques are all I can do. You've been with me in the Arctic Arena, you know how hard I've been working for this. I'm not asking for special treatment, just for you to be a little fair. I'll need more power for more Techniques, and if I plan on creating one of the more powerful Aura and Element Techs, I'll need more.

"And then, there's Final Techniques. I'm... probably not near that point yet, if I can't pull a great Aura or Element. So give me the ability to get there. That's all I've ever wanted."

She sighed and lowered her head. She seemed to be thinking, before she lifted her eyes to Lazenca and walked forward. It looked like she wanted to walk through him, but stopped when there was less than a foot of space between their two bodies.

"I think that name you gave will suffice. There's no proper name, but at least I know for sure that you're reading on your own." Her arms went down to her side, then she reached for his hands. She interdigitaded with him, all while keeping her eyes locked with his.

"This is going to sting."

Her nails pressed down, locking their hands together in such a way that he would be very badly scratched if he attempted to move away. Twitch took a deep breath, then started whispering something to herself. Lazenca could hear her, but unless he had bothered to try and translate the old Esterian texts and languages. It was something that only scholars dedicated to unraveling the past, survivors of old Esteria, and dieties and devils could understand, at this point. From her hands flowed a power- a burning, searing energy that would snake its way underneath Lazenca's nails and into his hair follicles. From there, the power would make itself visible in blackness. Veins drawn from the cuticles of his claws connected to the back of his palm to create the first Esterian word. It would look like a series of squiggled lines at first glance.

Any attempt to pull away during this, and Laz would find that Twitch was firm. It was as if he were attatched to a stone figurine, rooted deeply in the earth and completely immobile.

Though he was no stranger to some pain- fighting once in a while made the body able to tolerate more and more stress, and he recently had his wrist crushed, which was some nice stress- he wasn't exactly in the mood to take some in. He was clearly suprised when Twitch clamped down on him, and pulled back his hand, but she seemed to have in some death grip. The sensation was gradual... numbness, the stinging of a thousand needles. It was as if his hands had fallen asleep, and his arms were now waking up.

But one knows that sometimes, there's pain with this sensation, and that pain came. But it was more than that of blood moving again, it was as if his hairs were being pulled out, and his fingernails pulled off. And that hurt. Enough to make him snarl and yank even harder, which then had the back of his hand scratched by Twitch's nails, though he went nowhere.

"Let my damn hands go, woman!"

"And what will you do? I'm already dead enough, hon." On that, her fingers opened and he was released. With all of his yanking, he would probably fall back. She didn't seem concerned with what happened.

"Don't scratch your wrist for a few minutes... let it bleed. That's what you get for resisting. I told you, you weren't ready for this... but not many get the mediums on their body. Anyway..." She shifted her weight to her left side, putting her left hand on the same hip and pointing at one of his hands with her right index. "That'll start you off. They're both limiters and doors- you have to reach the level set by those words before you can get stronger. The markings will change when you do get stronger. They aren't removable at all, so... there you go. Figure out the puzzle, and you'll be stronger. Just don't get mad if you peak early again. We can't all be gods and goddesses. There's got to be some people to fear us... that'd be you."

She looked up at the sky, then unlocked her wings. "I'm going to go for now. Tell Louve I said goodbye or whatever, alright?" She touched the unusually silent Wolfgang on the back, then spread her wings. A second later, they were out of sight.

Tomorrow
((*sighs* read my lips - T-o-m-o-r-r-o-w.))

John looked up from where he had been crouching in his cell. His arms, bound by the chains and the sealed lock, looked fairly secure in front of him - but, looking at the chains strewn around him, it only looked like it had been the lucky one.

((Gahhh sorry sorry, that always got me :snickers smile )

"Of course you aren't. Wouldn't expect you to be behind these." There was a quick tinking sound as Henry wrapped the bars with a knuckle. He leaned against them easily and crossed his arms, staring around at the other cells. "Basically I'm here to get you out. I'm not a lawyer so don't give me that look. I'm part of Shield, but I'm not, my agenda is my own and no one elses...s'just that I have the authority to do something like this." The door of the cell suddenly unlocked and opened of it's own accord.

"Now, I don't propose to tell you what was right or what was wrong about your actions, so you can keep your opinions about Shield to yourself. I'm here to recruit you into finding something for me, with me, and it's up to you whether you'd like to accept something that will most probably be dangerous." He shrugged. "Actually it's bad enough that I wouldn't blame you if you just wanted to stay in that cell and serve out your sentence, and I'm not saying that just because you might not get along with my sparkling personality..." There was a flash of a grin at this. "I can't tell you anymore then that unless you accept I'm afraid. I don't want to waste yours or my time by sitting around here discussing the in's and out's of how your gonna pay off getting that big body of yours out of that cell."

John frowned as he looked down at the man, the barrier between them now gone. The man - another Sheild who didn't like to introduce himself - seemed as uppity as the rest of them. Except...soemthing he couldn't quite put his finger on. A jovility that the rest didn't exhibit...or kept tucked away, like the pretty little cop.

"Sheilds...i can stand." John muttered, looking away for a moment before looking down to the man once more. "...But Spears annoy me."

He crossed his arms over his broad chest as he looked down at the man again, as if apprasing him. John would just as easily allow the justice system to run it's course...but...that was a lengthy process, and already he was missing his family and Juuni...if he busted out, there would be one hell of a shitstorm, and if he was sent to prison, gods know what might happen to him if he was let loose in a complex filled with murderers, rapists, *****, and worse - if there were such a being...

"...It's all so sudden. But the circumstances demand speed." He held up his hand, counting off his fingers. "One - if you want my help, i do things my way and no other. Two, i use my own equipment and no other. Three, if you cant follow my orders, then dont bother coming, if you are coming. Four, I want a full pardon on all my crimes and a get-out-of-jail free card if a Spear decides to stumble in the street and meet one of my fists in the process. And Five - either you tell me who you're working for, or i dont go. I dont like being kept in the dark, it's annoying."

His ultimatums delivered, he crossed his arms again and looked away for a second - before sighing. "...Four and five are optional. If i find whatever it is you want, i want you to consider them to the full extent that they can be considered - understand?"

The contradictions showed one thing - he hated being pushed around. He didn't like not knowing what was going to happen. It was...unsettling.

He stood there and waited for the man to respond. Even if he said no, John eyed him up and down - he didn't look that tough. After that, it was a police department full of Sheilds and Spears, followed by a quick trip out of the large port-side city, possibly being chased the entire way, property damage rising high on the agenda...

Piece of cake...jammed down his throat.

Laughter filled the dark inner sanctum of the holding cells, making a few of the prisoners look up, before going back to whatever. It wasn't a mean, harsh sound of someone mocking another person, but a warm appraisal of the situation.

"Good man Mr. Tomorrow. You have every right to a few of those demands. Let me see if I can answer most of them here.

Yes, you can do things your way, as long as you respect my need to do mine, I promise that neither of these ways will divert enough to distract or break any situation that you feel in control of.

I wouldn't really expect you to use any other equiptment other then your own, although you have every chance to use my skills as well, should you require them.

I am comming, whether you are aware of me following or not is your choice, but, like everyone, I have my own agenda to adhere to, I know that's not completely agreeing with your demand, but at least I'm being honest with you.

You're pardon upon retrieveing the artifact is assured, garunteed and already on file. It will be brought into full effect as soon as the object comes into Shield hands. Although may I remind you that this isn't going to be a pardon for "future" transgressions, only a pardon up to this point." Henry gave him a long look at this point, letting that sink in.

"And last but not least, it is a pleasure to meet you, Tomorrow, I'm Henry Mere, I work for myself, although most organizations that you can think of like to believe that I work for them...that is an illusion on their part that they can keep, for all I care."

"H'woah!"

Almost on reflex, Silver had hoped back several feet before whatever it was the girl had thrown even hit the ground. He seemed releaxed around the girl, but he wasn't prepared to take whatever what was thrown at him. He hadn't reached for his weapon, though. He merely jumped back and stood there. He didn't know what was up with this girl, but untill it was clear she was intent on causing him harm, he wouldn't inflict any or threaten to do so on her. She was probably just trying to get away. All he really wanted to know was why.

"Now what'd you go and do that for? Yeah, I'm trying to help you. I'm at least trying to offer you a free meal. What are you trying to do, pick a fight with me? There's no need to resort to this scented stuff. If you want me to leave you alone, all you gotta do is ask..."

Silver stood up straight and crossed his arms over his chest, letting out a sigh.

"But then again... it's not like we can really understand each other, is it? This may prove to be a slight problem..."

Upon release, Lazenca did stumble. It was't enough to have him topple head over heels and make a large comical scene of it all, but it was enough to make him recheck his balance, and stare at her. He had never known her to have so much strength in her body- it was another reminder that though they were friends, he had to respect her power and rank.

"Yeah... I'll tell her, thanks. I'll talk to y'all later, then..." As he scratched the back of his head, he witness the duet leaving. Seeing Wolfgang with Twitch reminded Laz of all the times that his former teacher had decided to travel with him. Now, the teacher was a willing pupil, and Wolfgang was off to learn more with the Daraku. Not a bad setup.

As for Laz, he didn't bother going back into the city. Louveteau had requested that he find a place to sleep, and he'd almost forgotton that Blazestar provided him with quite a comfortable space. If not his office, there was an entire apartment complex's worth of rooms he could choose from. With this in mind, he decided to head to Du'Rem... specifically, to Blazestar Central. No words were had to anyone else as he shifted wolf and trotted away, mindful of the stinging in the back of his paws/palms.

((*EDIT*))

John looked down at the man, frowning slightly.

...A government merc-spy, perhaps?

A Mercenary Spy was just that - a government spy sent out to varying locations or sites in the government's rule to lend a helping hand - as well as assess the situation. Meryl, being employed as a government enforcer, had encountered two in her line of work - and she had told her father to keep an eye on them.

I'd have to do that anyways, since he's not being totally honest with me... "Okay then. I can deal with that."

Stepping out of the cell, his movement forcing Mere to stand back to allow the larger man to exit, John looked around him and cracked his knuckles. A few prisoners, recognising him from before, mewled and scurried back into the corners of their cells. Some Shield officers obviously stood a little more attentatively, ready for anything.

John did nothing, however, except smile down to the man before him. "You got a way i can contact you - ouiji board, tea leaves, smoked salmon, virgin sacrifice...bugger it, here." He muttered with a shrug, reaching into his pocket to pull out a dog collar and the shocker. It was one of those ones ones that gave the dog a shock when you pressed the button. The guards hadn't deemed John worthy of a search after he'd glared at them.

He put the shocker to his wrist, like a wrist-band, and tightened it up before handing Mere the control to it. "Here. Press the button when you want me. I have to go now and find someone...give me a day."

With that, he turned to go, worry etching itself on his face as he took a step forward. He needed to find Juuni...make sure she was alright...

"....Curse." His voice muttered. It was already bad enough for him to be a complete novice in directions, but to be totally lost in the bustling street of this sector?
Curse indeed.

Buckling the strapped items closer to his hips, Snow glanced around warily as he scratched his hair in an obvious confused fashion. The loud murmuring of people added with the crowded streets were already uncomfortable to him, especially when he's more comfortable with some breathing space, not like....
In any case....

"Whose idea was it to come here to stock up on items?" He continued on muttering to himself angrily, wearing nothing but a plain cloak for shelter under the day's heat, and simple black pants for moving ease. Tucking the cloak in to shelter his being, he began to walk down the general sections of the street to at least find some food to eat before continuing on in his search....
If he'll ever find it, of course...

"I'm afraid I can't allow you to go just yet."

The sound of leather on stone was heard quite clearly, as the raven-haired Spear came walking down the length of room, flanked by two other Spear's, one a pinked haired woman, and the other a bald black man.

"You are in here, Mr. Tommorow, and for all rights you have no room to make demands as you please. Whether you like it or not, you are within this goverment facility as a prisoner, not a guest. We cannot simply allow you to walk out as you please. You will be accompanying Mr. Mere out on his assignment, and you will be following everything he tells you."

The Spear came to a halt, the other two stopping as well. The female stepped forward, revealing the suitcase she had been carrying.

"Please, have this as a token of our trust."

The suitcase opened, to reveal a large collar, which seemed to be specially tailored just to fit around the beefy man's neck.

"I insist."
